First time being at a Navy Lodging. Place is under construction so limited availability are available. Parking is free, clean ,and has trash can. Lobby is spacious and well decorated for Xmas! Room is spacious with double beds, refrigerator, microwave, closet, and a clean bathroom. The receptionist was very professional and provided us with easy instruction on how to get to the lodging since on route was closed, saving us over 20 of driving. If I find my self in the area again, I will definitely book once more. P.S. You will need to have a military ID card to get access to the Navy Lodging. read more

We enjoyed our 5 day stay here and would recommend. Staff were pleasant, friendly and welcoming. We came in through the South Gate and Google Maps took us straight to it, it's close to the NEX & commissary. Behind the lodge is the old flight deck where you can walk to or drive and do some fishing and see some birds. The rooms are clean, beds comfy and linen smelled clean. The room has a micro kitchen equipped with medium size fridge, sink, microwave, electric stove, coffee maker and cooking ware, plates & cups. Also there is small dining table seats 4. The shower was alway hot and maintained good pressure. Our stay was good, quite and everyone was polite. Also pet friendly Here are some recommendations to where to eat if looking: Breakfast or brunch -- Andy's Kitchen Mexican food -- El Jalisco Grill ... Made reservations here, thinking that it was not only a good price but was in a good location. (Normal military lodgings are like nice motels, but from my 21 years of experience, they aren't as nice.) I called a day before and asked if they had a pack and play. Receptionist told me to call tomorrow. I called the next day, and I asked the receptionist the same question. She said that she was busy and told me to call back later. I didn't call back. We arrived. Receptionist greeted us. We checked in and I asked about the pack and play. She said you didn't call back. I said "I called twice and twice was told to call a later time. So I didn't call back." Receptionist stayed that there was a pack and play. Came into the room 107, and the room was ULTRA humid. The sheets were damped. The chair smelt bad; didn't smell like BO but more like soggy clothe smell. Had an odd smell to the place... musty... might have mold here. This is my fault, as I didn't complain or asked to switch rooms. But I do know that if room 107 is like this... more than likely, all the rooms are like this. I was very disappointed by the Navy Lodge at Corpus Christi. From other reviews, I thought it was going to be a great place to stay; a las, I was very wrong. I traveled here with a group of 5 coworkers for a site visit to NAS Corpus. Checking in, the lobby looked nice enough, and the front desk clerk was friendly. I was handed the key to room 204 and proceeded on my way. Walking into the room, I was smacked in the face with a musty, humid smell. I checked to see if the AC was maybe left off, but that was not the case. Looking around, I could see black substance coming out of the electrical sockets, ceiling plugs where I am assuming old light fixtures used to be, vents, and even on the carpet. I sighed, as of course, we are forced to stay here when we visit anyways. I got unpacked, ironed some clothes, and went off to dinner with my coworkers. When I returned, I showered, and discovered the wildly inaccurate and peeling temperature sticker under the handle. After moving the handle to cold to find a suitably warm temperature, I was able to bathe. I went to brush my teeth and discovered that the faucet had a constant leak at the base, that just kept dripping into the sink. Again, deep sigh with the bathroom situation. I moved to the bed, started situating the pillows, and found a flippin' silverfish just hanging out! Of course, I can't blame the guy. The air in the room felt like even I was lying in a bath tub. Another defeated sigh, I crawled into bed and eventually fell asleep. Until 3 a.m., at least. I began hearing a repeated chirping noise: beep beep beep, pause, beep beep beep, pause. It wasn't deafeningly loud, but loud enough to wake me and keep me awake. I began searching through dresser drawers to see if somebody left behind an alarm clock watch. Nope. Looked at all of the appliances for any kind of a weird anomaly. Nothing. Checked my phone. Still no. Where the hell was this noise coming from? THE SMOKE DETECTOR. Half-asleep and plenty annoyed at this point, I walked down to the front desk. Nobody to be found. I realized quickly that the front desk clerk was off to the side at a table intended for guests and instagramming or doing God knows whatever else on her phone. I approached and let her know that the smoke detector was going off. Her response was "Did you try removing the battery?" I was like "No, isn't that a maintenance thing?" The response "Oh, we don't have maintenance until 8 a.m., but I'll make sure they come right up!" Dumbfounded, I asked what I should do about the situation. "Oh, just try removing the battery or something!" Great. I head back up to my room, and start trying to twist the detector out of the ceiling. Son of a bitch, they never even installed it right! THE ENTIRE FIXTURE ROTATED IN PLACE. I finally turned it enough that the noise stopped (probably not up to code, because that's pretty concerning), and just said to hell with it and went back to sleep. Luckily, no more noise. We left early the next morning to work. Upon returning to the hotel that afternoon, I asked what maintenance had said about the smoke detector. "Oh, we don't have maintenance today." Dumbfounded again, I asked for clarification. "Oh, maintenance is in training this week." TRAINING FOR WHAT, you might ask? I was too mad to even ask. "Well, what do you recommend I do about the smoke detector?" "Oh, just like rip it out of the ceiling." Awesome answer, right? Pretty sure this "Navy Lodge" wouldn't make the DoD's Fire Protection Act approved property list, but I'm being forced to stay here anyway. So sure enough, I went back to my room and ripped the damn thing out of the ceiling, and discovered that the only thing holding it in place up there anyway was the wiring. I went to remove the battery, and it was in such poor shape that when I disconnected the smoke detector terminals, the battery terminal pulled apart. I stopped messing with it at that point. Around this time, other coworkers started verbalizing the peculiarities within THEIR hotel rooms. One poor guy's AC was perpetually stuck to 66 and wouldn't shut off. Another coworker couldn't get half the TV channels, but the others worked fine. Yet another guy's room AC wouldn't operate without a loud, cyclic clunking noise. "Jesus, where the hell are we staying?" we start to wonder. It was also around this time that I realized my room as so humid that an envelop I was keeping in my suitcase had sealed itself shut! I could write more, but those are the major points. I can't believe this woefully-maintained, unsafe, and probably mold-infested property is even open and operating, and that the DoD forces their employees to stay here. I stayed here over the course of 5 days and wasn't sure what to expect since I hadn't been back for two years. My first impression was very good, everything super clean except for some minor marks on the walls. I saw no pest problems unlike what other people have posted here on yelp. The breakfast was high quality waffles, bagels, oatmeal, cereal, muffins, yogurt, some fruit and then coffee and juice. Something also pretty cool is every Wednesday afternoon they do egg rolls, chicken tenders and some assorted desserts as part of a Manager's reception". Another perk of coming here is that they give you beach towels at the front desk to rent out for free. The only thing that left a bad taste in my mouth, which is the reason I only gave it three stars, is that on our last day we went to rent out the beach towels and they were all out. We were in desperate need of beach towels because we didn't bring any because we knew about the rental towels. The lady at the front desk was super nice about it and apologized and we asked her permission if we could bring the shower towels. She seemed hesitant to say yes, but we told her we had no towels and she allowed it. When we returned from the beach the manager of the Lodge was there as we were returning the towels. My mom was nicely greeting the front ladies we were used to seeing and the manager interrupts her and grabs the towels out of her arms, and she says that we shouldn't have taken those towels because they have specific beach towels in the rudest way possible without asking any question on why we had the towels. My mom explained that they were out at the time and we asked permission. The manager did not apologize after accusing us for something that wasn't our fault, she just left and went into her office and slammed her door. Therefore we love this Navy Lodge but its just sad to see how upper management doesn't care about making sure the guest always feels welcome. Nice staff and great complimentary breakfast that includes fresh waffles! Rooms are suite-style with kitchen sink, stove, microwave, full refrigerator. There's a smell of moisture in the air, but it's Corpus... Nice view of the water. Would return again. read more

Nice lobby, clean rooms, but I always doubt hotel carpets. lol Only a few minutes from Padre Is and Mustang Is. No musty smell as per review 4 years ago, so things have probably improved. Will always stay here everytime we visit CC. read more

Nice lobby, nice polite staff, nice view. Decent job on remodel. Was decently clean but seems to have issues with bugs. And rusty kitchen utensils, which was a bit annoying. And AC wouldn't shut off. Ironically my coworkers wouldn't come on worth a hoot. My other coworker had a bug infestation. We all agreed if not required to use DoD lodging we would have preferred elsewhere. read more

The staff is very friendly and courteous. My family and I stayed there for 2 nights it was nice. The only bad thing is that there was no WiFi because of a storm the day prior to us arriving and they couldn't get the company to come out and fix it. We really enjoyed our stay, the front desk girls were very sweet and helpful. It was our first time visiting Corpus Christi and I would stay there again. read more

This place is right on the water and comes with a fantastic view! When the weather is nice I am sure it is great. I unfortunately experienced it when the weather was storming with tornado warnings, lame. The building is really old and has an overwhelming smell of Fabreez plug ins because they are trying to hide the musty smell. If you are allergic to scented things, good luck. Other then that it is a conveinict place to stay and do business while on base. read more

The lodge has been remodeled and updated. Got to stay on the bayside, third floor. Had a great view. The staff is nice, friendly and courteous. Breakfast has also been updated. It is not a full breakfast, but has the basics. We have been coming here for eight years. read more
