Some of their dishes are really delicious, for example, masala dosa, vegetable pakoras, various chaats, etc. we've also been disappointed by some dishes, for example onion pakoras (too oily) and chana bhatura (too crispy). Amazing to find such a place in Detroit! I have lived in southern India and Malaysia so I was hoping for something more like that - it was very good for the USA. The menu is extensive. Usually chaats are given in small portions so we ordered a full sized thaali for me and a Raj kachori + dhokla for my friend. I was shocked at the quantity of dhokla given - usually there are 4 pieces that are served. Here they cut out a whole slab of 8 thick pieces and put on a plate for us. I could have eaten just their dhokla for lunch and skipped the thaali. (Be prepared to box some food to take home.) the thaali was yummy. Tasted authentic. The raita and Shrikhand were super thick and creamy. I will go back many more times to try all the items on their menu! We went during lunch hours and there was an office crowd of 10 people that walked in before us so we had to wait in the queue to place orders, to get our food etc. after that it wasn't so crowded. Not many places here offer veg manchurian, so i was really excited to try that. I was not disappointed at all, the dry manchurian was well cooked and tasted just like the one you get in India! Had to come all the way to Troy for some pav bhaji! My husband and I live in Chicago but ever since pav bhaji in Mumbai, Indore and at my family's house, we wish we had it somewhere local. Leaving my husband's grandparents' home with his father, we zipped by and I read "Indian street food" and immediately checked to see if they had some PB. They did. Quick u-turn, pickup order of PB, Chana Bathura, idli sambar, and my in laws had their first "Indian street food" experience and loved it. I don't get the complaining on the prices, wait and staff - it's a fast food type joint with tasty flavorful food that may take a bit more time and prep than your standard Mc D's. Relax. You'll get your food and it's yummy. And remember, you're in Michigan and getting some good, unique Indian dishes. The food had a little kick and was very tasty! Probably my To-go place to satiate my love for Indian street style food. Had been here many times. My fav here is Pav Bhaji. Samosa chaat is exceptional. Sweet yogurt with tangy tamarind chutney makes it a super chaat. Also try Mango lassi. I was disappointed once when I ordered for fried noddles. I really like this concept and it's like nothing else I've ever encountered. We went there during lunch on a weekday and took advantage of couple of their lunch special. This place would be on the more expensive side if we didn't get this lunch discount. But since you don't have to tip, I guess the prices are fair. Even though this place is vegetarian, it's by no means a healthy meal and should only be indulged once in awhile. We got the gobi manchurian, masala dosa, and Chole Bhature. The gobi manchurian is definitely reminiscent of a certain classic chinese dish. And the dosa was crispy and fresh. My personal favorite was the Chole Bhature. It might not look like much but the fried bread was just heavenly and the chickpea curry was very complex in flavor. I could definitely see myself coming back and induling in that again. read more

This was my first time trying Indian vegetarian street food and I loved it! The menu is huge, with tons of options, and the staff was incredibly nice and helpful. Since I am not particularly familiar with this type of food they guided us to several dishes to try. None of their suggestions disappointed! We tried the chole bhature, a dosa, and masala. The portions are generous and shareable and each dish was filled with so much flavor and we left completely satisfied. It was such a hearty meal. The owner was even kind enough to stop at our table and chat with us for a bit. We were also able to try the ice cream, and both the ginger and rose were delicious. The atmosphere of Neehee's is completely laid back and comfortable. We never felt rushed and it was a great place to celebrate my sister's birthday dinner. I will definitely be coming back here to try even more amazing food and enjoy the welcoming, clean atmosphere! This place is like a gold standard in Indian vegetarian snacks and street food in the metro detroit area. It's spotless clean all the time, but gets super busy on Friday/Saturday nights and wait times can be longer, never to find a table to sit but for food to arrive. Sweets and desserts are great. There is more fried food here than at a county fair. And so far, it's all been excellent. Make sure you go with someone who knows what they're doing, or ask the manager for suggestions. Otherwise, you could spend your entire afternoon reading the menu. Paneer chili and gobi manchurian are fantastic, and very similar - beautiful fried pieces of cheese/veg covered in spicy red goodness. The chole bhatture is also highly recommended, and comes with the most amazing fried bread I've ever had. The bhatture is so good, I almost forgot about the dosas, which are the size of your arm. Not your forearm - your entire arm. The pani puri didn't overwhelm me - it's simply a very thin fried dough shell empty on the inside. I don't know how they made it, and they were tasty, but not something I feel the need to order again. Plus, I couldn't figure out how to get it to retain any of the watery chutneys. The dahi samosa chaat was enjoyable, though the internal temp suggests the samosa may have been deep fried straight out of the freezer. Finally, we got my son a cheese and jam dosa. A full-frickin-sized dosa, with a sprinkling of cheese and shaped into a pyramid. Way too much for a 2-year-old to eat, but he enjoyed it. I've had great service, and they bus the tables, so I'm not sure why some people are leaving 1-star reviews. It's a big and fancy building, so maybe people forget that it's not a McDonald's. If the restaurant's been empty for an hour at 8:30PM, it won't kill anyone to close up a half hour early. Experience#1: Went in to place an order for take out, and I was given a pager and lady at the entrance told me, "Wait time to place an order is 20 to 30 minutes." But the fact is half of the restaurant was vacant on a weekday evening and there are no body at the register ordering food. I tried to explain her that I know exactly what I want and I would like to place an order for take out. She laughed and said, sorry you have to wait to place an order. I just handed over the pager back to her and left, as I honestly don't see any point to wait for 20 minutes to place an order for take out. Experience #2: We were driving by the place on Wednesday evening, and decide to stop by. Sign says they are open from 4 to 9 PM, but when we pulled in to the parking lot, we noticed closed sign at entrance, when time was 8:40 PM. Not sure why they close early than 9PM, as advertised. The food is brilliant, the atmosphere is lovely, and this just may be my favourite place to eat in all of Michigan. The Methi Gota is delicious and wonderful. I love the Masala Puri. The ice cream is homemade and luscious. (Neehee's Mawa Elaichi is probably my favourite ice cream of all time. The rose and Kesar Pista is also great.) Both the mango & rose lassi are so good, the chai is wonderful, and the falooda is incredible. The customer service here is great, and people are so kind, welcoming & helpful. Service is... not. 45 minute wait to order takeout & 15 minute cook time. No phone in orders - the phones are not even activated. Everyone gets the same treatment - dine in & carryout. You wait to order and then you either sit or leave. It would be much appreciated if the carry out orders could be simplified... I don't mind waiting to eat in. I don't mind waiting an hour to receive food even for carryout when the restaurant is busy. I DO mind that I'm not even allowed to put in my order for takeout (and pay) for 45 minutes! We have been waiting for this restaurant to open for 6 months. We are not from India but really enjoy the cuisine. I jokingly say that I never ate a vegtable I didn't like cooked at an Indian restaurant. THIS IS AN AMAZING VEGETARIAN MENU and we aren't vegetarian. To say the menu is daunting is an understatement. It has 60 some choices AND written in Indian HOWEVER the owner is working on a menu with descriptions of the snack for all the non Indians. So faced with a long line, a long wait and a menu we couldn't understand we did what we always do, talk to the people in line and ask them for their help. They explained, we circled 4 items everyone agreed on, enjoyed the conversation and waited in anticipation for our food. We watched everyone walk by with their food and said, OH that looks good! I can honestly say that everything was deliciously amazing. We ordered C15 samosa ragda, C26 bhalla papdi chaat, M1 chole bhature and M7 mini Gujrat thali. So, with so many choices we have decided to try 4 new things every visit and go thru the whole menu...that's 15 plus visits! We can't wait. read more

Rude customer service. Well food is hyped because it's the only place With wide variety of Indian street food. However staff is just rude so much that they make sarcastic comments. If you cannot use use golden words finr, but do not show arrogance and use words like "I don't care!!" I think staff is rude because (a) they have too much business as they are the Only place with Indian street food. I was amazed at the exhaustive menu - all kinds of Dosas, all kinds of Chat, veggie burgers, sandwiches. Food is very well prepared, aromatic and very well presented. The negative is - you will have to order all your food in one shot - including your dessert, and Chai ( which are generally end of the meal items in an Indian setting ). They have no way to keep a tab open and add items. That is not very convenient as it gets very crowded here and you can't afford to stand in line for just a cup of post meal chai. read more
