Came with a group around brunch time. Place was busy but we were lucky enough to get seats at the counter for four. I got eggs scrambled with Swiss, hash browns and rye bread with a sausage on the side. Eggs were good, hash was greasy and hearty and the toast was toast (sausage was over cooked) My gf got the veggie hash which she found slightly underwhelming, but the sunny side up eggs were cooked perfectly. One of the people we were with got the eggplant sandwich, stacked high with crispy fried eggplant and packing a pesto mayo punch, it will surely be my choice if I'm back. I loved this place! A cool interior with incredibly friendly vibes, perfectly crispy French fries, and all of the hot coffee you can drink. What more could you want? The Philly pork sandwich is absolutely enormous and packed with big chunks of tender pork, and the industry eggplant is a perfect combo of textures and flavors, the greasiness of the fried eggplant and hash browns cut by the spicy pickled peppers. As much as I liked the sandwiches, I suspect that this place really shines at breakfast, and I'm excited to come back on a lazy (and possibly hung over) Sunday morning to see if the eggs live up to the hash browns and coffee. read more

Naughter's, welcome to Troy! You fit right in. This spot is 50's themed, equipped with sparkly chairs and barstools. Jazzy music plays from a boombox with casette tapes. It's small, so don't come with a large group of people! We came with a group of 4 on a Saturday around midnight. It was pretty dead when we got there, but probably just because the spot is new. Once we were finished with our food, it was packed. I only had the fries, but my friends had a burger and egg and cheese. They said it was delicious. There are NO GLUTEN FREE BUNS here yet, so stick to the hash and whatever else you can manage (unsure if the fries are completely gf - they are fried in the same oil as everything else). Hopefully they get some gf bread because I am very curious about the egg and cheese. It looks amazing! The bathroom is in a weird lil nook upstairs. Don't hit your head! There is a sink, but it's to the left once you get out of the bathroom in another little nook. I'll definitely be back here. We've been needing a late night grub spot in downtown Troy and I'm happy we have one! read more

Was looking for a brunch spot late Saturday afternoon and this was it! We wanted outdoor seating so our dog could join us. Got the veggie hash and it was DELICIOUS with beets and arugula. Does anyone remember JJ Naughter's Texaco service station at the corner of Shaker and Wolf Roads in Colonie, New York? It was one of the first businesses in Colonie when Wolf Road was just Naughter's, a beverage center, 3 farms and a golf course. It was known for superior customer service and the highest quality of automobile repairs and service for 68 years. When it closed a few years ago (now it's a chain fast food eatery). But I digress. Walking down 5th Ave on my way to my bank, I came upon this diner with the name, Naughter's, stenciled on the sandwich board out front of 1809 5th Avenue, it also said, Open daily for Breakfast, Lunch and Late Nights. I stepped inside, found a seat and immediately was handed a menu and a hearty greeting along with a choice of beverages. I chose coffee with cream. The menu is a plethora of egg dishes - styles, sandwiches, pancakes, french toast, veggie hash and the daily specials are posted on the chalkboard on the wall. I had bacon and scrambled eggs. The bacon was well cooked but not crumbly and the eggs were buttery in flavor. The kitchen is just five feet from the breakfast counter and is the cleanest I've ever seen. I offer 5 - stars for every category (quality, customer service, price and portion size) J.J. Fun funky place with EXCELLENT food. Two amazing chefs who cook the food right in front of you. Mostly breakfast choices, and other specials. A young man at the counter had a burger that looked amazing. The night we went they had Stew Meat Pie (all homemade) basically a flaky pastry calzone shaped pie filled with yummy beef stew. HOW can you go wrong?? Homemade pierogi with home made sauerkraut were super delicious. Hot coffee and French fries rounded out the night. Today was a little cloudy/breezy, so there was no competition for an outdoor table. First the weak spot - coffee could be better, the food deserves it. This is a funky little spot; and friendly and not pretentiously hip. I do not know how someone with mobility issues would navigate the bathroom, so be aware of that. Thought it would be a nice place to have breakfast,upon entering the one waitress was nice but after being seated not so good. The second waitress just stared from behind the counter ,I had to ask for straws for the drinks, and she comes and dropped them on the table. Mind u, they have no wrapping on them. The overall experience was not very good, because there were bugs all over the place, and the door was not properly shut, thus allowing the bugs in. The food was ok, with the burger and fries being pretty good; the servers were very nice too. It was less than perfunctory overall though. We prefer Skyline diner over this one by far. read more
