Why so many grumpy reviews? I always get rubbed the right way here by Monica. Yes, it's a mid-range facility, so the rooms aren't 100% sound proof. But most guests are pretty courteous. The only time it bothered me was when the receptionist (who is otherwise very sweet) was chastising my massage therapist after she went long in a session with me (not the worst thing to happen at least for me lol!). To me, they are trying to keep the rooms full and provide a pleasant, nicer experience. This is not an ultra luxe salon, but they have nice touches like offering a cup of green or black tea before your service, nice cookies and chocolates to snack on, and lemon water. Yes, there is two buck Chuck if you want wine, but hey it's free! The receptionist is always kind to clients, in my observation. There are two smaller restrooms, but at least there is two! The common sink outside the WC's has always been stocked with soap, paper towels and lotion all my visits. The couples room is cozy, and the most quiet of all the 5 spaces. They sell A LOT of Groupons and discount packages, so seems the clientele turns over quite a bit. I got an amazing deal over Christmas that has my 50 min massages, before tip, at about $40/each. One should always tip generously, of course :) and $20 seems to go over well. I came on a Groupon originally but fell in love with Monica's sweet nurturing massage. She is kind and gentle and makes me feel looked after. Added bonus: Citibike stand just 100 yards away! This tiny spot deserves a bit more love, in my view. It's a solid 4.5 stars - remember, ratings should be for what the facility can possibly be, not compared to the Ritz! I can't stress how disappointed I was with the service here. I used a groupon voucher for a European facial about a month ago. I've used Groupon to get facials at other spas twice and had great experiences. I had the first appointment of the day @ 11am. I made it a few mins before 11 to discover that the aesthetician was late. Apparently she was traveling from NJ. She came in roughly 15 mins late. Not so bad, however I knew it wouldn't go well when I was called in a few minutes after. Not sure how she could settle in so fast. First I should point out that the spa rooms are not nice and very small. It's on par with the rooms you go into at a run down nail salon to get a wax. I was shocked. Through the whole facial she barely said a word outside of the bare minimum of asking if I had any issues with my skin and to tell me she was putting the cloth over my face during the steaming portion. I'm not expecting her to be chatty but I thought she would at least explain what she was putting on my face. At one point she was putting a mask that peels off and I asked her what it was. I think she said olive oil. She said it so quickly so I'm not 100% sure. Also used a zapper wand and I had to ask what that was for as well. Overall the only thing I'm grateful for is that I didn't pay the list price of $150. I would have been highly upset otherwise. I won't be returning and I don't recommend it to anyone. read more

Came in for a deep tissue massage and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Check in was easy, the ambiance was relaxing and quiet, and the decor was soothing and lovely. There's also complimentary cookies and water. My massage was great. It was thorough and my masseuse listened to my needs and injuries and applied the perfect amount of pressure. I purchased a 50 minute massage off of Pulsd and came in to try the spa. PROS: Clean waiting area with snacks and beverages, friendly staff. I left feeling physically good - my body had a nice stretch. CONS: The experience itself left much to be desired. The room that I was in was very small with wood floors, so I could hear my masseuse creaking around and squeezing past corners. There didn't seem to be enough room for her to really move around freely and quietly. I could hear people out in the hall walking around, talking and laughing. My masseuse's phone went off during my session and it wasn't immediately silenced. Not very relaxing. My masseuse didn't have good command of the sheet that was covering me (certain body parts exposed that didn't need to be had she been more mindful). Her technique was pretty rough and unconventional in my opinion compared to other massages I've received. OVERALL - you'll get an ok massage and leave feeling good. But if you like your spa experience to have nice ambiance and a calming atmosphere then this is not the spa for you. read more

Kerma did everything to guide me through the process, starting with a consultation that was so easy I didn't mind the attempt at an upsell. She is always pleasant and professional. I have referred 4 friends to Jess and she never disappoints! Thankfully, my dilemmas have never been as dire as Hamlet's. But what to do when I need deep tissue, booked a deep tissue(mentioning it three times) and get a therapist who seems to know only Swedish or a jam the elbows into you as fast as possible deep tissue? I asked for another therapist after five minutes but the poor woman informed me she was the only one on that day. So I told her to do what she seemed to do best, Swedish. And it was an okay Swedish, though she forgot that I asked for no leg work and she proceeded to work on my legs. My scalp massage was one of the best I had. She was so earnest in her desire to make me happy I couldn't give her less than a very good tip. Call me a softie but I had to reward her for her heart, if not her training. I also happen to be picky about my massages. Just a tip for massage goers and FOR ANY SPA. If you get a therapist you don't like, end the massage immediately and ask for another. If you take the entire massage and are unhappy, you will be charged and it's only fair that you do. Your therapist did work on you and needs to be paid. It's like eating a entire plate of food and then saying it wasn't good. How you tip is your business. If there is no other therapist, you can always try to see if you can book another time and discuss it with management. I chose to stay, being pressed for time. Also as tips go, I usually HAND the cash to the therapist directly in any place. The spa here has envelopes. I smiled at the receptionist and insisted on doing my usual. Sorry, but experience tells me cash sometimes walks out of those envelopes and I want the person who did the job to collect her hard earned bucks. But yes, this spa really tries hard to please. It's in the design, a warm buttercup yellow and blue that welcomes you. There's fruit infused water,large cookies hygienically displayed under a glass dome and bottles of wine for clients to imbibe after their massage. The enthusiasm to please is also in the service. The receptionist was sweeping the outside when I arrived and rushed to run inside to handle me. I do have a few minor complaints. The place is clean, including the massage rooms, the walls are thin and you can hear people outside. Also, another therapist there opened the room to our door during my session. Jeesh, how about a "In session" tag as a simple solution. Then my poor therapist wouldn't have to be put in the position of apologizing profusely. I think this place would be perfectly adequate if you aren't very experienced in getting massages. It's pretty, inviting, and the therapists probably give a relaxation Swedish that would please most folks. I see deals on Groupon all the time so if you score those, it's a bargain if you want a more basic massage and could end up being a very nice, relaxing, experience. read more

Came here for an eyelash redo. Started at Red Spa and was unhappy with length/look. Sent here, I was greeted by Morgan and her cute French accent. Offered wine, I had a few glasses and was whisked away by Jess who had the task of removing the short, sparse lashes. Little did I know it would BURN! Luckily the wine Dulled some of my senses. That's a feeling I wouldn't want to go through again. Jess was attentive and through. We discussed length and style before application. I was happy with end result. I got a Groupon for eyelash extensions and as always with Groupons I honestly never have high expectations. However, my expectations were far exceeded here! It's located on Prince St in a really cute part of Soho with lots of cafes,bakeries and juicerys nearby, plus plenty of shopping. I was warmly greeted when I entered and offered a drink. They have strawberry and lemon infused water in the lobby, and the atmosphere was very inviting. Jess did my eyelashes and she was great! Really friendly and explained how to care for them, and very gentle. Plus they came out great (I got the real look cateye lashes). My only recommendation for an improvement would be maybe a change in the lighting. Every room was lit with super bright lights. Personally I find my spa experiences much more relaxing with dimmer lights. It makes for a more serene ambiance in my opinion. Other than that it was lovely! I will definitely be back. I'm very curious about their other services. Hoping my eyelashes hold up as I would love to get them done here again as well. I came in on a Saturday for lash extensions through a Groupon. I've gotten lashes before but I didn't know the full protocol. Long story short I asked for the wrong lashes (I highly recommend asking your lash technician what she thinks before jumping in - especially if you want a more natural look) Luckily I called 3 days later to see if anything could be done to trim or shorten my lashes and the spa was so accommodating because I was still within the 3 day adjustment period so they fixed them for free! Ok so this is my review for eyelash extensions. LADIES and GENTS... what i am about to tell you is my own experience (second time getting lashes done) Ok so i braved through these reviews for lashes, it was mixed but i gave it a go. on all the reviews, there were 2 people that were recommended the most but sadly, they were not available prior to my trip. I called and ask the receptionist who she recommend and she suggested Olga. Great! I'll go with Olga. I arrived 5 minutes before my appt and was rushed into the bed. Olga seem nice, great! She asked me what kind of curls I like and what not. I totally forgot what my numbers were. Olga then responds, its okay i'll make it look nice and start the process. The moment she started, I can feel each lash being poked into me, which isnt pleasant. The lashes are supposed to be glue to the natural lashes, so why am i feeling it on my lids. Also, i was also half awake when i feel a burning sensation on my left eye (the one she was working on) i couldnt say anything but it was burning and then subside. So now im awake again and i can feel the poking. Time for the right eye, same process....felt the poking again and this time, the right eye, the burning sensation was intense! I literally teared up and it was longer this time. When it was over and it was over within an hour, my lashes were nice, it had the cat eye effect and looked full. So comparison time! The last place I went to (T-amori), the girl sat me down and gave me the run down, length, size, curls, the look to achieve. She even look at me and gave me her recs. I felt like here at Red&White, it was just...ok lay down and lets hope for the best. Secondly, T-amori took 2 hours or so and i fell asleep, no fuss or pain. It felt like over there, they really took their time. And lastly, T-amori showed me how to care for them which was nice. Ok, so a piece fell after the first night and a few days after, a few more fell. They did last a good 1.5 weeks with a few fallouts but there was a couple of days, where i had a lot. So far, im almost on my third week so they still look ok, almost like natural natural. So i'll give them that But comfort and knowledge over a bit longer wear!! read more

I love getting massages at this spa. It's small and quiet. The staff is lovely. While you wait they offer cookies, lemon water and your choice of wine. I had a wonderful deep tissue massage with Sandy. I highly recommend her. I was quite surprised when she climbed on the table. I never had a technician do that but I will say that she was able to dig deeper into my shoulder muscles from that angle. I came here for eyelash extensions with a groupon and had expected a superb experience since my friend said it was great and her appointment was an hour earlier than mine. I got the real look eyelashes and I was kind of disappointed to have my lashes finished within 35 minutes of being seated. That's completely fine as long as the lashes came out great but they weren't completed great. Some of my lashes are slightly crisscrossed with the other lashes and there's a sparse spot. I'm not sure if its something to do with my natural eyelashes or the technician's job. However I'm glad that I don't to have an horror story to tell where my lashes came off within 48 hours. read more

I had an eyelash tech named Olga who did a terrible job. I've gotten multiple eyelash extensions done at other places and have NEVER had such a terrible experience. It only took her 45 minutes to do my lashes. They were uneven. On my way home they started coming off. I called the spa but no one picked up. Really nice, low key place with good discounted deals. There's tons of restaurants to eat at after you finish. My only issue was nearby parking. Arrive early enough to park in a garage and walk over unless you book on a Sunday. The staff was very friendly, the receptionist was very accommodating because I got there a few minutes late. She still let me take my time and gave me a glass of wine which I happily accepted. They don't offer male massage therapists which I wish they had because that's typically my preference due to stronger hands. Let's just say my deep tissue wasn't deep enough. Despite that I left feeling relaxed. My favorite part was the facial. Not sure I'd go back unless they add male massage therapists to their staff. read more

I've been here a handful of times for Brazilian wax and lashes. I usually get nice friendly staff. I like Tanya the most for lashes. Super helpful, skilled and sturdy lashes. I didn't like the other staff doing my lashes, can't remember her name. She was asian, didn't talk much. Lashes fell off pretty quickly. Receptionists were all nice or decent. No bad experiences. Came for lash extensions + a fill-in, and got my original lashes by Jess and fill-ins by Kiki. Both of them did an amazing job, with a cat-eye look tilting the lashes up near the ends. They were super friendly, and my lashes didn't fall out easily. Just take care of them for the first day at least and they should last. I also got my Brazilian Wax done by Monica. She did not give me any before or after instruction until I asked. Throughout the session she talked about personal life to ease the pain which was nice. She was a sweet Lady. Later, she came to check up on me couple times overall, not bad. The whole Spa was super loud, super busy and barely any spa music going on. I should of read the reviews more thoroughly. I went for Real Look eyelash extensions. I previously went for the same at a different location. I asked for anyone and I got Olga. First, she never introduced herself and only asked me if I wanted natural lashes. I said yes and she started putting lashes on. It's not my first time, so I asked her if she can find out what the other location put on but she brushed me off. Half way through, I tried to inquire about looking what lashes she put in and she just gave me the mm. I went with it because I thought she was the expert. So first I love this place, my girl Karma has always done an awesome job and does what I ask however with her on vacation I need to find another place. First she does 110-120 lashes, this girl clearly knew i was a client of Karma and did them because I was assigned. I told her I wanted Cat eye and i usually get glam 110-120, she said she would only do 90 because that's what the system said, i said okay however isn't it customary to do what the client wants? I've been going here for more than a year, I know that there would be an up charge, I'm cool with paying for it, then I looked and said after she was done, if she could add more and she said let me see, she fixed the corner after that. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I went 2days ago for lash extensions. The woman apparently glued the lashes onto my skin and they were so painful that as soon as I got home I googled how to remove them. I got most of them off but the lashes that remain are still hurting my eyes when I blink. My eyes were burning when she was applying them as well. First of all. How do you have five locations and there's only one that provides nail services. In what world does that make sense? I'm glad I didn't buy the Groupon before knowing this, and on Groupon they have their location for nails listed at third avenue when it's actually at prince. Honestly who even knows anymore. I was given the run around between stores. The first girl gave me a number but it turned out to be a guy's number (!!!!!$) Then I try the number they give me on the second round and it's a dead end dial tone The third time I got sent to voicemail What the @&$?!?!! Everyone else seems to have good reviews about this place so I guess that's good but if they ever tell you "our union square location" and you google it you will get the broome st location, not the prince st one which is in fact the union square anyway. Should've taken less than two minutes to book this appointment that never happened but it turned out to be ten. So disappointed. Get yourselves together. read more

My experience here was okay, but unfortunate, if that makes any sense. The receptionist was very accommodating with getting me an appointment and was overall very nice, she is such a lovely girl. The spa itself is ancient looking and looks like it's having an identity crisis. The one thing that really irritated me with the entire experience was the back area where you get your lashes put on seemed dirty. The technician putting on my lashes was nice, but the other technician kept coming over while I was getting my lashes put on and they kept speaking to each other in Russian which was super annoying. Isn't this supposed to be a relaxing experience? Furthermore, I ended up getting some sort of eye infection. When I finally opened my eyes after an hour, they were painfully red, and no one seemed to care that they looked like that, so I thought it was normal. Fast forward to the next day, I could barely open my left eye and they were still both very red. I do have sensitive eyes and wear contacts, but my doctor told me I got glue in my eye hence the pain. I don't think it was particularly the technician's fault, but I guess it happens? My luck. I did call the salon and told them what happened and they said I could go back and get the lashes removed. never made it though as I was leaving town the next day. Nevertheless, I guess I just had an unlucky experience, but please don't have your technicians speaking to each other while putting on lashes, unprofessional. EDIT: The owner reached out to me willing to resolve the issue. Like I mentioned not a terrible place to get lashes on, I just happened to have an unfortunate experience, I'll stick to my natural lashes. EDIT #2: Over the weekend I got eyelash extensions at another establishment in midtown and I did not have a reaction nor did the technician get glue in my eyes. A very cute, small spa in the heart of Soho with reasonable prices. Bought a groupon for $99 for 2 massages, originally at $120 for one massage. We arrived early and they allowed us to sit in their small waiting room with various flavored water and cookies for the taking. Our massages were both excellent, catering to our needs and requests that they asked us about prior to the massage. The ambiance was perfect for a relaxing massage setting. I never write reviews but felt it necessary to warn anyone who might be pulled into their Groupon deal for eyelash extensions: I used to go to the Red and White Spa in Midtown (now under new ownership) for ages to get my eyelash extensions done and was always happy with the results, so when I saw a deal for the Soho location on Groupon, I thought I would give it a shot. The technician was rushed, urged me to get a different curl pattern than I normally do (and I suspect ignored me when I requested to stick with my usual D curl extensions), and glued my top lashes to my bottom lashes on both eyes. To add insult to injury, now, two and a half weeks in, I have lost almost all my eyelashes on my left eye except for 5-10 (of a 90 eyelash per eye package). Keep in mind, the same lashes at their midtown location usually last me 6-8 weeks before they start looking sparse at all. I will be sticking with the midtown spa from here on out. read more
