My first time white water rafting. Our guides were Will and Travis. Both were outstanding guides! Full of info and interesting bits of history regarding Moab. Half way through the trip we stopped for lunch and they made delicious chicken wraps. After lunch we continued on down the river for an exciting ride! River was low but we still had 3's and one 4 class for rapids. The scenery was breathtaking!! We rode with Will in the paddle boat and he was an excellent guide. We had the greatest time with Bridger on the river (Smooth Bridgerator for sure!). The trip itself is gorgeous, and Bridger did all the work, we just got to sit back and relax. But he kept us entertained and informed and did a terrific job making sure we all got the splashes that made it fun. We will definitely return to do Westwater (Bridger says Westwater is the Bestwater) and if we're lucky we'll also get Shaggy as our shuttle driver again. Thanks for the tip on the Historic Marker! I've been wanting to take the family to Moab for years, but they had work and school so I decided to go on a 'fact finding' week trip to know where to go and what to do when we came back with the whole family (ok, ok - so I went so I could do what I wanted and wouldn't hear any complaints from the teenagers). I lined up a Canyonlands 1/2 day tour w Navtec Expeditions. WOW..What a Great choice (lucky for me)! Their office is centrally located in Moab (walking distance from my hotel) and close to where our tour started (The Petroglyphs just outside of the main st into Moab). Our tour went into Canyonlands NP 'the back way' (via permit w the NP) and was mostly on the bottom 1/3 of the Canyon so we got to see a part of Canyonlands that most others view from above. It was AMAZING every time we came around a corner and the pics or vids don't do the views justice. In person is the only way to get the full experience. We eventually would our way up from near the canyon floor and the views on our way to the top were impressive. I would've given them 4.5 of 5 stars but that's not an option. The only reason I gave them 4 of 5 stars is because our tour guide/driver was not normally a 4x4 tour guide so we didn't get as much 'story/tour guiding' about the canyon until we got out and listened to the other driver who's 4x4 we trailed the whole tour. Our tour guide was a great guy, but I felt like we missed out compared to the people in the other 4x4s. Overall, it was a GREAT tour and I highly recommend using Navtec for the 1/2 day Canyonlands tour (or canyoneering, which also sounded awesome). We'll definitely use them when the whole family is in tow next time to Moab. read more

We did the 4X4/hike tour of The Needles in Canyonlands and it was AMAZING. Cannot say enough good things about Charlotte, our guide, or the tour itself. It was wonderful to visit a less crowded (literally saw 3 other people while we were out there) and get a view of the park that we wouldn't otherwise have gotten. Had a great 1/2 day trip today with Damon into Canyonlands!!! Although the drive looked treacherous, Damon was amazing!!! His knowledge of the history, geology, and culture of the area was punctuated by his humor. We thought we signed up for a slow sedate Canyonlands tour, and we quickly discovered that this was a highly kinetic joy ride on dirt roads through the park. I was so excited to go rafting in Moab. I called and checked their site and saw half-day RAFTING for $95. I didn't see the level of the falls. Upon calling (twice for questions and to book), they said it was class 1-2 rapids. They also confirmed it would be "paddle" rafting as opposed to motor rafting. I didn't mind that it wouldn't be an intense rafting experience, but was looking forward to paddling on the water. We got there, they gave us lunch (didn't see that on the itinerary and of course, I ate right beforehand so I missed out on this). Then we got in rafts and didn't touch a paddle. We floated for an hour and a half for almost $100 a person.... The guides were AMAZING! The view was incredible. But overall...I'm extremely disappointed and will have to I guess ask even more questions and specifics next time I try and plan a fun trip..I just felt like this was too much time and money to not actually get to raft. read more

My three siblings and I signed up for the 3day rafting trip through cataract canyon and I can easily say it was the greatest trip experience of my life. NAVTEC and specifically our guides Jonah and Keefe were hugely responsible for that experience (not to mention our lives). At the time of our trip, the river was only slightly lower than its highest level since 2011, and our guides kept our minds at ease, while drumming up excitement for the rapids. They navigated the Big Drops like the pros they are, and when we invariably had a few people pop out of the boat, they had us back on track within seconds. (Shout out to Brian, running the day trip rescue boat and our safety briefing - excellent all around. Also, Brian is the most responsible nutcase I've ever met). In short, this rafting experience was beyond wild, and a huge thanks to Jonah, Keefe, (and Brian) for taking us through. And the rafting was only the beginning. The side hikes during the trip added an entirely other layer to the experience. Seeing the canyon from a completely different perspective really solidified the trip, and Jonah's expertise in geology, anthropology, history, and botany gave us a context that would've otherwise let these sights pass right over our heads. In fact, after we were back in Moab, I proudly shared my Jonah knowledge about Mormon tea and potash mining to fellow onlookers at dead horse point. Camping in this environment was something I've always wanted to experience. And it far exceeded my wildest imagination. These campsites were breathtaking. I'll be honest - I wasn't sure how I felt about the level of service that Jonah and Keefe provided. I'm used to being the doer, not the one relaxing while dinner is being made. But we realized that we wouldn't have been able to fully enjoy our incredible surroundings if that work wasn't taken off our plate. Instead, a five star feast took its place, and we enjoyed ribs, mashed potatoes, rosemary zucchini and squash, Caesar salad with shaved parmesan, and garlic bread (not to mention the appetizer of mozzarella, tomato, and basil skewers with the vinaigrette drizzle). I'm not even kidding! And this was only one meal! And while we're munching away, amazed at the luxury experience, the surreal setting, and the cooking expertise of our guides, Jonah is sitting there playing and singing frontier classic tunes on his guitar. What!! This entire experience regularly went above and beyond, and that first night dinner really blew our minds. That scene will stick with me for a long long time - just like many on this trip. Not enough can be said about the unique and direct impact that Jonah and Keefe had on our trip and I wish other travelers the same fortune. (Side note - when we first arrived at the river put in, I realized I didn't have an SD chip in my go pro. Jonah didn't hesitate for a second to offer me his personal chip right out of his phone). But I also wish these guys the best of luck, wherever they end up (looking at you Jonah). NAVTEC is a great outfitter, and has been for a while - and I know they're also lucky to have Jonah and Keefe leading trips. Can't recommend this enough. read more

We were a party of eight so we were in 2 vehicles. Our guides were Ron and Bronson. What amazing guides. They took us place that we would have never been able to get up close to and had so much knowledge for the sites that were shown. We went through Canyonlands and then stopped for a great lunch provided by this company. Then off to the Arches to see more behind the scenes and or much closer then the average person gets too. Amazing experience going canyoneering for the first time. We had two tour guides, Mike and Bryan, who definitely made the experience. They both genuinely loved what they did and loved sharing it with new people. They divided our tour in two groups for the hikes based on the skill set so everyone enjoyed their experience. For the repelling we met up as a group again and helped one another out. The tour guides were super helpful with the explanations of how to do things and walking us through as we did it. This was truly a once in a life time experience and I'm so happy I had the tour guides I did. We even had lolly meet us at the end with electrolytes and oranges to rehydrate us before returning back to the office. Definitely worth the small price for this type of experience. read more

The crew at Navtec are so entertaining, knowledgeable, and super approachable . Blaine and Charlotte were fantastic tour guides, and I was super impressed at how great they handled the technical routes in the Land Cruisers. They made it look super easy! (And also made sure we were all safe and having a great time!) They even made us lunch at a gorgeous scenic view, and made sure to take pics of everyone and tell us all the little "secret" spots to look out for. We started at the petroglyphs, and then did the 4x4 backcountry tour in Canyonlands and then to went the back way to Arches for the gorgeous view. Blaine was incredibly informative of the landmarks and was also super funny and made sure to keep everyone laughing. Charlotte was a total badass at navigating the 4x4 trails and they both made sure that everyone was making the best possible memories while on this EPIC trip to Moab. In terms of full disclosure, I need to point out that we didn't pay to go on one of their excursions. We are short on cash due to covid and simply couldn't afford it. So, we are one of the poorer park visitors who carefully planned our Moab excursions, read and complied with all the information about permits and rules regarding service dogs (I have a chronic health condition with seizures and I had to bring my well behaved officially certified service dog). We spent months researching our trip and spent well over an hour meeting with local park rangers to make sure we had all the proper permits etc and that we were properly educated on how to have minimal impact on the beautiful terrain. However, at EVERY corner on the canyon 4 wheel drive trails, there was a Navtec tour car of some sort - I lost count at 10 Navtec cars full of people. They would barely yield to let passing cars by and they certainly never waved, unlike all the other vehicles we passed. I understand that perhaps the Navtec guides feel a sense of personal ownership over Arches and Canyonlands but based on my experiences with them during this trip I found this attitude is taken to an extreme, with them being self righteous, rude and condescending in every single interaction I had with them. Sorry Navtec guys, I know it is hard to swallow, but the national parks aren't just for Navtek's personal use and personal profit. You gotta share, you don't own it nor are you the designated park police - your vigilantism isn't appropriate. Perhaps Navtec should spend some time on education of their OWN employees to be more careful when they pull their Jeep's off the road to prep their for-hire bicyclists. In at least three instances, they took up the ENTIRE turnout with their rigs and bikes, water jugs, etc. And, on top of their clear violation of basic road courtesies, the tour guides felt compelled to approach our vehicle (which was stopped so Navtek could clear off the road to let us pass) and give us the third degree about whether we had a trip permit. Yes, we have a trip permit, and forest service park approval and a permit for my service dog, (who was kept in the vehicle at all times during the tour). We were driving a 4 wheel drive jeep, and yes, we are staying on designated roads. As a local business, this Navtec represents the local businesses, culture and communities, and their overbearing, reprimanding interactions with visitors is completely out of line. I get it, there are stupid people that do stupid things in the National park periodically, and it is necessary to speak up to avert a serious problem. However, not EVERYONE fits into the category of an idiot, and ultimately Navtec way oversteps their boundaries with their gestapo-like behavior and interaction with the public. Personally, they would be the last tour group I would go with due to their overbearing, self righteous attitude. read more

One of the greatest experiences Utah has to offer! First off, this was my first time travelling to Moab, let alone rafting! I went with a group of about 7 and we decided to do the full day trip. Reservations to do this are required ahead of time and ours started at 9am and it ended about 5pm. We chose the level 2 and 3 tour. It starts at $74 per adult and trust me, it's well worth the adventure. The staff was very friendly and gave us all the information we would need before we departed up the canyon to get to the beginning of the tour. There, we were given our life-jackets and taught what to do in certain situations. We chose the inflatable boat and we all chose to paddle. You go through the canyon and the guide on the boat with you, instructs you when to paddle. The view down this river is just beautiful, there is a waterproof bag you're allowed to bring along that you can carry things like your phone or camera in. I was able to get some amazing shots while we hit the calmer spots of the river. During the middle of the trip there's a nice lunch they have setup for you so you can sit by the river and enjoy the view. Our guides name was Hyrum and he was great! He gave us lots of awesome information about the river and told us when we could get out of the boat to swim around. He also let us know about a cliff diving spot not too far from where the Navtec office is located. Very cool guide, I'd recommend to inquire him as your guide and check if he's available. read more

While on Elephant Hill trail, a couple of NavTech Toyota Land Cruisers came up behind us while we were doing an obstacle on our way out of the park. The first driver said "You're in my damn way". While attempting to pull out of the way, the second Land Cruiser came up. He wouldn't wait and just cut in front of me. Both vehicles had passengers and both drivers were extremely rude. Some of us don't get to drive this trail on a regular basis. Your drivers need to drop the attitude. Also, they were each going fast enough that both scraped the bottom of the vehicles on the obstacle. read more

We did the 4x4 land tours for both Arches and Canyonlands national parks on last Moab visit. Both tours were amazing.

My dad and I went on a trip out to Moab back in July and booked a full day rafting trip through NAVTEC. The whole day was great thanks to their awesome hospitality. Our guide Reed was knowledgeable about the area and had a genuine excitement about life. We were the only full day people so the whole experience felt personalized. All of the guides were friendly and helpful. The lunch was fresh and really good and gave everyone a chance to meet people from various places and backgrounds. Although it was a beautiful scenic VERY chill raft ride down the gorgeous Colorado River. Many of us, my crew and the other passengers included had very different expectations of the ride. Just be aware that this is NOT A THRILL SEEKERS TOUR. It was a lazy river ride with great views. They take professional photos right at the end with one of the two barely level 1 rapids. read more
