Mom had a short stack of pancakes with blueberries so plump they burst! It was nice visiting with my niece and her baby daughter! I went to pick up a box of mini Linzer tarts for our family dinner tonight and the owner was so sweet he gave them to us gratis! Efcalisto poli! Had the worst experience at the Nautilus Diner today . While we are regulars , today's encounter was very weird. The waiter , who must be new because we've never seen him before , was acting really strange , absolutely reeked like alcohol anytime he got close to us ! You could clearly tell he was on something. Went today with our 3 and 5 year old granddaughters ... they wanted pancakes (chocolate and blueberry) but the cost was about $14 each so we asked the waitress if they had a kids version of each and she said oh, we have a "short stack" version of each ... so we said great let's have that ... got the bill and they still charged us $14 each, but for just two pancakes each )the "short stack") when we asked they said that's what we ordered / that's what we got .... Meh. I've been back several times since the re-opening. I used to frequent this diner because it's close proximity to my house and because the food and service was consistently good. I can't really say the same at it's current standing. I think this place opened before anyone was really ready for it to. My fiancé and I came late one night to get takeout. The process took upward of an hour and we were still missing items. 1. Service is super spotty. Waiters who don't understand the system and are arguing with management to help them who also seem to have no idea what's going on. 2. No one seems to know the menu. When you're paying $12 or so for a deluxe burger and it's supposed to come with onion rings and coleslaw, give it to the customer. When my fiancé and I left with our takeout we check it in the car and noticed the missing sides so we turned right back around and asked for them. The manager (or owner) was nice and gave us some cookies for our troubles but when we got home we were still missing coleslaw. When I sat down and ordered the waiter was kind of a douchebag. Missing onion rings again and he was like "well it only comes with 2 anyway." Ummm then bring the 2 it was supposed to come with and shut up. I ordered a waffle and it was warm but soggy as if they had made it earlier in the day and nuked it when I sat down. Cold eggs, weirdly thin pre-cooked bacon, and stringy syrup that had clearly been sitting for a while. But the pretzels with cheese sauce and the wings are really good. Been to the diner a couple of times in the past month and neither time was good. Very hit and miss. First time my companions liked their food but I couldn't get past the small almost see through slice of Swiss cheese on my cheeseburger. Also the chocolate cake we got for desert was very dry and the eclair I had was really dry which is unusual for an eclair. The most recent time we went the raviolis were hard and smelled like plastic. How does that even happen. Our guess is severe freezer burn. Regardless, they were inedible. To top it off the service was extremely slow. I am writing this review in hopes that management will realize they need to make some serious improvements. read more

Visit Date: April 5, 2014 I decided to stop here for breakfast before work, which is now my new Saturday morning work ritual. This diner apparently used to be very outdated and run down. They beefed things up a bit and have now opened again looking very spiffy, new & classy. The atmosphere is terrific. It's what I like to call club/diner. It's a new trend on Long Island to redo your atmosphere with a partial club atmosphere to it. Luckily most diners do not have annoying club music blaring or I wouldn't be eating there. I do dig the club/diner scene it does make the diners very pretty. The service was good, the staff was nice, and attentive. They bought my meal out pretty quickly. I had the avacodo breakfast wrap with home fries. The eggs inside the wrap were good, the veggies inside the wrap were fresh & good and I enjoyed the home fries too. My family decided to finally dine indoors on this hot sunny day. We were warmly greeted by the friendly wait staff at the Nautilus Diner. We were impressed by how clean and safe the place was. The bathroom was immaculately clean and the tables were pristine. The food was absolutely delicious . I had the Santa Fe Wrap and my wife had the Chicken Souvlaki. Hey Friends, Good morning. I've been wanting to try The Nautilus Diner for a while. I so happy that I was in the area today. Arriving, I noticed the huge parking lot could hold 200 cars. The Diner itself was in a very large building with several large rooms easily seating 100 people. They're all set up here for catering large events. The wait staff was professional and friendly, I was seated right away.. In a big comfortable Booth, I had a choice of a few newspapers to read with my coffee. For my Saturday morning breakfast, I chose the pancakes Deluxe. This Yummy big calorie packing meal came with FAT link sausage , 2 eggs and of course a stack of hot fresh made pancakes. I noticed how the stack of pancakes made it to my table still hot and steaming. You can tell if the butter can melt, they're hot enough. Flavor of the food was good, no complaints. Looking forward to trying dinner here. I noticed how beautifully appointed this Diner was, First Impressions so important. I loved the homestyle aviance, the smiling customer friendly attitudes. All the staffing was professional and spot on here. Well Skilled in the hospitality industry. I never had to wait for my coffee fill or water glass. I couldn't help but notice that this restaurant's seating and accommodations were new, modern and comfortable. You could easily fit hundreds of hungry folks in here. The Homestyle holiday decorations also gave the establishment a very nice touch like you were at a friend's house. I want to thank everyone for being so very nice today. I used to come here when I was a teenager early 20s after the bars closed 45 years ago. It was the go-to place for late night eats. Their chocolate cream pie was the bomb! I'll have to stop in for old time sake next time I'm on the Island. read more

Lets start off by saying I do like the food there. I went there enough that I knew the wait staff and certain waiters would want us in their section when we visited. What I dont like is when a manager is cheap. As we were walking out my son asked for a black and white cookie. I said no problem, we just paid a $100.00 bill plus a tip and for a dollar or two, no problem. They charged the kid 5 bucks (and change) for a cookie. When I said something about it ,I get an excuse about how much icing is and payroll tax etc. Seriously? I can go to a bakery and get them for a buck or two. Not to mention if I got a kids meal a cookie is included. If I went to a local supermarket I can get a whole package for 5 bucks. I was here today and the food was absolutely disgusting! The service was good was but food was horrible. Me and my friends ordered the macaroni and cheese, the chicken tenders, the waffle fries, and the strawberry cheesecake. First off the macaroni and cheese has no flavor at all, second of all the chicken tenders were over cooked, slimy, dry, and had this disgusting crap on the bottom of it. Third of all the waffle fries were seasoned way to much that it made me Nauseous. And fourth of all the cheesecake was absolutely horrendous. The cheesecake it self was sour and the strawberry filling and strawberry were so disgusted that I wanted to puke. I've been sick for 3 days cause I got food poisoning!!! I grew up going to the Nautlius as a child and it was one of my favorite restaurants. When they closed down I was distraught and ecstatic when they reopened. It took me years before I ventured back to the Nautilus after their reopening and let me tell you, it's going to be one and done. I went for a late lunch around 2pm. The restaurant was not busy at all. It took 10 minutes for our server to come and even acknowledge our existence. The guy who set the table pretty much threw the silverware and placemats at us and we had to set the table ourselves. When the server FINALLY took our order it took 45 minutes for the food to come. We actually had to ask the owner if our food was coming. Our server was not friendly at all. She never once came to ask us if we wanted refills on our drinks, never once checked on us and never apologized for our having to wait so long for the food. I had to ask for my coleslaw and pickle that was supposed to come with my meal. My friend didn't even get her coleslaw and pickle. Our waffle didn't come with syrup which we had to ask for and we had to ask at least 4 times for ranch dressing. It got to the point where the owner and another server were giving us our condiments and our server was MIA. I asked for my burger to be medium rare and it was well done and dry, my friend asked for a bowl of soup and got a cup. The food was terrible, the service was terrible and the owners didn't seem to care at all. If you are looking for the quality of the Nautilus from back in the day, you will be sorely disappointed. Don't waste your money going here. Do you want good diner food? Drive 20 minutes east and go to the Peter Pan diner in Bay Shore. Now THAT is a good diner with GREAT food and GREAT service. So of my almost 70 years I have lived w'in 2 miles of this Massapequa/Amityville institution for over half a century While I was growing up my family ate here weekly, when I returned to LI in the late 80s my parents were still regulars and I often joined them. Never anything unusual other than Greek classics like a Gyro, Nautilus ALWAYS held the promise of good food prepared well for a reasonable price. Since reopening we have given them a couple of chances to at least serve a 'worth the $$$ meal' and then, till this Thanksgiving, had given up! As we all should know Thanksgiving was destined to be a 'different' event from times past this year! Wanting husband to not miss the traditional food I decided that certainly this was a meal Nautilus could dish out w'ease & as a Vegan I'd find 'something' to eat! I knew they had outdoor seating which was important and felt that if we went fairly early in the afternoon there would be plenty of social distancing! Arriving @ 3:30 we were told we could sit in the tent which we had noticed as we went past had a heater going & was some 75/80* or so it seemed as we had stepped in. Nice hostess said she could have a table put in other empty tent to which we happily agreed! Bus boy came clutching, container of sugar & sugar subs, S&P, 2 covered plastic glasses, 2 rolled up napkins w'flatware all to his chest w'straws dropping from his pocket as he walked! At least for me THIS was not a good omen! I understand 'Covid' issues but the way he had all this clutched to his chest & the waste of unrequested plastic, not to mention the plastic straws was appalling! Flatware wrapped w'the part you put in your mouth uncovered clutched in the hand of somebody who has been clearing tables is something I have seen before in the last 6 months & why I bring my own flatware wrapped in paper towels from home! Unfortunately I truly believe he had no idea of my comments & was just doing as directed by Management! Waiter shows up shortly after & he too spoke little English...I have EVERY bit of acceptance on this issue & for some 40 years as a schoollbus driver worked with & defended many ESL folks as I was a sub when they were absent...but if you are working w'predominantly English speaking folks you MUST be able to handle basic questions about the food & ingredients! A simple question of the black bean or lentil soup using what type of broth (veg., chicken, beef or water) took forever to get across to relay to the cook! When he returned I had little faith in his 'no animal' response but since I knew BBean soup is so flavorful it often is simply water & spices I went w'that and specifically stated chopped onions on top & NO CHEESE! I also went w'Sweet Potato Fries as a treat! Hubby ordered the Thanksgiving Dinner w'mashed (who eats a baked potato on T'day) & the green beans! Husbands side salad came out quickly, again balanced in the arms of a 3rd. guy, now clutching a bottle of ketchup, glass of beer and a pile of napkins in his arms. As he put the basic Heinz bottle down in from of me I was appalled to see left over dried ketchup all over the lid & dripped down the side! Now I KNOW common usage things like this are supposed to be cleaned between customers & I would have felt the same at the look of THIS bottle before Covid! Certainly glad I never need ketchup! It took 45 - 50 min. for our meals to show up after presented w'his salad! We were making jokes about sweet potatoes instead of poured from a freezer bag maybe were peeled & sliced fresh along w'fresh mashed potatoes, gravy & soup instead of all being 'nuked'! I kept saying to husband if you are one of the very few establishments offering T-day dinner w'all the trimmings you'd think you'd raise your image by doing it well to encourage new customers to come back! After the long wait out comes a huge mound of yellow gravy obviously solidifying already & covering everything else on the plate! A side plate included 2 small bowls, what turned out to be obviously dried potato flakes watery on the bottom & 'flaky' on the top & totally droopy green beans in some sort of burnt tomato sauce! Husband said at least it was 'real' turkey not chopped & pressed roll but sliced so paper thin it was hard to appreciate! My bowl of black bean soup had obvious signs of cheese having been melted on the top & down the side of bowl. Obviously the waiter had understood enough to scrap the cheese off & sprinkle lots of red onions on top to hide the remains.....but he forgot to check the back side of bowl which had all the telltale extra cheese dripping down the side! I will say they do a generous platter of particularly good sweet potato fries! When the BB soup came back out it was obvious that they had poured it into a new bowl w'out even reheating it & this time skipped the onions! If I was allergic to dairy I would have had a problem as I'm confident it was the same soup w'the cheese now on the bottom! read more

I visited the location on 10/30/18 around 10:00pm for a quick bite. This was my first time visiting this diner so I did not know what to expect. Upon my arrival you can see there is plenty of parking. Once inside you can see the dining area was beautifully decorated for Halloween and very clean I must say. We was immediately met by the Hostess. She was very hospitable and seated us right away. I think beside my table there was only one other table occupied. My youngest son ordered the steak quesadillas with fries and a hot chocolate with whip cream, my oldest son ordered the Tuscan chicken panini with fries and I ordered the steak panini with raspberry ice tea. My kids seem to enjoy their meals. I felt my steak was tough and I could not finish it. My issue was my bill. It was $57 and some change. I found that to be expensive. Overall all I gave it 3 stars. I feel if you are going to overcharge for food at least make sure it's on point. read more

I am heading out for the day, so I ordered a takeout order of 2 simple breakfast items over the phone. The gentlemen took my order and said 10 minutes. Ok great. 15 minutes passes and I head there on my way to work. Upon entering no one is at the counter, and whom a believe was the manager was eating in the dining area, whom proceeded to yell across the diner to me asking me if she could help me. A little hesitant, I say I had placed a takeout order and I was here to pick it up. After several exchanges and trips to the kitchen it turned out my order was never put in the system and no one had made the food. They offered to cook it the and there but I did not have any time to wait. Very sad to see such a staple in the community come to this. Mind you this was 830am on a Tuesday. I have been going to the Nsutilus diner for years. I had brunch with my friends there this past Friday. The food was great, as usual. While they try to space the tables and have plenty of hand sanitizer, I was dismayed to see that half of the employees wear their masks UNDER their nose! Several other employees barely have the mask on their nose! To top the cake, the owner even had his mask under his nose! I understand the mask is uncomfortable, but this is a dangerous practice. It does nothing to protect anyone from Covid 19. As someone who works in the medical field and wears an N95 mask along with various other PPE 12 hours a day, I find this horrendous.This is not the time to get lax with precautions! Unfortunately, I wont be coming back to this diner since I no longer feel safe there. read more

Went for brunch with my mom Saturday morning and had great service and great food! I had an omelet with veggies and meat in it and it was very good. Plus, it was HUGE! I had enough leftover to take home for Sunday's breakfast. The home fries were delicious as well! My mom had a waffle with fresh fruit and whipped cream and it looked amazing. This is my second time coming here and still can't find anything remotely wrong with this place. Service is great. The place is really nice and clean. Food portions are huge and cooked exactly as you ordered. Had the flounder stuffed with crab meat and the Maryland crab cake sandwich. Both were spot on and sides were great. The clam chowder to is a must. Huge pieces of clams in it. Wife got hot open turkey and London broil in mushroom gravy. Both were excellent to and excited to try more stuff on there menu read more
