Fun shop with loads of popular culture decor, it was almost overwhelming to see all the decorations throughout the shop. Most of the coffees are some sort of blend with flavors but o was grateful to get myself a latte. Staff were friendly and my drink came out quickly. Very fun spot to meet up with friends.
My fiancé and I had a much better experience this time while passing through SLO. We visited Nautical Bean twice this trip. Staff was friendly and quick. My bear claw was enjoyable..the only glitch was my fiancés breakfast burrito took a while to come out. They have a variety of coffees available. If you're just getting a regular cup of coffee, it's self pour and there's a condiment station. Lots of seating available- small tables, large tables with outlets, and even a few tables outside. I'm sure we'll be back the next time we're in SLO.
Love this location so much more than the one by Home Depot! The ambiance just feels a lot cozier and I love their maximalist decor! I tried their pesto sandwich and chai latte! The sandwich was a lot smaller than I anticipated it to be but was absolutely delish especially with the salad dressing and salad pairing! As for chai, I'm usually very picky about it because I want it to have a stronger sweeter flavor and not only did it fulfill this, but also had the spice on the bottom which is always a good sign it's not straight syrup! 4/5 chai
This was my first time trying Nautical Bean and I visited the location on Higuera St. I ordered a mint mocha and a sol bol and I'm honestly disappointed with both. The mint mocha had a smooth flavor; however, it tasted nothing like mint. I had to check and make sure I ordered the correct drink. The sol bol was mostly açaí puree. There was so much puree it turned into what I can only describe as soupy. I tried to eat it, but just couldn't. I feel like giving a two star rating is being generous, but other than the coffee lacking a mint flavor, it was okay. The granola on the sol bol was also good. I can't speak on the friendliness of staff; I placed on online order and went in to pick it up because based on other reviews it can get very busy and I was on my way to work. I not only went out of my way to try Nautical Bean, but I feel like I just threw away money. Based on my experience, I don't see myself going back.
This place is cute and unexpected. The ambience is 90's skate/grunge. It has the best decor (in my opinion) without being tacky. Tons to look at while you wait for your food or drink. They have a couple TVs and even arcade games. There's a corner where you can set up to work on your laptop as well. The staff was super nice and d helpful when I didn't know what to order. We ordered two sandwiches, a burrito, 3 fancier coffees and cookie for about $45. The chocolate chip cookie was a hit. My California bagel sandwich was delicious and fresh. The croissant sandwich (switched with a bagel because they were out of croissants) was a hit with my picky daughter and the breakfast burrito was good. My husband wished there was more salsa in it but it was still good. It had cream cheese which was different but tasty. I got a white lightning at the suggestion of the barista for something caffeinated but sweet. Definitely needed more cream but it did have a good flavor and once I added more cream it was exactly what I was looking for! My husband got a vanilla latte and he loved it. My daughter got a blended mint chocolate chip drink. So delicious! Would recommend and come back!

Greeted immediately upon entry, we were happy to see at end of day there were still pastries available. The Blueberry muffin tasted great and we appreciated the heat up. My Mint Chocolate Mocha was fantastic. The real winner was my wife's decaf black and white latte! Loved the interior decor and how spacious the establishment is. "Oh Warriors...? Come out and play-ee-yay!?!" (See picture!) Will definitely return as our prime SLO coffee shop (beating out all others. And there were plenty we were disappointed with!)
Nice location along the Bay. Tasty well prepared breakfast foods. We had a California eggle, Mom's eggs, orange cream drink and hot chocolate. Smaller portions. Like a one egg omelette size. The avocado was fresh. All for $33. So a breakfast in the more pricey side. It's a pleasant place to eat breakfast though. Good outdoor seating with a view of the Bay.
I was in SLO to have a tire on our car checked for a leak. I asked the service manager at the desk about a nearby place to eat. He mentioned the cafe across the street which turned out to be Nautical Bean. That was a fortuitous recommendation for me. It was a short walk and worth it. The place is coffee house and bistro. I ordered the chicken chipotle sandwich and a blended pomegranate drink. The sandwich was excellent and came with Asian cole slaw. The drink was delicious and refreshing I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the time in the bistro which is creatively and artistically decorated with old photos and memorabilia. The next time that we are in SLO and want lunch, we will navigate to Nautical Bean.
One of my favorite coffee shops in slo because I love the choice of signature coffees, they have a solid food menu, theres lots of seating (although busy at times) and the decor is awesome. I got the shot in the dark (dirty chai) and it's delicious. Great vibes here and nice to sit and work
This place has beautiful and fun decorations. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside. I ordered Mexican Mocha with macadamia milk. They have so many milk substitutes if you are lactose intolerant, which I absolutely love. I also got the breakfast burrito, which has decent portions (worth the price). I also got the Vermont Maple Muffin, which was divine. The service was kind and quick. Definitely will be coming back to this place.
I don't know what it is about SLO, but with each visit, I get this hankering for a breakfast burrito. Nothing fancy needed, eggs, bacon, potatoes and cheese, the perfect car food. Sitting in my car in front of one lone cacti, sipping coffee with one hot burrito, this is how Wednesday mornings should be. Employees were easy going, it's clean and fits the vibe of SLO.

A big Ol' Coffee win for Gen-X!! What a cool coffee spot. Visiting our friends from Long Beach, they recommended we go to Nautical Bean over by Trader Joe's on the south end of the San Luis Obispo city area. They have a great menu, good music plan, diverse customers on the Sunday morning we went in. Super friendly cashier who walked me through a very diverse and fun coffee menu. Love the classic 80s feel of this location. Everything from Farra Fawcett, Johnny Cash, Depeche Mode, the classic clash poster, Darth Vader, a beautiful Bowie wall mural, and a Sesame Street skateboard collection. Not to mention some awesome Star Wars lunch pails on the high shelves. Don't miss those! And, there's a millennium falcon, staring down at you as you get your refill for coffee, Long live the rebellion! And nice clean spacious restroom as well. Great job. My only invitation is to have a low-carb/no-carb food option. We can't eat like we did in the 80's and 90's!! Definitely a coffee shop that is a Force for good. Well done Gen X'er! Every time I'm in town, I goto Nautical Bean. I haven't been to the same one twice, but they all have such a cool vibe and the staff are super friendly! Love this for the company! My go-to order is the iced black & white and a bear claw. Yum. read more

Most of their coffees are flavored. You don't even get the option of a plain dark roast that isn't flavored--and that's if you want decaf. Honey isn't available unless you specifically ask for it. They also don't offer a real ceramic mug or glass; everything comes in disposable cups (hello, microplastics). Breakfast isn't listed on the website, and all the eggs come from a carton, which is why they only offer scrambled--it's not real eggs. I came here because of the glowing reviews, expecting something special. I didn't realize people have gotten so used to mediocre that they no longer recognize what good actually is. And no, I'm not being snobby--I've eaten in restaurants three times a day all over the world and across the United States. This is not amazing. And I don't mind being that person that actually tells people. read more

Nice decor with a down to earth feel when you first come in. Lines feel long at first glance but seem to move quickly. Good options for food and coffee with a few interesting options. My food seemed to take awhile longer than the rest of my party's to get done but when it came out it was well worth the wait! Staff is friendly and inviting and the food came out great (Had the ham and cheese croissant and the Sol Bowl with their white lightning coffee. Based on my party's reaction to the food they all enjoyed it too and they all enjoyed their own coffees, mine was a vote of 2/3rds for it being good read more
Visited the coffee shop twice in one week while in the area. Service even when busy is efficient and with a smile. We enjoyed the Iced Mochas very much but was not a fan of the Hot Mexican Mocha as was sweeter rather than having a kick of heat. Sandwiches both lunch a breakfast are very good. I really enjoyed the Navy special breakfast. Please remember this not a place for big choices for bagels as the usually have only 2 or 3 kinds. The ambiance is eclectic for sure with loads of skateboards on the wall. read more
Such a cool coffee shop! Theres lots of space if you're local and want to do some work or meet up with friends. We tried the Mexican mocha coffee and to be honest I was a bit disappointed. On our way to San Francisco, we took a slight detour to grab a cup and found Nautical Bean. What a gem! When you walk through the doors, you are quickly set back int to a laidback fun in the sun type atmosphere. The walls are filled with the type of decor the reminds us why we live California. I was taken back and loved it! Coffees are great here. Whether you're craving a hot latte or cold brew, this is the spot. Plenty of sweets to choose from, including vegan options. The staff was friendly and professional. So glad we stopped by. This quaint little place will always reminds me of San Luis Obispo. read more

Nautical Bean at 10 am in the morning was packed! Multiple people ordering their to go breakfasts, coffee, and tea! The ambience is loud but fun. They had multiple funky skateboards as their wall deco; as well as old school lunchboxes. It was a quick trip for me and didn't wait long for the food! We had a peach kombucha as our drink and an asian chicken wrap. The kombucha was really good! The wrap could have had more sauce to it, the flavor was lacking. A nice caffeinated surprise that I slept on (no pun intended lol) Drinks: Downtown Detox was a lightly caffeinated and refreshing drink. The Yerba matte, sweet honey, tart pomegranate juice and sour sweet lemon was delightful which reminded me an elevated version of green tea and acia refresher from Starbucks. Iced mocha with oat milk was the coffee kick I needed. The mocha syrup ratio was great so the espresso came through the drink. I enjoyed the espresso taste kinda nutty. Rainforest Latte had Yerba matte, chai and soy. This was the type of chai latte I been seeking in SLO. Not too milky or watery with great earthy taste. I am not a huge soy milk person, but this drink I savored I did want a blended drink but they do not put in espresso shots. They use a coffee powder and flavoring powder instead which was a bummer. I wanted real espresso and more natural flavors Service: the young gentleman was quick, super kind and helpful. Smiling and welcoming every customer. The barista girls were helpful too providing input on drinks Environment: skater girl and boy vibes. It's an older building but more cozy feel with outlets. The AC was blasting at a steady negative which is fine since it's been hot in SLO. Overall: I would go again for their personal drinks and change of scenery. Espresso was great. Amazing atmosphere! Super busy on weekends if you're trying to find seating. Lots of local college kids trying to study and get work done. Been coming here for the last 3 years and have not been disappointment! Every drink I've ordered has been amazing this includes shot in the dark which is a chai latte with a shot of expresso, vanilla latte which wasn't too sweet, iced chai latte which was again super yummy, not to mention their food is always a hit. read more

Such a cool and trendy coffee shop in SLO with a lot of pop culture decor items to look at while you order or wait for your coffee. As with social distancing in place, they didn't have any indoor seating, but they did have some benches outside. I ordered an oat milk vanilla latte and a Greek yogurt with a croissant while my husband got an iced cold brew. They tasted delicious and was perfect to start off our morning. The price points are reasonable for a coffee shop. I wish we had a coffee shop like this in LA/SGV. read more
I had a wonderful experience my first time at nautical Bean which drove me to visit a second time. There was a 20 minute line of coffee and I didn't have the time so the cashier gave me some vanilla syrup so that I could use the already brewed coffee to go. I decided to order a maple cupcake and boy oh boy did they go well together. This is a small shop and of course it's going to get busy at peak times of the day but I was impressed at the cashier wanting to give me an alternative to my order so that I wouldn't have to wait. There were more pastry options like a ham and cheese croissant but I wanted something sweet and it paid off. You will see a lot of 90s motif In the form of skateboards hand on the walls. It's a really cool set up so I will give you some screenshots and you can tell me what you think. read more
