Food-my dish the sliced pork over vermicelli was beyond my expectations. Easily the tastier dish I've had. My daughter had tofu delight it came with a beautiful triangle rice portions. Very cute . On this very hot summer day, while I am still too sore to cook, we decided we wanted to try out Pho Tasty in Auburn. It was easy to spot from the road and it was an up front parking kinda day! As we walked in, the first thing you notice is the beautiful pink bosom tree. It so spacious and clean in here. There are tables with chairs, half booths, and booths available to sit in. The tables were clutter free of where we normally would see a chopstick/spoon/sauce caddie. Alley greeted us as we walked in and she let us sit wherever we wanted. I liked how there are big windows that allow a lot of light to shine in. The art in the walls was so beautiful. Even the bathroom was wall art (with a beautiful faucet)... and with the blossom tree inside the restaurant, it gave us a soothing mellow dining experience. We ordered the shrimp spring rolls for an appetizer to share. For our main entrée, we each ordered the XL bowl of Pho Dac Biet and a couple of waters to sip on. Our appetizer was out within a few minutes. Gorgeous plating and the peanut sauce is delicious. The spring rolls were good. I prefer them with a little more peanut sauce and ingredients in the roll. The ones we ate didn't have any coriander or mint. After a couple bites I looked for it and they weren't in there (those ingredients were listed on the menu for shrimp spring rolls) but they were still delicious and packed very full with lettuce and vermicelli noodles. For our Pho, first we sipped the broth... it was very good beef broth! The aroma isn't as strong as we are used to and the flavor not as strong... it was more delicate and light... it still tasted of perfection! I like how the thin rare steak on top was filet mignon. Very tender.... however, the broth was so hot, it cooked the steak almost all the way before it got to the table. Alley was kind enough to bring out a few extra slices of meat so that I could enjoy it the way I really like. Service was fantastic and you have to ask Alley about her adorable manager! You stopped by this Vietnamese and Chinese restaurant on the way back to Sacramento from Truckee. It has easy access right off of I-80. Sample parking, handicap, access, and plenty of seating. We are also surprised that being the only people here. The food was delivered quickly and did not disappoint. We had the coconut shrimp, Vietnamese chicken salad, pork bao, and bbq pork rice. Very tasty and large portions. I highly recommend this restaurant for those headed to and from the Sierra Nevada. read more

Well let's get the negatives out of the way.... The restaurant is FREEZING inside, and it is very unwarmimg furniture. It really needs some cozy booths and more things to fill the space. The original fast food restaurant still feels way to present for a high priced lunch/dinner meal. The pricing is not really competitive for our market here compared to other Pho locations especially with a soda priced at $5 ummm no thanks. Plus it looks closed from the street you can't tell if they are even still in business. The old drive through menu sign is not helping either. So now the goods... food tasted fantastic. (Although the kung pow chicken did not taste like your typical Kung pow it tasted more on the sweeter side.) rangoons were fantastic. (But again way to overpriced so a side. I want like options of 3, 6, 8). Not only 8 for $15. That's a whole other meal. Anyway back to the good. The Lemongrass chicken is where it's at. That is delicious. All of the meat quality seemed great and portions were decent. Plus the cook and wonderful and the waitlist who spends her long days cleaning because no one comes in to eat was so nice. So the big question is what I eat here again????? Ugh tough one... my answer is only if I was really desperate and craving it and I'm willing to drive further. I just think overall the price in the atmosphere wasn't worth the experience. Unfortunately. Different location maybe add some carpet booths maybe lower some of the prices. Also tried the sesame chicken (because it looked so good in another review) and it was great! Chef does a really good job on the flavor of the food. We know Pho Tasty in Davis. We're thrilled to see Pho Tasty in Auburn, at the Auburn Ravine Road exit, our regular gas stop on the way up and down from the Sierras. Same menu as Davis Pho Tasty! Yesterday, we dined early, and the food was delicious: Fried Tofu Vermicelli, Crispy Noodle Cake with Veg, Salt and Pepper Tofu, plus a takeaway order of fresh Spring Rolls and Veggie Chow Fun. The Salt and Pepper Tofu was airy, crisp and all the veg in every dish FRESH, perfectly crisp-tender cooked. Other favorites we like, Beef Pho (of course), Filet Mignon Beef Rolls, Thai Tea and Viet Coffee. We plan to stop in to Pho Tasty in Auburn weekly on our drive through. Hope others do too! read more

Service is still good and I've tried a few other things on the menu since my last review. The lunch and dinner specials are a great deal and I've been having the Mongolian beef. It's tasty and the filet mignon they use is always tender and cooked just right! The interior still looks like an old Carl's Jr but they tried to make it nicer. I didn't come for the decor so it's not a big deal for me. The place is overall clean and tidy. 4/5 overall read more

This was the 2nd local pho place we've tried and this one beats for food and service. The filet mignon pho is very flavorful and meat tender enough for my grandson to eat. The Mongolian beef with fried rice was seasoned to perfection as well. Our server was so sweet, she turned on "the bubbles" for our grandson which kept him entertained. She also brought him a cute kids water cup & rice. Our new local favorite! We will be back often. read more

Welllll, I am surprised at these good reviews, as this was not my experience at all. I went back a second time to give them another shot. (lunch both times) We were the only ones in the restaurant the entire time for lunch. The waiter was not attentive; and the restaurant was empty. The chef ran out of items both times I went there; and the food was overpriced for what we received. I will not be going there again. Disappointing as I thought it was something needed in that part of Auburn, however, I think they have a lot of work to do before it would deserve 4 stars let alone 5 stars. read more

If you're looking for a huge variety of Asian dish choices this is the place. From Pho to traditional Chinese and Vietnamese dishes this restaurant has it all. The young man who served us was pleasant and the food was yummy and came out of the kitchen. We had honey walnut chicken, chow fun, and salt and pepper green beans. All were delicious. King Pao Chicken is excellent. Veggies are fresh and the chicken is good quality. What impressed me the most are the flavors -- so much better than most Chinese restaurants that have that typical "flavor" that crosses all dishes. My boyfriend and I went on a Friday night about 5:30, we were the only ones there. Sat in to eat and as soon as we ordered our food, we could hear DoorDash orders starting to come in like crazy. Our drinks came out fast and the egg roll appetizer to follow. My boyfriend got the Pho Bo with fillet mignon and fat brisket and I got the seafood clay pot with white rice. The food was so freaking amazing! And our server was super nice and very attentive even though she had about bunch of to go orders that she was dealing with. The layout is very open and not so crowded for seating. There's 3 big tvs hanging up so maybe you could catch a football/basketball/baseball game on if you ask. 10/10 will be going back to try other things. Perfect for the cold weather. read more

Honey Walnut Prawns are off-the-hook. Some of the dishes when we brought guests, were breaded and over cooked (General Chicken), and I so wished they had tried some less traditional items that I have personally tasted and were excellent, like Clay Pot Seafood Combo, truly wonderful. Spicy Prawns was also excellent. I love their serving-ware, ie: real chop sticks, plates, tea servings etc. I personally enjoy what I eat off of, home and out. Service is good, bathroom is spotless and worth just taking a peak for its uniqueness. For the dining experience, since this is upgraded cuisine, I would add table clothes with a glass top to give a different feel. Overall, I will return again and again. We ordered it without MSG as one of our party had issues with it. The service was great. We had three children and the wait staff was really good with them. Tried this newly opened restaurant for our anniversary last night. Restaurant is clean and love the giant cherry blossom tree as well as the bubble fountain thing. Being new and coming in just over an hour before closing they we were the only sit down customers, but they had a steady stream of pick up orders. Our waitress was very nice and our food came very fast. We got the appetizer sampler (forgot to get a photo) which normally comes with two each of crispy egg roll, coconut shrimp, crab rangoon, potstickers and tempura shrimp. We opted to sub the tempura shrimp for more rangoons. The egg roll was pork and nice and crispy, I liked it will enough. The potstickers were fine. The rangoon wrapper was too thick in my opinion and the filling mostly just tastes like cream cheese. I don't mind at all that it's imitation crab and there was a tiny amount of green onions, but more green onions would have saved these for me. More green onions and a less thick wrapper would make me get these again. I really really liked the coconut shrimp though. They aren't as giant as the red lobster ones, but they were big enough for an appetizer and the coconut flavor and crunch were spot on! I will definitely get those again. I ended up going with the sesame chicken since I knew my husband was getting the lemongrass chicken. It was fine. I won't get it again, but not because anything was wrong, it just wasn't stand out good. The breading was cooked nicely, the sauce was just the right amount. It looks beautiful, it just didn't have a flavor that cravable. The house fried rice has chicken, sausage, bbq pork, shrimp and pineapple. We opted for no shrimp. It's really yummy. The only thing I would change is more basil, because it was hard to taste and makes a fried rice like this over the top good. The lemongrass chicken. When I tell you that I am constantly on the lookout for excellent Vietnamese lemongrass chicken, I mean ANY time I come across a Vietnamese restaurant it's the first thing I look for and you'd be surprised at how often it's disappointing. There is another local place that I got lemongrass chicken from and I couldn't taste ANY lemongrass in it at all. The dish was yummy, but not lemongrass. Lemongrass chicken should punch you in the taste buds with lemongrass flavor and this dish delivered! Not only that but it has these giant pieces of jalapeño in it that give it just the right little kick of heat (glad they were giant so they could be removed) and if you like to eat big pieces of jalapeño then go for it lol. The chicken was sooooo tender, which usually isn't the case for the skinny chicken that's usually in this dish. Most places, even if the flavor is spot on, overcook the chicken. 10/10 will be ordering it again. Oh, and they have Thai iced tea. There are two kinds of Thai iced tea in restaurants, one is the tea with half and half poured on just before serving and the kind that has sweetened condensed milk in the tea base and evaporated milk is added just before serving. People usually have a preference and I suspect it's a lot to do with whichever one you had first. My preference is the latter, with the sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk (but not overly sweet) this restaurant serves the former with the half and half. It was good for that kind, definitely not too sweet, but not the kind that makes me happy in my face hole. Overall I will definitely be going back for the coconut shrimp, lemongrass chicken and fried rice and I'll keep trying other things on the menu as well. Bonus, they accept card payments :) Update: I actually like the Sesame Chicken next day cold! It's a little hard (as to be expected) but more importantly it's not soggy. read more
