I'm a frequenter at this spot. I always get the same thing (creature of habit). Every time I think of trying something new I start craving my regular again. Maybe next time . I love the chicken pad Thai. I'm not a tofu eater so I always get it with no tofu and extra bean sprouts. They're usually pretty quick for take out and the atmosphere in the restaurant is always pleasant. The only tough thing is I usually have to double park to pick up and Grand Ave is pretty busy. Felt rush when the server took all the plates plus my coconut drink that I wasn't done with not long after we were done eating, then immediately brought the bill over. I understand if it was busy but there were no line and had many empty tables. I get that she took the plates but she even took my coconut drink when I'm not even done with it. The only thing she didn't take was the free water. As for the food, the tofu and eggplant dish my friend ordered was salty and the tofu was a little dry. The chicken pad see ew I ordered taste like dimsum rice rolls mix with a light sweet soy. The noodles were not taken apart all the way so it's bland when you bite into the middle. The mushroom added a weird taste in it. I never had pad see ew with mushrooms. The appetizers were good. The vegetarian papaya salad had a great tangy lemon flavor to it. I have tried this restaurant 2x so far and I must say I enjoyed the food both times, the first time I order on doordash and the 2nd time I sat & had dinner at the restaurant. The restaurant has a nice chill vibe and the staff are very nice & attentive. There was no long wait to be seated which was great, we were seated right away and given menus and water with lemons and I also order a Thai tea which was very good yum one of my favorite drinks, our waiter was very pleasant and smiled all the time ,she was great I definitely recommend this place for some good Thai food. The plate presentation is cute , my food was served very hot and came with alot of flavor. We order the beef spare ribs, BBQ chicken , stir fry eggplant wit tofu, and shrimp-chicken pad Thai . Neecha baby is the secret Gem on Grand Lake Ave. This Thai spot is so delicious and the food is always on point. My go to here is the Yellow Curry Lamb chops and let me tell you these chops are prepared on a grill to perfection! They are never dry or over cooked. Came here with a friend who raved about it. Her favorite place to eat Thai food. And so it's a small cozy place on Grand Avenue and parking is the pits! But we got lucky and found a free space on a Saturday afternoon across from the Farmer's Market! I love the decor of the place and the food was delish and has a kick to it. We shared the fried calamari and the Immortals Stir Fry! The fried calamari was not what I expected with the tasty tangy sauce on top but it was very tasty and the Immortals Stir Fry has some of my favorite items like Wood Ears (fungus), asparagus and other tasty delights that has a kick to it. Not only do they have corn fritters but they somehow make a light and flakey GLUTEN FREE pastry dough to envelop their yummy curry puffs! I doubted if something so delicious could be gf and indeed no bloating or farting! (Sorry everyone else, this is the reality of my belly, it's not a fad diet.) Also, both come with a unique cucumber salad that is a delightful complement to each dish! So our food had great flavor but the spice level was inconsistent I'm the only one in my house that likes spicy so I ordered my dishes spicy but when they arrived the Tom yum was spiciest and inedible for the rest of my family I could hardly tolerate it. We hung out at the bench outside the place while we waited for our ordered to be prepped. They have a separate vegetarian menu, which I very much appreciated. The service was friendly, and rather quick (we were there during rush hour). Starters were very delicious. Red curry, I hoped would be spicier - will ask for more spicy next time. The food has been hit or miss. The Thai tea isn't that great. I always have pumpkin curry from different Thai restaurants. Go here frequently but the service is just so bad. Today, when I picked up a to-go order and asked for a couple Andes chocolates for my kids, Seena (not sure spelling) gave me a dirty look. She then told me she'd charge me $ for extra chilis in my meal. Have you ever heard of a restaurant charging you to make the food more spicy? My rice was half full. See photo. Sometimes the chicken is undercooked and disgusting so I always ask that they cook the chicken extra to be safe. And the service almost certainly has issue. But to nickel and dime for chocolates that they serve at the end of the meal, or for extra chili, is beyond acceptable. I don't know why I haven't written this yet--I should have written a review years ago! Maybe it's just that Covid has me really appreciating my local restaurants. In a city with no shortage of excellent Thai restaurants--Neecha really sets itself apart from the rest because of their unique menu and delicate flavors. (One example is their pork and shrimp fried spring roll lumpia that is served with a lovely strawberry sauce.) Or the crispy fried shrimp that you can even eat the shell--because they are THAT good! They have all of the usual items as well (pad thai, curries, etc.) but do not be scared to try something on their menu or a special. They are amazing! And when I've ordered pick up or delivery during Covid I was always pleasantly surprised with how everything was carefully packaged and remained fresh and traveled well.
