Wow. Do not pass this place up it is worth it I promise. I'm still blown away by my experience here. Catherine is someone who just "has it", she has her love for The Lord guiding her, she has the love for what she does, she has the love for truly helping and healing. She's gifted, plain and simple. She's humble and gives extremely good advice. This just isn't an experience I've ever had. I've had nutrition places tossing me things left and right without any aid to my real problems. That won't be your visit to this one, this is the *real* deal. Her store is packed with everything you need to heal yourself. I told her my problems and she quickly found everything I needed to start my healing journey (I've been on this journey for 10 years.) This hasn't been fun on my own and I never could resolve my issues no matter what supplements I tried. I started to lose belief in it as much as I had and my sacrifice was continuing to take medications my doctors put me on to mask my real problems. After visiting this is the first time in forever I feel blessedly *normal*. You don't realize how much you take for granted when you're normal, normal / feeling good is a blessing we don't even realize until we feel bad. We're told to accept this as normal or "getting older" which just isn't true. My state of mind was stripped from what reality meant anymore and I was constantly suffering and I couldn't remember the last day I felt this good. I have been here a few times on my trips to the river. The first time I was just looking around and saw they had natural flavored shave ice. I purchased some almond oil for a slightly elevated price from bigger stores but still a good price. This time I went in and the two ladies who worked there were in the back on their computers. They barely acknowledged us then said we will be right with you. Waited a few mintues looking at the menu then walked out after no attention was given. I am sure sitting on your computer is more important than good customer service. I would have purchased a smoothie but after reading the review about the syrup I have second thoughts about ever coming back. read more

I am rating the coffee and they use Peerless, which I love, and staff who were so nice. Hot, perfectly drawn and I got nicely wired up. I sort of wished the rest of the health store had more to offer in terms of natural health. I thought it some of the stuff they were selling was a little bit bric brac rather than anything helpful. I'm only rating the shaved ice. We stopped in here after playing at the river. Our kids were hot and were clamoring for ice cream. We saw the signs that said they had shaved ice, so the kids opted for that. The woman who helped us said the syrups were all natural, just fruit syrup with no added chemicals, artificial flavors or junk. We ordered the cherry, root beer and raspberry -- none of them left my kids with the usual blue or red dyed lips like the shaved ice or snow cones you get elsewhere, so that was great, and they were pretty tasty! I'd highly recommend stopping by for a treat here. read more

The reason why I ranked this business one star is because although they promote healthy living, healthy eating, and have all the vitamin supplements, when I asked for a strawberry banana smoothie (which typically consists of milk and fresh or frozen fruit), I saw the employee pouring sugar filled flavored syrup into my cup. How can you promote healthy living when all you serve me is sugar? The syrup totally defeated the purpose as to why I ordered the smoothie in the first place. read more

After a delicious lunch at Cracked Egg on my first camping trip, we stopped in for something sweet. Natural Health had signs boasting smoothies, juices, ice cream, etc...but when we saw sundaes on the menu, all else was out the window. There was one lady running the place and she was out of the bigger bowls so she served us two smaller bowls. We each received a scoop of ice cream and choice of topping. We chose banana and chocolate. I looked around while she made the sundaes. Although a bit pricier, I was glad that she carried a variety of healthy items, including things from Trader Joe's. I was a little surprised when I received my sundae. My topping appeared to be caramel and there was no whipped cream on either sundae. We went out to the shaded wooden porch in front to eat our ice cream. There were several tables with a chair each. We thought against moving the chairs around so we sat on a bench instead. The lady immediately came out and told us to feel free to move the chairs around and brought over a 2nd chair to the table we had wanted to sit at. It was really nice of her. Everybody we met in Kernville were all really nice, a rarity in L.A. My caramel topping did turn out to be banana. She had said it was 100% bananas and it did taste like real bananas, not artificial. The ice cream was really firm and required some effort but it was good and as we ate, we bit into some crunchiness. She had added some toffee pieces in there. Yum! 'No whipped cream' forgiven! The chocolate topping sundae was also good. I love to sit at high tables whenever possible and sitting at that bistro table eating my ice cream in the shade on a hot day was the cherry on my sundae. read more

Thank God for Catherine Crawford at Natural Health in Kernville, Ca! I was recently diagnose with stage 2 diabetes and contracted painful Neuropathy because of the diabetes in both feet to the point where it was getting difficult to walk. A friend of mine told me of a Natural Health Store in town and I should go and see what they could do for my pain... Boy I'm glad I did! The Owner Catherine Crawford introduced me to a treatment called the Beamer Electro Magnetic Pulse System witch stimulates the capillaries around the nerve endings and in turn lessens the pain with each treatment, eventually to the point of no more pain... I'm living proof! And I would recommend this treatment to anyone that wants to eliminate pain, discomfort or any body aliment. On top of the treatments Catherine has put me on a regiment of different supplements that have lowered my blood glucose levels to the point to where I am taking half the diabetic meds I had been taking before and also have twice the energy I had previously. Catherine is a book of knowledge in the Health and Wellness Industry and I don't believe there's a question in her field that she couldn't answer with accuracy and a full explanation. The store is very well stocked with any health item you'd ever need and if you don't see what you're looking for she'll contact her supplier, order it and have it quickly for you. We are in town for the Blues Fest. It was so hot, I went looking for something refreshing. We found NATURAL HEALTH. I was so thankful. I am having stomach issues and the owner of this store was so helpful. I ordered the shaved ice, with all natural fruit syrup. The pineapple & cherry tasted so good. She was right, it did not bother my stomach like some sugary syrups do. This nice lady also gave me some advice about some things that may help me feel better. I love my service here. I'm always referred to with what I'm looking for and it always works. I think this store has an over abundance of options of vitamins and such. I always find what I need. Great coffee great smoothies and great shaved ice also. I buy the almond oil, which they have a large variety of different oils, to use on my skin and it keeps it from getting dry. Having worked at Natural Health I can tell you for a fact that the smoothies are made of real crushed fruit. Cathy is very health conscious and doesn't use anything that is not organic at home or in her store. As a dietitian, I don't usually go into "Health Stores" unless I have to, but I go here for anything I need. I have found Cathy, the owner, to be knowledgeable and well read about herbs, supplements and the like. What I enjoy the most is that if I ask to try something, she will tell me whether it is appropriate for my particular allergies or conditions and if what I have read is real or hype.. Her smoothies actually have real fruit in them, which can be rare to find these days are are delicious. So......Whiskey Flats Weekend. Biggest weekend of the year in Kernville, thousands of people flock into town to experience the greatness that is Kernville CA. I beg of you, DO NOT go to Natural Health. I walk into the store, and place an order, one customer ahead of myself. The woman serving me is friendly, and takes my order well. Somewhere along the way the woman taking my order mistakenly knocks the tip jar off the counter, change spreads across the floor, bummer, she seemed frazzled goes to pick up $10 in change off the floor, I reach to help. This is where the owner completely blew my mind. She says to HER EMPLOYEE IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS *I am paraphrasing slightly, but seriously, only slightly because it was this morning and cannot remember the EXACT words but* "You're stupid and should not even get tips, I'm going to make you pick up that change off the floor with your hands, you need to learn a lesson." I can't make this up. I am a local, and have lived in the Kern River Valley my entire life (33 years). My only regret is not confronting her right then and there, I think I was at a loss for words. I told her employee that she should stand up for herself and not let her talk to her like that. Not OK. read more

I can't say enough good things about Natural Health. I talked with Cathy and she helped me select some supplements that I needed. It amazed me how knowledgeable she is in the field of natural health & supplements. She had a few regular customers waiting in line just to talk with her. I was impressed at the small store personal care given to each. While I waited for her to ring up my order, I had to try her beverage bar and ordered a fruit smoothy. Delicious and healthy too. :-) The girls behind the counter were so nice and polite. It is not easy to work a counter when you have a line of people waiting for their order. Personal care is given to each customer and each order. I visited from Las Vegas and wish we had her store in our town. She was so sweet to give me her business card and now I can order my supplements over the phone and she ships them to Las Vegas. Can't wait to go back to Kernville and see Cathy. A friend and I were in town a few months ago and decided to walk around Kernville and stop in all the shops around Circle Park. We walked into the Natural Health store and looked around for about 10 minutes, no one acknowledged us at all. We glanced around to see if there was even anyone working at the store. We finally found a lady sitting behind the counter on her computer. We approached her with a question about a product and she just ignored us. Didn't even look up from the computer. We thought at first maybe she didn't hear us, so I said "Excuse me, we have a question for you when you get a moment". She still didn't take her eyes off the computer and replied with "WHat!". At that point we left. As my friend and I were walking out we were commenting on the horrible service. I thought the lady was working on something on the computer, but my friend had seen that she was playing solitaire on her computer!! read more
