Only then was I told that there was a $145.00 "one time single use instrument" office charge that isn't submitted to the insurance company and is "an office charge for instruments used during the procedure". Sounds like something that should be included in the cost of a procedure since these instruments are needed to perform the procedure. As if dealing with insurance companies isn't bad enough, I shouldn't have to worry about my doctor charging extras to get more money out of me.

Every time I had to reschedule was due to circumstances beyond my control--a serious motor vehicle accident that ultimately required spine surgery, a dental infection for which my dentist prescribed antibiotics before treatment, and an unexpected death in my family requiring out-of-town travel. Despite giving approximately 48 hours' notice for one appointment, I was still charged a $50 rescheduling fee even though I understood the office required only 24 hours' notice. I paid the fee because I wanted to continue my care. What ultimately led me to not have my endodontics work done there was the lack of professionalism and compassion shown by one staff member. Rather than listening to my concerns or responding with empathy during difficult life events, I was met with rudeness, dismissed when I questioned whether treatment should proceed while I had an active infection, and, after explaining that I had experienced a death in my family, was told the office would no longer schedule appointments for me and that I should find another endodontist. I understand that scheduling policies are necessary, but patients dealing with genuine medical issues and family emergencies deserve courtesy, professionalism, and respect. My review is about the horrible customer service experience at their Clinton, Maryland location, which left a very negative first impression of this practice.

They also do not try to upsell you on unnecessary procedures because it is "recommended". Overall, it is a good place if you are just looking for cleaning and the routine twice a year exam. Sadly, my experience has gone downhill so badly that I can no longer stay quiet. I have been in pain since July. After an extraction and multiple return visits, Audubon kept doing x-rays, finding nothing, and billing me--while I continued to report pain. It took months before I was finally sent to a specialist, who instantly found the problem: a cracked tooth. Something Audubon's dentists should have caught much earlier. Things got worse when my dentist was on vacation. I was in severe pain, and I was told another dentist in the office would help. Instead, that dentist refused to treat me and told the office manager to just schedule me with my regular dentist--two weeks later! Imagine being told to "just wait" when you can't eat on either side of your mouth and have already been suffering for months. Thankfully, I found another dentist on my own. They saw me the very next day, diagnosed the problem correctly, and scheduled me for treatment this week. That's how dental care is supposed to work. To be fair, the office manager Julie was kind and tried to help, but she had no support from the dentists. The failure is with the dentists and with Audubon's system of care. Bottom line: I can no longer trust this practice. The negligence, lack of compassion, and repeated dismissal of my pain is unacceptable. If you value timely and competent care, look elsewhere. A shame because I know they can do better!

The office staff is very good. The problem is the owners. Each of the two dentists I had seen left the practice and each time, the owners instructed all the staff to NOT tell patients they were leaving. I found out when I was sitting in the chair at my next appointment and was told I would be seeing a dentist I'd never met. After the second time, I switched to a different practice. I have had doctors and dentists retire or move and they or the practice always informed me. I found the secrecy to be very disrespectful. I should have been told so I could then decide which other dentist I wanted to see (like the one I had seen on other occasions when my regular dentist was on leave).
