I've been coming here for years! I usually just get alcoholic drinks but today I came during the day and I was able to try some of their food. The flatbreads were delicious and full of flavor. They also come with a dipping sauce (not pictured). I ordered the All In Fries with Pulled Pork - so yummy! I would definitely order it again. you can share everything amongst four people. The service was pretty quick. The ambience was just nice and chill and very clean.

I'm honestly surprised this place isn't more popular on a Saturday night maybe it's better suited for an older crowd? It's very spacious, and it's incredibly fast to get a drink. The bathrooms are top-notch and I mean it! They're so elevated compared to most places. The vibe is great; I just happened to be in more of a bar-hopping mood, otherwise I would have stayed here all night. And no cover charge, which is amazing!

Good for a family meal or lively spot for drinks with friends. Very busy for a Thursday night, but we were seated with no wait at 6:30pm. We got the sampler platter and I personally liked the buffalo cauliflower the best. The ranch dipping sauce was amazing. The poke nachos were also really good and the fish was fresh and firm. We got one of their loaded Mac and cheeses, which was also really good. They also have a kids menu offering cheeseburger, grilled cheese, etc. Comes w a side and kid's drink. Service was very attentive and super friendly.

Came here with one of my girlfriends after visiting the Museum of Illusions and let me tell you -- the vibe was vibing! First things first, this is the Gaslamp, so parking can absolutely be a challenge. You'll probably have better luck parking off Sixth or Seventh Avenue and walking over to Fifth where the restaurant is located. Just plan ahead and you'll be fine. When you walk in, you immediately notice the open-concept layout. The bar sits right in the middle with dining all around it. It gives pub energy but still feels like a full-service restaurant. There are plenty of TVs playing sports and entertainment, and the noise level is about average -- lively but you can still hold a conversation. They can easily accommodate both small and larger groups, and overall it just has a really nice, welcoming vibe. The staff? Super friendly and inviting. Our waitress, Diana, was sweet and very accommodating. She walked us through the house specials, happy hour deals, and what was popular on the menu. Love when servers actually know the menu! Now let's get into the food. We ordered the short ribs over fries topped with guacamole, sour cream, and beer cheese. Very savory and definitely shareable. The short rib itself was tender and pull-apart good, but it did have more fat than I would've liked and could've used a bit more seasoning. Nothing major though -- a little salt and pepper fixed it right up. We also ordered the wings -- you get 10 per order and can split them into two flavors (which I love). We chose Buffalo and Mango Habanero and asked for them to be baked a little longer. They came out PERFECT. Crispy, hot, and flavorful. Now the ranch... it's definitely house-made and unique. I was kind of on the fence about it. It worked okay with the wings, but dipping the veggies in it? That was a no for me. One thing I will say -- the food came out piping hot and beautifully presented. You can tell the kitchen actually cares about quality and presentation. Portion sizes are generous. What we ordered was perfect to share. If you're super hungry, you may want your own entrée. But for a casual meal with a friend? Sharing is plenty and you'll leave full. I'll definitely be back to try their poke nachos (they looked sooo good walking past us) and the burgers -- they were huge and looked incredibly flavorful. If you're ever in the Gaslamp area, I definitely recommend stopping by. You won't be disappointed. Thank me later

The restaurants sits on the corner lot with nice outdoor seating on these San Diego Sunny Days! There was a group of about 7 that easily walked from the NACNS conference held at the Marriott. The crew was efficient with their splendid teamwork. Our waitress was Shannon T. And we tried a variety of items from-- iron fries, burgers, flatbread, and salads. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. There was a minor hiccup but the team recognized the mishap and corrected promptly. Would happily return when back in the SD area.

This restaurant is always busy. We came here on a Tuesday night and it felt like a Friday!! Food came quick. I ordered my burger and I got to say it was delicious!! It was so big I had to take half of it to go!! I believe you have to be over 21 to get in because we got ID at the entrance.

My first time here. My friends and I stopped by for dinner on a Tuesday evening, and they were pretty busy. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated. Because of how busy it was, the service felt a bit rushed. I ordered the Steak Frites. It came with potatoes, garlic aioli, and a delicious chimichurri sauce. The flavors paired well together, and I especially enjoyed the chimichurri.

My family and I came here for dinner. It's actually a sports bar, and they seemed pretty strict about making sure we were the parents of our kids (since they were under 21) before letting them in. I love the vibe here! It was so fun and festive, and I loved the people watching. We were there a bit earlier in the evening, but I'm sure it would be more packed later in the evening or during a game. Our server was super friendly and came by often to check on us. The portions are generous here. We ordered: Iron Fries - "All In" - 3/5. Family said the meat on the fries wasn't seasoned well and was bland. Flatbread - Ultimate Buffalo - 5/5. Loved the crust and the flavors! Barley Mac - "The Mash". 4/5. The mac was good, but once again the family said the pork was bland. Crispy Chicken Sando - 3/5. The chicken patty was ok, but a bit overcooked and dry. I'd say this is a great place to hang out and grab a drink, but not necessarily for the food (maybe just the flatbread).

I was in the area for an event, and since I was early, decided to stop by here. The staff was welcoming, and told me how it was H/H and that brought a smile to my face. I just ordered a drink since I knew I'd be having food at my event.... but will have to comeback to try their poke nachos. My drink was delicious and had a nice kick to it which is always appreciated. Overall, a nice spot to check out if in the area. I will be back.

We went here for dinner on a Saturday night and had an excellent experience. The restaurant is located in the heart of the Gas Lamp district, which is quite lively at night. We went for dinner but I noticed that there are TV screens everywhere so this is obviously a good place to eat/drink and watch sports. Hence the label sports bar. But this is more than a sports bar. The food is a notch above sport bar grub. There are the usual pizzas, burgers, loaded fries, etc etc. But also some high end entrees such as steak. The drink menu is extensive and the draft beer selection was a whole page of single spaced options. The wife and I each had a craft beer to start. They are not inexpensive at about $11 a glass, but they were tasty and exactly what we needed. I had the black and blue burger and it was excellent quality meat. I asked for medium and got medium well but the burger was not dry. The bacon was crispy as I requested. It was a tasty burger and the flavors came together well. The wife had the Burbon BBQ burger which came with bacon, fried onion strips, cheese (I think) and BBQ sauce. She loved the burger. Both of our fries were crispy and hot, but the star was homemade ketchup. Delicious. Each burger was $21.50 which is high but the quality and taste were there. Our server Jessica was attentive and friendly. The bathrooms are spacious and clean. Overall, this is an excellent place to eat, drink, and relax.

We were sat almost immediately. Our server was happy and had a huge smile- put a smile on our faces. I was not too hungry so I opted for the avocado toast. It was yummy and filling. My Dining partner had the bbq burger and he said it was yummy as well. A nice place with friendly people. Liked it very much.

Black and Bleu Burger with a side Caesar salad

This is a large sports bar-restaurant in downtown San Diego. We were greeted at the entrance and sat right away. It wasn't yet dinner time so they weren't full. Our server came by to take our drink order and gave us time to review the menu. There were a lot of options that looked good - I ended up getting the Bacon Ranch Barleymac (mac n cheese). Hubby got the Black and Bleu Hamburger with a side Caesar. The food arrived hot but my husband's burger, which he ordered to be cooked medium, was rare on the inside. He had taken two bites and decided it was too raw. The manager came by to see how our meal was and he told her it was raw. She didn't offer a different option or a new burger - only to put his bit-into burger back on the grill. This was off-putting because the bun was drenched from the raw meat juices and the thought of someone's germs on the grill where they would cook other meals was unappealing. In the end, they removed it from the bill. My mac n cheese didn't have much ranch on it - just regular mac n cheese with bacon on the top. I asked for a side of ranch to dip my bites into - it's what I thought the dish would taste like. I just wasn't impressed by it. I don't know that we will be back when we are in San Diego next. There are a lot of restaurants we've eaten at and I would return to those or visit a new one before returning here.

    All In Iron Fries

Get. In. My. Belly! While service was slow and spotty - likely due to understaffing for the sheer number of patrons at this hugely popular establishment, which falls on management not staff - the unapologetically over-the-top All In Iron Fries (house cut fries topped with applewood-smoked bacon, chili-braised short rib, ale-braised pork shoulder, pepper jack beer-cheese sauce, fresh chilis) were well worth the inconvenience and perfect for sharing. Loved the energetic vibe of this place on a Sunday afternoon - a great spot for sports fans of all stripes to congregate!

It says "dancing".. is there like a DJ or something?

Unfortunately no dancing or DJ. It's a small intimate. It's more for great conversations.

I'm looking for a nice place for packer fans?

I believe The Local Eatery & Drinking Hole on 1065 fourth ave , San Diego , CA 92101. Is a packers bar. But this place Barleash is a great place to go in general!!! Food,…

Can kids come during the day?

It is a restaurant, so I would think kids are allowed whenever they are open.

With outdoor seating, are you able to watch tv?

Barley Mash does have many TVs and the sides of the bar area has many TV's and the main restaurant does have many you can see from the outside.

Is there dancing on Saturday nights?

Yes there is! Around 11 or so they put away all chairs and stools !

Is this place accessible for someone in a wheelchair?

Yes it is. The venue has plenty of room to navigate through the venue.

    Does it have bottomless mimosas?

Im sure you have to wear pants there

    When does the kitchen close?

Around 1 am. The place opens up to music after 930 to 1000 pm. The kitchen is still cranking out good for. We was there on a Saturday.

I'm reading the Yelp reviews that they have a kids menu. Is that correct? Do they have high chairs for kids?

I don't bring my kid to bars. Barleymash is not a good place for kids because it's a sports bar. The Gaslamp area in general might not be the best place for kids under 14.

Are 21 year olds that turn 21 at midnight allowed in? ex: birthday is 1/6 show up 1/5 @ midnight. would they be allowed in?

Why don't you show up early and have dinner and just stay inside? You just won't be able to drink until midnight but at least this way you've enjoyed some quality food before midnight.

What time does the kitchen close?

Pretty sure at 10. But make sure to get there early because every time I go late, I'm out of luck. Think they have like flatbreads, but didn't stay for that

Do you need reservations on 4 th of July?

Hi Terrie, We always encourage reservations, especially during holidays or when you have a big…

Is there an outdoor patio? Is it dog friendly for dinner?

Yes the front patio is dog friendly

Do you have to be 21 to go in even if you just wanna go eat on a Saturday afternoon?

Yes, you do have to be 21+ to eat at BarleyMash at any time, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

My husband and I just finished our dinner at Teleferic Barcelona when I suggested we give Raised by Wolves another try - as we had about an hour before picking up the kids. For a Saturday, I was pleasantly surprised that as walk-ups we only had to wait a few minutes before we were seated at the bar inside. While we waited, we enjoyed perusing their bottle selections for purchase and I'm happy to say that playing music slightly louder in the waiting/market area helped dull the sounds from the inside bar. It helps create more of a 'moment' when you sit at the fireplace and slowly turn inside. This time we were seated right at the bar, which was perfect for us. Chuck was our bartender and 10/10 on the cocktails he made. This time, I went with their Tiki Room and my husband an off-menu Boulevardier (which I have to say I'm impressed he knew what that was because even I didn't, lol). Both drinks were perfectly crafted and enjoyed by both of us. We only had a moment for just one drink this time, but I have to say our experience was so much better than our first (perhaps a fluke of an evening). The staff were all welcoming and knowledgable, other guests were dressed well, and the ambiance lent itself to the vibe we were looking for. After doing some homework, I made the connection that Raised By Wolves was part of the hospitality group that also owns Lafayette Hotel, The Baby Grand, Ironside, etc...all locations my husband and I absolutely adore. Happy to support such amazing places around San Diego and I look forward to more!

My party ordered a whiskey flight, the sojiros sprotini, the trash panda, and the ube cocktail. All had very unique flavors. Will be returning to try more drinks on the menu! I highly recommend reservations, especially on Friday evenings and weekends. I tried walking-in on a Friday night and was turned away because of how busy it was. Also - do not try to open the door yourself manually... My party was berated for doing so, oops.
