I was looking for local farms when I noticed Nature Bounty being mentioned. The Google reviews however were full of rude customer service from the wife so I came on to yelp and lo and behold, my own review verifies this. I still remember the condescending and cringe worthy response that I want to caution people to stay away. Hire pleasant people to answer phones and interact with customers. Decided to get a year's worth of food as inflation and unpredictability looms. Looked up this place and decided to give it a try. Called them up and all my questions were answered about the process. Seemed like a great place to try as she was very friendly. When you pull up, farm is clean and well kept. I believe it is wife and husband run. Wife answers phone and explains everything when you call (first time buyer of bulk meat here) and husband is butcher. Meat is halal, appropriately fed and no chemicals (I got a whole cow). Very great quality meat! Lourdes was very nice and was able to pick out the best cuts for the dish I was making. My partner and I purchased lamb and goat. One suggestion is if you're going to the farm expect to purchase a 1/4 & up. They have the best of best but it's a lot if you are planning on buying a smaller amount. Ahmad put the knife in my hand and I'm a new man ! It's an honest and clarifying experience, killing an animal that you are about to eat. If everyone participated in the slaughter of their meals in this country, my guess is that we would have a healthier and more enlightened populace. The farm is not really much to look at, but the slaughter facility is spotless. You come in, let Ahmad know what you are looking for, then go out to the corral and select the animal. A helper leads (forces) the animal down a chute into the slaughter building. The animal is positioned in a tilting apparatus which provides easier access to the inside of the neck (windpipe and blood-flow). The Halal manner of slaughter requires that the animal suffers as little as possible, but don't think that they don't suffer. Even with a good deep cut that severs the windpipe, veins, and arteries, the animal takes a while to bleed out and stop kicking. Like five minutes. This experience is not for everyone, but please consider how much better it is for an animal to give it's life close to where it grew up eating grass, without being trucked to a feed lot and traumatized for days or weeks before slaughter. By the way, you can buy meat from Nature's Bounty without participating in the slaughter yourself. They supply goat, lamb, beef, and maybe sometimes chicken. The meat is fantastic, and it's great to know that I am supporting a local, family-owned business. I'll be a client for life. read more

My family wanted to barbecue a fresh lamb for Easter this year, so we were told about Ahmed at Nature's Bounty. As we drove up to Nature's Bounty, we were impressed by how big the slaughterhouse was. Once inside we were greeted not only by a clean operation, but by Ahmed himself. Ahmad made us feel welcomed by showing us around the facility along with taking us to see the animals. We were very pleased by the fact that we were able to choose the lamb that we wanted. Ahmad guided the animal to the slaughterhouse and gave us the choice to either watch them slaughter and clean the animal or we could wait outside. I chose to stay and watch while my mom waited outside and was greeted by the cute dogs on the property. I was thoroughly impressed with how quickly Ahmad's crew finished cutting up and packing the meat. Last night, we had our lamb barbecue and all my guests were pleased with how fresh the meat was. I am not a fan of gamey meat, which is why I LOVE the lamb from Nature's Bounty. The lamb is flavorful without any gamey aftertaste. I'm not sure how that happens; maybe it's the fact that all the lamb is grass fed . . . In any event, I try to make a stop to stock up on lamb on my way up or back down from Sacto or Tahoe. Last time, I called Ahmad on Wednesday for a small lamb for pick up on Saturday. We showed up Sunday to a nicely butchered lamb. I told him we were splitting the lamb with our friends, so he made TWO packs that each included: a leg of lamb, 4-6 packs of stew meat, 3-4 packs of shoulder and rib chops, and a rack of lamb. We also got the head and stomach, which I gave to my mother-in-law, who used it to make soup. Ahmad told me that I should give him more advanced notice next time so he could age it for me. Doh! Next time I won't forget! Grand total was almost $300, but when we calculated it, it's about the same price that we would have paid by the pound for lamb from Costco. I should note that I specifically requested a smaller lamb. A bigger lamb will cost more bucks. But, another way to save money is to buy 1/2 a lamb or buy by the pound. The high ratings for this farm leave me flabbergasted. My brother and I drove out from Elk Grove in the hopes of obtaining some humanely raised, Islamically slaughtered lamb, but instead returned home empty-handed. That's not to say that they raise their livestock inhumanely or slaughter incorrectly (according to islamic slaughter principles), because we would have no way of verifying that. However, the customer service and general vibe of the place was just...well...off. Rude, curt, and seemingly bothered by even the most reasonable of inquiries, the family who runs this operations exudes a contempt for patronage that is quite palpable. This was particularly noticeable because at the time we arrived, we were the only customers on the grounds so any excuse of them being overwhelmed or busy was simply out of the question. As much as we wanted some free-range lamb, we want even more to have enjoyable human interactions with small business owners in the area and support local enterprises. Inasmuch as I try to avoid corporate, industrially produced meat, I could not, in all sincerity, support this business. The Islamic ethic of comportment was sadly not on display at Nature's Bounty and I implore both my fellow Muslims and brothers and sisters in humanity to tread with caution -- if an ethical alternative meat source is what you seek, then perhaps the search continues. read more

We drive over an and hour and a half every weekend to come here and get our meat. Be sure to call in early to reserve it because they go through their animals pretty fast. Ahmad at Nature's Bounty is a real professional that knows his stuff and loves his job. He was great to work with. We bought a sheep (got to pick it out ourselves) and he gave us advice on which was best to go with. Anyway, I love meat especially hallal so I went ahead with the order. He cut them for us on the spot (takes 20-30 minutes) in whatever size or shape I wanted (steak cuts of course!) On the way out I picked up a jar of local honey - VERY DELICIOUS. I love this farm. Ahmed and his wife answer all my questions patiently. All the animals there are frolicking in the sun, eating grass and hay. It takes me two hours to get there but its worth it. Feels so good that you are supporting a small farm and the meat that you are getting was harvested with love and respect. The meat tastes so much better than the store bought ones. I have been looking for a place like Nature's Bounty for a long time! They let me pick a goat of my choice and did all the work for me. They even let you watch the entire process to ensure your meat is being prepared exactly the way you want it. I've been to many places in the past and this by far is my favorite. They're super clean and extremely professional at what they do. Even better, they package the meat in a box where it's easily transported. They were short staffed today, but I didn't mind the wait. Whenever I'm in town for family gatherings, this is our go-to place for all things meat. My mom always felt lamb was an acquired taste. But after taking a flyer on some lamb here, it has transformed into an almost insatiable craving. There's also something to be said of making fried chicken with personally selected fresh meat. Very good place to buy 100% quality, fresh halal meat!! I got a fresh goat from here and the meat was awesome. None of the Halal shops in my area sell comparable meat. When Ahmad asked me if I am a Hindu, I didn't realize why but when I said 'Yes', he asked his helpers to stop and clean the cutting machine thoroughly before they cut the goat. I finally had a chance to go over to NBMeats and I wonder why I waited so long. I've been previously going to Berkeley to get my halal meat and now I found a great place here in Vacaville. The sheep and lambs are grass fed, which makes the meat succulent, delicious and very tasty. I cooked some chops and couldn't stop eating them. The prices are reasonable and the quality is excellent. While there, I met Ali, who answered all my questions and showed me the goats, sheep and chickens and how they're prepared. The facility is clean and Ahmad did a great job cutting and packing up all my chicken and lamb. There aren't many places where you can get farm fresh meat. This is the only local farm around that has high standards- clean, organized, professional, friendly. I love their lamb, goat, and chicken. Really great quality, juicy, tender, fresh meat. I feel like meat I get from the grocery store is slimy, has too many chemicals, and a strong odor. My wife and I are new to the area. We were looking for a clean, all natural butcher to cut meat. We found it at nature's bounty! The service was excellent, they answered all of my questions and told me to bring the kiddos next time to see the farm. I was new to ordering such a large quantity, so they helped me through the different cuts and even told me how to prepare it if I was unsure. Once we received our 1/4 front calf, we bbq about 4 steaks and it was the best meat I had in a long time. All I did was salt and pepper and My children loved it and 3 out of the 4 asked for seconds. Tomorrow we are going back to nbmeats to purchase all natural eggs. I figure if there beef is so good, there eggs are probably better! My wife and I will continue to buy are meat here.
