There are so many great vegan options here, including desserts and sides! And the food was so good. I got the foot vegan sandwich and the bread was amazing. It was so unique and different. Their barbecue sauce is also fantastic. I got the side of vegan potato salad at the recommendation of the server and she did not steer me wrong, that was really good potato salad. The server was also very sweet and helpful. They have very interesting decor and lots of seating inside, plus a couple of little tables outside. I did not expect to find vegan food this good in Boise. It was also really affordable. I will definitely come back here the next time I'm in town! read more

Ordered from the comedy club next door. Almost asked for a refund due to how long it took to get the order. I had the mac and cheese which was stiff and not great. One bite and I was done with it. Terrific "best of all worlds" BBQ experience! They have delicious traditional BBQ staples such as tri-tip and ribs, but also some non-traditional items, as well. What is extra cool about BBQ4LIFE is that they have an extensive VEGAN menu, which my vegan daughter says was sensational. The vegan chocolate cake dessert was also stellar. I've been a vegetarian for years so it's been a while since I've been to a BBQ place. I was intrigued seeing this place with quite a few veggie options. A lot of it was tempeh and I'm not a big fan of tempeh so I was a bit reluctant. The tempeh salad was delicious the tempeh was crumbly and functioned almost like a crouton. didn't really taste like tempeh. The rest of the salad was good and I even liked the spicy cashew sauce. Hands down, my favorite BBQ place, anywhere. I live in Cleveland and it's always on my immediate to do list everytime I'm in Boise. I practically get off I-84 by the airport and just head there before anything else I love the ribs and the brisket, but I'm a little disappointed I didn't see the hazelnut squash side when I was here this past spring. The chips, the cheese, the pork, everything. Not even like warm. We were really really hungry so we were like okay whatever and asked her to put them in the microwave for us but at the end asked if they could take money off our bill for the nachos since no body wants to pay $16 for completely cold nachos. Anyways she comes back and said the manager said he'd take 10% of the nachos and it took off $1.65. This instantly pissed us off being more insulting if anything. What a cheapskate man! 3.5 stars As I was researching restaurants in Boise I came across a picture of a sandwich that contained mac and cheese. It's not like I've never had one before but for some reason it was stuck in my mind that I just had to try it. I came here at around 11am which is right when they open so I was the only one there. The store is located in a plaza right next to Dollar Tree with ample parking outside. I ordered the bigfoot roll ($11) which consists of house smoked pork with mac and cheese on a toasted roll with BBQ sauce. The sandwich was smaller than I would've liked but the mac and cheese itself was good and the BBQ sauce had a slight spice to it. The meat was a bit cold and I don't know if it's because I came here so early but I wish it would've been warmer so I wasn't eating warm mac and cheese and cold pork. Interestingly looking at other pictures on here the bigfoot used to be a sandwich between bread but was recently switched to be between a roll instead. I probably would've preferred it to be a sandwich instead but that's just me. read more

For the service and the overall friendliness of the staff, this place gets full marks. I've never been in a restaurant where everyone from the person at the bar to the one bussing tables is so friendly and personable. Clearly they have a family dynamic going on. We chose BBQ4Life because it also has a vegan menu, and the offerings looked pretty good. I'll be honest, though, in saying that after walking in, I was inclined to turn around and go back out. It's housed in a strip mall that has seen better days, and the restaurant itself just hasn't done anything to shake off the storefront feel. There's just... no ambiance whatsoever. The food was good but not that great. My wife and I had two different vegan sandwiches, which we split so we could try two different things, but truthfully they both tasted the same. That said, the sides were really good and the draft beer -- from an impressive list of offerings -- was worth the visit. The restaurant is obviously popular with the locals because it filled up fast; by 6:30 pm there wasn't a seat to be had. I'd probably go back at some point if we lived in Boise. read more

In my 8 years of being vegan I have never found such AMAZING BBQ. It was so delicious I made my boyfriend try it to confirm it was vegan. They smoke the tempeh and it legit tasted like brisket. The BBQ sauce is also insanely good. I have never been so impressed. The staff is family and it's obvious from entering they treat each other with such kindness and love. They all welcomed us and chatted with us and really cared. Robert was our server and he was so nice to us and so fast with service. No complaints. Any vegan passing through Boise NEEDS to visit here! This was one of the more reviewed places on Yelp, so naturally we needed to stop by. We dined inside and felt very safe. There were so many empty tables on a Friday night, which normally that would be a bad thing, but as a diner it provided comfort that it was a safe indoor dining experience. We ordered a tri tip sandwich, fries, mac & cheese, and potato salad. Food all came out very very quick. All of which were really good. I wish we ordered the vegan mac & cheese, but next time! Anyways, the place was clean. The bathroom was clean. Service was also good. The only thing that was slightly irking was that our server took another tables ordered, fulfilled their drinks, while she had our credit card. It was probably at least 10 mins where we were sitting there and ready to go. Keep in mind there were only a total of 3 groups in the restaurant including us when we were trying to leave. Another server noticed and realized our original server forgot run our card and apologized. I feel bad downvoting a restaurant with vegan/vegetarian options, especially a bbq place. But the food missed the mark. The vegan mac n cheese was one of the worst things I've been served at a restaurant. The noodles weren't fully cooked by probably 2-3 mins, the sauce tasted liked potatoes and chili. I'd suggest updating the recipe to one of the many that can be found online. The potato salad and fries were good. I'd skip the lemonade. I had the smoked tempeh sammy. There was something in the coleslaw I didn't care for but it was fine. The tempeh was lost, redeemed only by the bbq sauce. With small tweaks, many of the same applications that are applied to their meats could be used on veg substitutes. Roasted jackfruit for pulled pork. Beyond meat patty for the burgers. Beyond meat spicy sausages for the pepper jack brat. Smoked tofu for the tri tip. Service was fine and food came out quickly. Ambiance is what I'd expect from a bbq spot. read more

Tables and decor nor much to look at. Service was top notch! The Bigfoot Roll was delicious. The Tri Tip Sandwich had cut up pieces of tri tip vs slices on a bun. We were expecting something a bit better but still tasty. We were splitting everything and she bought them out already split. The sides, mac and cheese was good and the sweet potato chips were yummy. BBQ 4 life indeed! We landed in Boise and drove by this place on the way downtown to our hotel and knew it was going to be our first meal. It was a great way to kick off our trip to Boise because everyone inside was sweet as pie. The service in Boise is overall very happy and polite and this establishment was no exception. We ordered way too much food and loved all of it. The big fat which is a macaroni and cheese sandwich was incredible. Definitely recommended. We also got the meat sampler half order and made quick work of that. They have a seasonal dessert bread putting all the time. I tried the banana but they also were offering raspberry lemon. We wanted to buy their T-shirts but just like the rest of Boise they were sold out of the larger sizes. Restaurants around Boise are inconsistent in their application of COVID precautions and laxity among staff. This is not one of those. I came with a group of other healthcare workers and we were relieved to see hand sanitizer at the door, active disinfection of surfaces and doors, and spacing between tables. The place did get busy and besides our group we saw no patrons wearing masks when they stopped eating, so at a certain point we were glad to leave. But this is not a COVID den if you use good judgement and just get carryout if the tables are full. The food we got, nachos, salad, ribs, sandwiches were fresh and tasty. The bbq proteins were just right, enough smoke and still moist. And the service was very pleasant and timely. They also have a good selection of adult beverages and soft-drinks. When the bill came we found our order to be pricey for a casual place but not outrageous. My only complaint is that they were out of pastrami which was disappointing and surprising for a Saturday night. And frankly, had we come at their peak time we would have left to find a place with more distance, ventilation and less people. The spacing and occupancy standards required in Idaho are not as severe as other places in the US and if you really want to protect yourself and your loved ones "when in doubt get take-out." read more

The have a large menu but the go-to is the Bigfoot (thick slices of grilled Hawaiian bread, filled with pulled pork, mac and cheese and BBQ sauce all grilled to absolute perfection with garlic butter, $10.50). It's a massive sandwich fit for a queen with a domineering appetite. If you're feeling feisty, I recommend the Broodwich. It's the same thing but the bread is made into French toast and it's covered in maple sugar and powdered sugar. Best part? It's only $11.00 and feeds my husband and I, twice. read more

It is hidden in a strip mall, my gps wasn't helpful, so you may have to pass it and then turn into the cramped parking lot (lots of spaces but tight lanes and skinny spaces). You seat yourself and there is table service. Greeted quickly and brought water. Good beer selection. Had an excellent Plum Cider. Order taken after a little delay. Brisk take out business so sometimes server disappeared since he was dealing with orders. Accurate and friendly service. Amazing vegan options and equally great meat options. Ordered the half meat sampler with spicy vegan coleslaw. Coleslaw is great with jalapeños. They have spicy sauces if you ask, both were good. The sauces were cold though, so the barely warm meat was cool after being in the sauce. Meats were excellent. Pulled pork was juicy and well flavored, though not very smokey. Ribs were wonderfully smokey as was the tri tip. I think tri-tip was my favorite but all were good. Vegan options sound great, I'd definitely try those next time. read more
