No frills, solid service, and great food! Who would have thought I'd find one of the best pancakes ever in Troy. So happy to have the home fries chopped smaller so they're crispier. Surprised that their side of bacon of $5 comes with 5 pieces!! Inflation? Not here. Can't wait to be back!

I've been to Naughters twice, and honestly, I'm a little surprised by its high rating. It's an adorable diner with charming interiors that have a vintage vibe. When you enter, you'll find a few tables and some bar seats. Due to the limited seating, depending on the day and time, you might encounter a wait. The menu at Naughters is small. I've tried their vegetable hash and the eggplant sandwich. The food was just okay, but it was nice to see the chefs cooking right in front of you in the open kitchen. The staff were quick, patient, and attentive. The coffee was also just okay. One advantage this spot has is that it's open till 2:30 AM on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a potential go-to for a late-night bite after drinks. I felt like my experience was pretty average, and I probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit again.

Its 800am on the NY Thruway. We have been on the road since 5am, and I start to wonder where we can stop for brekky. I pull up google maps and Naughters rises to top like cream. I move to yelp and lots of good reviews here too. They were rated 5 stars with 300+ reviews on the G maps. We love stopping in Troy. We already love Defazio's and Lucky Corner. We were ready for a good breakfast spot here. They are open 8am Wednesday to Sunday and close about 1.0am or 2.30am. These are great hours because many restaurants close early in Troy. We once drove thru on Friday night and couldnt find a place to get food during the pandemic, but i digress. The menu is simple but they deliver on what they promise. This is a nice place for the classic diner fare of hotcakes, eggs, homefries and toast. I ordered a side of sausage and got a nice skinless sausage patty. I enjoyed my eggs benedict with canadian ham with a small side salad of arugula. Everything seems to be made from scratch. No powdered eggs or frozen saussge from the restaurant food supplier company. They also had unlimited coffee in these throwback brown ceramic diner mugs. This place is cute and memorable. The service is friendly, efficient and attentive. Naughter's is only about 2 years old and now they expanded next door. Spend your hard-earned dollars here and you won't regret it.

    Industry eggplant

Just got the industry eggplant for a takeout order. It was really delicious, I would definitely get it again. It's a breaded fried eggplant with a hash brown on it I think the frozen type, it was some flat rectangular thingy. It also had roasted red pepper on it which added an additional layer of flavor that complemented it, and had marinated cherry peppers which added a nice acidic zing. The pesto mayo was delicious I love pesto I could have it on anything. And the bun was nice and soft very slightly sweet. I will try to replicate this to a certain extent in my own kitchen, really enjoyed the combination of flavors.

Was told that Naughter's had the best pancakes so I went in with high expectations (and a little bit of skepticism). They exceeded my expectations. I called ahead to get a pulse check for what the wait was looking like for a party of 3. I was told that it may be a 15-20 minute wait because they were full. To our pleasant surprise, we walked in and had no wait because a table had opened up. The hosts were warm and welcoming. The atmosphere of the space was also vibrant and homey. I had looked at pictures of the menu offerings on yelp ahead of time and it seemed that certain items may have changed. The menu was small but still had some good options and reasonable prices. My dad and I both got the chopped cheese, I got a hotcake on the side and my sister got chocolate chip hotcakes and a biscuit. I also got an iced latte with oatmilk. Both my father and I enjoyed the chopped cheese. It was filling, flavorful, and didn't feel to heavy. The pancake was amazing. It wasn't too sweet, and it was fluffy, light, and overall just amazing. I actually texted a friend that the pancake changed my life. My latte was just as good. The coffee was strong but combined well with the oatmilk and syrup for an overall smooth taste. The food came out quickly and the servers were all attentative and fun! Such a cute, vibey, yummy spot; I will definitely be back!

Service was great, Food okay [Troy NY] We had breakfast here at Naughter's before starting our day. We came in to an empty restaurant on a Saturday morning around 8:30a but it didn't take long to fill the modest size eatery. The waitress was welcoming and very friendly. After perusing through the menu we ended up doing a la carte for two-eggs, hashbrown and bacon (for me) and sausage for the hubby. The food is cooked right there in an open kitchen. Our breakfast was served by one of the cooks, perhaps the owner himself, I don't know. I was a bit turned off by all the grease on the hashbrown and bacon. There's seating everywhere. We sat by the front window. You can also dine at the counter or at a table. The ambiance has a vintage touch. Walls hung old photos. There is a shelf with old cassette tapes, right next to a boom box on the countertop. The diner is located in Historic Downtown Troy. 3.5 Stars for my experience. Review #3011

Awesome find in downtown Troy! I was between meetings with a colleague and we found Naughter's on Yelp. We walked in, were quickly greeted by super friendly staff and placed our orders. I loved my veggie hash with eggs and toast. Hot and delicious! Eggs were cooked perfectly. My colleague had French toast sticks, sausage and a potato of some sort...he really enjoyed everything. Cool luncheonette vibe. Early hours AND late night hours to serve the bar crawlers. Score.

Proof of the deliciousness of that hash art piece. It was art, plentiful, AND HEALTHY AND DELICIOUS!

Wow!! We walked around looking for a place that would serve us breakfast at 2 pm. Man oh man, we SO LUCKED OUT!! Go here go here go here. Wait staff are SO NICE, but really, you want to hear about the food. I had delicious fluffy pancakes (they only serve real maple syrup ), and their house made sausage patty. Yum yum. It COULD NOT BE MORE PERFECT). My spouse, a much healthier eater than I am, had the vegetable hash with 2 poached eggs on top. Honestly, a work of art. So, we completely lucked out. Also, a shout out to what Troy has become. Honestly, I haven't been here for 20 years. It is so interesting, alive, a new go to place for us. Who knew? Keep it going, Troy!

when we tried to grab SD sliders after the kichen closed, the bartender and 5 regulars all pointed us in the right direction, promising we would find the right "we've been celebrating this guy's birthday-eve for hours and need some comfy food to cap the night" experience at Naughters - and boy oh boy, were they right. The warm lighting and diner vibes gives this spot a feeling of being long loved. With late night post-bar hours, breakfast faves on the menu, and the chillest of cozy decor vibes, there is no doubt in my mind that this place has been the setting of so many stories between friends, partners, and strangers, too. One of the highlights, IMHO, in the cassette collection lining two of the walls and the stereo rocking out the staff's selections. When we visited, Metallica's "...And Justice for All" was the featured album. The food was exactly what we needed - breakfast sammies, chopped cheese, and fries for the table, all cooked fresh for us by the happy staff. Regulars down the bar from us ordered the Industry Eggplant sammie, which will be my choice for my next visit, for sure. Another recommendation from our dining-mates, dipping those fries in a side of pesto mayo - YES, YES, YES! that is the right choice. This is obviously a favorite of locals, as a few stopped by during our visit to order meals after their own date nights out and bar shifts. When Midnight hit the clock, all the patrons and the staff joined us in a round of cheerful HAPPY BIRTHDAYS to our friend. THAT explains the energy of this place.

It was darkly lit inside (with pinkish/red lights no less); it was extremely loud to the point that I had trouble understanding what my wife was saying (which might not be the background music!); and the prices were expensive. The entire night they played 1980s New-wave British music which I don't mind, but had it been something I detest I would have lost my mind. We were seated at a tiny table with a small candle which provided some actual heat on the cold winter night. Our server was extremely helpful and though he didn't have all the answers he did offer to go and find out. They have a long menu but it doesn't have a lot of food options on it, with most of the pages devoted to alcohol. They had only one dessert option when we were there. My wife and I both ordered the Hanger Steak with fries, mushroom sauce, and green salad (about $40 each). Hanger steak is my favorite cut and hard to find so I jumped on it. Food came out in about 25 minutes, which is amazing considering how small their kitchen is. The steak was cooked perfectly (they didn't ask how we wanted it), smothered in a lovely mushroom sauce, and covered an ample portion of crispy homemade fries which were so good I would have thought them bagged frozen items. Even the basic salad which was just various types of lettuce was great. They aren't cheap, but they are focusing on "farm to table" and that means quality food at commensurate (fair?) prices. Burgers and chicken sandwiches are $15, so if you want something lighter but still tasty you can go that route. Speaking of light, if you go into the bathroom on the right you will find a cold, dark, tiny room lit solely by a PINK bulb. It feels like being on a spaceship (as if I know what that is like), and after when you leave seeing the main light in the restaurant is very jarring. It was a fun experience but not inexpensive and not one that checks the boxes that I look for in a restaurant. Dark, loud, and cramped might be hip for the young or "save the earth" crowd, but I am too old to give up creature comforts for such things. The food, though expensive, was absolutely outstanding in every way though and I won't forget that steak for a long time.

How about telling us you are out of raspberries and asking if we want something else. My girlfriend can't really eat strawberries since they make her break out. Even worse is I STILL didn't have my food. Server said, "yours is coming, but I didn't want these to get cold." After the rest of my party was halfway done with their breakfast and I still didn't have mine, I asked for a manager. I was told there is no manager there...another load of BS. I also ordered a Turkish coffee which is a little stronger than what I'm use to. It hit the spot. Service is fast and friendly. The restaurant small but clean and cute. It looks as though the owners might have added a table. There are three or four tables in all. There's a new partition in the kitchen providing a little more distance between customers and those working on food prep. Gone are the beautiful ornate gold detailed Turkish dinner plates and teacups. I found them charming though not practical. I sort of miss them but they looked like heirloom items which wouldn't be appropriate for day-to-day use. They've been replaced by simple white dish-ware. Much more cost effective. FYI. There are no restrooms for customer use. That issue never came up for me but an older couple came in looking for a restroom and the owner advised them to go to the fast food restaurant down the street. We arrived early and were seated promptly; water was poured before we even had napkins on laps. This surprised me, as reviews indicated that service could be slow and this was a holiday. But this started a constant service of someone checking in on us every 2-3 minutes (I am prone to exaggeration for a good story, but I assure you this was true. I kept checking my watch to confirm). We put in an appetizer order (deviled eggs) that was served within a minute or two. These were well seasoned and tasty, ice cold from the refrigerator. It's not that they didn't taste fresh, but they were served to us so quickly that I know that they were prepared well in advance and only the warm pork belly was recently prepped. Our meals were served as the appetizer was finished (I was still chewing). At this point, we were 10 minutes into our seating. Our meals included steak and eggs, which I incorrectly assumed would require a little bit more time. Not true! Our plates arrived, piping hot and tasty enough...but boy did we feel rushed. Our server, the manager, bussers, and other attendants stopped by our table every few minutes. I recognize this was a holiday, but there was not a steady stream of people coming through the doors and plenty of open tables were available. Our conversation was repeatedly interrupted with these check-ins and we all took great care to eat the meal as slowly as possibly to stretch things out. At this point we were on track to be out the door in 30 minutes. As a table we made a decision to order dessert and we were able to savor and dawdle long enough to get us to one hour. $180 later, we finished our Easter visit out in the parking lot where no one was pushing us out. (I will note that several families arrived after us and completed their meals in 30ish minutes. What's special about brunch when it's that rushed?) I wish I could review the food better, but my taste buds hardly had time to register the experience. Entrees were hot but clearly prepared well in advance and kept at the ready under heat lamps or in warming ovens. The dessert was cold and sweet as appropriate, but had that prepped yesterday feel to it. This is not what I expect from a restaurant that markets itself as a fresh farm to table establishment. I don't quite regret going to Scarlet Knife, but there are enough quality restaurants in the greater area that I probably won't return.

The order was taken at the register and then brought to our table. The food tasted great and was served quickly! All the dishes had a beautiful presentation! Coffee was a French press and was really good! The place had no cream or sugar for the coffee. Also there were no salt and pepper shakers on any table. When I asked for some salt they gave me a plastic sauce cap with some salt on the bottom to take it with my fingers. It was quite weird. For some reason "Butternut Squash Bowl" had only one egg while all other breakfast items had two. Not sure why this one was special. The real problem however was the smell. The very first impression we got upon entering was a strong smell of fried bacon and other foods. It was like standing next to a stove because the space is fully open, with no divider between the sitting area and the kitchen. In such a setup you need a strong hood exhaust but that in turn would make a lot of noise. Anyway, instead of taking our time enjoying the breakfast and great coffee we had to finish it asap and escape to prevent our jackets absorbing the smell :( We are giving Liza's of Troy 4 stars is it got 5+ on the food and coffee and 3 on the interior and atmosphere.
