Edelweiss special Benedict
Rachel B.

Cute little place, love all the old time decor. Staff is all very nice and friendly. Food was delicious and big portions.

My favorite omelette place, I make a point to stop by whenever I'm in town. Great service and small diner vibes. Awesome way to start the day. Will return!

I cut off a piece of prime rib and dipped it into the horseradish sauce. Delicious!

The first Saturday of every month, Edelweiss Restaurant 2 offers a delicious breakfast of "Prime Rib and Eggs," which just happens to be one of the best breakfasts you'll have the pleasure to enjoy in western Placer County. I hit this breakfast up every time my schedule permits! The menu is posted on a door outside the restaurant, with the "Specials" posted next to it. The restaurant faces Sacramento St., so you can people watch, and enjoy the sights of historic "Old Town Auburn" as you enjoy a fine meal. The decor of the restaurant is quite rustic, and "earth," and isn't exactly what you'd see in a 21st century chain restaurant, but it's comfortable and blends in perfectly with the charm the area has to offer. I doubt the decor has been updated since the 1960's, but the locals, and I, love it the way it is. From the "Breakfasts" section of the menu, I went with "Prime Rib and Eggs," which is a special dish, served the first Saturday of every month. Sides included sourdough toast, hash brown potatoes, a couple cups of horseradish sauce and an optional side of breakfast gravy. Truly a remarkable breakfast... as it has almost become a de facto standard for the first Saturday of the month when my schedule permits. Talk about an amazing breakfast entrée... a thick 16-oz cut of choice prime rib beef, which was tender, juicy and cooked to order by the talented chef. I went with my slab of beef grilled to medium rare, but if medium rare isn't your choice, chefs Jay or Roberto will grill your prime rib exactly the way you choose. As always, the meat was perfectly cooked, tender, flavorful and simply delicious! Not only was it tender and delicious, it was simply beautiful to look at and almost made me afraid to cut into it. Well... almost... The presentation today, as always was simply beautiful, as the slab of beef was medium brown around the edge, but a tender pinkish inside... tender, juicy and delicious... exactly the way I like it! This is a slab of prime rib that is perfect in every way! The juicy slab of prime rib beef is "standalone" delicious and doesn't need any enhancements... yet I always get a couple cups of horseradish sauce for dipping, and to elevate the amazing cut of beef from "top shelf" up the sky. Our friendly server Jessica always remembers the request, so I don't even bother to ask. Almost always, I order hash brown potatoes, I we simply can't get enough of 'em. As in all "old school" diners, the hash browns were golden crispy and crunchy on the outside, and tender, white and juicy on the inside, which made perfect side of hash brown potatoes. Enjoyed as a side dish to the prime rib, dipped into the eggs, or the gravy, the hash browns were simply perfect. I've ordered "Country Potatoes" a couple of times - they're simply delicious - but it's hard to imagine enjoying this amazing breakfast without a side of hash browns. When it comes to eggs, I ordered my eggs fried over sunnyside, which go well with hash brown potatoes. The eggs were perfectly fried, as ordered, and simply delicious. I'm "old school," and I like to mix eggs with the hashbrowns. By the way, you can order your eggs cooked any way you desire. On this Saturday morning, as always, I ordered an optional side dish of gravy, which made for amazing dipping to go with the hashbrowns. The sausage gravy was rich, thick and simply delicious, and made for perfect dipping for hash brown potatoes and prime rib. The amazing gravy the kitchen at Edelweiss Restaurant 2 serves is always a welcome side dish for any breakfast. The slab of sourdough toast helped to salvage each delicious drop of gravy from the bowl. Sourdough toast, which is my de facto standard toast was on my breakfast menu today. The toast was perfectly toasted, and perfectly buttered, was simply delicious and made for a great way to enjoy the last of the gravy and the meat drippings. The toast came with two small packages of jelly which I simply ignored, as I like my toast with only butter. Edelweiss Restaurant 2 offers all common varieties of toast, along with English muffins, and you can even substitute biscuit and gravy for a small additional charge. As my schedule permits, the first Saturday of the month will be a Saturday morning breakfast day at Edelweiss Restaurant 2, located in Auburn, CA. I hesitate to use the adjective "the best," but the "Prime Rib and Eggs" breakfast is of the best breakfasts I've had the pleasure to enjoy during my 25+ years of dining in western Placer County. Consider this... on the days when my friend Dan is able to join me, he drives 140 miles each way from Merced to enjoy this amazing breakfast... that says something about the wonderful breakfast of "Prime Rib and Eggs" you'll enjoy the first Saturday of every month at Elelweiss Restaurant 2! Edelweiss Restaurant 2 consistently is 5 star dining!

Such a cute and cozy spot. The service was fast! Lovely servers. Amazing food! You can tell everything is fresh and made with intention. I had a Denver omelet and it was divine! Just the perfect place after a hike. We went for breakfast and if we are ever in the area again I would definitely come back.

Let me tell you about this hidden gem of a place! Not within 1 second of me walking in they greeted me with such warmth, I was seated got a great Vanilla Latte. I ordered the French Dip with cheese and it was huge! It was hot and steaming straight from the kitchen within 4 minutes of me ordering. Love love love this place and the ambiance, warm hospitality and fantastic food! Thank you so much! If I could give it 10 Stars I would!

Up here in Auburn, when it comes to breakfast, we have about five places that you can count on to deliver a good meal. But I think the number one place is Edelweiss restaurant 2. They have been around for decades. The food and service is top-notch. Right now until Thanksgiving you can order French toast or a waffle and get pumpkin glaze with pecans on top. It's amazing. It's the bees knees..

My burger was bready for his close-up.

Right off the 80, Old Town Auburn is a must-stop for anyone travelling this way. Except maybe the Donner Party. Donner Party, table for 81... 74... 79... 68...? Anyway, we stopped in Auburn because of the striking old architecture (it's worth a look) and the locals led me to this place with super unpretentious with friendly, attentive servers. We sat in the John Travolta Table. It's in the closet. I kid. It's in the corner. I guess he shots scenes from Phononi Phoenomim Phenomin that 1996 movie in this part of town. I ordered a burger. It wasn't the BEST burger I have ever had, but it was crazy fresh and crazy big and crazy loaded, with sharp cheddar covering the jalapenos so they didn't roll off the burger, and the prices were all reasonable. It came with more crisp fries than I needed (a rarity) and a 17 oz diet coke, with free refills. I liked the place so much that we came back for lunch less than 24 hours later. This time I had one of their 45 4-egg omelettes, the #16 (Bacon, Onion, Avocado, and Tomato), which they really should rename the B.O.A.T. It was huge and fresh. The country potatoes were okay, but I recommend the hash browns. I took 2/3 of my avocado out and covered my toast and somewhere a hipster got its wings.

Always a great place to visit. If you are a fan of big food, look no further. It's wonderful to see the same faces year after year, and to be greeted and taken care of so warmly. I have to give Ashley a shout out because her smile is warmer than 100 suns.!Nice big windows for single diners to look out at and people watch. This is a great stop if you're just traveling through and want to catch a great bite to eat. Over 450 Omelette combos. 22 different sandwiches. Open 7 days a week 7am to 3pm. I absolutely adore this place. Hope you make the time to check it out. Parking up the street if you can't find anything out in front. They have beer, wine, champagne, and espresso.

Veggie garden omelette

Driving back down to the bay and was hungry and stopped in cute old town auburn. This place is so cute and cozy. All the waitresses know everyone and they are super. But the veggie omelette omg!!!! Biggest thing in the world. It's 2 meals for sure....thank you guys!

WHERE DO ALL THE LOCALS GO? Well, they dine at Edelweiss Restaurant 2 located in Old Town Auburn. Great little local joint where everyone knows your name! (note- Edelweiss Restaurant 1 is located in downtown Auburn and is managed separate of each other) This was my first visit to OId Town Auburn and Edelweiss Restaurant 2 and IMHO stood out above the other eateries. 46 omelet varieties? Sheesh! and the size of each omelet is 4 eggs!! 4 Eggs.... You'd think Paul Bunyan lived there. But they do offer 1/2 orders if your "Paul Bunyan" appetite can't have the full size 4 egg omelet. Now then, I'm from Hawaii (where "Loco Moco" was born) and Edelweiss Restaurant 2 had a Loco Moco on the menu. My travel partner ordered it so I had an opportunity to taste it. It was pretty darned good with a brown mushroom gravy over a LARGE bed of rice. If I'm ever passing through Auburn (which I do at least twice a year) I will stop in old town Auburn to try other items on Edelweiss Restaurant 2's menu. oh- one more thing= it's priced right.

I saw some pancakes go by and the name "Awful Waffles" makes my VEGAN self a little envious. Happily, I had enough to choose from that gave me some VEGAN friendly option! I celebrated my clients birthday yesterday!!…read more Happy Birthday, Dianne!!!! She picked Awful Annie's so she could enjoy an Awful Annie's Famous Body Mary! It had a touch of spice and was garnished with celery, a green olive, a spicy green bean, pepperchini, a lime, and a pearl onion. For lunch, we decided to order of the weekend specials menu! I ordered the Carnitas & chorizo Huevos Stack and she ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Dip... service was good. While we waited for our food, my client had to use the restroom twice. From where we were sat, it was quite a long walk, but it was an accessible ramp she was able to use since she has a cane. The steps would've been too much for her. When our meals arrived... both were stunning. My huevos Stack was not all it was cracked up to be. Although they had great crispy tortillas underneath, it had a lot of other soft foods on it that didn't give it much texture. Refried beans, over medium eggs, pico de gallo, red enchilada sauce, and not much meat on it to go around the plate to even it out. Dianne's Country Fried Steak Dip looked and tasted like it was created by someone that knows their breakfasts! Between 2 slices of parmesan toasted bread, there was a thin country fried steak, with over medium eggs, cheese, and BACON!!! And a side of gravy to dip into. That was a million times better than the huevos Stack! So I politely asked our server if I could switch to that special. She got the order in right away and it was out fast. Every bite had the perfect amount of flavor and their sausage gravy tasted insanely good! Both my client and I went home worth half of our meal. She was so happy and it melted my heart that I helped her have an amazing birthday. With the help of Awful Annie's, they helped her birthday become a home run!!! Delicious bloody Mary's, double delicious on our Country Fried Steak Dips, and fine service from the best in town! Thank you Awful Annie's!!

Happy Easter everyone!…read more Today, my daughter and I went out to breakfast here at Sweetpeas. It is located off the freeway on the corner of Bowman and Luther roads. There was plenty of parking when we pulled in. As you walk in, you seat yourself. I hadn't been here before, but my daughter has. When we sat down (table and chairs kinda place), one server got us a couple of waters while we were looking over the menu.. perfect, because that's what we love to drink. After we decided on what we wanted I got a chance to look around at the decor on the walls. It felt very family friendly with baby pictures on the walls, signs, coffee mugs along the restaurants name spelled out on the wall. It was very cute and cozy. My daughter ordered the Carnitas Omelet (Carnitas omelet with jack cheese, black beans, red onions, avocado, and black olives, topped with sour cream. Served with sourdough toast and fresh fruit) with strawberries. I ordered the Huevos Ranchero's with eggs over medium (Corn tortillas, refried beans, 2 eggs, sour cream, avocado, homemade salsa, and cheese cheese. Also served with a side of salsa.) We didn't wait long, it arrived within 10 minutes. Also, after smelling their delicious coffee, I had to have a cup! A+!!!! My daughter let me try her Carnitas Omelet. Their Carnitas is on point! It was tender and has great flavor! Her omelet was beautifully cooked, being that it was gorgeous, yellow and fluffy. My Huevos Ranchero's was crispy in the bottom as I requested. I love the topping of avocado. The only thing I would change is to get all the salsa on the side. There was quite a bit on the Huevos Ranchero's themselves and it was a little overwhelming. Next time, I'll order it completely on the side. The menu has it listed as homemade... it tasted a little bit like it was Pace chunky salsa. I didn't even touch the side of salsa that also comes in the side and I wasn't sure what the extra side of tortillas was for, but I took those home. My daughter took home about half of her 3 egg omelet and some toast. Maddy was a great server. Everyone helped each other out by doing coffee refills for all tables (not just their own), running out hot food, and helping clean up tables as people finished their plates. Great team work! We paid up in the front and we're on our way. BE SURE TO TIP YOUR SERVER FOR ALL THEIR HARD WORK!
