My family and I usually come to eat here every time we're in Montauk. My most recent visit was super disappointing. The drinks were alright but the food just wasn't what it used to be. The appetizers we got were the calamari salad and the burrata. The burrata is hard to mess up, so that was fine but the calamari was so crispy it was hard to chew. For dinner, I got the swordfish and it honestly looked like someone just threw the ingredients on a plate and tossed it outside for me to eat. The presentation was gross and the food had no flavor. It's sad because I really used to love this place but every time I come it seems to get worse. read more

Corn hole, beautiful views of the water and sunset, we arrived about 5:45. Waiter was kind and semi attentive. The hiccups started when they bought on someone else's drinks, then someone else's bread. It got much worse after an hour wait for our food and the table next to us that came 20-30 AFTER us got our meal! Initially attracted by a Youtuber's video showcasing this lovely restaurant my husband and I were so attracted by this 15-second preview of Navy Beach! We knew we had to stop here during our NY roadtrip. However, once we sat down and tried the food, we just found it to be adequate and heavily expensive! After coming here annually for years, this visit would be my last. The service was atrocious. Walking in we were greeted and seated promptly, but the service ended there. After one employee got our water, another individual who we later learned was our server (he never introduced himself) asked for our order. He was not welcoming or helpful, but instead made us feel rushed as within the first 5 minutes of sitting down he came back asking for our order THREE times. On the third visit we decided to start with two appetizers and he responded curtly that he needs the entire order to put in at once. It would've been helpful had he introduced himself and explained this earlier. So, we quickly decide on entrees. I order the burger and he responds "How?" I am confused what he is asking, so I repeat "the burger". He repeats condescendingly, "How?" I then realized he's asking how I would like it cooked. I also asked if I could be on a separate check as I was the only one in the group not drinking and he responded bluntly NO. We were a party of 4 so unsure why he was unwilling to bring 2 checks but fine. I figured out the math and he took my payment separately at the end. From there, the food came out super quick which was great, but he never came by to ask if everything came out ok. Instead, halfway through our meal there were numerous attempts to take half full plates off the table which was disruptive and made us feel rushed and anxious. Possibly the most ridiculous moment of dinner was at perfect time as the sun was setting and the sky was beautiful, the server decides to take a break, standing directly in front of our table (back towards us) blocking our table's view of the sunset. After the sunset, all the visits to the table abruptly stopped then it was impossible to get a last drink or dessert order in as he never came back to check in. Instead, the check was dropped off without asking us if we needed anything else. The whole experience, his attitude and tone ruined what should've been a relaxing meal catching up with friends. This type of person who is clearly miserable should not be in a client-facing role. There are many other dining options in Montauk offering waterfront views and sunsets, namely Crows Nest which has a better menu and superior service. I will not be back to Navy Beach. read more

Setting is unparalleled. Truly amazing. Service is attentive and friendly. Food is ok. Others in my party loved it, I thought it was just ok. Exceptionally pricey and not worth the $. You're paying for the setting. Tuna crudo was ok. Small portion for the price tag. Kale salad with shrimp decent - needed more dressing. Calamari salad was good (everyone else thought it was amazing). I didn't try the crab cake but it was expensive for 1 crab cake. Kids meals were big portions and well received. This is such a great place. Had an amazing time yesterday, like always even during covid. The staff and team here take all of the precautions to ensure the safety of their patrons. The staff is incredible from the valet attendants helping customers find places to go after dinner, to the hostesses, wait staff, and bartenders. Food coupled with the beach side seating and sunset vibes makes for an amazing experience. Tartare, and robs as appetizers, tile fish was incredible, and we also had the pasta and salmon over soba noodles and broth. I'm probably going to go back tonight it was soo good..haha. Rude staff with bad attitude and extremely overpriced mediocre food. We had a reservation for 8:30 and we got there at 7:45. We asked if we could just get a drink to go or sit at the bar, or wait by the restaurant and they asked us very rudely to leave and come back at 8:30. There is really nothing around so we had to just walk around until then. When we got back, it took the hostess 15 min to sit us down at the bar inside. The only good thing about the place is the view so we asked if we could sit facing outside (even if from the inside) and they said (again, very rudely, without even taking their eyes off the phone and looking at us) that everything is reserved. By the end of the meal, about 2 hours later, there were still some empty seats facing the outside. We were looking very carefully and no one was sitting there the whole time... There was another couple that got so frustrated with the attitude and just left after one drink. Wish we did the same. They also made a mistake with our food order. Regardless, the food was pretty bad and very overpriced. The only good thing I can say is the bartender was nice, he saw how frustrated we were so he offered us a complimentary drink. read more

I don't usually write reviews but I needed to after our awful experience. The manager was extremely rude and called me and my husband "squatters". We had a reservation and got there about an hour early to enjoy drinks outside prior to our reservation. We grabbed our drinks and sat down at a picnic table outside. We were there for about 30 mins and a waiter came over and started giving us plates and water. We told him that our reservation wasn't until later and he said that's fine and they can serve us now so we were like ok great. My husband left to use the restroom and formally check in with the plan to tell them that the waiter outside said we could eat where we were sitting. The women didn't give him a chance to tell them that and proceeded to walk him to a table on the deck. My husband just went with the flow followed the hostess. While he was inside, a woman ran up to me and told me I needed to get up because she had a reservation for the table that we were having drinks at. She was extremely rude and talking down to me like I was a child. I told her we were there for a very long time and no one told us we had to leave and in fact a waiter told us we were able to stay and eat there. She told me that's not how her system works and kept telling me to get up so of course I did and moved myself and our drinks to an Adirondack chair on the beach to wait for my husband to get back. I was rattled and felt very belittled. After this interaction, the manager went inside to the hostess stand and my husband was at the front waiting to tell the hostess about our reservation. The manager then proceeded to complain to her co workers that they're were "squatters" outside at the picnic table saying that they have a reservation at 6:15 with an attitude that assumed I was lying and didn't have a reservation. My husband was up at the hostess stand waiting to speak to them and heard this whole conversation but didn't think anything of it until he came back and I told him what happened and then told me about the conversation that he overheard when he was at the hostess stand. After speaking to my husband about the situation and the conversation he overheard, I decided to confront the manager about her attitude. She was extremely dismissive and would not make eye contact with me. She blamed her attitude on it being a stressful job however, that isn't an excuse or reason to treat your customers poorly. She also insinuated that I was lying about being checked in and seated because it wasn't indicated in her system. The hostess that seated my husband then come over and confirmed that she seated us and the manager went silent because she knew she was wrong. She never once apologized for how she treated us. She clearly doesn't care about her customers. A cherry on top to an awful experience was that the food/drinks and service were not good either. I would not recommend. read more

I had dinner with friends on Sunday June 28th at Navy Beach outdoors. They are lucky that they have such a beautiful location because everything else about this place was horrible. The service was terrible as they did not bring us essentials like plates for sharing and fork/knives. The food was subpar considering the price $600 for 4ppl. It was very greasy and the quality of the meat was low. The part that was quite possibly the worst was their treatment as we were leaving. One out of the the four of us had taken her mask off for a moment and one of the employees came over and rudely demanded we leave. I guess they figured that since they had our money they could treat us like garbage. The level of rudeness was uncalled for and they should be ashamed of their treatment. We made reservations for 4 people at Navy Beach several days out. They only take reservations 14 days in advance. I booked ours 10 days in advance and could only get 5:45pm or 8:45pm. I took the 5:45pm. You need to book the reservation with a credit card. There is a $50 no show fee per person if you do not cancel before 24 hrs. The restaurant is located next to condominiums on the beach. We were stopped by a security guard when we turned onto the road. If we did not have a reservation, we would not be allowed in. We valet parked. We were seated right away indoors and were shocked to see the dining room was empty. As a matter of fact, we were the only table in the restaurant for at least 20 minutes. There are picnic tables outside. The outdoors was pretty crowded. We ordered drinks from the bar that were not so great. We wanted to place our appetizer order first and then order dinner. We were told we had to put our full order in all at once. The meal was decent...not worth the price by any means. At the end of the evening the waiter asked us if we wanted to order coffee which we did. Come to find out they were out of coffee.....out of coffee?? Are you kidding me? He offered us cappuccino's instead which we agreed to. The cappuccino's were served in a regular coffee cup at $7 per cup. The sunset is spectacular and that is what you are paying for. We still cannot understand why the only reservation we could get was 5:45 since 85% of the tables in the restaurant were empty the entire time we were there. In the end....it was a $500 sunset. The menu is very limited. Portions are Very small. Pricey!! There is nothing on the menu that children would eat. If you want to sit outside, plan on walking across rocks & pebbles. The one nice thing about this restaurant is that it is on the water and it has a beautiful sunset. The Calamari was served on sweet potatoes , the chilled shrimp had TINY little pieces of shrimp loaded with Parmesan cheese. No taste. I visit Montauk at least one a year and have dinner here at least once each visit out east. I have noticed a decline in both the food and service over the years. My last experience offered unacceptable customer service and severe stomach aches for myself and all my friends! This was the last straw for me and I will no longer be bringing my business here. Overall you can expect very lousy service and high end junk food. If you are just going to view the sunset here I would recommend it; but if you are looking for quality food, good service and a view I would recommend checking out Ruschmeyers, Gurneys or the Surf Lodge. You need to inform your customers that there is potential that you could be sitting with another family when you are seated outside. We were seated outside, had a reservation, and then another family joined us. There was no room on table for anyone's food. It was awkward and not a nice experience when your paying 200$ for a dinner. At least have the courtesy to tell your patrons, BEFORE you seat them, that they could be dining with other people. Perfect spot for lunch on the beach with kids! They have beds and sofas on the bay beach directly. Makes you instantly feel like you are in another world! Food was very good- for 2 adults and 2 kids we had calamari salad with scallops as well as fried chicken and a side of fries. Chicken came with breast, thigh and leg- breading was crispy with a nice sweet salty flavor. Could have been juicier. The calamari salad was a nice shareable size- the dressing was good but a little too sweet for my taste. The scallops were grilled very well. I was completely blown away by the sunset I witnessed here last night. I've seen some great sunsets in my time, but this was perfection - complete with beautiful sailboats in the distance on the calmness of the bay. I came here with my two friends on Sunday with the intention of seeing the sunset. We heard that it was really spectacular and that you need to get there early in order to secure a table. It's really difficult to get a reservation here, so we thought we'd wing it and see if we could get lucky and be seated outside. Upon arrival the manager told us there wasn't a chance for that, but he was great enough to sit us right by the window, which is second best if you're there for the view. While waiting for our food to come my friend decided to go outside and check out the view when she noticed people getting up from the tables outside that do not have any wait service for - they are basically there for the public to go to the bar or bring your own food. She seized the moment and secured us three seats right smack on the shoreline. Long story short, we ended getting our food boxed and sat outside right on the water, eating, drinking the Rose Sangria (delish) and listening to the soothing reggae band playing in the background whilst watching the sun descend into the horizon. It really was an amazing moment. The food is OK, but I really wouldn't make it a point to eat here. The fish tacos were bland and could have used a little kick, the shoshito peppers were actually probably prepared the best I've had and the parm fries were really good. The crowd is a little older (lots of parents with their kids skipping rocks in the bay) and definitely laid back. If you want to just relax with a glass of wine I would highly recommend coming here at sunset. read more

I should have read the reviews before going! Silly me! I actually chose this restaurant because it was so close to where we were staying, we could ride our bikes over and yes, for the sunset. The experience was pretty terrible and we wanted to run out of there without paying the bill! The food is less than mediocre at exorbitant prices. I mean, stale fries that leave that greasy feeling in your mouth, tasteless tuna cut into large, chunky, extra tasteless cubes, 1/2 an avocado with overly fried tortilla chips for $20, yes 1/2 an avocado for 20 bucks. Burger meat so charred that you taste more the burnt pieces than the meat itself. Then there's the music, made to feel like you're at a cheesy Eurovision contest and the crowd, who comes dressed for that - heels and heavy make-up for a beachfront restaurant, c'mon!
