I agree with many of the previous reviewers, this salon experience is PLEASANTLY like no other! An initial consultation is required to evaluate the condition of your hair and to discuss your vision for your natural hair process (the cost of this is minimal and is applied to your first visit). Yes, this may seem out of the norm, but this is how passionate she is about her craft (she wants to ensure that the services provided by her salon and your goals are aligned). Renee is highly organized and very respectful of your time! She is not just an AMAZINGLY skilled stylist, but is a wealth of information. Renee has the ability "meets her clients where they are at" in terms of how much or little they wish to know about natural hair care and overall wellness. She gets to know you and as such, even the most controlled person is at ease giving her "creative license" to pick their style. She is also very honest and will point out to clients the "pros and cons" of their hair care choices, be it colors, styles or product choice. She is in no way about "up-selling" additional services or pushing products, she knows that when you leave, your hair is a reflection of her salon and she wants you to be pleased. From my initial consultation to now, I have never experienced such great customer service, attention to detail, and genuine positivity from a beauty salon. When you walk into Natural Centric Hair Salon, you are greeted by the vibrant wall colors and equally vibrant salon owner, Renee. She patiently answered any and all questions I had on my transition from loose natural to locs and then delved into the reason behind my decision. The way I saw it, this wasn't just about doing another head of hair to her but making sure I was comfortable with my decision; comfortable with the process I would be experiencing; and comfortable with her as my loctician. Something I noticed from then until now is I never wait longer than 5 - 10 minutes get my hair started. Unlike other salons that have kept me waiting upwards of an hour to get my hair done, Renee is an excellent scheduler and she is respectful of my time. While the salon is always bustling with interesting conversation and laughter, no one wants to spend all day there and she does her very best to ensure that is not the case for her clients. Renee is an extremely pleasant stylist. She is creative, knowledgeable, encouraging, full of personality and wit, and she scratches my hair during shampoos like no one would believe! Renee is an excellent loctician! She knows her stuff and is able to school you on your natural hair even if you are not interested in locs and just want to take better care of your hair. Do not be fooled by the natural hair trend videos on Youtube and all the products sold in the store. Please see a professional like Renee and you will reap the benefits of healthy hair. Even if you cannot afford to keep going to her or another professional like her, please get a hair consultation and let her get you on the right track. It is worth your time, money, and investment! So I found Renee online, and after viewing her work I had no choice but to drive all the way to Maryland from Philadelphia to have my head blessed by her hands. I initially reached out to her for a virtual consultation for loc extensions, she was very professional, and if I had any doubts about driving that far to get my hair done at that point she had me sold. She was extremely knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Anyway, finally made it to get my hair done, the salon was clean, I did not have to wait, and she was kind enough to let me break for lunch. The owner was very informative, and explained why I had breakage with my previous color and gave me a very nice color that fit my complexion. It's been 6 mos., and I've had no breakage and no damage.
