It's not what you want neimans to be. In my experience, Niemans was always a place for luxury shopping. This store seems like a mediocre Macys. Middle of the road brands, used timepieces on display, shopkeepers on their phones. It just felt depressing being there. They would be better off shutting down this store to preserve the brand. I've always been a fan of neimans in other locations- let's hope this is just a Chicago experience and not a company wide issue. read more

One of the best Neiman Marcus locations I've been to - part of the Magnificent Mile, this Neiman Marcus is not only huge, but they literally have an amazing selection of ALL the designers that you could ever imagine! Goyard fans? They have a boutique, located right inside. Looking for BV? They have a great collection, and I loved checking out their cardigans and sweaters. Frame fan? Their selection is amazing. All the items that you see in the main Neiman's site, this tore seemed to have it readily available. There was a friendly SA who had the dressing room set up and checked in on us throughout our shopping experience. Definitely a nice spot to stop by to shop or do some eye shopping. I must say their men's furnishing department was fantastic. I wish I remembered a gentleman's name who helped me. He was able to match up some shirts and ties for three different guys in my life for a wedding. He did an amazing job. The prices was expensive, but it was worth it. They were able to overnight me shirts ties and handkerchiefs that coordinated fantastic and fit like a glove what you would expect from a Neiman Marcus. read more

I stopped by to look at sweaters in between my doctor's appointments. I didn't find the sweater I had in mind plus I didn't have enough time to leisurely try on other clothing, so I thought I would come back after my appointment to look at more clothing and maybe a pair of earrings. On my way out, I got yelled at by an older blond haired in a bun female sales rep who worked at the perfumes/makeup counter. She angrily looked at me and yelled EXCUSE ME! ARE YOU LOOKING FOR SOMETHING?! It was loud enough for others to hear. I guess if I have worn my expensive watches on each wrist, draped in jewelry and carry my Chanel and Dior purses on each shoulders, I would be treated with human decency. Needless to say, I didn't go back and I will never go back, and I am glad I didn't spend my money there. The staff at the Goyard boutique are so friendly. I loved every interaction with them during my visit. They were happy to let me see items around the store. I ended up purchasing a card holder. My sales person was the best. I will say this Goyard boutique is a lot better than the one in Beverly Hills. I will take this down after the holidays but I want gift shoppers to be warned. I bought a $350 dollar gift today. Asked if they had gift wrap. Yes, it's $7.50 for customers without a Neimans card. No big deal. I'm a long time Neimans shopper, I wasn't expecting the Jay Strongwater trinket we used to get. My purchase was taken to the back and I came back to pick it up. What I got was disgraceful. A plain black box and barely a bow. Who wants to give a black box as a holiday gift. This should be free. I had the worst experience with Neiman Marcus and their customer service department. My wedding registry randomly disappeared one day with zero notice. I was then told that the service was shut down and none of my information was accessible to me. I had to call customer service every time I received a package and state the order number to be told who had made the purchase from my registry. I had one family friend purchase a gift for me in July and the order was never fulfilled and then suddenly canceled with no explanation in December. I called several times about the order and was told it would be fulfilled with me as priority. When I explained this to the customer service representative they did absolutely nothing. This is the only luxury store on Michigan Avenue that have K9 in their store for the black consumers. While shopping at Neiman Marcus Chicago on Sunday 11/19/23, I experienced terrible customer service. I failed to bring my Neiman Marcus credit card with me on this shopping trip. The sales associate helping me in the men's shoe department was new to the position and asked a fellow associate to help him with a card look up. The man whom I failed to get his name was older, wore glasses, and had grey and black salt and pepper hair. When the older associate arrived to help he looked at me and huffed while rolling his eyes and said " I don't know call security!" In a stern voice. The security on duty arrived flashing his badge. I asked if he were the manager and he said no with an attitude. I explained what happened and that usually a card lookup or keying in the card number from the capital one app on my phone has worked in the past. The security guard continued to dismiss my request for a manger and became more aggressive each time I asked. Finally another associate came to assist that knew how to help their new peer with the card look. Two managers arrived and I was given an apology and offered a beverage from their bar. I accepted the apology but turned down the beverage. I was about to spend just under $2000. My friend spend just under $200 in fragrance 30 minutes earlier and I spent $1300 at the Neiman Marcus in Oakbrook the day before. I am appalled at the service give to African American customers. My husband requested I return all items purchased from both locations and close my credit card. Which I will do after the holiday. read more

This Neiman Marcus opened around 1982 it's been remodeled a few times. It's located on Michigan Avenue off of superior. It's architecture is very different from any other Neiman Marcus. it's gorgeous elegant & clean with the most haute Couture of items in jewelry, Clothes, Shoes and Handbags. The employees here are incredibly friendly and the customer service is five stars! Also, The bathrooms are kept very clean. the restaurant upstairs is delicious and everything is fresh I also love the idea of the full bar. It was so exciting to shop and realize I could lunch at Mariposa. So nice to be a lady who lunches. Sadly they have lost their touch. The host who was slovenly and rude.. nearly bit my head off when I said "May is have a table for one". He retorted, in a very nasty way, "There are people ahead of you!"... I apologized as I hadn't realized the people seated on the hassocks were waiting for tables. But nasty Mike/Mark spent the whole time I was there complaining about staff and how poorly supported he was. He seated me at a table in the back and spent most of his time talking to a Neiman's employee lunching at the table next to me. Rude, rude, rude and unpleasant staff... I entered at 3pm, March 19, 2022, in case anyone cares. Food was mediocre, my table had crumbs when I was seated and place settings for two for which they never removed the extra place setting. When I asked if they could look up my card and use my Rewards card, they said "we don't do that anymore".... Oh, well pointless to expect a nice lunch after spending thousands shopping. I bought a canali suit and paid for express overnight shipping but my order wasn't shipped till 3 days later (although it said that it was available in store) and didn't get it till the following week which was too late for me as I missed a very important meeting for my job. I make it a point to eat at the Maraposa Room in every city I visit that has a NM store. I like that the restaurant is small and cozy. I also like that they keep my favorite food on the menu. Went into Neiman Marcus to return an item. Went straight to "the Service kiosk" at the store where a man was leaning against the desk. I approached him as he looked at me with disdain. I told him I wanted to return something. He sneered further at me and pointed in the direction of other registers and said "go there"! No customer service, no apology nothing! In my annoyance at hime, I asked "whyis that sign "service desk" there? His response to me was "I don't know, my name is not on the store outside". As I walked towards another service desk, I replied, "That is a good thing" Bottom line, after speaking to the store manager, operations manager, and even head office, all I got were carefully worded corporate apologies with the standard vacant, "we will speak to him". I am sorry but that is not enough. They clearly did not take the man, in this photo for what he did seriously or how insulted and degraded I felt. Buyer Beware Upfront: the item I purchased was from Last Call, hyper-markdown merchandise. A cashmere cardigan (NM store brand) purchased in May was first work the following November. When the seams separated in two places and the suede whip stitching unraveled, I tried to return the item. Although the item was clearly defective, because six months had elapsed (silly me, not wearing my sweater in the summer!) they refused replacement or refund. I give NM zero (0) on their customer service and I will NEVER spend my hard earned $$$ there again. This is a total first world problem but I am YELPING for the principle of it. I tried to return a Sisley eyeliner that was poorly designed and defective. I paid $55 (!!) for it and the crayon fell out and was stuck at the top of the cap. It's the type of eyeliner crayon that gets cranked out w a turn--not the type that is a real pencil crayon embedded in wood which needs sharpening (ALWAYS BUY THE PENCIL-TYPE). First, I was blamed by the cosmetic salesperson--that I had used up the product (WRONG)--it was stuck in the pen and squished in cap, second, the salesperson said that the product was used (well, DUH!) I called over the manager who looked it up and it was past 30 days (I had not been back to NM to return it sooner and had it in a Ziploc bag for that opportunity). I called over another manager (higher level), and got the same story. NO RETURN! NO RETURN! NO RETURN! I just wanted an exchange for a pencil type eyeliner. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - NO ONE IS EVER IN THE STORE - THEY ARE BASICALLY DEAD AND GOING BANKRUPT. Fine with me. I will still window shop for size on shoes and clothes and then go online to find a good deal elsewhere. I didn't even mention that the lingerie specialist I bought a couple of items from several months ago used my credit card WITHOUT my permission and had items sent to me that I never requested. Well, that was gutsy! I returned those but should have reported fraud on my credit card. After my experience today, I can completely understand why people prefer Nordstrom over this place. The customer service here is more like "cross your fingers and hope you land on someone polite". Some, not all, of your sales people are just mean, degrading, and just awful. Being asked " if this is my first pair of expensive shoes" with an attitude is extremely degrading because I brought up an issue that a brand new $700 pair of shoes should NOT have; and since all of my other (same brand) expensive shoes have NOT had these issues, I think it's a valid point I've made. They don't want to help, just try to brush you off and tell you an issue is normal wear. (SHOULDNT BE CONSIDERED WEAR IF THE PAIR OF SHOES HAS NOT BEEN WORN). Their return policy is ridiculous for a high end department store that should value their customers. I was a few days past the 30 days and messaged someone online. They told me they would get back to me within 48 hours and I heard nothing back. I then went to the store and they as well would not do anything for me. I have a busy life and a lot going on with sick parents, work, and trying to plan a wedding. It is outrageous that nothing is even attempted to make a customer happy.
