The menu options are extensive there is definitely something for everybody there. The French toast was pretty good but once you remove the fun/yummy toppings it loses some flavor. Service was great! They don't take reservations, but my friend and I came in for lunch on a Saturday around 12 PM and were seated immediately. The hostess who seated us was training and was very friendly. She did forget to give us the seasonal cocktail menu, though, which normally wouldn't have been a big deal, except I couldn't find it online, nor was it loading on their website. We waited about 10-15 minutes before our server, Melissa B., came over to greet us. When we politely asked for "the drink menu," she responded, "We don't have a drink menu, we have a cocktail menu," in a tone that came across as a little bothered. I just said, "Yeah, that's what I meant :)" Thankfully, the cocktails were easily the highlight of the experience. I ordered the espresso martini, which was phenomenal, and my friend really enjoyed her Hugo Spritz. If I ever came back, it would honestly be for the cocktails rather than the food or service. For food, I ordered the buffalo ranch wrap with no tomatoes and the ranch on the side. My friend ordered the chicken Caesar sandwich on a pretzel bun. Our food came out very quickly, but my order had two mistakes: the ranch was inside the wrap and it also had tomatoes. Melissa came back to check on us about five minutes later, and once I pointed it out, I had a corrected wrap within another five minutes, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the wrap itself was just okay. The tortilla wasn't pressed or warmed enough to melt the cheese, so it felt like I was eating cold cheese with buffalo chicken strips. I had also asked for my fries well done, but they weren't cooked that way with either order. When my replacement food arrived, we weren't given utensils or napkins, so we ended up borrowing some from the empty table next to us. While we were still eating, what appeared to be a manager or supervisor in a long sun dress pushed another table directly against ours, presumably to prepare for a larger party. It wasn't a huge issue, but it felt a little awkward and inconsiderate while we were still sitting there eating. I also ordered their house made blue cheese dressing on the side. This is obviously personal preference, but I wasn't a fan. It had more of a mayonnaise-like consistency, very similar in appearance to the Caesar dressing on my friend's sandwich. I tend to prefer blue cheese dressing with more texture and actual blue cheese crumbles. Overall, I left pretty disappointed. I had seen their Instagram page with around 30K followers and went in thinking, "Wow, this place must be really good." I also thought the whole "Whiskey Girls" concept was cute and expected the service to be a little more upbeat, hospitable and personable. Unfortunately, that wasn't really our experience (especially with Melissa B as our server) Toward the end of lunch, we waited quite a while for our check. I was genuinely close to calling the front desk from my seat to ask for it when Melissa finally came back. My friend and I had actually considered ordering another round of cocktails*, but after feeling mostly ignored once my replacement food was delivered, we decided to spend our money at the Library Cafe next door instead, where the drinks ended up being cheaper and we enjoyed the atmosphere more. This was my first time coming here and the experience and food was OK. I know it's a Saturday, and the weekend crowds get busy, but though we got seated quickly, it took a while for our waitress to come over and acknowledge us. Then when we placed our orders for 3 iced lattes, she came with 1 iced and 2 hot... I hate starting with that, but first impressions are everything. Regarding the actual food, everything came out looking great, between the simple french toast, fried eggs, and bacon, but I wished the french toast actually carried the traditional cinnamon and nutmeg flavor profile. The look was great, with a perfect crisp to the bread, but there was no distinct taste. Maybe flavor the syrup with those elements or something. I will say that I enjoyed my fried eggs and crispy bacon. Would I come back...YES, because I want to give it another try and sample their lunch menu. read more

Headed back to Whiskey Down to try their lobster roll because it was back on the menu, and every time I saw it on Instagram my stomach growled. Seating is always a bit of a crap shoot, and it's tight inside. But service is fun and attentive, and it's got a great diner motif. The lobster roll was as advertised - A+. Great count of meat for the price. Topped with all delicious claw meat, tail under it. Butter on the side. Highly suggest! Whiskey Down Diner is so much more than a diner. Yes, it looks like a traditional diner. But there is so much more to their dishes than what you typically find. Located in the main street area of Farmingdale, Whiskey Down is a great place to stop for a burger, breakfast for dinner, or an overembelished milkshake. They feature milkshake specials each month, and they are SO worth it. Make sure you save room for one! The prices are consistent with diner prices, and the portions are large for the price point. Caveats: Read the signage wherever you park. The Main Street area of Farmingdale has a lot of parking, but each lot/meter may have its own rules. Also, the diner is not a large venue, and the waiting area is small. Be prepared to stand, or even wait outside. Whatever you choose to eat, I promise it will be worth it! read more

This place has been hyped FOREVER to me, and I finally got to try it. I'm not sure what I was expecting exactly, I think maybe a bit nicer of an interior? But it really is just a regular diner. I was very surprised that everyone in my family talks about this place like it's the best ever. Menu is huge, and pretty cool that they have special seasonal menus, a lot of what sounded interesting to try. I was debating between a few things, but ultimately went with the chicken souvlaki. I was hoping for a great sandwich, especially with the Greek Key paper placemats, but what arrived was in no way a traditional souvlaki. The chicken was wrong, huge chunks, no grilled char, some pieces gristley. Also a bit confused at the dressing on it when it should have been tzatziki. I think it was some sort of vinaigrette. The pita was thick and dry, definitely generic bagged pita. Feta was sparce as well. Fries were fine. Tried a bite of their tuna sandwich which was good. I had a gift card that I wanted to use at this place. For some reason I thought they wouldn't look like a usual diner based on the videos I saw on social media. But it looks like a regular diner when you look in, except for the fact that they have an outdoor area. The food is unlike "typical" diner food though. I would say it's slightly elevated that regular diner food, and their price reflects that. I decided to get the lobster tacos. They were huge and packed with so much lobster cabbage, and other toppings. I actually ate only one, and saved the other one for the next day cause the portions were huge. I wanted to have a better experience than I did. My party of three each ordered a variation of a hamburger, and all of them were surprisingly underwhelming - especially given the restaurant's reputation. Additionally, the bathroom was very poorly maintained, we had to ask twice before the paper towels were replaced. More concerning, though, was the seating. Our table, along with two other parties, was placed in the back by the kitchen. All three groups were Black Americans. While I can't know the intent behind the seating assignments, the pattern was difficult to ignore and left an uncomfortable impression. If you don't know why this is problematic, I'd recommend reading more history books. A great dining experience is about more than the food - it's also about making guests feel equally welcome and valued. Unfortunately, this visit missed the mark on both fronts. If equitable hospitality matters to you, or if you're simply looking for an exceptional burger, I'd encourage you to explore other options. read more

We went to Whiskey Down on a Sunday around 1pm. There were a number of people waiting to be seated. The hostess greeted us immediately and told us it would be about 15 minutes for a party of 2 inside. We had a seat in front of the hostess stand and waited to be called. As parties pf all sizes filtered in and out, the hostess proceeded to seat another couple of 2 who had walked in 2 minutes earlier and completely forgot about us. She apologized taking full responsibility for the mix up, which we appreciated. But then we had to wait another 7ish minutes before another table was available. After being seated it took about 4-5 minutes for a server to come to our table. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. The table was clean, bathrooms were clean and they even had seating outdoors with umbrellas which was nice. The food was good, but like everything else took a very long time to come out. The best thing we had was the chicken Cesar Sando. They were also sold out of some of the items on the menu. Overall it was a fine experience. The food was fine, the place was cute, but the wait times for seating and food and service was nothing I have seen before at other similar establishments. I've been here a couple times and the food and service is always great. The "seasonal" chicken ceasar sando is a MUST TRY and they need to make it a permanent menu item already. Pro tip: get a side of ceasar to dip your fries in and thank me later! I do have two (relatively minor) qualms about this place: 1. Some of dishes incorporate a LOT of different flavors which can be off putting at times. Most recently, I got the Ultimate BEC sandwich which I felt was ruined by an overly sweet bacon onion jam that came on it. Be sure to check each ingredient of your dish because the sweetness was unexpected and I would have enjoyed the sandwich a lot more without it. 2. The Heinz ketchup at the table isn't really Heinz which I find misleading and dangerous (for allergy and cross-contamination purposes). The ketchup also came out brown and was really not tasty. In my opinion, a diner should always have quality ketchup and the cost saving for the restaurant cannot be worth the poor taste/false advertising. Overall, worth checking out for their popular menu items. Just bring your own ketchup! read more

Stopped by today after seeing their boozy iced coffee flight on TikTok and was not disappointed! There was a 25 minute wait but our server was super attentive once we were sat. The seating was all booths with a full bar. Please also be mindful that this diner is located in a busy Main Street in town where there's a lot of foot traffic and parking was mainly on one side of the street with metered lots surrounding the area. I loved the chicken parm allá vodka fries! The chicken wasn't as crispy but as you can see the whole order was just smothered in cheese which surprisingly wasn't overwhelming. The boneless wings were more on the popcorn chicken side in terms of size but their chipotle bbq sauce was amazing. It did miss the mark and I would love to see more of the heat from the chipotle come through. All in all would recommend if you find yourself in the Farmingdale, NY area. read more
