Came here with family and we all enjoyed! We each got a different type of omelette, Cobb, Ruben, broccoli and cheese, cheddar cheese, plain and someone also ordered pancakes. Everyone stated how great everything tasted! I ordered the Cobb omelette which had bacon, avocado and cheddar and it was delicious! Omelettes were severed with a choice of potato; tator tots, fries or home fries. We all basically had one of each and again, all delicious! Coffee was great too, and never empty. Okay, now I love this place, i wouldn't change anything about it. That was before they changed their french fry recipe. I have a medical condition called PKU, where I can't break down protein like everyone else. I've eaten at this diner for as long as i've been in farmingdale, and at most restaurants, french fries are usually the only things i can eat when going out because of it being gluten free and lower in protein. Their fries were the only things i was able to eat there, but I can't anymore because the fries are coated in some sort of breading, which is dangerous for me to eat. I know many other people who are disappointed with this, and especially others who are gluten free or have extremely strict dietary restriction/requirements. It's really sad that I can't eat here anymore when places i can eat at are so scarce. The fact that the recipe change wasn't made known to us was very disappointing as well. If you get an order to go, they charge you a higher price, 50 cents more for each item to cover the cost of the tin pan. There's nothing on the menu advising you of this extra charge. You also need to double-check your order because I ordered the Herb Crusted Salmon salad, which was supposed to be over baby spinach with feta cheese blueberries, of which none was included. Picked up dinner to go last night and it was so worth not having to cook. The California paninis were delicious, and the chicken was cooked perfectly and super moist. The burgers were cooked to perfect medium and not overdone, even with a 10 minute ride home. The fries were still crisp and not soggy. Just really, really good food with generous portions. First time dining here. the reason we came was for the special characters they have for young kids. My son had an absolute blast and I think it's really great idea they do this. However, it did become extremely crowded and bit overwhelming the place isn't that big to begin with. Staff and waiter were great and food was just okay. I was disappointed when they brought my kids chicken tenders and fries out they ONLY gave 3 medium size chicken tenders I mean for 13 Dollars they can at least give 5 or 6. We went to this diner for decades with my in-laws and it was always good. We came back to town for a funeral, had breakfast there (arguably the easiest meal to make) and it was awful. The eggs were runny, omelettes undercooked (one accidentally had noodles in it-- not sure how that happened at 8am) and the hash browns were more onion and pepper than potatoes. We didn't complain at the time because we honestly didn't think it would help. We paid the bill and just got out of there with most of the food still in the table. These are obviously different owners. They're advertising meals with Disney characters to try to attract families with little kids, but they need to focus on improving their food and not gimmicks. read more

The outside of this diner looks a little dated. The inside, like an old fashioned diner is clean. The prices were extremely high compared to other local diners and the food was average, with the portions on the smaller size. There is an up-charge for everything and they only have breakfast specials during the week. We ordered Lox, Eggs and onions with egg whites, turkey bacon, Spanish omelette and rye toast. I added a small tomato juice (which was very expensive), the price was at least $15 more than their competitors, and honestly not worth it. The Spanish omelette was watery and leaked all over the plate. The home fries were good. The toast, a little burnt. The LEO was average and nothing to run back here for. The turkey bacon was very good. The staff was very friendly and the coffee service is better then most local diners. The same breakfast we've had in local diners came to about $32-34. We stopped by on Christmas Eve for a late breakfast. We ended up getting some OJ, pancakes, avacado toast and a Italian omelette with home fries. I thought the pancakes were really good and so was the syrup which didn't taste like that normal diner syrup. The Italian omelette with home fries was good and had a good amount of meat, cheese and tomato in it. The avacado toast on the other hand was just blah and could've used some flavor to it. Let's begin with showing up to the diner for one of the themed Saturday mornings to meet the characters. We showed up with two children and three adults and were shoved into a booth. We wanted more of a theme to occur, like maybe part of the menu? Decorations? Grasp the attention of the kids. They attempted to put it on the tv but it turned into Sophia the first and sonic (both not the theme). Even play the music of the theme?!? Anything?! Ok now let's get into the characters... when you walk up toward the kids please don't play with your masks and body suits and show off your neck or make it look as if you're about to take the head of the costume off because us as parents would've had a heart attack and the kids would be traumatized if they saw, so word of advice. Don't touch the costumes - and to the staff stop talking to the people in costumes (it's who we came to see, and be in character mode). Staff wise our server rocked, food wise pretty damn tasty. Today was our first visit for the Mario event. They made the event so special for the kids with Mario coloring pages for the table, Mario balloons for the kids, rings/crowns, and a free milk shake for the kids. The characters were so sweet and came around multiple times and took pictures! We will for sure be back for more character events!! Not only was the experience great, the food was excellent! This place is DIRTY! I was looking for a restaurant to go with friends from out of town close to where they would be saying. Unfortunately, I was deceived by all the good reviews so I am writing this HONEST review to warn other potential patrons. Upon walking in, you can see that the place isn't cleaned often. The bench I was sitting on looked dusty/grimy. The waiter brought me coffee and there was something orange (a carrot peel? something else?) towards the top of the cup, betraying the fact that the cup was NOT WASHED or at least not washed thoroughly enough for service to a person. I informed the waiter and he argued with me, asking me to show him the dirty spot! Eventually he gave me a new cup of coffee. Before this telling discovery, I made the huge mistake of ordering eggs at this filthy establishment. Since then, I've had stomach upset and several restroom visits....something tells me the eggs were either not stored properly or not cooked properly. STAY AWAY. read more

I ordered a pizza, burger and what I was served was a regular burger with mozzarella cheese with a side of the cheapest marinara sauce I've ever had. I cannot believe that I had to pretty much make my own pizza burger at my table. You can tell no love put into preparing my food. I ordered a calamari to go for my fiancée to bring her something and I couldn't believe the amount of calamari they gave me. As I am writing my review, I'm eating the calamari and it's soggy, if you look at how many pieces they gave me I only received 14 calamari rings, and I paid I believe $12.50 for this. The burger was mediocre. The best thing about my plate was the waffle fries. Good thing I ordered a Coke. the service was OK. In this place, you have to pay on your way out and the Greek owner or whoever he was couldn't help, but rush me out telling me to write any number on the receipt and snatching it out of my hand, we look each other in the eyes for maybe five seconds I couldn't believe how I was treated on my way out. The ambience of the restaurant itself is a regular degular diner it looks like any other one I've ever been to, but definitely would not be coming back here. The only reason I don't give it a lower rating is because it's a place that you can go to get something at decent to eat that's open till 12 around this area but definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anybody. Thanksgiving at a DINER??? Never thought it would happen to me... and my family as well, but it did. My work schedule, my wife's & even my son's made it impossible to have a home-cooked meal this Thanksgiving. We found ourselves at The Farmingdale Diner on Hempstead Tpke in Farmingdale. Upon entering, it smelled very good, just like a Thanksgiving should smell. Just like grandma's house. We were not disappointed with the menu. The turkey was moist. The stuffing was not out of a box like at home. It was cooked from scratch with apples, rasins, and cornbread. Yams, broccoli, soups, pies cappuccinos, and more. Everything was delicious. The server made us feel welcome, and we had a good time with him. He suggested things from the extensive menu that I did not even see the first time through. We are back again tonight to have more of the top shelf food that they serve. Not just a diner. The new owners come from a catering background, and it shows. I was happy to see that I can take out a large meal with all the trimmings for when we have guests over the house. I will happily take the compliments for the food! My food has just been put on the table, and that will conclude this review. This is our new go- to place! read more

Hi friends, welcome to the Farmingdale Diner. My favorite Diner on Long Island has had a change of ownership. It's no longer owned by Steve and staffed by his 4 Brothers. I've been here 6 times since their change of hands. Mostly my visits are for breakfast, as it's just about still the best meal anywhere. I have noticed some changes in the dinner service and aviance however. I really love my Long Island Diner and I'm very small business-friendly. That being said, I also have a responsibility to my yelpers. I can't have a previous 5-star review describe this venue when it's no longer appropriate. I can still very much recommend the most wonderful breakfasts here. This relaxing experience has not changed. The breakfast is still top-notch, the sausage and ingredients have not changed. I pair my eggs with their delicious Hollandaise sauce (+$2). There's a higher level of hospitality and service that I'm accustomed to here during breakfast. My dinner experience Sunday night's experience was different than any I'd had. Sitting down, I immediately noticed the difference. Usually Billy sits me at the booth in the corner, knows exactly what I want & brings everything to the table without a word needed. It was uncomfortable being a stranger now in a place I have visited hundreds of times. You now must ask for the extras that are included with your meals, because they are no longer automatically provided. After a few minutes I noticed I was not asked if I wanted the complimentary glass of wine and I was not given my bread basket, I was not given my side dishes of beets, coleslaw or the garbanzo beans. When I asked for these items, my servers response was .."oh you want that? I don't know if they do that anymore". I told my server that these items were mandatory. She searched for them for a little while and I believe opened some fresh cans for me. A chill ran down my spine! These are the included amenities expected by "EVERYONE", all of your regular customers are accustomed to these automatically included with your dinner specials for many years. They would include a basket of bread, complimentary glass of wine, pickled beets, chilled pasta and beans, coleslaw, pickles. (Check my previous photos) These complementary items, were traditionally brought without customers having to uncomfortably ask for them. Usually there's a wait line for Sunday night dinner. I was able to park and immediately, sit down without waiting. Now I know why. Just a few months ago this place was packed. Now it's empty of the regular customers. In 6 months, I can't believe they went downhill so quickly. I called Farmingdale Diner before rewriting my review and was hung up on 4 times? That was a first. How can your struggling restaurant be so comfortable hanging up on their cu$tomers? There's never a second chance to make a first impression. Hire & maintain a professional greeter to be the voice and first impression of your business. They handle telephone calls, respond to social media, coordinate deliveries. I made suggestions to help return the positive experiences here. I didn't recognize the taste of my Caesar salad from different greens and dressing. Please don't change anything. Stick what with what has worked many years. Please conduct a retraining of your evening Staffing. Don't let the Busboys noisily Clank dishes in back of your customers while bussing the tables. Put a towel on top of the tray, it helps to muffle the noises. Recognize your regular customers and lavish the attention on them that they're accustomed to here. Low-cost UV light traps will capture the flies that now land on the food. Train the staff not to be loud about issues, so your customers can't hear. Make sure the Bread Basket comes with hot, fresh pieces of bread. Please bring back the delicious breadsticks. When a glass of wine is included with the meal, please ask your customers if they would like it. Don't make us have to ask for what was included. The appetizers included need to be immediately brought to the tables without the customers asking. Don't have me have to get up after my meal is over and search for my check. My waitress was very aware of my displeasure as I mentioned the frequency of my former visits (200+) several times. Curiously, she didn't offer apologies or any dessert to compensate. I never saw her again at the conclusion of my meal. Thanks for offering me compensation in the future. Stopping back, for breakfast at Farmingdale Diner a few days later, everyone was so apologetic concerning my poor experience. Breakfast was wonderful as always and they simply would not accept my money or even write me a check for my meal in compensations. It seemed my poor experience may be narrowed to the actions of a new server. I am grateful this kind action earned an extra star returned to their review. read more
