DELICIOUS!!!! So yummy -- the jalapeño poppers were actually the best. Which is why they didn't even make the picture; they were gone within seconds on our table. A restaurant friendly for kids, friends, families, small and large groups! Our server was awesome and took great care of our group of 9. It was a little crowded and busy however we arrived with a reservation handy! I'd recommend making one if planning a visit over the weekend.

Heard a lot about Nellie's and I am glad I tried. The bar area is as old school as you can get. The bartender was a nice fella and I believe has been there for a long time. They have thin crust pizza that you can order crispy or well done. I ordered it crispy but would probably do it well done next time. Had one with sausage and one with pepperoni. Both were good. I wouldn't mind coming back.

The pizza is delicious thin crust and deserves 5 stars. We get takeout from here frequently and should probably stick with that. The old dining room needs some TLC. There was a thick layer of dust on the ledge next to our booth and the woman at the hostess stand was pretty gruff or I would have asked to sit in the newer room by the bar. I think I did see a sign that they would be renovating soon, so hopefully it will soon be worthy of their stellar pizza.

I've been to Nellies Place before but not in a long time. My husband and I went on Saturday night early and the place was already slammed. I've been there before earlier in the day and it is always busy. They have parking in the front and a lot of parking in the back and it all does get filled . There is normally a wait. We were lucky enough to find a seat at the bar where my husband could stand and we ordered a few drinks. The bartender was outstanding. She never stopped. She was also extremely attentive and made a very good cosmopolitan for myself and my husband enjoyed a few glasses of Guinness. We decided to order the Irish nachos because I've seen them there before and they looked good and wow, they were delicious. The serving of them was huge and enough for us to split and we were full. They have homemade potato chips on top and then topped with lots of corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese. They were so unique and really good. We were so full after we didn't even have room to get a pizza like we originally planned. We will definitely be back. This is a great place to go for a drink, to split a pizza, or out to dinner with the family.

Woahhhh Nellie, let's reel back the horses for a moment. Linguini B is here to partially halt the breaks on this Thin Crust choo choo train. We all know what recently happened. Mr. Portnoy... creator of the StoolieVerse left a bewildering and bold review of this spot, flipping Bergen County onto it's head and spinning it around in circles like a cardboard box break dancer. (But without the cardboard and without the knitted cap.) Minds boggled, brains busted, skulls bloodied and scarred with the circular scrapes one gets from spinning their noggins on concrete... more simply put the neighborhood was either cheering or jeering. A rivalry that Linguini B had to get to the bottom of. Once and for all. A Wednesday night in December. The town is bustling. Kinchley's and Nellie's are packed houses! The news brought out the supporters of each and the venturers who now wanted skin in the game. Why not then, I said, choose Nellie's as I have never frequented. With lofty expectations and a stomach ready to plow through and chow up some pizza and wings... I entered the establishment. Immediately, I am a fan of the spot. Nice vibe, huge space, large bar, booths and tables alike. Real facility they got here. The atmosphere was that of a playoff game. Either that was all in my head or the heaviness of the air that DaveyP facilitated was tangible. I lean the second. Expectations rising, the hype is bouncing off the inner walls of my egghead. We start off with the Buffalo Wingz, first little point deduction here. We definitely should've gone Elkin but that's no excuse. The wings were crispy, they were full but they were nearly sauce-less. The buff sauce had basically just not stuck to the wings and instead created an overly liquid pool of runny Buffalo sauce in the serving plate. Not what you wanna see. Wings themselves though, again, were good. And they had an absolutely lovely lovely house ranch sauce that must be factored into the overall wing appreciation. 7.2 wing, good/solid wing but could easily be better. Now the star of the show. Pizza pizza. One plain bar pie, one large pie with Fra Diavalo and meatballs. It's only right. Only way to get a clear winner in what I was expecting to be the battle of the decade. I recommend ALL PIZZA TASTERS, including the so-called Pizza King himself get both pies with the Fra Diavolo. It's the local way. It's the only way. Let's get into the pie: - Thicker crust than you'd expect. The doughiest thin crust I've ever had but that's not a bad thing for me personally. For some this will be a let-down though. - Whole lotta cheese, connects with the dough making it almost like a cheesy crust type... unique for sure. - Sweet sauce which again I personally enjoy bc I have class and I have taste buds that can handle it and appreciate it. - Fra Diavolo... hotter than Kinch's, more oily... meatballs same size and shape but less seasoning. Score on Pizza in general: 7.9. I think that's the same score actually so respect to Dave. Very Good, just not great. No shame in the game at all. BUT. Nellie's ain't no Kinch. Wouldn't even really say it's close. Kinch is crispier, tastier, and better toppings. This isn't a rivalry. This is big bro - little bro. Little bro emulates big bro, looks up to it. Yankees-Mets. Peyton-Eli. Dawg-Puppy. You catch the drift. Kinchley's is clear. But no need to fear. For if you love the thin crust. In Nellie's you can still trust. A real respectable joint. But The Kinch is whom I anoint. King of the thintucci. Sayonara - Linguini Bonotucci.

I have dined here a few times but the last time was probably my last time. Service was horrific. The young girl hostess was terrible. We had a table of six and she went to put us at a four top and then walked away. Then we sat in the room upfront in a booth and we should have noticed all of the unhappy customers sitting around us. Multiple tables walked out or complained. They kept all of those tables dirty and never bussed the tables. Even our table we had to ask them to take away our appetizer plates and garbage. Our server he was terrible. I have never been to a place before where a round of beer took over 15 minutes. The apps took forever as well we are sure he forgot to put them in. Out of the six of us only one persons order came out right. When we pointed out what was missing, it was not quickly corrected. Service was painfully slow and nothing is worse than so many errors and food coming out incorrect. Example a salad, no dressing. Soup missing, side dishes wrong. So many errors and again incredibly slow service while sitting in a dirty dinning room. Nothing like finally getting your entree after sitting there for close to two hours and looking around with the bones of buffalo wings from a table that got up an hour ago. Also they rang us up twice for the same meal and when we brought it up the waiter became confrontational. We asked to see the manager and he was so short with us. I have no idea what's going on at that place anymore. A neighbor told me she has a bad experience too but I didn't fully believe them . Well trust me I believe them now and finally to put the icing on the cake the walls had so many gnats and bugs on them. This place used to be a staple for us but never again. The people we were with were horrified as well.

Nice atmosphere but can get really loud when when packed. They do seem understaffed when busy. We went in recently and the host/hostess was nowhere to be found. Food is good but sometimes inconsistent. First time I went the fried calimari was great but the next time was meh. Kinda odd to me that they served me a can of beer and no glass. Other places will do that normally. However, their pizza and elkin wings are consistently excellent. Highly recommend getting them.

Some sort of cheese. Looks like Kraft
    Chandler B.

Meh. Pizza is ice cold and cheese was mushy. Really disappointed. $70 for three pies. Two were gluten free but not worth it at all. Really disappointed. It is Saturday and the place was busy but I'm still paying $20 for a pie.

Unfortunately, that attitude disappears the moment there's a problem. When my food arrived, the quality was shockingly poor. The salad looked old and wilted, like it had been sitting around far longer than it should have. The bread was stale, and the sandwich meat had a strange, processed texture that made it feel more like plastic than food. What made the experience even worse was the response when the issues were brought up. Instead of standing behind their food or trying to make things right, the staff became rude, dismissive, and arrogant. A restaurant's true character shows when something goes wrong, and this place failed that test completely. Between the low-quality food and the poor handling of customer concerns, this was a thoroughly disappointing and unpleasant dining experience. This has happened multiple times

The restaurant is very pretty overall, though the interior is quite dim, making it difficult to read the menu without additional light. The tables were also placed fairly close together. Our server was polite and welcoming throughout the evening. We started with the Korean fried chicken and tuna tataki. The chicken was moist and coated in a sweet and spicy sauce. The tuna tataki was flavorful; however, the taro chips were very thin and tended to break easily when holding the tuna. For our main courses, we ordered the Icelandic cod, rigatoni, Freebird chicken, and a side of whipped potatoes. Dessert was the hazelnut chocolate crunch, which was a nice way to end the meal. Overall, the food was enjoyable. That said, the pricing felt more in line with a fine dining experience, while the atmosphere and service were closer to an upscale casual restaurant. Some small details, such as the whipped potatoes being served without a serving spoon, stood out. While minor, these details can make a difference, especially at this price point.

I suggest you head towards the houses, away from town, if you can't find a spot. I've been anxious to try this place as the pictures look solid enough and reviewers thus far seem content. My wife and I entered with plans to have beer and apps. We ended up getting Guinness, onion rings, fried calamari and the Cooper's Burger. You can't beat a 22oz Guinness for $8. The prices on their website also match what you'll see inside. Lately I find so many restaurants are charging more than they advertise online. Service was great, friendly and very attentive. I was also surprised to see how well they clean tables between customers. Spray, wipe table, wipe lamp, shakers, etc. It's totally clean for the next customer. There are only 8 or so tables in here, plus bar seating. We enjoyed some comfy seats at a high top table for two. The onion rings were great - crisp and battered nicely so they hold together. While almost a little overcooked, they were still good and better than I had at the last high end steakhouse I went to. The fried calamari was fairly priced and a good portion. It had a light crispness, though bigger pieces would've been nicer. They were mostly small, but certainly a lot of it. The accompanying marinara was good and plentiful. We got the Cooper's Burger cooked medium and it came out medium. It's a simple burger that comes with lettuce and tomato. Some red onion wouldn't been nice. They charge extra for all sorts of stuff you can get on top - fried mushrooms, fried onions, eggs, etc. It also comes with fries, which were good. Overall, it was a nice cozy time. Several middle aged couples ate here that night and a couple small groups. No loud bar crowds as they're all on central avenue. In fact, I was surprised how nice the acoustics were inside. You can hear people at your table no problem, can hear the music inside at the right level and don't hear a lot of background chatter or noise. I'd most certainly return if in the mood for pub food. The blue cheese sauce was creamy and shockingly tasty. This especially surprised me since I do not like blue cheese, and I enjoyed theirs. The owner was nice enough to offer lettuce, tomato, and onion. We opted out since my dad does not eat any of those. Otherwise, I would have added them. I was also unsure if they would have put them on only half the sandwich. The size we ordered was the largest of the three sandwich sizes. The three sizes are Small, Primo, and Whole. The sandwich was considerably delightful. The bread was warm, fresh, and toasted. The chicken seemed to be grilled white meat; particularly, I believe it was breast meat. In fact they even put a great portion of chicken within the sandwich. The buffalo sauce was not too spicy, just a little kick and pretty tolerable. My dad felt the drink he had with his half-help relieved the spice and felt the drink was needed to help eat the sandwich to avoid any spice. The blue cheese was creamy and really tasty, as previously mentioned. The prepacked dessert(the killer brownie company "flavor kitchen sink")was definitely not the highlight of this place. I felt it was slightly soft and crunchy. Just particularly unappetizing, and I would not get it again. Overall, the experience was quite enjoyable and pleasant.
