I have wanted to go to brunch for quite some time. Saw that Nectar had a brunch with bottomless (ish) mimosas. You had to pick your time and prepay, which made it nice to know we wouldn't be waiting in a long line to get in. We checked in with the bartender, filled our glasses with champagne and we topped them off with the juice of our choice. The brunch buffet was great. The home fires were tasty and the bacon was phenomenal. They also make omelettes to order. I highly recommend, for something out of the ordinary. We would definitely do this again. read more

Katie who helped coordinate my rehearsal dinner was amazing on 6/15! Unfortunately, that's where the great service stopped. We arrived at the venue and were asked for our drink orders, I ordered a drink for myself and fiancé and was not ID'd. Neither was anyone else. One of my bridesmaids gets to the dinner a little late and halfway through the night I realize she doesn't have a drink. I go to the bar to order a drink for her. The waitress, pours the beer and takes my credit card. When she goes to hand it to me she goes, "wait who is this for?" I was very confused because I'd been ordering drinks for myself and others earlier and hadn't been asked for any ID. When I responded it was for my bridesmaid (who is well over 21 and the oldest of all of us), she said, " she already tried and has no ID." and takes the beer back from me. Now I'm feeling extremely embarrassed because I didn't know she forgot her ID and the waitress' response was like I was purposefully trying to buy for someone under age. After that, this same waitress ignores me the rest of the night when checking on other tables around me. At one point I watch her gossiping to two other staff members behind the bar immediately after this happened. I felt like they're talking about what just happened, then they all three look over at me at the same time. Normally, I'd think I was paranoid but her treatment towards me the rest of the night was just rude which made me feel like they were talking about me. The whole dinner I just felt like the terrible service overshadowed the rehearsal and special time. I am very disappointed and the service and my treatment for something that was meant to be so special. Would not recommend an event here with that kind of service. read more

I ordered one of the brunch express items during the COVID-19 shut down and it did not disappoint. First, the price was a steal for the amount of stuff I got. Generous portions of potatoes, fruit, and scramble for breakfast burritos with all the fixings, a bottle of champagne and small container of orange juice. Second, the food was delicious. The potatoes were well seasoned and melted in your mouth. It was an amazing meal and I highly recommend trying the Nectar Express option (especially the brunch) while restaurants remain closed! read more

This is a little gem in the rough. Great location downtown with plenty of space. The employees know their stuff and can recommend great wines at great prices. Good selection of reds and whites available. The wine is all local Washington vineyards and available for sale. The food selection here is pretty limited (some pre-prepared cheese plates and baked brie). They let us bring in outside food (score!) while we drank some of their great wines. (picnic at the wine store?) I know that they do live music here on the weekends and other events. If you like good wine this place should not be overlooked. read more

It's a really beautiful space. Apparently the oldest, most historical building in downtown Spokane. Built in 1889! gorgeous brick and light fixtures that really create the mood. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I like wine, but I don't know much about it and they were able to pick out 2 Reislings for me that I enjoyed. Getting to the location is a tad difficult. I passed it a couple times before I was like oh wait there it is! I also enjoyed the meatballs. That's all I can say about that. They were some BOMB meatballs. I enjoy appetizers so much that meatballs and Reisling was perfect for me after getting off work. Went here for a work lunch. We were the only people there the entire time. Kind of a limited menu, with only salads, wraps, sandwiches, and a few appetizers. The best wine room in town! The building is brick and features arched doorways and hardwood floors. Great atmosphere with a positive buzz. The wine is delicious and reasonable priced. It was First Friday but I should have known that the service would be poor when we walked in and were immediately warned of their limited capabilities because it "would be busy". We stayed until 8:30, and yet I've still seen other places busier on a First Friday with immensely better service. Update: I did receive a follow up from the owner. Who is genuinely invested in customer satisfaction (so I upped my stars). One of my issues was an oversight of the friend I was with. We used this location last night for a work event and we were so happy. The venue is gorgeous by itself which is so nice when planning an event to not have to also plan time to decorate. We added a few simple touches. Working with Katie was wonderful. She made planning it all very easy and was organized and communicated well. We used the catering offered and it was all delicious. I've been to Nectar on several occasions in several different settings- from one on one with friends to a Nectar hosted Pinterest party to ringing in 2013 watching fireworks from their bay window. Every time I've been to Nectar it's been great, friendly, personal service. The staff is very knowledgeable about all their wine and they are able to help you pick out what you'll like best by listening to your preferences. They are great about making suggestions and helping you get the best bottle. They also know each of the vineyards they carry personally and can tell you great stories about the history of the wine (ask about Hard Row to Hoe). Hands down, one of the best places to grab a glass of wine and have some great conversation with friends. Would recommend it to anyone. read more

Planning during a pandemic brought some date changes as well as changes in guest count etc. The Catering Director, Katie, was personable as well as professional -- always responding in a timely manner. I've come to Nectar a few times, and love to bring those from out of town here. The wine they serve is great, and I love the atmosphere of the place. I do tend to avoid Nectar when music will be playing only because it gets a bit loud for my personal taste. I'm glad they finally brought in appetizers, but keep in mind this is a wine bar, and like many other wine rooms in Spokane, they don't have a food menu. I have always had great service here. My favorite time to go is in the summer when the patio seating opens up, allowing for more people-watching and slightly quieter seating street-side. It's my favorite way to start a night downtown or wind-down afterwards. read more

I have been here a couple of times since the initial visit for specific events. So, the visits have been incidental rather than intentional. For the most part it's been fine. I had gradually gotten over the bad taste in my mouth left from the first experience. However, that was quickly changed when I visited recently and ate some of their food. We were there for an event with friends and our table ordered the antipasto plate, coconut shrimp, and s'mores skillet. The antipasto was poorly composed. In addition to prosciutto and Italian ham, there was cheddar cheese, Swiss cheese, caper berries, kalamata olives, and hummus. It was challenging/weird to eat because, other than the olives and the hummus, nothing paired well. It felt like a tray of odds and ends someone pulled out of their fridge. I have a hard time imagining anyone intentionally putting these particular foods together. And of all the delicious cheeses in the world, why on earth would you serve cheddar and Swiss?! Is this 1970? Are we at a church basement potluck?! The coconut shrimp were fine, but they clearly weren't house made and I'm 99% sure they were the frozen ones from Costco. The s'mores skillet was perhaps the biggest food fail I've seen in recent memory. It consisted of half burned chocolate chips topped with baby marshmallows and came with graham crackers on the side for dipping. The chocolate was almost entirely ceased-up and the marshmallows made a hard unappetizing crust on the top. Taking the time to make a proper chocolate sauce and marshmallow cream would have gone a long way to making this dish edible. As it was, it reminded me of the kind of late-night snack your college roommate makes when they're high. Additionally, the staff made no attempt to control some unruly patrons who were being disruptive during the performance taking place (a performance everyone purchased tickets to attend), despite being asked by multiple customers numerous times. And when our bill arrived, we were charged for over twice as much as we ordered and it took the waitress multiple attempts to present a correct bill. I enjoyed the wine and I do like the space and location. I give it two stars because I understand this is a wine bar, not a restaurant. However, if you're going to serve food, there is no reason you can't have a couple well thought out and properly executed small plates. Fortunately, there are lots of other truly great establishments in the area to have small bites. My advice is to avoid the food at all costs and carefully double check your bill. read more

However, I think they could really capitalize on the concept and offer more food and have it be similar to something like the left bank just down the street from them. This place is located in prime real estate. Very centralized downtown Spokane. The staff for the most part is super friendly and helpful. Our catered lunch was not good. We had it catered at our place of business and it was just not very good. Bland marinara and alfredo for the pasta and the chicken tasted like it was canned. It looked nothing like what is shown on the website which is what I assume is what you get when you use their facility for a catered event, it was just incredibly disappointing. I would not recommend catering out unless you definitely get a tasting of what will be served first. read more

Without a doubt, the VERY BEST winery in Spokane! The owner, Josh Wade, is extremely knowledgable about wines and especially wine pairings. The five wineries that comprise Nectar have an outstanding selection of wines for every taste. Josh deliberately picked the wineries based on a myriad of categories, but to my simple criteria, they all taste GOOD! What a great way to sample Washington wines! Moving from Northern California - where wine is a verb - to Spokane, I never imagined how awesome Washington wines could be. Absolutely recommend . Katie was warm, efficient and accommodating to work with beginning to end. Steven , the chef greeted us. The Italian menu we chose with 3 appetizers was enjoyed and complimented by many of our guests. Having those tasteful appetizers really set off the event. We used drink tickets to provide a couple complimentary drinks. Nice beer and wine selection. Also soft drinks , coffee and tea. It added to the event being in this historic building . Walking distance from many downtown hotels. But also parking across the street. We gave the already inviting wood tables and delightfully lighted space our own touch of wedding colors with tablecloths and thistle centerpieces. We were able to play our own playlist of music on their system And there was a microphone available . Couldn't have been more satisfied! We held our son's rehearsal dinner at Nectar on Saturday Sept 1, 2018. We cannot tell you how pleased we were with EVERYTHING. We worked with Katie to coordinate the event. She was great and so helpful. Everything was how we wanted it. The day of the event Jenny set us up exactly like we wanted and worked the event. Everyone was served timely and graciously. The food from the salad to the entree and dessert were excellent. The room and accommodations were beautiful as we sat right in the middle of downtown. LOVED IT! i ordered the garden pizza while my friends had the salmon terrine and artichoke dip. we shared a bottle of chardonnay, dessert was this s'mores thing. they were quite stingy with their crackers and bread that were actually part of the dishes and the dishes were mostly spreads other than the pizza, which was actually very good and a fair size. the s'mores dessert was literally chocolate kisses halfway melted with some small marshmallows and graham crackers. so basically something a 5 year old could've thrown together. i ate with 2 others and had a combined bill and specified that we each wanted to have the yelp offer of $5 off our individual bill + the $10 for $20 for a total of $15 off each. the server asked the manager who approved but i realized afterward we ended up with only one $15 off. i guess if we received all 3, it would've been ridiculously cheap. it was an expensive meal and though my pizza was good, i'm not exactly coming back for that. i understand the main concentration here is wine as they had a very limited menu, mostly appetizers. the ambiance was good, it was dim. there are mostly older people there. our server was very attentive, checking in every so often and she was very nice. however, we never got served any water! i kept on thinking of asking for some but being tipsy makes you forget. read more

spending summer in kendall yards neighborhood. have always had good experience with Nectar for wine purchase and enjoying a glass of wine. decided to take our friends there yesterday who had a 13 yo. walked in and was told sit anywhere in the couch area with the child. open couches. but others sitting there. asked if we could join two ladies who were on the 'other couch', caught an attitude but waved us in. then the server comes over to the back side of the couch and apologizes for us sitting there and asking them if it was ok. totally unnecessary, since the staff didn't take the time to help/assist us in finding a place to sit. ladies copped another attitude when I asked them directly if there was a problem. disappointed in how this was handled. got up and left, but not before the server involved said 'have a nice day'! we went down the street to Maryhill and spent 150 bucks on wine and appetizers, your loss Nectar. If Nectar was a movie, it would be Sharknado. It's like they were trying to be awful. The "courses" were like something a bad babysitter would concoct if there was nothing left in the cupboards, thinking "Hey, maybe the stupid kids won't realize this sucks." For example, the first course of honey baked ham. Maybe we should just take some shitty ham and make it even saltier? Perfect! The second was just as bad, unless you're a child who loves pork'n'beans, in which case, show some ID, because you are way too young to be in a wine bar. The third course of dessert was impressively bad, as it was basically Jell-O pudding with Hershey's syrup thrown on top. If I dined on frozen dinners for the entirety of my life, this meal might have been palatable. Every bite I took, I asked myself, "Why are you doing this?! You deserve better!" Nectar, please make sure your guests are incoherently drunk before serving them the atrocity you call "A three course meal." read more
