Sunday late afternoon I went and purchased two pieces of boneless thighs for my little 1 yo to eat this week as I meal plan his food. I placed them in the refrigerator vs the freezer since I knew I would be cooking it soon. Today, Wednesday, I was ready to work on his meals and the chicken already had a funny smell. This isn't something that normally happens when chicken is left in the refrigerator. My husband went to the store to address this issue and was turned away and told they couldn't do anything about it because how did they know we didn't leave it out and not properly refrigerated. So disappointed! Why would we go out of our way to go all the way to the store and it was our mistake. Mind you this is the second time we experience this with their meat. I think this second time is the last- we won't be shopping there any longer. Edit: husband came home with new chicken. This was after a heated conversation where two male staff members refused to give their names or connect him to a manager. It was until they saw him take a picture of their inspection sign outside that they decided to exchange the chicken.

I hated to ask them to undo my mistake, but the staff was cheerful and assured me that it was no trouble. I appreciated that. Best of all, I don,t have to travel to California to enjoy my favorites. Now that I have been 4 times, I am not so happy any longer. They do not have any pork products other than a few frozen sausages. 95% of their meats are frozen, although they do keep a few beef items in the front display/refrigerated case. They sell mostly beef products, with a few items of lamb. I am very disappointed that they do not have pork: Pork shoulder, Boston butt, and St. Louis or baby back ribs. I have decided to go back to my previous "Go to" butcher - "Cracchiolo's" in Woodland - they have everything you need, none of it is frozen either. Buckhorn, you better step up your game, or you won't last! You lost a customer.
