I really shouldn't have even come in the store when I did but I couldn't help it! I was minding my own business driving through Wilshire on my break when at the corner of my eye I saw Saks Fifth Avenue. (Read my review for my indifference towards this particular Saks) I knew that Neiman Marcus was on the next street so I swerved and made a left like a professional driver from 2 Fast 2 Furious and into the parking structure I went. Note: Parking is free for 2 Hours with Validation aka a Purchase :D (So buy something :D...or not?) Anyways I parked and went in....oh how I miss my Neiman Marcus store in Honolulu with the beautiful butterflies....this store does not have that wow factor that the NM at Ala Moana does but eh...whatever. One thing that differs between this Neiman Marcus and the one in Honolulu is this NM is BUSY! My goodness...I think it's because Beverly Hills has a concentration of all the high end stores and then poof nothing for miles on end. So when people want to get their fix there really isn't a lot of stores to go to. I went to the shoe section because now that I am a working adult with my big girl blazer I wanted big girl shoes. I spotted a pair of Christian Louboutin Pigalles in black that confused me because they look like So Kates sorta? Anyways I really wanted to try them on but....oh wait....there were hoardes of annoying Beverly Hills women...and I say this because my goodness they are rude and all the salespeople were preoccupied with their not subtle elitist attitudes on how much better they were than the people that worked there. I'm so used to being nice to people I forgot how bitchy you have to be in LA. Goodbye smile hello bitch face. As soon as I put my bitch face on and looked like I was going to start screaming at people immediately someone assisted me...this was after 15 min of holding the shoe in my hand smiling at the sales associates. I learned something new. I tried on the shoe and eh it was uncomfortable...anyways at the point I was NO LONGER INTERESTED in shopping there. I'm a very quick shopper and I hate having to wait around because of incompetent sales associates. The Chanel store at the Neiman Marcus deserves nothing but high praise. Those who know my shopping habits know that I am NOT a bag person. Shoes always everyday but as soon as I stepped in the Chanel store and created by the most wonderful sales associate...I thought to myself...I could get a bag... I have never seen any bag worth the price ever! Yes even Chanel even Hermes...I'm really not a bag person. The people at Chanel are so courteous and nice; they answer all your questions and don't try to push the sale...because they know with customer service like that you will be back. Take notes shoe people at this Neiman Marcus location! Would I come back? Ugh...unfortunately with my shoe obsession...and the fact they carry my size I will come back grudgingly after exhausting all other avenues for the shoe of my choice. My husband bought me a handbag from Sally at the Goyard store via phone for Christmas. She was the worst. We have bought stuff from many high end stores and rarely experience such poor customer service. He bought the wrong size so I called to make sure we can exchange it. The guy I talked to was friendly and said to just mail it back. Well, we mailed it back and Sally got back to us and again, was not friendly. She was just rude and unfriendly. If I were able to purchase it from another store I definitely would've. Plus we paid $60 in shipping fees, whereas every other high end store has waived the shipping costs. read more

This place is bougie - pretentious - and all uh that. I was surprised at how many Korean employees they had - which oddly enough I was damn near trampled by one (an older Korean lady who had so much plastic surgery done on her face - she was hard to look at) She was like - you have to try this perfume & takes one look at me & goes - are you Korean in Korean. And I answered yes. Then she goes - I knew it. Only pretty girls are Korean. I nervously & awkwardly giggle. I mean what are you supposed to say to that? Flattery will get you nowhere - i see right through you - u gotta wake up pretty early in the mornin' to get past me" and i wake up at 545am . I thought the lady was Japanese - she has a bob cut with blunt bangs straight across. Anyways, I came here with my Russian girlfriend and my gf goes - Ugh don't talk to her - she is so annoying. If you so much look at her way - for sure, she'll make you her conquest. What was spooky was - I made no eye contact and she literally appeared out of nowhere grabbing my wrist and spraying the $900 perfume that she informed me that Katie Holmes wears. The other Korean (at least I'm assuming she is) girl helped my girlfriend who was returning Dior makeup that didn't work on her. Trust me, I was half tempted to ask her if she yelps. She might be a yelper. She kept looking at me & studying my face while I did the same thing back. Wonder if she recognized me too? Hrmmmmmm but I didn't catch her name. She was the only helpful employee there. A lady's nametag I did take note of is Mary Robertson. First of all, she looks like she's stuck in the 80s, & she is the slowest, inefficient, confused employee working the makeup counter. Ugh. Avoid this one. But actually - all of the employees are pretentious & uppity. They way they act - you can't help but to think - who's the employee & who's the customer? They put on airs. Narcissicistic Wanna-be Divas & Pimps. But to be fair - I can't hate all that much. They were nice to me, but I can't help but to wonder if I was in casual clothes how all up in my face they really would've been. Store is clean & bright. No complaints. Service is sub-par & Neiman Marcus is known for their service - I mean there are articles in business magazines about them so what gives? P.S. The $900 perfume - so not worth it. read more

This sure is not Nordstrom. The staff is snooty, the store is large and hasn't eatery and they take a long time to process anything, such as returns in there antiquated system. I purchased something online and had to go upstairs to customer service to return it. One positive thing is they give microscopic bottles of water, about a sips worth while you wait for them to rectify anything they did wrong, which believe me they take their time in. The store is clean and multilevel in layout. It is also fun to people watch. Housewives of Beverly Hills shop here, celebrities and interesting other people. For people watching, I give it seven stars! For actual shopping or for necessities, I give it one star, so that averages out to three stars. I know, I know, I am generous with my ratings. I had very pleasant experience of shopping over here until the last time. Last time two guys who helped me at prada were very rude. I asked if there's any new stock available for the bag I chose. The one that displayed was not "new" condition since the bottom of the bag has little scratch. The young guy (seems like in between 20-30s of age wearing glasses) replied the store doesn't have additional one, and the another worker next to him giggled and whisper loud so I can hear "I told you she's not gonna buy it" I think the workers need to be very careful when they say something because it could be interpreted as racist and rude. I was a customer who shopped multiple handbags and wallets over here but I don't think that they deserve my money anymore. There are other nice workers who have been helping me but those two workers I mentioned the above were just terribly rude. It was just a nightmare so I won't come back. In terms of shopping in BH, Neimans is the gold-standard. The customer service is spot-on. Duh, it's expensive. They don't call it needless markup for nothing. However, it is exactly what a shopping experience should be. The store is aspirational. The shoe department is a particular stand-out. They can easily accommodate the big-footed. Also, Neimans has the ability to call other Neimans if they are out of a size or color, so you will almost never be SOL. Also on the first floor is cosmetics, with a sizeable Jo Malone and almost any higher-end cosmetic chain out there. I am also a big fan of the section dedicated to scarves, wraps and hats. This is an ideal gift, in my opinion. Avoid Floor 2, unless you are a true baller and willing to shell out a lot of money or you just want a looksie for inspiration. Floor three has contemporary designers, which albeit are still expensive, are gorgeous. There is always enough help for each customer. Floor three also has lingerie and Neimans cashmere. Neimans cashmere is very high quality and they often have large markdowns. When you are done shopping there is a Bar on 4, a cafe on 3, and Mariposa, where ladies who lunch, "lunch" in the basement. A great assortment to end or begin your shopping excursion! Also, they have started taking Mastercard and Visa, so everyone can shop with ease. read more

I had such a wonderful time shopping today! Last time I visited (maybe a year ago) I felt snubbed. Today, everyone was super friendly and helpful. The woman at gift wrapping was super friendly. I had a wonderful trying in dresses with the help of Angelo. He listened to what I was looking for and grabbed things I wouldn't normally try and I really liked that since I told him I was trying to get away from "cute". I have not been a "frequent flyer" at Neiman Marcus because over the years I have found their employees to be less than helpful, at times rude, and overall unpleasant. I recently received a gift from Neiman Marcus and the closest one to me is in Beverly Hills and wanted to Exchange it for something I would find more suitable. I so dreaded going that I had almost worked myself up to the point where I was going to just hang it in the closet where eventually it would be given away. My previous gift from N\M hung in my closet and eventually I donated it so as not to expose myself to this type of treatment. It's so interesting within two blocks there is Barneys, Saks fifth avenue, and Neiman Marcus - I was so so lucky to receive this gift from Neiman Marcus. (LOL)The other two stores are very friendly and basically carry the same designers. I took the time to check out the yelps and found many people have the same problem with this Store. Yesterday I decided to bite the bullet and return the item. I couldn't believe how many sales associates were available - one at every counter. For anyone who has been shopping recently, it is startling how many sales associates there "aren't". Bloomingdale's, Macys, even Nordstrom - there are only one or two people on each floor and at Nieman there was one behind each and every counter. And, most significantly, they were all incredibly Friendly. Almost as though someone had called the store and said "she's coming and will be writing a review so be nice to her". Wow - what a pleasant surprise. I want to give specific commendation to Bert in Jo Malone cosmetics. He went out of his way making recommendations and just couldn't do enough. The entire store is beautiful and I love that the brands are set up in like mini shops within the store. Deplorable customer service!! I spend entirely too much money at this store to receive the horrific customer service that I received today! I recently bought a pair of shoes online and had them shipped to the store. I called customer service to ask about picking them up, and Tom (who is apparently the customer service manager) picked up the phone and said "Thank you for calling Neiman Marcus. There is a 10 minute hold. Do you mind holding?", then clicked over before I even got a chance to answer. I was on my way to the store and had to immediately go back to work, so being on a 10 minute hold is not okay. I decided to call back and try my luck again, however once again Tom answered and gave me the same treatment. I immediately called the corporate customer service number to file a complaint. If there is no one available in the customer service department, then the call should be auto-directed to a department that could help or maybe they should hire more customer service representatives. Their customers, including myself, spend wayyy too much money to ever be on hold for 10 minutes, or to receive the treatment that I received, especially from a person who should be the manager. read more

Unlike the crappy Service I received at Saks down the block, the store hands down always has the best customer service. Even when I go in to return an item I get the friendliest service. At the cosmetics counters, the associates know all of the products and will take their time to explain each product to you so that you know you were getting the product that is right for you. Saks corporate should take notes from Neiman Marcus on how to train their associates in customer service. read more

Customer service for returns/exhanges is EXCELLENT. They were patient, compromising, and more than reasonable. I wanted to exchange these barstools I purchased online for a completely different kind (all within the same brand) along with keeping the discount I received with the original purchase. I know, I was asking for a lot. But they completely honored it and I was shipped the new stools and received it within a week! Wahooooooo! In general the Neiman Marcus live chat is also pretty great at addressing questions as well. The actual people who work at the different brands in the store can be a huge hit or miss. I have a soft spot for department stores, as my parents met while working at Bloomingdale's in the swinging New York 70's, when departments stores were rocking and cool and threw parties all the time that ended at Studio 54 with people doing coke off of each other and my dad TOTALLY freaking out and leaving (the man's an unpaid NARC, swear). So maybe I have a soft spot for the glory days of the department store. Whatever. I'm usually at this Neiman-Marcus during lunch, so I'm usually pretty rushed and not checking prices on everything. But I can speak to one thing. These people are crazy! The make-up ladies have NO problem telling you that you look like crap to get you to buy more make-up because you suddenly feel so tragically ugly. They pulled this routine on one of my most beautiful friends at the Lancome counter, telling her she had heinous dark circles under her eyes that she needed to remedy right now by buying an absurd amount of eye cream. When they switched to me, asking me what I would need, I shut them down with a curt "nothing" before they could get on my case about freckles or something. The ladies in the party dress section are entirely lackluster, and these are career salespeople. This is their CAREER, this is what they STRIVE FOR. If your size isn't there, f**k you, we've got nothing. Good luck getting them to haul their butts over to the computer to check another store. Also, their tailoring department is CRAP. Said beautiful, Lancome-bashed friend brought them a dress three different times for tailoring. The last time, it was her back-up dress for a big event. They practically destroyed the zipper, the seams were off, and it all looked sort of sideways. The head seamstress apologized profusely and said it was the work of an apprentice, but we could only wonder: who checks the work before it goes out? And they didn't even have the dress ready for the event. And they still charged her. Where is customer service these days? read more

This review is strictly for the women's shoes. I will do my darnedest to never come back. I came into do an exchange, which apparently was too difficult for the salesperson to handle. He didn't listen to what I was looking for, and when he rang me up for the wrong item, I, trying to be patient and understanding, apologized. Big mistake. He raised his voice, and acted like I was ruining his day when he had to go void the item. I'm pretty sure he thinks I never passed third grade math, as he kept speaking over me to try to explain what was going back on my card, when I just wanted to be sure I would get the same price next time, as I used a coupon code. To which he replied, with his sarcastically puzzled look, "oh, I have no idea about that." Once he realized the store didn't have the item in stock, and I'd need to order it online, I am pretty sure he took the lack of commission out on me. I've never been so insulted, and it was over a damn pair of boots. First world problems, but this guy ruined my night. So much for NM trying to be like Nordstrom. No thanks. Disclaimer: I am a personal assistant for my boss, who is the reason I've been here multiple times now, so this has been my experience: They validate your parking. Each time, especially with returns, the employees have been phenomenal and make the experience so pleasant and easy for me. They will take things without the receipt or if you bought them online. The personal shoppers are fantastic as well. I recently had a chance to interact with a manager by the name of Ruben and he was above and beyond awesome and down to earth. I had a lot of things to have returned (which personal shopper Charles Walsh did fantastic at taking care of) and Ruben took care of me as if I was the customer. CAFE FOOD REVIEW: I tried their salmon salad and fell in love! It was simple (I asked for dressing on the side), but all the flavors were on point. The salmon had a perfect temperature. It had the perfect blend of fresh and it was not salty. I definitely want to come back for more of this salad. It was the perfect ratio of fish to veggies. As for their Oreo Cheecake, it was also so memorable! It had a beautiful consistency of creaminess that I don't get to experience often enough. This is also a must have! Great for sharing. My mom bought really expensive chinchilla coat from Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills. She took good care of the coat. After a while, the same coat started to fall apart and now it's not wearable at all! I brought the coat to fur department at NMBH. Their final answer was "Since the coat was not in their possession, there is nothing they can do. Fur specialist can make a scarf out of the coat, but it will cost you $1400." Unbelievable! I don't know what happened to Nieman Marcus lately, but TERRIBLE!!! I placed a very large on line order, half the items arrived wrinkled balled up in the plastic bag - not folded! kind of like how we do it sending things back but to sell them like that was terrible. Then I went into the store to return just a few items and it took one hour to process the return. Then for some reason, I managed to purchase a Celine bag as a gift and went downstairs for gift wrapping - waited 30 minutes for the WORST SLOPPY JOB! I had to take it all off. Cheap wrinkled ribbon - the box twice the size i needed . . . and on. NEVER GOING BACK even though they just spent a fortune making the store look beautiful. Apparently the used to only accept American Express cards for purchases, but now that Capital One bought HSBC, Visa should be good to go here as well. I had to wait forever for a sales associate to help me b/c she was too busy tending to someone else and when I finally got my diamond necklace that I put on hold, it looked used. How can a respectable establishment like Neiman Marcus sell dirty, used diamond jewelry?! I was APPALLED at the sales associate. She was pretentious, not knowledgeable, and careless. I really wish the commission for my necklace didn't go to her. I used to work as a manager in a high end department store, and I would never hire the sales associate that I had to deal with. Since the store is in snobby Beverly Hills, they REALLY need to work on their customer service. They should train their staff to treat all customers with the same respect whether there is a $5 or $50,000 purchase. I wouldn't shop at this location ever again. FYI, they don't take any other credit cards except their own. So if you're going to make a big purchase, bring lots of cash, your checkbook, open a new account, or better yet, go somewhere else. My wife ordered two sweaters over the phone and paid $15 extra for expedited shipping to get the sweaters by Christmas. Days later we checked the shipping status only to find it hadn't been shipped. When she called, she learned that they had an incorrect address even though my wife repeated the address multiple times when placing the order. They had to cancel the order altogether and could not re-ship the items since they now say they no longer have her size in a particular color. read more

I simply brought in the torn jeans to the customer service department along with my receipt (i called Neiman and had them mail me one from records) and a week later I received a check. This store skews a little older - in their clientele, staff, and fashions. I often have a harder time finding things I like here as opposed to Saks or Barney's. The staff is a mix bag as well. Some are great, but some are not knowledgeable about the product, or don't even bother helping you, unless they think you're planning on dropping a lot of dough. However, the most disappointing thing is that they are getting rid of their home department downstairs. That department had awesome stuff and had the best staff in the whole store. I just don't get it. This was the last place that had great home stuff from the big department stores (besides Barney's, which is much smaller department). Still I enjoy coming here. Bought a hand bag from Neiman Marcus is Beverly Hills (Goyard). After one and a half years the zipper broke. I took the bag back to Nieman Marcus and was told that I have to pay $700.00 to replace the zipper! I called Neiman Marcus Executive Office and was told there is nothing they can do for me! I was told that Goyard is a leased space from Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills! I believe that Neiman Marcus should stand behind their customers and try to help. Neiman Marcus should not lease spaces to foreign companies who do not adhere to the standards of American Customer Service. The bag was repaired in Beverly Hills for $60.00. Customers be ware. Please make sure that when you buy at Neiman Marcus (from a leased space) that you are going to receive good customer care. My sister and I arrived here to purchase an outfit and shoes for my upcoming graduation. Unfortunately, there are so many forms of microagression present in this store. I would of expected a non-judgmental "Hello," or "Welcome to NM!" The whole 2 hours we were here, no one came up to us, or even asked us if we needed assistance. As we walked through the shoe aisles trying on many beautiful shoes, the employees just stared at us as if we were lost deers in the headlights. For a high end store in a wealthy city, I would of expected the best service here. Sadly their service was poor, and it reflected upon the store and the NM name. I believe a course in customer service and social skills would be beneficial to treat customers with respect, despite if they did not look a certain way.
