After a horrible experience at a better know restaurant down the street, we decided to drop into Mi Ranchito, and give them a chance. What a contrast from the previous restaurant we tried to eat at! Mi Ranchito is a "family owner and operated" little Mexican restaurant. The food was tasty, they were accommodating to my needs (vegetarian) and so warm and friendly! It was a wonderful experience! The food was tasty, definitely spicy, filling and of good quality and presentation. I would definitely recommend this little restaurant adjacent to the Durango Silverton RR in Durango. I stopped in for lunch while hubby was working. I had a combo that came with an enchilada, soft relleno, beans and rice. I usually don't like soft rellenos, but it was pretty good. The food isn't fancy in appearance; but the margaritas are strong and tasty, the salsa fresh with a kick, the chips fresh and warm, and the food delicious! They have a large garage door window that opens to the outside and lets fresh air in; and you can see the Durango - Silverton train depot! Stopped here for some street tacos while we were staying at the Strater Hotel. This place is just around the corner from the Strater and right off of Main Street. We were super happy to find this place! Street tacos came with grilled onions on top and the carne asada was perfect. An even better surprise was the big house margaritas they serve here! It was a little on the bland side but if you aren't used to Mexican food it may be the right amount of flavor for you. Staff were nice. Wonderful food! We were wandering in downtown Durango looking for something to eat when we found this little gem. The meal started off strong with chips and very good hot sauce. We ordered the chile relleno and pork taco along with the flauta plate. My husband loves chile rellenos and he said this one was one of the best he's ever had. We were driving through on our way to Texas and my wife was craving tacos so we decided to try this place. We were seated right away and they definitely had social distancing practices in place. We ordered 3 tripas tacos, 1 carne asada taco and the taco/enchilada plate. For the plate we had a green chicken enchilada and a ground beef taco. Everything was delicious! The street tacos were definitely the winners! Every time we get tripas we always have to ask to get them extra crispy. We forgot to ask when we ordered but when they brought them out they were just the way we like them, extra crispy! The tortillas were great, you can tell they are handmade. Stopped into Mi Ranchito yesterday and was thoroughly impressed. The food was delicious - you can tell thought and care goes into making these dishes. House made salsas that actually have a kick and fresh guacamole. My chicken flautas were loaded up with chicken! For the amount and quality of food you're getting, the pricing is right. The man who seated and waited on us (owner?) was friendly and attentive. We will be back as regulars and recommending enthusiastically to friends. Amazing food great atmosphere. However, crazy experience happened last time I was here for lunch. I checked in on yelp, we got our food and as I was getting ready to eat the owner came by with the business phone and asked if I was Jeremy. I said I was and he said I'm sorry you have a phone call and handed me the business phone. I was here with my girlfriend who was looking at me like I was crazy. I answered saying hello and the person on the other line asked what kind of watch I was wearing. I laughed and said I wasn't wearing a watch and then.looked around for the culprit assuming it had to be another person in the restaurant. I didn't see anyone. I asked who they were and was told its me, and I said ok whatever and hung up... I dont have time to.be screwing around while I'm eating lol. Was looking for some other Mexican place ( I think its gone) and ended up in this quiet restaurant on College Street. Was sceptical since it was fairly quiet at lunchtime on a Tuesday but we had a group of 6 and needed to eat. We we pleasantly surprised by the waitresses great personality and service. Beers were cold, chips fresh and salsa spicy good. Food came fast and was delicious. Lots of meat on taco salads, and burritos fairly large. We'll come back for sure. read more

We came to this place because of great reviews. As a party of 8, we were told to wait 30 min. After about 40 minutes, they told us it's 20 more minutes. While we were waiting, we asked to have margaritas, and they told us, no, because they are understaffed, and too busy to make them for us. After about an hour wait with children, who were hungry and upset, they told us our table was ready. They seated us at a table for 4. And the rest of the party can sit on another side of the restaurant, or can leave. ???? Understandably, we were surprised and upset by this, but willing to deal with it, considering the amount of time we spent waiting. The OWNER came to one of our tables and told us we had to leave because we are not happy. Apparently, something happened the night before and the customers were angry from waiting long time and had bad experience so they told us THEY WILL NOT SERVE US BECAUSE THEY WANT TO HAVE ONLY GREAT REVIEWS. We couldn't believe this treatment, because none of us actually have completed! 40 years of experience in finest New York city restaurants, we have never encountered such disrespectful attitude from an OWNER/waiter.
