I swear by Maria's nail skills. Her gel manicures last me about 3 weeks every time with minimal to no chipping. Her shop is very small, in the basement of 100 Federal (a corporate building) and requires check-in with the security up front. While it's likely tailored for the folks who work in the building, it's great for all who work in the financial district. The spot is cash-only but there's a BoA ATM upstairs. Maria is so sweet and her pricing is super reasonable ($35 for a quality gel mani). One nice perk: she gives you protective gloves to wear when putting your hands under the UV light to prevent exposure and damage. I used to be a regular at Natural Image when I first started working in the financial district. Then I stopped because I got too lazy with nail maintenance altogether. Since coming back, Maria said that she would be willing to patch up any chips within the first few days, on the house, as she is taking time to "learn each person's individual nail." Really outstanding service. You won't find luxe over-the top spa aesthetics, complimentary mimosas or anything like that at Natural Image. What you will find is a damn well done mani at a very reasonable price point, with superb client service from the nail techs. I've now been going to Natural Image regularly for the last 6 months. They have moved into a larger space in the lower level of 100 Federal Street and received the Green and Clean certification from the City of Boston. Maria, Tina and Mai Lee are my go to ladies. My gels always last two weeks and even better, when I take time off between gels and go for a regular manicure, I use the Organics line and I always get a week out of that manicure without chipping. Great stuff! Maria takes so much pride in a clean salon and can often be found cleaning when she isn't doing hair for various clients. Mai Lee and Tina are super friendly and know everyone by name. They are always eager to please and very efficient. When you have time, indulge in the spa pedicure! Now that they have the awesome pedicure chairs, it's totally worth it. What a hidden gem!!!! Literally!! I needed a gel manicure and didn't have a "place" in the downtown crossing area. I stumbled upon Natural Image Beauty based on proximity and yelp reviews. Tina did my nails and she was excellent. I have not had this great of a mani in months and I will absolutely be returning. They are hidden in the basement/garage area and you have to check in with building security to access them so it took me some time to find them. I was a walk-in, and Tina took me right away. Good color selection, friendly staff, and I walked away with perfect nails. Tina had extreme attention to detail and made sure I was happy with my nails along the way. I can tell it would get busy during lunch hour or end of day since most of their clientele seemed to be folks who worked in the building. They also seemed to have hair cut, waxing, and I think massage services. Oh and it's $5 off your first visit - for nails at least. Will 100% be returning!!! Highly recommend! This salon is my go to, and should be a go to for any working professional in the financial district and anyone living in Boston! They take appointments and stick to them so you never have to worry about a long wait like at other salons. I came in to Natural Image Boston to get a spa pedicure and a French manicure. I had a 10am appointment and was greeted promptly. I paid around $67 in total plus tip them $4 and they do have a $5 off discount for new members which I think is pretty good. You do have to check in with the front desk so make sure you have a form of I'd if you do decide to check them out. Maria did my feet while Mai Lee did my nails. I'll start by saying they were very nice and welcoming, I do think the space is a little small as they tend to get busy a lot. Maria did an amazing job with my spa pedicure, I think it was definitely worth the $42 however on the other hand Mai Lee tremendously fucked up my natural nails (excuse my French). At first she was confused on how to do the French manicure because I wanted the triangular design instead of the regular design. Her coworkers were trying to help her out but I wasn't pleased. She restarted and it started to look nice after a while and then I just kept staring at it dispersed while my nails were trying bc not only were they smudged which they fix but it looked disgusting, unappealing and it looks like my 8 year old brother could have done a better job. I can't believe my dumbass paid a supposedly *professional nail technician * to do this shot to my nails. I was in utter disbelief and shock. Right after I left after a long day at the salon my nails were chipping and coming off which obviously pissed me off more because It hasn't even been a full hour/24 hours and my nails started to chip and look gross like what the hell did I pay $22 , the company of the nail tech and her friends. It's honestly ridiculous. I didn't know what color to choose and I wanted brown and they kept commenting lie ewww no brown won't look good on you like How would you know? I thought the customer was always right and you usually give them what they want. After being literally coaxed and forced into choosing red to celebrate the "Christmas Spirit", I finally chose red and just wanted to get the hell out of there bc that was not great customer service. The fact that my friends is like you paid someone to do that to your nails just makes me feel foolish and it definitely pisses me off because it's like what a waste of time and freaking money Plus I freaking tipped you after your employee fucked up my nails. I made a mani/pedi appointment. Lily did my pedicure & Mai Lee did my manicure. The salon itself is a bit hard to locate but once you find it, very easy. It also appears very clean & well kept. Lily honestly did the best pedicure I've ever had. She was extremely meticulous. You know when you're getting a pedicure & sometimes in your head you say to yourself "oh I wish they'd exfoliate that part more" or "I wish they'd clean up the cuticles a little more" but if you're like me you don't open your mouth & leave not completely satisfied? Didn't happen with Lily. I am very OCD about pedicures & I seriously have no complaint with hers. I was more pissed at myself because I didn't give it enough time to properly dry before having to leave the salon & messed up the polish myself. I will absolutely be coming back to her. The only reason the review is 4 stars is because of the manicure. My only issue with it was the paint job - mind you this is my second manicure (short nail problems) so I'm not a pro. But she didn't ensure the end of my nail was painted, so now you see a little white line of my nail tip right after the polish ends & the second coat of polish didn't cover the first coat so you can see a line on the sides of nail where the second coat didn't reach. Beyond that, Mai Lee was meticulous & the hand/arm massage was great! I would honestly give the manicure here a second shot, Both women were super friendly. I'd recommend this spot! I visited this place after finding it here on Yelp in large part because it's a 5 minute walk from my office. I called for an appointment to have a mani and pedi. They had one within 30 minutes...great, right??? Not! I get there and they are ready for me. They escort me to the back of the shop were I expect to find pedicure chairs and baths. No such luck. They had a very uncomfortable chair and one of those portable foot baths your Aunt Judy gives you for Christmas ;o( I'm desperate, so I go along. The woman proceeds to be THE SLOWEST, albeit meticulous, nail tech I've ever worked with in my life!! Mind you, this is my LUNCH HOUR. Sixty minutes later, my pedicure is done. At that point I have an internal debate "nails or not?" It's right before a business trip and I want my nails to look good, so I decide to go for it. Forty-five minutes later and I'm done. Agggh! Cost, $45. Now, I'm okay with paying a bit more considering we are in the financial district, but I did not get a special mani/pedi nor did I get exceptional service. The same basic services near my apartment would have cost $35 max and taken no more than 75 minutes. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, the next morning, the polish on my right hand is beginning to CHIP! Needless to say, I was furious. Here is where things got better (thus my 3 star rating). I returned to the salon and was immediately offered a polish change by a different technician. My schedule was tight that day and I was flying out the next day, so I declined. To save my business, the owner offered me an appointment the following week (right before Thanksgiving). I think she gave me her best technician. When I returned for the polish change, I was very satisfied with the service and my polish lasted nearly a full week (unheard of with me because I am a hand washing freak). I will likely go back for a manicure...not likely for a pedicure unless they invest in the real pedicure chairs. read more

I had my acrylic nails filled at Natural Image. The salon overall is convenient and has a pleasant atmosphere. There was no wait, but I made an appointment 1 hour in advance. However, my problems with the salon are as follows: 1. The conditions were unsanitary -- none of the files or clippers were sanitized before or after their use on me...gross. 2. My technician completely botched my nails by grinding them down at odd angles. She used the corner of the drill peice, making long indented lines all over my nails, and did not make them even or flat. She ground down the acrylic so much next to my cuticles that it's actually a different color there than on the rest of my nail. Trust me when I say that they look really silly. 3. The technician was constantly trying to pressure me into making another appointment. I understand they probably want repeat business, but come on! Overall it seemed that the technician didn't really care how the nails came out, and just wanted to make as much money as possible off of me. I won't be back. read more

I'm writing my first Yelp review about Natural Image because I feel that it is my duty to do so. I got a gel manicure here, and I feel like I lit $40 on fire. I can look past the fact that even though I had made an appointment, I had to wait over ten minutes to get started. I can't look past the fact that the woman who did my nails had NO IDEA what she was doing. My cuticles are ragged, she needed help from another woman to figure out how to use the nail file, and I have weird puddles of polish leaking over my cuticles on three fingers. Thank goodness I chose a light color and that I have gel polish remover at home to try to clean up the mess. I even noticed some polish on my knuckle. This was by far the worst gel manicure (or any manicure) I have ever had. I work downtown and normally get my nails done in Somerville. My usual place does a great job and for much less money. Natural Image charged a premium price for this mess. Although to be fair, my friend had a decent manicure from a different technician. The owner is always on premise and is very friendly and accommodating, and technicians are pleasant, efficient and hard working, meticulous in their work. Yes, you have to go through security in the Bank of America building, but that is no big deal (unless you don't have the second that it takes), and the convenient location in the heart of the financial district far outweighs that. This is my new go to nail salon! I work in the financial district and have tried many nail salons in the area. My favorite nail salon is pretty expensive so I wanted to find a more affordable one. I am very picky with where I get my nails done. The place has to be very clean and not reuse the tools without sterilizing. I loved seeing that they open up a sealed bag with the sterilized tools for you. I am also very OCD with how the nails come out. If I see any mistakes I end up going home and taking the color off. i can only speak to their waxing services (although i will eventually try their nail services lol) but i called this morning & made an app for an upper lip wax as i saw on their website it was $10 which is a fair price. i arrived 4 mins early & they took me immediately. the woman was adorable & so sweet. not only did she wax my upper lip, but she also waxed my lower lip, trimmed my brows to reshape them, & massaged my face all for $10... she didn't charge me anything extra and really took her time to ensure i had zero hair left on my lip (upper and lower). i gave her a $5 tip - absolutely phenomenal i feel so relaxed. 10/10 recommend. i'll definitely be coming back when needed on my work breaks. read more

Gel manicure started chipping the next day. They did offer to fix it, and the repair job was horrendous. Instead if removing and starting fresh. she put so much polish at the tips to the point that it was raised well above the rest of the nail. Started chipping again within a day. First time I went there was good, but after this I will not be back. I was excited about the convenience of this place being so close to my office but was disappointed. I went in early in the morning and requested a quick regular polish change. I was asked to make an appointment for noon, which I didn't mind, as I could see it's not a big place and I'm sure they get busy. However, when I came back, I had to wait a solid half hour before being served (and despite my name on the books, was never given apology nor explanation about the wait). During the session one of my cuticles got nipped pretty badly and had to be bandaged. The tech also smudged a nail and had to go back and fix it, which added even more time. First of all, the business is located in the Bank of America building. You need an appointment and you have to provide a photo ID just to get past security. Something that was not mentioned to me when I called to ask if walk ins are accepted. I was on my lunch break and had limited time as is.
