My family of four did the afternoon whitewater rafting trip with Emily. The river was down, so the rapids were not as exciting. However, the views were spectacular and the swimming was fun. Emily was very focused on everyone's safety. The dry box is plenty big for your belongings, but you really only need a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and a water bottle. They have plenty of water on board for refills. She and Sam (driver) shared lots of good stories and history of the area. They recommended that we take scenic byway 128 back to Denver and I am so glad we did. read more

Went on a group where we got Josh as our tour guide. He was great! He even shared some of his personal (mis) adventures in the desert. Even got to row the raft in the calmer waters. It was hard at first, but once I got used to it, it became easy! The tour itself was fun. We got to see a part of the river that apparently is inaccessible by boat for most of the year. But since the river was flooded, we got to see that too and Josh explained the desert life there. I would recommend this tour as an introduction to the area and also to rafting in general. Don't waste your time making a reservation. We reserved a tour a month ago. We drove 1000 miles to Moab that revolved around this tour. They call us the DAY BEFORE our tour and cancelled. The explanation was they didn't have enough people reserve this tour. How many people can you fit in a jeep that you had to cancel? The people at Navtec are incredibly knowledgeable and treated us four like family. We were able to do a 5 day trip combining 4 x 4 travel into the Maze with day hikes each day and then a power boat ride back to Lake Powell. Brian created the perfect trip for our hiking levels (6-8 miles each hike) and then he guided us down to the Colorado river for an exciting rapids filled ride, captained by Colin. Some of our trails: Horseshoe Canyon to see the High Gallery and other petroglyphs, Panoramic Point, the Flint Trail, Teapot, Fireplace Rock and then the 8 mile loop down into gorgeous territory of the Maze, the Dollhouse and Spanish Bottom to our solid hulled power boat. The boat took us through over 20 sets of rapids: 3's, 4's and 5's....and we camped at Dark Canyon and hiked up to a series of waterfalls and pools the next day. I am left with great appreciation and gratitude for the guides, all of their skill and knowledge and their ability to create a safe and exciting, warm and friendly trip for us. THANK YOU! read more

We had a 4x4 White Rim Trail trip with Navtec in November 2016 and it was absolutely incredible. Our guide was very knowledgeable and talked about the park with great love and care. We saw out-of-this world beautiful natural structures looking like huge ruins of alien civilization, wildlife, arches, and we looked down from the bottom up and from top down on majestic canyons. Thanksgiving is the low season in Moab, with very few people and cheap airfares to Salt Lake City. We had an incredibly nice all-day tour over some of the worst "roads" I can even imagine, driven, described, and even catered by Matt. Elephant Hill route. My family and I travelled to Moab last year with my 3 yr. old daughter and we had an all day excursion planned with Navtek. our guide extraordinnaire was Rob. He.. was...FABULOUS! My daughter STILL talks about him. Her favorite line as we traveresed rough terrain and boulders "Faster, Mr. Robby, Faster"! We took a 1/2 day Canyonlands tour on July 23, 2020. The communication before our trip and up to the time they picked us up was good. A few questions back and forth and they responded quickly. I like that. The tour was exactly what we were looking for and it provided many spectacular views and photos ops. We traveled on dirt roads that are well defined but not a lot of traffic. We saw other Navtec vehicles but they have exclusive permission for some of the route, so it is less traveled. Good news is there are restrooms along the route and we stopped a couple of times for bio breaks. What makes a good tour great is a confident and interesting guide. We had Josh B and he was fantastic! He knows quite a bit about the land, history and culture of the Moab area. And if he does not really know, he is great and making up! Ha! He is an interesting guy and it is worth requesting him as a guide. We would go on another tour with him in a heartbeat! I have not written enough about the landscape and the views. This tour truly provides some unbelievable scenes you cannot get by driving Canyonlands or Dead Horse Peak yourself. We know, we tried. I was at Dead Horse Peak 2 days before and I pointed at this remote dirt road way off in the distance and said "I wish we could go there". That is the exact road this tour goes on. IT IS AWESOME! Value for the money spent is off the charts! Ask for Josh B. Rule #1 is trust Josh...Rule #2 is trust Josh. Do it, you won't regret it. Also, tip your guides! I only say this because we were paired with another very nice couple who did not tip and I think it was that they did not know any better. They certainly had a good time and enjoyed the group. Tips are a big part of these people's income. For a trip like this, only if your tour was solid, $20 per person for good and $30 per person for great. Enjoy! read more

We took the morning 4x4 Canyonlands tour. Our group split up and both tour guides were fabulous. Half of us rode with Brandon who was guiding his first solo tour. He was incredibly knowledgeable and personable. We had a blast with him! Our senior travelers went with Mike, they also had a great time! They loved listening to his tall tales. We went out for a full day tour of Canyonlands park with Josh B last week and had a fantastic time! He really tailored the tour to what we wanted (we had been hiking in different parks and wanted a day where we could still experience the park without hiking 10 miles.) The tour of Canyonlands was spectacular, lots of great photo ops and we learned a ton about the park and geology from Josh. I would recommend to anyone, definitely a highlight of the trip. read more

Most exciting part of our trip so far. Chris was an excellent guide. We learned more about the Canyonlands than we would have ever thought to know. This area of the US is very diverse with plant life and wildlife and you feel very small in the presence of such beauty. We took a Navtec RHIB 1 day trip through Canyonlands National Park's Cataract Canyon and ending in Lake Powell. Through the entire experience we were met with extremely competent and knowledgable professionals who's love of the area was readily apparent. We took our trip out of Moab, Utah in July 2018 when the water level in the Colorado was down. Boy were we lucky! Due to tricky sand bar conditions we were forced to start our expedition 25 miles down river from the original start point. That prompted an off road 4x4 drive through Island in the Sky National Park through some wild country. Our guide Buzz was very knowledgable about the geology, natural history, and legends of the area. When we arrived at the river we made our final preparations and met our guide, Brian. He went over all safety procedures and was open to every concern. This is where things turned up a notch. The Colorado meandered in the upper part of the trip depositing shallow sandbars almost randomly. Brian navigated through them with a big smile and a maniacal laugh, almost like an insane pirate with nothing to lose! We did encounter a couple of tricky dots here and there but nothing that our expert guide couldn't handle. Brian pointed out Native American ruins, natural features and animals along the way. Since we did so well on time, Brian offered us a side hike over a saddle that had great views of the river bending around it. We took the impromptu hike and were not disappointed. We rode down the river a few more miles then donned PFDs jumped into the river for a leisurely float while Brian prepared the boat for the rapids. He informed us we would be running 32 sets of rapids from class I to IV+ and what to do in emergencies. Then, with a hearty laugh, he hurled us into the rapids. I have been around boats all my life and never would have believed it if I hadn't been through it. Brian was exceptional in his ability to drop us into whitewater, let nature's wrath fall upon us and get us out again. I could not believe the beating that the boat endured. Yet it still performed all the way down the river. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who wants to explore the beauty of Canyonlands National Park from the river vantage point. Navtec balances adventure with stewardship of this unique area. They are well prepared for "Murphy's Law" and true professionals that made for a remarkable experience. I would recommend them to anyone interested in this trip and would do it again without hesitation. read more

Booked a sunset tour of Arches National Park for five people: my 73-year-old mother-in-law (grandma), wife, me, and our two girls (11, 12). Booking was easy, check in was painless, and the front desk staff was so nice. The Land Cruiser felt more than capable and safe. As comfortable as you're going to get while riding over tough, technical trails/rocks. The tour was amazing! The park is beyond gorgeous. We saw parts of it very few ever see. Bring water bottles and they can refill while on the trails. MC, our guide and driver, was an absolute rock star! Because of him, we have a lifetime of wonderful memories. Totally worth the $$. Now, more about our awesome guide... MC was friendly and we hit it off from the very beginning. He asked some great questions to better understand our expectations for the tour, where we're from, what else we're doing in Moab, etc. Throughout the tour he shared his deep knowledge of the park - the geologic history/science, the plant species, how and when the park was created, the important role a local doctor played, etc. He encouraged questions. Based on his long experience in outdoor rec, he knew a great deal about the entire Colorado Plateau. On the trails, he was safety conscious and gave helpful advice on routes and techniques for the terrain. He was also super great with grandma and the kids. He helped the kids feel confident and made sure grandma had what she needed/was comfortable. He knew A LOT about the trails, arch formations, park features, surrounding mountain ranges, geography, etc. MC also gave us a ton of excellent recommendations for the rest of our vacation. He helped us prioritize our remaining time for Arches and Canyonlands. When we told him we planned to drive to Santa Fe after our time in Moab, he recommended going through Ouray, CO. Wow! Without this pro tip we would have missed the gorgeous, breathtaking scenic route through Colorado via Ouray and the Million Dollar Road. Bottom line, MC made the tour, and our time in Arches/Moab, a truly amazing and wonderful experience! NavTec is lucky to have him and we'll always be grateful MC was our guide. WOW!!!!! Everything from the guides, to the informative drive, to the river cruise itself was so much fun!!! We had an all out water fight with our neighboring tour boat which lead into surrounding boats on the river. We couldn't stop smiling at the scenery and our guide Spencer was amazing. The rafting tour was absolutely incredible. On a professional level the guides (shoutout to Spencer and Danny) were so kind, professional, knowledgeable, and well versed in their craft. They made us feel so safe while still getting some awesome thrills from the tour. Where they really stood out though was socially. Both Spencer and Danny were so funny and brought the whole boat together so we ended up making some pals and just really enjoying the whole experience. Mike was so fun and knowledgeable and a great story teller, He took us to areas that we never would have seen on our own. My sister and friend did a 2 day cataract canyon rafting trip and 3 days of canyoneering. The rafting trip was unique in that we used one of their special motorized rafts that allowed us to cover 100 miles quickly. Our guide Gunner was really fun and sweet, and showed us some cool hikes with ancient Pueblo art, petrified wood, and fossils. He got so excited to take us over the rapids. In the motorized boat you can hit the big Class V rapids with little risk of falling out or flipping. In the future I might try the slower paddle boats but this quick trip was perfect for our time frame. After rafting we met our skilled and hilarious canyoneering guide Mike, who is one of those wild west characters you won't forget. He took us to Hogwarts, Leprechaun Canyon, and Robber's Roost. The canyoneering was fun and beautiful and Mike made us great meals and had lots of funny stories to share. We were in fitter and faster than most of NAVTECs guest, so we finished our canyoneering earlier in the day, but we went hiking one afternoon and had great time playing on the "mushrooms" at Goblin State Park another day. Next time I would want to do one of their harder trips like Bluejohn Canyon. read more

We've rafted a LOT, all over the US.... Our guide had zero personality and talked like a robot- not the personality we normally have in a guide. In addition, he had TERRIBLE body odor, & we were made to ride in an enclosed van for a 3 hour round trip with him, and sat behind him on the raft & smelled his body odor all day long! The scenery on this trip was beautiful, tho the rafting wasn't the action we were hoping for our 12-14 year old boys--only 1/3 of the trip even had rapids and they were moderate. This was an ore trip where the guide did all the paddling, and his ores were definitely in need of wd-40.... every time he paddled they made a horrible squeaking noise. Between the squeaking ores, the body odor, dud of a rafting guide, and the lack of action, it was hard to justifying spending an entire day of our vacation with this company. read more

I had to row the raft into the head wind because he couldn't do it, the food was terrible, and I actually had to search for him when he got lost on a hike. They should have paid me for taking the guide instead of visa versa. What a joke! Don't use this company. You are endangering your life. My husband and I did the full day jeep/rafting tour. It was my first time in Moab and we couldn't find better tour guides! Johnny was our tour guide on the jeep tour and he was amazing! He knew so much about Canyon Lands and the surrounding areas! He was friendly and funny. The rafting tour, although on the "slow rapids season" was exciting and fun! The tour guides really wanted everyone to have a great time! When we go back, we will use Navtec! read more
