Very nice little candy store with a nice variety of items to choose from. I was driving home from down Dempster the other day and saw the sign for nuts and candy, it was my Moms birthday that day, and I had a busy day at work so didn't have time to get her anything before. I decided to stop in and see if they had any Chocolates as my mom loves chocolate. I was pleasantly surprised when I walk in they had a section of dairy free chocolate as well as milk chocolates. They also had a nice variety of hard/ non chocolate candy as well including fun penny candy I remember from my childhood. I ended up purchasing two nut clusters for my mom and a crunchy peanut butter bark for myself. My bark was great and my mom said she loved the clusters as welI I only live about 10 mins from this store and drive by it all the time but have never stopped in. I live about two minutes from Fannie May and have always gone there when I needed fancier candies. I was very happy I finally stumbled in her after all this time, I even got a discount for being a first time customer! The staff was friendly and parking is easy to find a space in the lot or near by side street. I will definitely be coming here again when they are open instead of FM, the candy tasted much more unique and home made. I like FM okay but sometimes it's over kill with all the extra caramel and other items they add, too sweet! The candy here was simple and just the right amount of sweetness! I can not express enough how great my experience was with Illinois Nut and David who I worked with from the begining of all of this. I had seen their Wizard of Oz candy bar on TLC's Four weddings. My dream baby shower was to have a Wizard of Oz theme and I thought this would be a great thank you favor for people to take some candy home with them. When I initially called it was way out of our budget. David worked with me on the budget and figured out how we could save in different areas and still keep everything to look just as beautiful and how I imagined it. I just started working with Illinois Nut & Candy as a vendor for my clients this year, when I became the Sales Manager to my brand new hotel in the Rosemont area. It is an incredible store. There is so much unique candy to choose from and so much selection for my clients. I chose to do gorgeous gift baskets for the holiday season. He was so creative he even had our hotel log printed on the bow. They were a HUGE hit! He also makes amazing chocolate business cards that I will buy throughout the year to give out to clients. They not only look fantastic, but taste delicious. David Levine, "The Candyman" has made me a number 1 fan for years to come. He was even nice enough to knock off a charge from my bill to make it more affordable for my hotel. I never want to use another vendor again! I've driven past this place 2000 times, and always said "I should stop in sometime." I finally had a reason to try them and I was uber-pleased. I had to buy a bunch of candy for an office event and found exactly what I needed at Illinois Nut & Candy. They helped me pick an item, and they have so much to choose from (note to self: get the shimmery gumballs!). The salesperson that waited on me was so helpful and patient, and then the owner/manager did me a HUGE solid by counting the number of jawbreakers I had, so I didn't have to do it myself (they were for a "guess how many are in the jar?" game). I got a nice university discount, had super friendly and helpful service, and, they have a ton of inventory. The only thing that was a little odd, candy-store wise, was that all of the candy is behind the counter in bins. Normally you can pick the candy yourself, but, at Illinois Nut & Candy they do it for you. It's not a big deal, just not the normal candy store layout. I will absolutely go back to them, and, would be happy to recommend them to anyone in the candy buying market. read more

This place lost my Valentine's day order for my wife. It was a simple order, a handful of chocolate covered strawberries--her favorite--which I placed on Feb 13. The man working was very curt with me and rude to the other employee who took my order. They asked when I would pick them up the next day and I said 3 o'clock. When I came back the next day at 3, they didn't have them for me. The dude said he didn't know where they were, and pitifully offered me truffles instead. On Valentine's day of all days, when chocolate strawberries are impossible to find (which is why I ordered them early in the first place.) As soon as I entered this cutesy little candy shop, I was in love. It reminded me of a real, old-time candy store--the decor was absolutely perfect and just made me feel so happy!!! I'm not sure what's my favorite part of the store, because there are so many aspects - the fun vibes, the kitschy decor, the very fresh candy, the cheery expressions ("Have a sweet day!" and "Can we have your autograph?" when they ask you to sign for credit cards), or the helpful employees....the girl behind the counter was so cheerful and patient with me, even with my three complicated orders for three separate candy platters with different candy in each one. She made sure to stuff the candy to the brim ("so it looks better," she advised - a tip which I was very happy to hear!!), and wrapped the platters so beautifully with three different gift bows. However, the cherry on top was the owner, David. I needed a small box for a separate gift I was giving my hostess (in addition to the candy), and my fiance recommended I ask if they had any small boxes there. At first the girls behind the counter weren't sure, but then David stepped in. Bringing us to the side of the store, he not only found us a beautiful little polka dotted gray-and-black box, and not only gave me an option of gray or black ribbon, and not only wrapped my gift all up for me, but he did the whole thing as a courtesy, and didn't let me pay him!!! I was so overwhelmed by his kindness and the time he took to help my fiance and I with our orders and with this extra gift. David even spent time -- while all the other customers were there! -- to show me some of the posters and photos on the wall that I was curious about (He was interviewed by several magazines and TV stations!)
