The beach area is really nice and clean...inside the restaurant its really smelly seems no one is cleaning it.this place needs updating the owner needs to ne changed as the place deserves a better looking restaurant and just please clean it, floor smells like garbage inside the restaurant...lost our appetite we Didnt eat there,i changed time of my reservation supposed to be ouside but they put us inside...wow and the host needs to be changed as well rude... We made reservations for 4 people at Navy Beach several days out. They only take reservations 14 days in advance. I booked ours 10 days in advance and could only get 5:45pm or 8:45pm. I took the 5:45pm. You need to book the reservation with a credit card. There is a $50 no show fee per person if you do not cancel before 24 hrs. The restaurant is located next to condominiums on the beach. We were stopped by a security guard when we turned onto the road. If we did not have a reservation, we would not be allowed in. We valet parked. We were seated right away indoors and were shocked to see the dining room was empty. As a matter of fact, we were the only table in the restaurant for at least 20 minutes. There are picnic tables outside. The outdoors was pretty crowded. We ordered drinks from the bar that were not so great. We wanted to place our appetizer order first and then order dinner. We were told we had to put our full order in all at once. The meal was decent...not worth the price by any means. At the end of the evening the waiter asked us if we wanted to order coffee which we did. Come to find out they were out of coffee.....out of coffee?? Are you kidding me? He offered us cappuccino's instead which we agreed to. The cappuccino's were served in a regular coffee cup at $7 per cup. The sunset is spectacular and that is what you are paying for. We still cannot understand why the only reservation we could get was 5:45 since 85% of the tables in the restaurant were empty the entire time we were there. In the end....it was a $500 sunset. The menu is very limited. Portions are Very small. Pricey!! There is nothing on the menu that children would eat. If you want to sit outside, plan on walking across rocks & pebbles. The one nice thing about this restaurant is that it is on the water and it has a beautiful sunset. The Calamari was served on sweet potatoes , the chilled shrimp had TINY little pieces of shrimp loaded with Parmesan cheese. No taste. The pan seared scallops had no taste, other than Very fishy. expensive considering the size of the portion. If you are looking for a beautiful view and cocktails only, I highly recommend going to Navy Beach. My boyfriend and I came to Navy Beach on our vacation to Montauk! We sat at the bar because they didn't have enough tables outside. It worked out because outside got chilly after the sun went down anyways! We got to still go out and watch the sunset and enjoy the ambiance! AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING food! The location of this restaurant is the only reason I would consider returning. While the food and drink were good, management was abrasive and rude. Seemed a little silly that people in the service industry would be dismissive to a large group, which did include children, that ordered a lot of food and beverages. Next year, I'll support another establishment that has a more gracious approach to all. read more

We were charged $420.00 for reservation cancelation fees in error. We showed up on Friday but cancelled our Sunday reservation 24 hours as we did not care for the food on Friday. I visit Montauk at least one a year and have dinner here at least once each visit out east. I have noticed a decline in both the food and service over the years. My last experience offered unacceptable customer service and severe stomach aches for myself and all my friends! This was the last straw for me and I will no longer be bringing my business here. Overall you can expect very lousy service and high end junk food. If you are just going to view the sunset here I would recommend it; but if you are looking for quality food, good service and a view I would recommend checking out Ruschmeyers, Gurneys or the Surf Lodge. If you are insistent on wanting to see the sunset here I would suggest coming at sunset, grabbing a drink and then heading out so you don't waste your time and money. Hope this helps! read more

You need to inform your customers that there is potential that you could be sitting with another family when you are seated outside. We were seated outside, had a reservation, and then another family joined us. There was no room on table for anyone's food. It was awkward and not a nice experience when your paying 200$ for a dinner. At least have the courtesy to tell your patrons, BEFORE you seat them, that they could be dining with other people. Have been here several times, always was great & a great atmosphere!! Had a reservation tonight & I called ahead see if they can accommodate my child who has multiple food allergies. Simple plain lettuce (salad) & asked if they can make a hamburger cooked separately. If a kitchen is unsure they can safely make 100% appreciate the honesty!! However to be told you are too busy to put plain lettuce, together & can't make any changes to a menu, kitchen won't accommodate is absurd! The hamburger no problem! Lettuce! We tried to get a table and bar service but were told that we were to get a drink at the bar inside and grab a chair or picnic table. We did just that and decided to order food. Waiters and waitresses kept passing us with no assistance. When we asked for menus the hostess was rude telling us that it would take $3,000 to reserve a table. This is my go to in Hamptons / Montauk! Best food clam & corn chowder has me salivating fried calamari off the charts, seafood bucket fabulous whole lobster with clams shrimp corn potatoes at a reasonable price menu is great so much more to menu than what's seen on yelp & a great value blows away "LUNCH" & SURF LODGE ambience FANTASTIC real cool vibe music inside & outside. Outside is not just picnic tables also big cushioned outside sofas with low tables & umbrellas! Martin the owner made us feel like family! I would drive out to the END just for this ! Not to mention the BEST RESTARAUNT FOR SUNSETS in Montauk! Navy Beach donates to the Navy Seals ! If you want chill crowd go at 6:00 seating if you want younger crowd probably 8:00 seating ! Beautiful scene and best vantage point for sunset, but not so great at the hostess station. Despite most all of the outdoor tables being empty, the robot hostess insisted we had to sit with strangers. Of course our family of 4 was there to be with each other, not strangers, but this concept was not understood by the unfriendly young lady "helping" us. She could not explain why they dont take reservations for outside seating, but there was no wait list (even though there was no one else waiting). Extremely frustrating and we were about to leave when I noticed an empty table for 4. Reluctantly, Ms. Hostess "allowed" us to sit there...but not without a roll of the eyes, a sour puss, and some stink eye for good measure. Had a 6 pm reservation this past Wednesday the 23rd , showed up at 5 55 , the host at the door , burton or Barton i believe his name was asked my name and reservation time , then received a call that he stayed on for approximately 3 to 4 minutes before he realized i was getting angry , called a waitress ovr to sit us without evr saying a word to us , we ordered our food and wine at approximately 6 15 it arrived at the table at 6 20 , my scallops were cold the mac n cheese appetizer had oil at the bottom of the bowl and it tasted like it sat for a day , 3 dishes out in 5 minutes tells u they don't cook to order , had our ck at 6 30 and out the door , nice view , garbage food and horrible service. read more

Perfect spot for lunch on the beach with kids! They have beds and sofas on the bay beach directly. Makes you instantly feel like you are in another world! Food was very good- for 2 adults and 2 kids we had calamari salad with scallops as well as fried chicken and a side of fries. Chicken came with breast, thigh and leg- breading was crispy with a nice sweet salty flavor. Could have been juicier. The calamari salad was a nice shareable size- the dressing was good but a little too sweet for my taste. The scallops were grilled very well. While Navy Beach has some of the best views in Montauk, and a serene coastal look and feel, it's unfortunate that's about where the positive elements end. My friends and I dined here on Friday with a 6:45pm reservation we made weeks in advance, and i was excited to go back because we had a good meal with great ambiance here last year. The second we sat down, we felt incredibly rushed and experienced rude service despite the fact that we were paying top premium prices for food (over $40 for halibut? I don't even pay that much in the city and this ain't Jean Georges). The hostess who sat us was friendly, along with the first bus guy who brought us our water. Our server was appallingly bad, and never introduced himself or made us feel comfortable or welcomed. Instead, we were gruffly told we had to order all at once and "were we ready?" and a look of disdain when we ordered two apps and a meal each and multiple drinks. The last time i checked, service was about a friendly face and demeanor, and to make your guests feel good to be in your establishment. I got the sense this place wanted people scooted in and out - unless they were a party of 10 dropping a thousand dollars minimum. Ironically- hospitality and customer service 101- people tend to spend more time and money when they're having fun and enjoying themselves and feel welcomed. we would have easily ordered a bottle or more - had we not been rushed because the restaurant was trying to flip tables before sunset. Remember: you never know who's sitting in your restaurant or who people know, and who does what for work (what if your dinner guest off duty could mean your client the next - it's NYC and the Hamptons people, many of us work in the media and event industry) so it pays to be kind and customer-service oriented, which Navy Beach sadly was not this year. No one wants to feel like they're at a snobby nightclub when they're relaxing with friends and family beginning their weekend. I should have read the reviews before going! Silly me! I actually chose this restaurant because it was so close to where we were staying, we could ride our bikes over and yes, for the sunset. The experience was pretty terrible and we wanted to run out of there without paying the bill! The food is less than mediocre at exorbitant prices. I mean, stale fries that leave that greasy feeling in your mouth, tasteless tuna cut into large, chunky, extra tasteless cubes, 1/2 an avocado with overly fried tortilla chips for $20, yes 1/2 an avocado for 20 bucks. Burger meat so charred that you taste more the burnt pieces than the meat itself. Then there's the music, made to feel like you're at a cheesy Eurovision contest and the crowd, who comes dressed for that - heels and heavy make-up for a beachfront restaurant, c'mon! Skip: Burrata- besides the $21 price tag, our table was served 2 burrata plates that were sour and had gone bad*. Truffle Mac and Cheese- no flavor and dried out. I was completely blown away by the sunset I witnessed here last night. I've seen some great sunsets in my time, but this was perfection - complete with beautiful sailboats in the distance on the calmness of the bay. I came here with my two friends on Sunday with the intention of seeing the sunset. We heard that it was really spectacular and that you need to get there early in order to secure a table. It's really difficult to get a reservation here, so we thought we'd wing it and see if we could get lucky and be seated outside. Upon arrival the manager told us there wasn't a chance for that, but he was great enough to sit us right by the window, which is second best if you're there for the view. While waiting for our food to come my friend decided to go outside and check out the view when she noticed people getting up from the tables outside that do not have any wait service for - they are basically there for the public to go to the bar or bring your own food. She seized the moment and secured us three seats right smack on the shoreline. Long story short, we ended getting our food boxed and sat outside right on the water, eating, drinking the Rose Sangria (delish) and listening to the soothing reggae band playing in the background whilst watching the sun descend into the horizon. It really was an amazing moment. The food is OK, but I really wouldn't make it a point to eat here. The fish tacos were bland and could have used a little kick, the shoshito peppers were actually probably prepared the best I've had and the parm fries were really good. The crowd is a little older (lots of parents with their kids skipping rocks in the bay) and definitely laid back. If you want to just relax with a glass of wine I would highly recommend coming here at sunset. read more

First of all - the waitress had major attitude and the hostess as well. Then we ordered drinks and they gave us plastic cups to drink our bottle wine out of!! Like you can't even buy some plastic wine tumblers so u can drink with dignity?! Then we ordered appetizers bc we were starving and hadn't pick out entrees yet, but we were only allowed to order everything at once. Ridiculous! The waitress didn't not check up on us AT ALL to see if we wanted more drinks. Every time we needed something we had to waive down a busboy (who were all great) to order something. The waitress also totally botched our order, and didn't bring out half of our appetizers. All the food we had was good: the parm fries, Mac and cheese, mussels and local sword fish cooked perfectly. Views were beautiful, obviously since that's the only reason you really wanna come here. Would recommend coming here no later that 6pm to enjoy the sunset. Made the mistake of making a reso at 8pm, thinking they would have some sort of lighting outside - NOPE! We had 1 small lantern, would recommend some tiki torches so you don't have to eat in the dark. The workers there really act like they r doing you a favor by allowing you to eat there. read more

Told me- keep in mind, if you step outside your vehicle you need face covering to walk. I surprisingly asked: even outside? Bc it seems that nobody wear a covering in Montauk. Just simply asked!!! I cannot believe that it would be that difficult to find a swordfish steak in montauk....especially at $38.00! The only thing that annoyed me this past week trip was the seating. We had a reservation for 12:30 lunch and they sat us at a communal table, there were tables free but I wasn't in the mood to argue. Disappointing. Easily the worst meal we had in Montauk. The fish tacos were super fishy (they used either salmon or Arctic Char - my bad for not asking before ordering). The pork belly with watermelon salad was good (not as good as Fatty Crab in the Village), The pasta with lobster was totally bland. I had to add a ton of salt to make it edible. The parm fries and truffle mac and cheese were very good. The Truffle cheesecake was ok, clearly not baked on the premises. The service is why I am giving this restaurant two stars instead of one. The waitress was great. We were seated fairly quickly and were served very quickly. The only negative on the service was that we never got any bread. This restaurant was also VERY pricey. Over $140 and we didn't have any alcohol. Definitely not worth the money! read more

Probably my favorite venue during my long weekend in Montauk. We got reservations for a couch on the beach for 4-8PM which required a $400 minimum of drinks only and had to get food inside. With steep drink prices, my group of 11 blew past that benchmark easily. The good: The sunset was beautiful as we enjoyed it from our beach couch. Our waitress was surly in the beginning but warmed up as the evening progressed. Our other server and the busboys were very nice. It was a pretty beautiful evening. The reggae band rocked. The outdoor bouncers were cool and took pictures of the group for us. The bad: Several of my friends went inside for food at the bar at different times in the evening and told me that the indoor bartender was very rude. There were a group of NY Knicks and their wives inside eating .... YES THE KNICKS!!! ... and the bartender referred to them as 'that black table', remarking that they were easy to pick out because Navy Beach doesn't usually get 'that type'. Speechless. read more

Went here for dinner last minute. Called about 4:30 and hostess was very pleasant. Only had tables inside which was fine for us last minute - outside has picnic tables, but top bar seating or these huge couch tables, I'm sure that's an experience eating on the couch and beach. Food was good, chowder was just ok. Server was a bit annoying with an attitude and took our order, was delivered and didn't see her until she asked if we were done. But the views were great. My boyfriend and I arrived late on a Friday evening on our drive in from the city. We had a difficult time finding a restaurant that was taking walk ins and/or serving food at 10pm. After getting turned down due to full reservations at another venue, we chose Navy Beach. We started with a bottle of Chardonnay, which was finished, but would not order again. We shared the salmon tartare to start, and ordered a sea bass special which was breaded and deep fried (wish our waitress better explained the preparation), and a scallop and date entree. I didn't particularly care for the dates, but the seafood tasted fresh. I found the menu to be limited, but was gracious that we were seated and served at a late hour, and had excellent and attentive service from the waitress, manager, and bus boys. read more
