I was a LONG-TIME loyal customer when it was previously owned by Steve and Polly. I supported the change in ownership and continued to be a loyal customer, but quality took a fast downward turn. I remember the new management caring more about cleanliness and presentation. He was more concerned that the front end should be more neat and organized. That's all well and good, but if you don't have good food, who cares about what the place looks like? People come for the bagels, for the taste and quality. Unfortunately this long-time customer won't be coming back. And that is sad for a local businesses. read more

There has been a noticeable decline in the place since new ownership took over. Bagels are allowed to get stale and are in the bins the next morning as fresh...and the customer service is really lax. I used to love this place but it's definitely gone down. read more

We have enjoyed Neal's Bagels for years. My favorite is chicken salad on a toasted sesame bagel. Good service with friendly staff.

Henry is the only legitimate reviewer. I'm from NYC and read some good reviews so I went. The bagels stink unless you normally get yours at mcd's. I also tried royal the next day and they stink also. Imagine neither place would cook a real egg for my son. Both places microwaved some sort of egg thing. Are eggs that hard to make? The place is filthy The tables had to be wiped down by me and my son. YooHoo, nope. Cream cheese fresh out of a tub from a factory. Bad service slow. Owner admitted to feeling sick yesterday but luckily he was there to touch my food. The board of health should shut this hole down. It's sad that they call themselves a bagel store. read more

Ordered a platter for a family brunch since we love their food and their staff is so friendly. Several affordable options, easy ordering, reasonable delivery fee. The platter was beautiful, plentiful and arrived early. My bagel connoisure family were very happy and very full! Neal called on Monday to make are everything was satisfactory. The bagels here are delicious. Which is why I keep going back. If they were any less delicious I would definitely not buy food here. The store needs a major deep cleaning. It is really bad. I am not sure how they pass health inspections. I would give Neal's 5 stars if it was cleaned up. read more

Super Dirty, 10 people on line. One worker on phone instead of waiting on people in store. Manager BSing with person in front of store. Almost no cream cheese on bagel. Ordered 2 everything with cream chess and mixed dozen. Got home and only one with cream cheese in the bag. :-(. I will drive all the way to Bethesda Bagels from now on. read more

Neal's Bagel's has, hands down, the best bagels my husband and I have ever tasted. They are freshly made daily, right there, not frozen (which is very unusual), and absolutely delicious - chewy, and flavorful. The whole wheat everything kind is our particular favorite, but all the varieties are excellent. In addition, the tuna salad is fabulous -- spicy, filled will mostly tuna and just a touch of mayonnaise - best ever. Finally, Neal himself, the owner, is a great guy - funny, a good businessman, and eager to please. We have tried many other bagel places, including several in NY City, but none compare. Neal's is simply the best. And no, we are not relatives or investors in Neal's -- we just know quality food. read more

I've been there twice for bagels. I'm really not sure why anyone would rave about them. They are oddly heavy and have a weird aftertaste. The employees are less than enthusiastic bordering on rude. read more

I suppose you could call it a bagel because it's round and has a hole in the center. Neal's bagels used to be good but now they are a big, fat, doughy mass that is grossly underbaked. So sad. I believe they changed ownership some time ago and, in my mind, have gone downhill. I'm a New Yorker so I have a good idea of what bagels should taste like. Back to Bagel City I go - even though it's a longer drive for me. read more

This is definitely the place to come for a NY Bagel when you can't get to NY to get one. Steve and his staff are awesome and their food is always good, with a great quantity to price value. I highly recommend their pastrami bagel sandwich, my family recommends just about everything else. read more

If they were only as good as Neal thinks they are! I got bagels on Tuesday and most were so stale I cold hardly cut them in half. I guess Neal only cooks on Sundays. He gets a four because he has little competition (Royal Bakery!!!!!) but he'd never make it in NY! read more

dont come for a sit down meal, theres only 2 tables...Bagels are amazing...Tuna...amazing. chicken salad, amazing!!
