We went to Nautical Bean and it was so good. The iced vanilla latte was so fresh and creamy, highly recommend! The caffeine content wasn't too overwhelming either. Overall, would recommend getting their iced lattes. The breakfast burrito was a bit disappointing. It came out piping hot which was nice. This place is cute and unexpected. The ambience is 90's skate/grunge. It has the best decor (in my opinion) without being tacky. Tons to look at while you wait for your food or drink. They have a couple TVs and even arcade games. There's a corner where you can set up to work on your laptop as well. The staff was super nice and d helpful when I didn't know what to order. We ordered two sandwiches, a burrito, 3 fancier coffees and cookie for about $45. The chocolate chip cookie was a hit. My California bagel sandwich was delicious and fresh. The croissant sandwich (switched with a bagel because they were out of croissants) was a hit with my picky daughter and the breakfast burrito was good. My husband wished there was more salsa in it but it was still good. It had cream cheese which was different but tasty. Greeted immediately upon entry, we were happy to see at end of day there were still pastries available. The Blueberry muffin tasted great and we appreciated the heat up. I was in SLO to have a tire on our car checked for a leak. I asked the service manager at the desk about a nearby place to eat. He mentioned the cafe across the street which turned out to be Nautical Bean. That was a fortuitous recommendation for me. It was a short walk and worth it. The place is coffee house and bistro. I ordered the chicken chipotle sandwich and a blended pomegranate drink. The sandwich was excellent and came with Asian cole slaw. The drink was delicious and refreshing I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and the time in the bistro which is creatively and artistically decorated with old photos and memorabilia. They had multiple funky skateboards as their wall deco; as well as old school lunchboxes. It was a quick trip for me and didn't wait long for the food! The Yerba matte, sweet honey, tart pomegranate juice and sour sweet lemon was delightful which reminded me an elevated version of green tea and acia refresher from Starbucks. Rainforest Latte had Yerba matte, chai and soy. This was the type of chai latte I been seeking in SLO. Not too milky or watery with great earthy taste. I am not a huge soy milk person, but this drink I savored I did want a blended drink but they do not put in espresso shots. They use a coffee powder and flavoring powder instead which was a bummer. Nautical Bean is a really cool spot for coffee and breakfast items. It's located in a strip mall so there's plenty of parking. If you're looking to study, work, etc....you'll blend right in with the rest of the crowd. There are tables everywhere (some are even booths!) and outlets as far as the eye can see. The decor is really cute! My partner and I sat outside with our coffee, my cheese filled danish, and his kitchen sink breakfast burrito. We both agreed it was one of the best coffees we've ever had. My cheese filled danish and his breakfast burrito were less memorable- in my opinion. So, why 3 stars? Every worker was being interrupted by another workers about things that happened hours before. So, my better half and I stood at the register while the cashier was interrupted about cups, flavors, etc. She couldn't keep track of our order because she kept stopping to talk to whomever interrupted her. Customer service was really off that day. My order was nothing unusual - a large chai...extra foam and extra hot. The first attempt clearly failed. It was large, but not even hot and without any foam. I brought it back to the young woman who made it and asked for a new one. She put the replacement on the counter, walked away and quietly said over her shoulder with an air of resignation "it's here". This one was fine - extra hot and with extra foam. However, what stuck with me was not a drink well made on a 2nd try, but the attitude. People sample a place and go back if they have a reasonable experience. A not-so-good encounter leads to a negative review and potential customers who will read it. I've ordered similar drinks from the Nautical Bean on Los Osos Valley Road and always had good food, friendly service and a desire to go back. Interesting what doing the right thing can do for business. read more

Such a cool and trendy coffee shop in SLO with a lot of pop culture decor items to look at while you order or wait for your coffee. As with social distancing in place, they didn't have any indoor seating, but they did have some benches outside. I ordered an oat milk vanilla latte and a Greek yogurt with a croissant while my husband got an iced cold brew. They tasted delicious and was perfect to start off our morning. I had a wonderful experience my first time at nautical Bean which drove me to visit a second time. There was a 20 minute line of coffee and I didn't have the time so the cashier gave me some vanilla syrup so that I could use the already brewed coffee to go. I decided to order a maple cupcake and boy oh boy did they go well together. This is a small shop and of course it's going to get busy at peak times of the day but I was impressed at the cashier wanting to give me an alternative to my order so that I wouldn't have to wait. There were more pastry options like a ham and cheese croissant but I wanted something sweet and it paid off. You will see a lot of 90s motif In the form of skateboards hand on the walls. I arrived in the afternoon to find this cute coffee shop in an average strip mall. I loved the name! I met a friend for work, and we camped out on a table in the back room to get some things done. It was awesome. I ordered a coffee that I really enjoyed. It was caramel something and it was delicious. There is plenty of places for charging your devices while you work. And it seems like a popular place to do this kind of thing. Everyone who works here is friendly and helpful. And then at 4 o'clock they play the closing song and turn it up a little louder than normal. That is your gentle reminder that they close at four! The drinks are good (I tried black and white and carmel sutra) and the decor inside is pretty cool. The baristas and people working the register were very kind! I only had an issue with how difficult it was to do work here. It was REALLY loud in here, and the seats are mostly wooden, so it was uncomfortable sitting for awhile. Although it's a large space with outlets and ample seating, I heard the blender noises, banging noises from making drinks, and people talking and laughing very clearly and loudly (not the coffee shop's fault). It's almost like every noise and voice was amplified. I would not recommend working here, unless you're okay with all of this. I even had noise cancelling headphones with music blasting on high volume, and it couldn't block out the noises. read more

I got the full size cabbage chicken salad. I'm working here from out of town so I had a coworker order for me. I made the mistake not viewing a current menu. I paid $14 for the salad (which is reasonable but I thought it was $10). The restaurant added tip and tax. I paid $17.50. I wouldn't mind but it has no flavor.
