Personal Experience with Pet Pals A few years ago, I was walking some dogs at the Fells near the Winford Way entrance in Medford. While we were there, Dave -- the owner of Pet Pals -- approached me. He seemed upset that I was walking in that area, saying I "didn't understand" the rules and that it was his designated spot to walk dogs, implying that no one else was allowed there. I reminded him that it's public land and open to everyone. At that point, he became physically aggressive and pushed me twice -- the second time hard enough that I lost control of my dogs' leashes. He then ran toward my dogs and appeared to try to scatter them, so they'd run off. I called the police, who arrived, spoke with both of us, and said something along the lines of, "There are three sides to every story." I decided not to pursue it further at the time and just moved on. I recently came across Pet Pals again, and I felt people should have the full picture before deciding whether to use this company. This is my personal experience, shared in good faith so others can make their own decisions. Hopefully, others have had better luck with Dave, the owner of Pet Pals -- formerly based in Winchester and now operating out of Woburn, as far as I know. read more

I think they just expelled my 5 month old puppy from their puppy play groups because she was jumping and nipping... No phone-call. No explanation. Just a drive by at pickup by the ?owner who did not introduce himself. So strange. read more

We have sent our dog to Pet Pals for over 3 years now and he absolutely loves it, based on his eagerness to jump into their van. Everyone is kind and they really love the dogs. If you watch your dog's behavior, you will know if they are enjoying it or not. We have had experience where a group of dogs was not to our dog's liking, so we switched and he loves the group he is in. He comes home tired and happy. read more

I have been going here for about 2 months and I think they are phenomenal. The care is outstanding. I had an incident and the staff could not have been more compassionate and caring. I can't express how much I love pet pals! I have a very small teacup Yorkshire terrier who's name is Chewie Monster and has nothing but fearless energy! My pup is my absolute world and so I only give him the best of everything I have searched high and low for great Walkers for him to have a great time with and pet pals is just that all of the walkers are absolutely incredible and their play groups are so much fun for the dogs Chewie always comes home exhausted which is what I love to see. Pet pals is also extremely accommodating If you ever have a problem and you call the front desk it always gets resolved they have sent me pictures absolutely adorable pictures including my profile picture so you know what your dog is getting into they offer a little pools for your dog in the hot weather and all around they are just very attentive to each dog that goes there. I couldn't be happier that Chewie has so many friends such an incredible atmosphere for dogs of all sizes. read more

my dog can't get out of the car fast enough when i bring him to play the staff are young people that really care about the animals and make sure they are all having a good time. I have only used the day camp including pickup and drop off when needed, or i drop him off and pick him up when i can. I would recommend petpals to anyone. The staff is AMAZING and here's why. Our family's had 2 Golden Retrievers over the past 25 years. So we were thrilled to welcomed Cooper in 2020 during the covid shut down. I never imagined a golden would be nervous around people and other dogs but he was. He has been going to Pet Pals for a couple of months now but honestly I noticed a positive change after a week. The staff really cares and it shows. I did try a big pet store daycare first and found they were leaving him in the kennel by himself! We are so happy we found Pet Pals. Refused to take our 7 month old puppy simply because she's an American Staffordshire Terrier! She's the sweetest dog ever, but they never gave her a chance and just judged based on her breed (never mind her father is an AKC obedience champion). Totally disappointed in them! read more

This place sucks. If I could give it a zero, I would. I just moved to Boston from California and I found this place online and decided to call and check this place out. I called twice and no one answered at first and then they called me back hours later. I brought my dog and they wouldn't even let my dog inside and decided to "look" at her outside in the pouring rain. The girl came out and without evening giving her a try decided to say it's not going to work because of her looks since she's a pit mix. It's pretty funny because there's a pit mix on their site. It's so sad that doggie daycares should be dog lovers of all and not hate because of their looks. You guys are doing nothing but hurting the breed even more and my dog has been in daycare since she was 5 months and gets along with any dog and even kids. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. read more

I was recommended to this place by two different people. I thought to myself GREAT, this place will be perfect for my dog. Called in the morning did not return my call till the afternoon, and come to find out they do not take pit bulls (AM Staff Bull Terrier), which is kinda ridiculous because right on there website it says: "Doggie Daycare Policies: Dogs must be friendly with other dogs FREE Pickup and drop-off is included within our coverage area!" If you know anything about pit bulls they are SO friendly and loving and my dog is just that! My dog has been bitten by two chihuahuas and a Vizsla and has never harmed anyone and there excuse for not having my dog is because "other people will feel uncomfortable with my dog around". They should stand up for all breeds! They should seriously think about putting information on there website to educate people about different breeds and not be discriminatory towards dogs just because they are afraid of what other people will think. DISGUSTED!!!!!!! So I guess if you have great dog that is discriminated against you can not bring them here...SAD! read more

All the low reviews are from spiteful people who couldn't get their dog enrolled. That's obviously a terrible situation, but does that make this company worth 1 star? Pet Pals offers a pick up service, brings your dog to a social environment where it spends the day with company, then is returned to your home. There is everything between very well-behaved, well-loved dogs, and there are completely shitty untrained, and basically neglected rich people dogs. There are social cliques and buddies between these dogs. I have not had any negative experiences with pet pals, and being in a group of dogs is a basic canine need. For a fee, your dog gets a social life. It is unfortunate that not every dog is allowed in, but unless you're willing to take care of your own dog every day you really can't complain about their services. read more

We've used Pet Pals for many years, and have always been really happy with their service. We were nervous the first time we left our beloved pooch overnight, but they were really great. When we got back home our dog was happy and tired, a sure sign of a great weekend romping with other dogs. Reasonably priced, and VERY flexible. We always seem to make our requests for weekend care last minute, and they have always accomodated us and never turned us down despite being really busy on a holiday weekend. They were always very responsive to our requests, and as our dog got older they adapted his weekend care to less strenuous outings. And when he passed over the summer I received the nicest call from David the owner, expressing his condolences. Pet Pals provides an invaluable service, and I always felt that my pet was treated like one of their family. I asked them to hold onto our key for when we get our new puppy!!! read more

Our dog liked going to Pet Pals. He's a Black Lab mix and just one so he's super friendly and plays with every dog we meet. We do neighbor play dates, he goes to dog parks and he's great. They gave us two phone calls saying he was too rambunctious with other dogs. The second call they said he couldn't return because he was making other dogs and a worker scared. We have two young children and he's amazing with them- so gentle. I see lots of pure bred light colored dogs and I believe they discriminate because he's a mix and he's black. It's very sad and we had to scramble for care last minute. But to mention one day during his play they sent him home with a split carpal pad that needed stitches. We had to miss work and pay hundreds of dollars. They didn't know how it happened and we were fine because accidents happen. But for them to just decide he wasn't good enough for the group was very sad. read more

I had a few people from here watch my cat before and they did an amazing job but none of them ever cleaned her litter box and I always left a note as to where here food and litter boxwere located in the house. So if your like me and you clean your cats box daily be sure to clean it before you leave because if you get any of the cat sitters I got they won't clean it out. read more

We've been using Pet Pals for week day play group for about a year now. We've had nothing but a great experience with them. Curt is amazing and our pup adores him. Curt goes the extra mile too, putting down her afternoon snack and water, as our pup is only 1, so she's still learning portion control. :) Highly recommended. read more

I have 2 herding dogs who go to Pet Pals daily. We are extremely satisfied with their screening process, pick up, delivery and treatment of our dogs. The screening process involved having a male dog in the cage with my dogs to see the interaction between my dog and one of the "pack" and then they switched it to a female dog from the "pack". This ensured that 1) they were accepted in the pack and 2) that my dogs were socialized. These 2 aspects are extremely important to us. We also like the fact that we get a small post note indicating when our dogs were dropped off at home. I hope that Pet Pals will expand their care to include indoor time (for bad weather) and expanded daycare at their facility. read more

We just rescued our second dog, and our slightly older dog was having a hard time keeping up with his playful energy. After a quick search I found this wonderful place SO conveniently located and very reasonable for the space (3 huge outdoor field areas, a chill out patio zone, and indoor space!) and attentiveness the dogs get. They took the time to make sure my little guy would be a good fit, and are always so attentive and engaged with the dogs when I'm there dropping off or picking up. Winchester Pet Pals is great! When we first contacted them, David the owner came to our house to meet our dog and get the lay of the land of the house. His operation is extremely professional -- calls are promptly returned, the walkers leave notes of when the dog was walked and fed, and the dogs get to spend a fair bit of time at their facility in Woburn, so they have company for a good part of the day rather than just quick in and out walks. We often make weekend travel plans at the last minute, and have never had trouble getting coverage, even for holiday weekends. I never worry about my dog's care when I'm gone. read more

I have used Pet Pals for 2 years for cat sitting. The rates are reasonable and they have come through each time on somewhat short notice even around holiday times. They will do small things to make your life easier like bringing in mail/packages and sending an email/text to let you know things are ok if you've been away for long. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about Pet Pals! We were originally looking for just a dog walker but came across Pet Pals and have been so thankful we did! The convenience of having our dog walker come to our house to for a pick-up and drop-off has been a lifesaver with our busy schedules and after a full day of romping around with his playgroup our pup is actually tired out (no small feat!). They have great facilities for rain or shine and frequently post pics to update you on how the playgroups are going. We have been very happy clients of Pet Pals for a little over 2 years now. They take our energetic mutt to their Dog Club every weekday for a few hours; we have also used them for daily walks in the Fells and occasional weekend walks. They are very organized and professional, clearly dog-lovers, and our dog loves them. Even if we happen to be home when our walker arrives, our dog eagerly runs to the door when he arrives and happily goes with him.
