Been going here for years. Never have they once overcharged for something. Today they did. I bought 1.11lb of carnitas and 0.22lb of chicharron botanero. I was charged for chicharron con carne, which is $14.99/lb. Carnitas is $12.99/lb. For the carnitas, my total should've been $14.42, not $16.64. I was charged $2.22 extra. That isn't much of a difference but it's the principle. The cashier should've known given that she was the one who got my order and rang me up. It wasn't busy at all, so there was no rush and no excuses. Never going there again. Update: just got home and went through the carnitas. This is the first time it has ever been THIS DRY. I love this market. I come here multiple times a week for the marinated taco beef and marinated chicken. I love their marinade and the size of the diced meat cubes. I like to prepare 5 lbs of meat at once and freeze and then make taco's through the week. They have great salsas; the guacamole salsa and pico are my favorites. I love to grab a hot tamale on my way out and load it with salsa, sour cream and cheese. Their service is wonderful! The guys at the meat counter are very friendly and will always serve the customer both the meat and salsa so you don't have to stand in two separate lines. First off, I wanna say this place is clean clean clean. The meat market side has all of your Mexican style thin cut meats and small variety of seafood. They have all of the Latino veggies, spices, cremas and canned goods as well. The taqueria is simply right. The menu is simple and not too extensive yet what they serve is super fresh (obviously the meat and produce are fresh. I got the potato tacos and the chile verde nachos. Can't wait to try a torta on my next run. What topped it off was the friendly gentleman ahead of me turned around and said "I've lived here for 54 years. They make the best beans around". I was sold. And yes, he was right- the beans were pretty good. Again, don't expect too much of a menu but do expect to get food fresh food coming from a clean kitchen (they cook right in front of you). The market had a great selection of fresh meat. The produce looked fresh. Meandering around, I was greeted with many smiles from local moms shopping with their bambinos. Lots to look at and the smell from the adjoining taqueria was amazing. After taking our time and being offered a couple samples, we were ready to order. DJ is a Chile Relleno fan, so that & the Caldo Especial was ordered for him. I had a chicken burrito supreme. And after a sample of Lupita's Aquas Frescas, we ordered a small one to enjoy. This was her own concoction of OJ & Mango juice. Not too sweet-but refreshing. The burrito had plenty of meat. Not too much filler as DJ points out. It was muy bueno! Not a chili fan myself, I left that for him. But I'm told it too passed the test. The Caldo Especial was the closest he could get to menudo this day. The little market looks lovely and the meat in the cases looks fresh and well cut, so this review isn't about the store. This is about the restaurant. I actually came here because of a one star review that complained that the enchiladas were spicy af. After trying my meal, I will have to assume that person also believes ketchup is spicy. I had two tacos. One with carne asada and the other with carnitas. I would not recommend the carne. It was very gristley and did not have the smoky charred taste that would make me forgive a little gristle. The carnitas was excellent. It was sweet and juicy. The salsas on salsa bar had zero heat. It was more like applying V-8 to my tacos. Portion sizes were good. The piña agua frescas was also very good.
