Coming to Millard Vet Clinics is one of the best things we ever did for our cats. They are…read moreconsummate professionals, caring, and affordable. We had tried out a few vets for our cats - a few different locations of Gentle Doctor - and we always felt they weren't caring enough, and we couldn't leave there without spending $200, minimum! But when we were recommended to try out Millard Vet Clinics, we were happy to try a place that friends and family had loved and had good experiences with. First off, I like the setup of this office a lot. Our cats get very testy when dogs are around, and Millard Vets have a separate waiting room and side for cats vs. dogs, so it's a lot less chance for them to see each other and cause a ruckus. Our first visit, we took both our cats in for their yearly shots and check-ups. Dr. Maria was so kind and understanding, especially with our older cat Conan, who is way more cantankerous than our other kitty. Gentle Doctor always wanted to put on giant gloves and hold Conan down tight to the table to examine and inoculate him, but Dr. Maria didn't want do anything like that and didn't want to traumatize him again with gloves/and restraints. Conan was still scared, though, from the previous place he went, and he was hissing and hiding under chairs and not letting anyone touch him. One of the vet techs is a literal cat whisperer, though, and could pick up Conan with no problem. It's just the way people approach him that escalates his anger/fear, and there was none of that here. Remy, our other cat, was completely fine from the jump, and let them do the check up and shots with no issue. A few days later, we noticed a bump on Remy's leg at the injection site. We went back to Millard Vet Clinics, and Dr. Sam took a look and gave us an anti inflammatory, to not start from the jump with putting him through antibiotics. She even FaceTimed me at home (my husband was at their office and I was home with our other cat), to explain everything and assure me Remy would be fine. Dr. Sam even called us the next day to ask us how Remy was doing, and we were happy to report that the swelling was already going down, and was completely gone soon after. That's just to show you that they are not so quick to throw prescriptions at things, and instead use the gentlest thing for the kitties first, before trying anything else - which I appreciate! We took Remy and Conan back recently for their annual shots and checkups, and Conan was WAY better behaved this visit. Just a little bit of hiding and one hiss, but ten times better than he had been his first time here (and every time at Gentle Doctor). Millard Veterinary Clinics, and specifically Dr. Sam and Dr. Maria are the best. I trust my cats health with them and I'm VERY protective of my cats. So I totally recommend you try them out for your fur babies and see if they are a great fit for you, as they were for us!

The woman vet on the other hand told me my cat had some neurological issues and that finding out what exactly was wrong would be thousands of dollars and didn't give me much explanation. When I asked if putting her down was the humane thing to do, she just kept going in circles. Now I know that vets can't give an ultimate recommendation to put any animal down, but they can give you an idea what quality of life might look like if you chose to keep your pet alive. I felt pressured to make the decision to put her down because I truly believed she was suffering and the options I was basically given was euthanasia or thousands of dollars which I couldn't afford. Now I beat myself up because I wonder if I should've gotten a second opinion the next day or tried to bring her home. I feel like this place just wants your money. They also said there was an option to "pay what you can" for cremation and euthanasia and then before they'd even put my cat to rest we had the front desk come in and basically tell us to pay the full price now or they wouldn't do it. I was visibly distraught and kept asking over and over if this was the right thing to do and the veterinarian just kept shrugging at me. I felt like she had no empathy or sympathy for the situation. She seemed annoyed to even be there. A piece of me died with her that night, and I think i'll have "what ifs", doubts and guilt for the rest of my life.
