I mean if you like spending a lot of money on food with little taste, than sure. It was really different, to say the least. I wouldn't go here again, unless I was forced to. We wanted to like this place. We ordered 2 breakfast dishes for (Covid) take-out. The pesto eggs were delicious. It came with a generous 1/2 sliced avocado... It was sad to see at that price that the avocado had black spots. (See photo ) Maybe the "platers" don't see this as a problem... But it's not appealing. Eggs also came with HARD seeded bread. If you like that sort of bread it would've been a good thing to put the eggs on. We also ordered breakfast waffles. We slightly reheated them in the toaster to get a but crunchy outside and moist inside ... and full flavor. However at their crispiest they tasted mealy and oily. The three toppings that came with it were interesting but it didn't make up for the waffle texture and taste. We also got three of their baked goods which were absolutely delicious! Pumpkin muffin! Coffee cake!! Both were excellent alternative grain choices. The blueberry muffin was less interesting but they do have a huge selection to choose from. We ordered: Carne Asada Fries, Breakfast Sandwich and Pepperoni pizza while visiting and all our dishes were delicious. Not "delicious for being healthy food" but gourmet -amazing-mouth-wateringly good for any kind of food. To take home, we got a classic style cupcake, hostess style cupcake and cinnamon roll. I tried all three and would definitely get any of them any day but my family agrees the star of the show was the cinnamon roll. I read mixed reviews on it and I think the issue is that the people writing negative reviews don't reheat it at home before eating it. It makes it soft and gooey and perfect. The service was also fantastic, the man taking our order was so patient and engaging with my little girl and kept checking in on us and making the experience special for her. It was so clean and relaxing. We sat outside and it was the perfect way to end our little day trip. We will definitely be back and bring friends and family! read more

The staff here are always so patient with any inquiries I have about ingredients, and for that, I am forever grateful. I legit have autoimmune disease...Celiac disease being one of them...so I have to be really careful with certain ingredients or I can get really sick (cue sad music). 4 stars because sometimes my stomach gets a little upset after some of the dishes (notably anything with the sweet potato in it), and I have had a few pizzas where there was barely any sauce and the dough was overdone (it makes a really great gluten free pizza go waaaaay down in quality when that happens). i've been coming here for years and have always had pretty much impeccable service and food. But the last two times i've been helped by a specific employee, and it makes not want return. It's a shame because it's such a great restaurant. I don't know this employees name, but she's a very short white girl with long blond hair. Me and my girlfriend and entire family came in to enjoy a breakfast--she was rude and short upon making the order. When the food arrived, my order was wrong. I asked for no guacamole as i do every time because i'm allergic to avocados. When i told her i said no guacamole, she responded with "well i don't remember you saying that". I was honestly shocked. Especially for a restaurant that's based around allergens, the fact the waitress argued with me about my guacamole order is beyond me. After I explained that i didn't order guacamole, she rolled her eyes and was visibly upset that she had to take the food back. Which is crazy because she's the one that incorrectly recorded my order in the first place. When she brought my food finally, she didn't say anything, no acknowledgement that i had to wait another 10 minutes for my food. We said "thank you" and she actually just turned around and walked away to make it obvious she was irritated. We also overheard her arguing with another customer about a the pickup time of his order. She was also incredibly rude to him. It's honestly crazy that someone like that is running the floor. This is leucadia, if you're that bent out of shape because of an order is wrong, time to go back where you transplanted from. It totally ruined the vibe of the breakfast and I absolutely cannot wait to avoid this person in the future. We tipped before we got our food, and i wish we hadn't. horrible service. Wow, do we come here a lot even though it's a 45 minute drive for us. I was introduced to Nectarine Grove by a friend who has celiacs and enjoys coming here to consume anything she wants off the menu. It's tucked in between business so parking can be hard sometimes but man are they worth it. My daughter loves the carrot cake here and is quite content just sitting and watching the doggies that come in. I've explored a couple of things on the menu and have enjoyed all of them. I especially love the mimosas, healthy kelp shots, and essentially all of their baked goods. We like coming here before perusing the Leucadia farmers market. There's always a long whenever we've come, but it's always worth it. There are few gluten free dining options in San Diego and this is one of the best! Gluten-free English muffins are amazing, and not to be missed. The chicken and waffles are one of their best sellers, and the plantain crusted chicken is phenomenal. Asked about the burger and the server didnt offer much information of hows its prepared, so figured to order something they may be known for. Decided to try the Breakfast Sammie and Chicken and Waffles. The bread was very dry and the waffles tasted like cardboard. The chicken was very small nuggets (smaller and dryer than McDonalds). Overall, if you're in the mood for hearty or savory food, this is not the place. Prices are on the high side, probably reflecting non-glueten, non-everything diet. If the food quality improved and if the attitude of the employees were better may consider returning, but many better options in the Area. read more

I have never been so awed at a "healthy" establishment as a late brunch/lunch at Nectarine Grove! The restaurant is light and airy, and there's seating inside and out on the patio. You order up front, and they'll find you when your food is ready. The "Breakfast Sammie" (~$10) is huge and packed full of fresh and nutritious goodness. They practically stuffed an entire avocado in there, and there's absolutely no way your plate will not be filled with dripping egg yolk and other sandwich debris. To add a twist, I would touch up the sandwich with some of the hot sauce they provide on the tables. The coffee I tried (a basic vanilla latte) was okay. They warned me that they ran out of vanilla syrup, so that's probably why. But here's where they shocked and awed me the most. Their new, seasoned (truffle oil?) fries! Trust me - I eat a lot of fries. They're practically a food group to me, and I don't dole out this accolade lightly. With that said, I am confident to give Nectarine Grove the title of "best fries in San Diego!" They're flavorful, PERFECTLY crispy, and an absolute delight to pop into your mouth. Even if everything else on their menu sucked - which fortunately is untrue - I would come back here for the fries alone! read more

3.5 stars: good with the potential to be great. I love their: 1) Comfy outdoor seating, great vibes! 2) Pizzas - both the pepperoni pizza and BBQ chicken pizza were home runs. The (grass-fed) cheeses and toppings are delicious. I like their "kid style" tomato sauce though my husband didn't care for it. These pizzas are messy though, and I imagine the thick, greasy, focacia-like crust has a calorie count similar to Chicago deep dish. 3) Pastries and baked goods. Sinfully good! 4) Compostable containers (not including the lids) Room for improvement: Consistency and freshness 1) I had the chimichurri steak bowl with the butternut squash noodle base twice, once for take-out and once to eat in. The first time (take-out), everything about it blew me away, and it was enough for 2 meals! The second time it was pretty meh and did not inspire me to order it again. I think the second time it just wasn't very fresh. 2) I got the fried chicken salad to go. There were 4 big chunks of chicken rather than sliced-up tenders I'd seen in photos. Hard to eat, especially with no utensils! The crisp breading was tasty, but the chicken was overcooked and very chewy around the edges. The salad itself looked like it was assembled 1-2 days prior. Uninspired romaine with old, mushy-looking (didn't eat them) tiny diced tomatoes, dried-out carrot shreds, dried cranberries and a small portion of avocado. 3) Is it just me or does everything but the pizzas need TONS of salt added? 4) Would have been nice if they offered utensils and plates for 2 large to-go pizzas plus a salad that we picked up during lunch time read more

I'm usually in the Encinitas area at least once a month, and always looking for some new eats. I've had Nectarine Grove bookmarked, and decided to check it out. Their menu is a variety of of everything, whether your on a diet restriction, paleo, gluten free, vegan, vegetarian...they have it for ya! I ordered their protein plate with turkey sausage, you have a choice of either bacon or turkey sausage. It was a perfect meal to start the day. You get your greens, carbs and protein all in one plate. The turkey sausage patty was flavorful and you can tell it's made in house. It had the right amount of seasoning. The eggs were on the medium side, and hardly any runny yolk, but still good. Service was okay, it took a while for the person behind the counter to take my order, as I stood there for a few minutes. But I'll be back again and maybe get some of their baked goods...they looked good on the display case! They have a small parking lot, but it gets pretty busy, so street parking might be a better option. read more

My husband and I ate lunch here today. I was excited because I have celiac and a gluten free restaurant is a dream come true. The coffee was horrible (a flat white and a cappuccino). So bitter and strong. Had to add 3 sugars to drink it. This is something I order everywhere. I had the Boss burger and had 2 bites before the bun fell apart. I am bringing it home to put on some gf bread. The fries were so salty! I would prefer to add my own salt. My husband had a burrito and it was good. We tried 2 desserts- apple spice cake and berry pound cake but both were disappointing. I expected them to be delicious but they were below average. We spent $60 and I guess I hoped it would be better. Please come up with a gf bun that is strong enough to hold a burger. We will try again sometime and hope for better results. read more

Healthy, nutrient rich foods that don't compromise on flavor. Everything on the menu is gluten free, so if you have a gluten sensitivity you can really go nuts here. I don't have a gluten sensitivity but this place really opened my eyes on how delicious gluten free alternatives can be. I ordered the Heirloom tomato toast. A gluten free baguette with herbed cashew spread, dried oregano, micro arugula with a juicy, thick-cut beefsteak tomato on top. It came with a small side salad of arugula with a light vinaigrette. They have lots of drink and smoothie options. I went for the Glorious Greens (apple, kale, parsley, cucumber, celery, banana) with a coconut water base. It was ok. It was super sweet and I couldn't taste much other than the banana. I like green drinks a bit more earthy. In total it was just over $15 for toast and a smoothie. Not too bad. This would have been 5 stars but it took nearly 30 min to get my food. They brought the food out for the person I was dining with promptly but mine took forever. read more

I have to give the strangest review. I LOVE Nectarine Grove. It's one of the only places I've found in America where I know and trust that there's no cheap, toxic oils, additives, gluten, canola or any of the usual junk found in even the most upscale restaurants. I always feel safe eating there and regularly use half a tank of gas to drive from Downtown all the way and back to pick up a meal and stock up on some pastries and bread. However, yesterday I had a baffling experience that left me actually sad. I simply asked the cashier "What time and temperature do you use to reheat the cinnamon rolls." She looked confused and asked: "Do you want me to heat them up for you?" I very politely said no thank you and repeated my question as I had just purchased two of them and wanted to reheat them myself when I got home. Again, she looked confused and said "I don't know" so I asked her if she could find out and she began to look frustrated and ask another staff member who then also looked a bit confused and then asked a man in a suit who I assume was either the owner or the general manager. He came over and asked me to clarify so I calmly repeated what I feel is a very simple question: "What time and temperature do you use to reheat the cinnamon rolls." He said: "We use an oven with a preset setting that heats it for a certain amount of time and temperature." ...at this point, I still show no emotion or attitude but in my head, I'm losing faith in humanity and feeling as though I might be stuck in a weird dream so I said "Right... and what is that time and temperature?" to which he replied "I don't know but I could go find out for you" in a flustered tone as if I was being difficult. At this point the energy between he and the cashier felt very negative. He eventually came back and sort of abruptly snapped the answer at me. I really don't know what happened here and it left me utterly nonplussed to the point where I silently drove my 45 minutes back home reflecting on what the holy hell just happened and why I was being given attitude. Also... the time and temperature he told me didn't work out so if anyone needs the answer: 325f for 15 minutes, then top with the icing and continue to bake for 5 more minutes. Food 10/10 Service: Consciousness breaking/10... at least it was yesterday. read more

Great place for people with eating restrictions. It's a self service spot that is still working out its kinks in terms of organization. You have to get all of your own silverware when you order food - it was not stocked with forks and enough ketchup. We had the protein plate and eggs benny - the food was flavorful and had good presentation. Not the best brunch food but top notch. The GF BBQ chicken pizza is to die for especially with Vegan Mozzarella! A must have!!!! They will customize EVERYTHING and I have yet for them to make a mistake. It's probably bc they have so many different diets on the menu- vegan, vegetarian, keto, paleo. All of the pastries are GF as well. If you haven't had the cinnamon rolls you are missing out in life. I typically do pick up but since Covid happened, give them an extra 15-20 minutes on your order (at least 45min) because of their influx of to go orders. Parking sucks since it's on the 101 so I usually do a drive by or have someone drop me around the corner. read more

The food itself is really great. I got the Fajita Bowl and added chicken, and chose the butternut squash noodles as my base. I liked the option to choose a veggie, instead of having to do rice or quinoa. Everyone I ate with seemed to enjoy their food as well. But the overall layout of the restaurant is what makes me give it a lower rating. The area where you order is right dead center by the door, so when you are waiting in line you are basically interfering with the entire traffic flow of the restaurant. If you choose to sit inside, your conversation with be interrupted with the sounds of blenders, metal chairs scraping against the floors, etc. The acoustics of the place somehow make it so you can hear every little thing that's happening in there. But, as I said, my bowl was good. Next time I would probably just call ahead and get it as takeout. read more
