I came to this location as a new patient really looking to improve my overall dental health. My teeth are important to me and I want a dentist I can trust and feel comfortable going to. This place was more after my money than they cared about me as a person. The hygienist asked if there was anything I was concerned about. I told her that my back teeth are super sensitive. She called the dentist in to take a look at my teeth and talk about the sensitivity issue. The dentist literally said "Oh there's nothing I can do about that but we can offer you Invisialign to fix your cross bite". You went to dental school and can't even find a solution to help with my sensitive teeth? As I'm leaving, they had me set up a consultation for Invisalign and tried to get me to get Care Credit. Which I already have from my vet's office but they didn't know that. They spent more time pushing me to apply for this card and purchase Invisalign than they even spent with trying to help me find at the very least a toothpaste to help with the issue I came in for. The staff was super friendly. But I can't get over the fact the dentist, the one with Dr. before their name, the one with years of experience and schooling literally looked at me and said, "Oh I can't help you." read more

I am so thankful for my experience at Neibauer Dental Care. It was my first time there. I hadn't changed dentists in over 15 years so this was a big step for me. I relocated from Maryland and have been putting off getting a new dentist. Dr. Ahmed was amazing. He was kind, direct, transparent, and did great work. They were extremely nice, however, it felt as though they were sales people versus health professionals. They kept "finding" all these things wrong with my teeth. I'm not saying I have perfect teeth, but I most definitely do not have bad teeth. I would only go for a cleaning. Anything else, seek a second opinion. read more

I love this dental office and the staff. No matter when I call or what I need to have done, they are always kind, responsive, professional and so very considerate. I wish some other businesses in the area would model themselves like the Dumfries Neibauer team. Dental work is not cheap and it pays to have great insurance, but their service goes beyond a dollar. My last dentist out in Ohio said I had a few cavities that needed to be filled, but as he was busy, he said it could wait until I found a new dentist in Virginia. We got settled in, and I called Neibauer last week and was given an appointment for the same day in the evening. After x-rays and an exam, the dentist told me I had several cavities, which I already knew, and offered an intelligent explanation for why I've had so many in the last year and recommended several different options in a range of prices to help solve the problem. They gave me an appointment to have them filled only 4 days later and when I called this morning to see if I could move the appointment up or back by a few hours, because of a household emergency, they willingly accommodated me. They also volunteered to watch my children while I was being treated, since I could not find a babysitter, being new to the area. Overall, I was quite satisfied with the cost, quality of care, and attitude of the staff, and I will make this place my new regular dental provider. read more

wow, where do I begin my frightening story....My regular dentist was super booked and I just needed a simple cleaning so I thought anywhere would do. When I got there they took x-rays and then did my cleaning. The dentist had the nerve to tell me I had a cavity in EVERY SINGLE TOOTH (BTW- I've seen a dentist every 6 months since the age of 3). The "dentist'" then treated me like some backwoods Appalachian person whose never seen a dentist their life. They also insinuated I had a poor diet full of soda, candy, etc. I almost lost my cool. Then they had some 18 year old come in and give me a flossing lesson (are you freakin' kidding me?!!). I thought about refusing to pay however still in shock of all the ridiculousness that occured I wanted to get out of there! After this story my regular dentist fit me in, took xrays, and said my teeth looked beautiful. What scares me the most is what Neibauer would have done to me if I'd allowed them to do the work they said I needed. They have great plasma TV's to watch while your teeth are cleaned but I'll be gosh darned if I'm paying for them!!! EK!!! I should have sued the crap out of them.... My question to them is how many people have they taken advantage of? They viewed me as an unsuspecting young woman who would blindly trust this "dentist" and hand over thousands of dollars for work not needed. The person they employed as a "dentist" clearly should not be a practicing medical professional since they intended me harm. read more

My initial impression of Neibauer was that they're more of a dental patient mill that CAN provide dental health care than a focused provider of dental health care. They're set up to try to get every dollar out of you they can and since most people are non-confrontational and/or generally uninformed, they're going to be successful at it. I've been there a few times. First was for a necessary root canal. Dr. S. was wonderful. She's gentle, kind, and very pleasant. Reception is very nice too but there's always some underlying tone of feeling cheated when you go in. I recently went in for a checkup and cleaning. I have good insurance that says it pays 100%. I asked if they accepted my insurance before I had my services performed and was told yes. Still, I was asked to pay more than $50 on the way out. They said they had difficulty finding my insurance so i just chalked it up to a security deposit or whatever. Not a big deal. We'll balance it out later. Welp, fast forward 5 weeks later. I get a bill. Turns out their billing codes were for "extra" services I didn't ask for and certainly don't recall getting. They promised to fix the bill and get back to me. We'll see. As it stood, my basic checkup and cleaning was billed to the insurance for almost $400. Of course they're not going to pay that. They've tried to sell me on a fluoride treatment... no. They've tried to sell me on Invisalign. No. In 40+ years of going to the dentist... they're the first ones to compel me to do these things. They've tried to schedule cleanings every 3 months... knowing insurance will only pay for twice a year. It seems everyone who goes in there needs something "extra". I really should rate 3 stars for Dr. S. being so great but when I feel like people are stealing from me... that just erases any good I can see. read more

Do not go to this facility if you are with United Concordia (Tricare). They might tell you that they accept Tricare, but the company is not United Concordia Network. You will be surprised when you receive a bill that you will be liable to pay because they knowingly tell you that they accept TRICARE but are not an actual in the network. The United Concordia informed me that this is a common practice that dental offices will state that they take an insurance policy, even if they are not in the network, so they can collect the remainder of the money from the patient. I would recommend this company if you have dental insurance that they are actually authorized to accept. The dental service was adequate. read more

I am terrified of the dentist but this place makes it ok. Very clean. Professional and personable staff do everything to make you comfortable. They did a great job on my bf's replacement cap. It looks so natural and 10 times better than the other one he had. I have lots of dental work that needs to be done and I trust them to do it all comfortably which is a LOT coming from me. read more

NEVER AGAIN! I usually don't write reviews but would feel guilty if I didn't warn people. My experience: My regular dentist was booked and I needed to get my six month cleaning in before going on vacation. I'm OCD about my dental health and get my cleanings like clock work, I just had a clean check up with x-rays six months earlier. I've only had one cavity in my life and that was when I was five. I thought I was going in for a quick cleaning, but I was wrong. The staff were very nice and professional. I filled out the new patient paperwork and was back in the chair fast. While I was waiting I heard the dentist telling a man patient next to me that he really needed a crown and without it he would get worse. I thought maybe he had bath teeth but something seemed off, it kind of sounded like a sales pitch. Later, the hygienist cleaned my teeth and was very nice, she mentioned that I may have two cavities in the back but the dentist would need to check for sure. I was shocked but figured the dentist would check and realize that I didn't. I had no pain or anything that would make me think I had a cavity. The dentist arrived and checked and sure enough said I needed 2 fillings on my back molars and it would be about $250 plus a fluoride treatment. I was stunned, they showed me a picture on the computer and there was a big dark looking cavity. I got one tooth filled and they wanted to schedule me for a follow up to do the other filling. The next day, I was still uneasy so I called and my regular dentist got me in on an emergency basis. They requested my X-ray's be sent over. It turns out I have no cavities and that tooth was filled for no reason!!! Apparently they just wanted my money, all the while seeming so nice. I can't believe that a licensed dentist can do something like this...it's unethical and a scam. Thinking back that picture must have been someone else's tooth, it was very close up and who would know the difference. Stay away from this place! read more

Not sure what all the fuss is about. I made an appointment for 6:00 pm for a cleaning and I was in and out in an hour with gorgeous pearly whites. No one tried to push anything on me and they explained all my options for the work I needed done (few cavaties and replacement of silver filling). I read the horror stories before I had my appointment but decided to just go ahead and go and I'm glad I did. They are very friendly, professional and I got to watch TV while they cleaned. I'm a nervous patient in general and although I don't think I can ever say I enjoyed going to the dentist it certainly wasn't a nightmare or frightening. Give them a chance - you'll be pleasantly surprised. read more

Although a friend had praised this location as "great!" I felt differently. The majority of the hygenists and the Dentists are friendly. However, the dental service itself is inconsistent, sometimes a cleaning is in depth, sometimes it seems glossed over and rushed. Then, you are pushed to get work done I am not sure is needed. The real downer for this location is the front desk staff. Personally I have been spoken to in a demeaning tone, (the billing clerk responded "What IS IT you want?" after asking about fillings) have been treated rudely when cancelling an appointment 26 hours in advance (the same clerk argued with me about cancelling both of my children's appointments because they were sick, then said, "Fine. I'll cancel them." and she hung up without offering to reschedule their appointments.) and finally, was even mocked by the receptionist and billing clerk when I had questions about my son's cleaning exam. They were supposed to bring a doctor or hygenist to speak with me, but let the technician (an assistant) do the talking and then, when they thought I couldn't hear/see, they made faces and mocked me. I was so disgusted with the lack of professionalism and maturity at this location that I decided to end our services after that experience. The front desk needs to realize that without customers, they don't have a job. Professionalism is key to a successful dentist-client partnership. I had just the opposite experience as most reviewers in regards to them finding anything wrong with my teeth but I have always had dental issues so that just made me suspicious. There was nothing wrong, my cleanings were uneventful, and none of the teeth I had been told would eventually need a crown were in need of any work. They were also very nice and curtious. I just felt I was being rushed through and perhaps my military insurance didn't pay enough for them to waste their time on me. read more

Yelp only has the office in VA, I went to the one in Prince Frederick, MD. Will not be going back. If you have been a patient with them for more than one year, you can tell there was a change in ownership. They are owned by Heartland Dental. The dental hygienist was overly aggressive in her work, and drew blow frequently. I then was told i needed a deep cleaning again (less than 2 years). This was after she had done a fluoride treatment without my consent, knowing the insurance would not pay it. I ended up telling the Dentist i would not allow her to work on me in the future, and after consideration, will be finding a new Dentist. I would also encourage everybody with them to check their own records, the information on mine was grossly incorrect, which can be very dangerous relating to medications, allergies, etc. read more

I normally go to Reflection dental in Alexandria but the day after Christmas I got a toothache so bad I was literally in tears My dentist couldn't see me until Monday! . I walked into the office at 2:05 and they JUST closed. I began to cry and the very caring front office clerk ran to the back to talk to the doctor to see what she could do. They brought me right to the back, numbed the shit out of my mouth and prescribed pain meds until she could get me in the VERY NEXT MORNING (Saturday)! I was blown away! I came back in the morning, she extracted the tooth and that was that! Unbelievable customer service and the level of compassion was comparable to nothing I have ever experienced! It doesn't end there - the NEXT day (Sunday) I woke up with a swollen face, in lots of pain and a nasty infection. I called the office knowing they would not be there but they gave the option to page Dr. S in the event of an emergency! I called her immediately, she answered immediately and drove 40 minutes from her home to get more pain meds and antibiotics to me. We met at her office. I cannot say enough about the level of care Dr. S provides! Her assistant Onan literally massaged my shoulders and arms while she was working on my mouth. WHO DOES THAT? Needless to say I am super impressed and will be switching to this dental office for good! Thank you for making a miserable situation tolerable! read more

I received an email today at 3:20pm stating I was patient of the month and to call for details. I called an spoke to the office manager and told about the discounts for being patient of the month. The catch is to receive the discount I need to come in by the end of September. Wait a minute today is 9/26 and I have four days to use this offer. When I questioned the office manager about the timeframe and how could I be patient of month and only have four days to use the discount. She said "that's how it is...and they have appointments available this week". I said why is this discount given base off of the office availability and not the patient??? She could not answer and went back and forth with me. I will never use this office again and they can keep there "patient of month". read more

I agree with Shelly 100%. This was my scenario; January I had a six month visit with my regular dentist (cleaning and x-rays) everything was normal. Next, I received a coupon in the mail from Neibauer Dental for free professional teeth whitening as long as you get the x-rays and cleaning. I had no problem with that. So, I scheduled my next six month visit with Neibauer and of course expected to get the professional whitening. Now, miraculously they said I needed 4 crowns and two fillings. They said when I finish getting all of the work done I could get the free professional whiting. I said to them, "hum, that's funny because I had a check-up in January and my teeth were good". They said a lot could change in six months. Just to give Neibauer the benefit of the doubt I went back to my regular dentist six months later in January and did not mention to them the work that Neibauer said I needed. Another miracle, after it was all said and done, I did not need any crowns or fillings, just my regular cleaning. That's when I told my dentist what Neibauer said, he could not believe it and wanted to see the x-rays. I went back to Neibauer again 6 months later on July 28, 2012 for cleaning and x-rays only, they told me my teeth had gotten worse. The only good thing I could say is that the hygienist does an excellent job cleaning and they take their time. From my experience, The Doctors (dentist) don't have the same patience when it comes to cleaning like the hygienist does. I had a similar experience a few years ago when I was searching for a new dentist. I was told before they could even clean my teeth I needed a DEEP SCALING. I was so pissed because I was charged for the visit but I could not get my teeth cleaned. My teeth are not perfect but very close to it. Their office was very pristine and high tech with the big screens and all. Bottom line, they are ripping off their patients to pay for their expensive toys. I recently got a second opinion for my son and the insurance paid 100% of the visit. WHEN IN DOUBT, GET A SECOND OPINION. Just use Neibauer for CLEANING ONLY. read more

I thought Neibauer in Central Park was great, but then I find out they are doing x-ray and panorex films when they are not needed and billing my insurance. Of course they say we will not bill you for any of the panorex films if the insurance will not cover it, well that did not include the bite wings which they also would take when it was not really needed. they also did a florid treatment when that was not covered which they should of known that. They waited a year before sending me a bill, on a florid treatment and bite wings taken and not covered. I went to a new dentist, they had me sing a form to release my records from Neibauer, but they would not release my records until I signed their form, unreal. The new dentist also called and ask for the panorex film, they were told we don't have any um, not true you billed her insurance on 1/26/12 for the films. I leave my appointment with my new dentist call this sorry office Neibauer and of course they tell me of yes we have them, we did not tell them we did not have the films, really I was standing there when you told them. I would not nor will I ever recommend Neibauer and the funny thing is have I have the past big mistake. Take note stay away!!!!! RLG read more
