Delicious healthy food that doesn't lack in flavor. They have a wide variety of wraps and other meals that are filling without being heavy. The flavors are really terrific. I had an asian style wrap that had a good soy/ginger taste, and also tried a bit of a southwestern wrap that was also delicious. Everything is fresh, which reflects the buildings clean look. I also tried a juice, which although expensive at $7, is really good. Considering this is pure juice made to order, the price isn't too much, and the Golden Sunrise juice was amazing. Holy vegan-moly, I cannot believe I have made it through my whole life without eating here. How did I survive?! Yesterday my family decided to do a rare take-out afternoon picnic in the car, and after googling "vegan Auburn," we came upon Nectar Cafe. It looked decent, worthy of the 30-40 minute drive for better than average vegan fare. We ordered the Supreme Nachos, which were definitely better than average - really flavorful, hearty, and satisfying. We also ordered the Tempeh Reuben, one of my vegan diner go-to's, and it too was better than average, maybe in my top 3 favorites. Lastly, we ordered the BLTA and let me tell you, my mind exploded. I have never been a BLT eater, even prior to going vegan, but I thought the kids and my husband would like it. (We were sharing all the dishes) I always tell people that "bacon is a flavor, not a piece of pig," and I have never been more right about anything, ever. This sandwich was SO AMAZING - the flavors were so deliciously intermingled, and I wish I could eat it over and over again. It was even the perfect size, and thickness, and WOW I could talk about that sandwich all day. Oh, did I mention the staff was very upbeat and helpful, and the whole experience was just so positive I could not be more pleased. 30-40 minute drive was well worth it yesterday, and again any time in the future. I also had a side salad, normally salad isn't anything to write home about but this was good. It had little shreds of different veggies (celery, carrot, red cabbage, tomato) on a bed of lettuce. So good! Really nice tangy balsamic dressing. My hubby had vegan baked Chile verde enchiladas, he liked his too. We had a really good americano, turns out it's Chocolate Fish coffee. Real food with real quality! My western wrap came with a scrumptious chipotle sauce and the daily soup (French lentil) was hot and tasty. Carrot juice and beet juice came in huge cups and were packed with flavor. We couldn't walk away without trying their tarts so we ended up with a chocolate raspberry and a blackberry, both of which were to die for. Vegan restaurants are hard to come by. It's almost like there are quota limitations per geographic area. And most of them are pretty hit and miss. So when I tell you that we took the 30 min drive from Sacramento to Auburn to try Nectar AND that I will gladly make the trip again, it means something. I had the nachos. I went a little nuts with it by adding jalapeños, onions, guacamole and vegan chorizo. It almost doubled the price of the plate but it was absolutely worth it. My girlfriend tried a Thai bowl and that seemed hit the spot. I had a very good Tart Cherry Italian soda to wash it all down. What I can't emphasize enough here is that I am not a vegan. I eat in a lot of vegan places for the sake of my girlfriend, but very few of them wow me. I planning on telling several vegan friends about this place and we will definitely be back. Only recently converted to a plant based diet (80% of the time anyways) and there just aren't that many choices for good, healthy food. The fact that it is mostly organic is even better. Today I stopped in and had the Mediterranean Pizza, it was very good and filling, I also had a Tropical Green drink with Kale, Mint, Pineapple and Spinach among a few other items....very tasty and refreshing. It seems to take a while to get your food, but in the end it was very good. I feel the prices are high, and they have iPad check out where you are asked if you are tipping 15% or 20% tip or more, I don't like that, it makes you feel forced and to be honest when I order food to go I usually don't tip.....which in the books of tipping etiquette, is ok, when eating in I do. Great new vegan, organic cafe with plenty of Gluten Free options. I've tried the GF Thai and Mediterranean wraps with the house made kale chips and both were very good. A speciality sandwich called the "Yum-Wich" is amazing, with house made walnut pesto, sauerkraut beets, tomato avacado, greens and thousand island on Artisan GF bread. Highly recommend it. Wow, I loved the decor and ambiance when I walked in, listened on Friday, to two guys rock the Beatles, Neil Young , on guitars, I was humming along as I placed my order. I had the best Reuben sandwich ever, the flavors that were used for the tempeh as the meat substitute were amazing, fresh purple sauerkraut, melted Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, pan toasted swirled rye bread, great hot sandwich with a home made dill pickle and flaxseed chips, I had a great cold beer after a hot day.
