Neither of us had any idea what Indian food tasted like, but we have always been pretty adventurous, especially when it comes to food. That first date was all it took for us. We've been inseparable since that fateful evening. He's been on a kick where he's learning to make Chinese food at home, and was looking for thai bird chilis. However, it's about an hour drive to the closest Asian grocery now that they knocked down our beloved Golden Bridge. So I thought, hey, maybe we can find an Indian grocery because they are legit Asian, and even though the food seems very different than Chinese, they do use a lot of the same ingredients. Anyone who has accidentally ordered "indian spice" level hot when ordering Butter Chicken (for example) knows that they use some MAJOR peppers in their dishes. Plus, we drive passed this spot all the time, and I've been wanting to check it out for over a year. It's a mecca. It's HUGE, with decently wide aisles, and about a gazillion Indian products that I have never seen before, but NEED to explore. We got the peppers that we needed, and could not resist buying a pint of what seems to be rose-flavored ice cream (I haven't had a chance to taste it yet, but I looked up the name and discovered that there's an Indian dessert that features NOODLES, rose ice cream, basil... my brain is intrigued!) and dehydrated whole lemons (which apparently can be rehydrated, or grated as is, used in teas, and a bunch of other things). They also have a lovely selection of religious icons. I collect those, so I'm going to have to go back for a Ganesha (elephant-headed Hindu god of beginnings, who is traditionally worshipped before any major enterprise and is the patron of intellectuals, scribes, and authors. His name means both "Lord of the People" (gana means the common people) and "Lord of the Ganas" (Ganesha is the chief of the ganas, the goblin hosts of Shiva). Ganesha is potbellied and generally depicted as holding in his hand a few round Indian sweets, of which he is inordinately fond. Ganesha has the ability to overcome anything to get what he wants. Ganesha is a remover of obstacles.) Now Jeremy is thinking of expanding his cooking skills to include more Indian dishes. I can't wait until he masters a Korma! Totally recommend!

2 Stars = RUDE PERSONNEL! Although I have purchased decent seafood here, I realized after recent…read moreinteractions with staff here that several of the Seafood counter Hispanic workers as well as the Asian personnel encountered (who staff the in-store front office) seem most rude when approached and when asked even the most basic of questions! In the past, I have merely selected my items and then proceeded to checkout, so I had no reason to approach behind-the-counter personnel . Today, however, we had questions concerning some fish we intended to purchase and also had to visit the front office. At the seafood counter, the Hispanic man behind the counter was dismissive and twice became snappy! When asked about the bass, he refused to communicate the info requested. Then at the office, the woman snatched the receipt from my daughter and was impolite. Thus, I will refrain from patronizing this market at which we received harsh tones and unnecessary abruptness while shopping and during the manager's processing of a refund for 2 packs of SPOILED, SMELLY "sushi-grade" SALMON that I was forced to return only hours after my purchase. Only when I had opened the packs of salmon did the smell became detectable! The clue should have been the fact that the expiration date was May 21, 2026 and my purchase date was May 20, 2026. Yes, I should've checked the dates before making the purchase, but seafood personnel should've removed the salmon, should have accurately dated it from the start, and should have appropriately monitored the seafood case items to protect public health. Talk about a most serious Food poisoning threat! Indeed!!! The Lotte Market EXCEPTION is the onsite MOOLKOGI Restaurant which consistently provides EXCELLENT FOOD, and A-One CUSTOMER SERVICE! Unlike Lotte, MOOLKOGI is owned and operated by a warmhearted, dedicated, very responsible, expert chef, and professional Asian businessman and gentleman whose dishes are exceptionally good, always fresh, and well priced! Their prices aren't the cheapest overall, but they're not expensive either. There are a lot of options for fresh produce, and my favorite thing to buy here is the halal meat and chicken. That said, the store could use some rearranging and a deeper cleaning. The vibe feels a little different compared to other Lotte Plazas, and it seems less clean than the one in Ellicott City. The staff are nice, but they could be a bit friendlier. On the plus side, there are plenty of parking spots available.

The drink was super yummy. Tangerine and mango juice with Yerba mate tea along with cane sugar and raw cane sugar. Love to come back!
