BYOB, which is always nice if you're a wine drinker. Ambiance was very nice and staff was attentive. The food, however, was a bit underwhelming. I had the Chicken Scarpariello and had the impression it was premade. My friend's wife had the pistachio crusted fish and she said it was good. Superb, quintessential Italian American food with a dash of old school chivalry! We stopped in on a Sunday night, as we were in the area visiting, and upon a Yelp search, Fionna's was a little further down on the list, but I'M SOOOO HAPPY WE FOUND IT! Traditional tortellini en brodo, escarole and bean soup, chicken parmigiana, chicken allá casa (commonly known as Chicken Sorrento), and a Sunday special of crab meat, shrimp, thin linguini were all sooo delectable in this white tablecloth and carpeted dining room. It provided a yummy experience while still maintaining the elegant dining room and allowed us to still eat and be at ease. There was always a staff member nearby, but we didn't find we needed them- they served brilliantly, even included the spoon with the sides of linguini! And that sauce-was plump marinara, not too acidic, not too sweet, just right! The delicious bread was free flowing and great to dip in the appetizer soups and included-with-all-meals-salads. A couple of tips: 1. Save room for desert- they have a variety of new and traditional ones and the two we had were phenomenal- we had the chocolate banana cake, black n white mouse cake, a regular coffee, and a few decaf cappuccinos that were very complementary (even the whipped cream on the side of the black n white mouse was drizzled with chocolate syrup and coming from someone who doesn't eat whipped cream, it was AWESOME). 2. This is a BYOB restaurant, and I'd highly recommend bringing your favorite "poison" to complement the already great experience read more

My wife & I have been to Fiona's multiple times & we checked YELP to see if they were open today, Monday, 11/25/24. Per YELP, they were to be open until 9:00 PM. We drove from New York, only to find that they decided to close on Mondays. They just crossed out the hours for Monday. Thank you Fiona's for being too lazy to let YELP know you changed your hours and for wasting my time in driving over half an hour to find you decided to close on Mondays. Went here for Valentine's Day with my husband. We had the eggplant and lump crap meat appetizers- both were excellent. I had one of the daily specials- capellini with shrimp, lump crab meat and arugula with a pink cream sauce was delicious it was a large portion so I have some extra for today :-) Hubby had the Veal Piccata and loved it. We were too full to have dessert but maybe next time. Our waiter was outstanding so we're all the workers. We will definitely be back. read more

Where to start. Too bright, too loud, too much like a diner, with worse food . Bread served warm, but w nothing to keep it that way, not sliced through and chilled butter in plastic packs..why bother . Burrata special app was tasteless and tomato was not ripe. Dinner salad was brown and clearly came out of a store bag . Sliced onions piled on top didn't help. 2 Veal meals were dry, overly salted and neither of us opted to finish . Best part of my meal was the potato . wait staff seemed disinterested and inattentive. Question any review that claims " great food". Start to finish, not a pleasant experience and unless someone at ownership level pays attention to their product, they wont last long . We won't return. I would not recommend coming to Fiona's for a great or even good Italian dinner. The service.....lacking at best. The food? Over-cooked Calamari with a marinara that tasted just like puréed tomatoes. Shrimp Francesca.....nope. That's all I can say about the Francesca part....5 shrimp not well cooked 26$ -a rip off! Veal Marsala......ours had some sort of metal in it maybe part of a kitchen utensil? Apologies? No! Did they do anything to make it right? NO! Are you kidding me??????? When I was paying the waiter asked me why I was writing comments. I explained my displeasure and he yelled at me and called me a Karen? Seriously? What a terrible traumatic experience. Fiona's was a pleasant surprise. I was looking for a good, classic style (little out of date) Italian spot, and I found it! FOOD: We ordered the special buratta app, YUM! The grilled veggies on this appetizer were very lovely and the buratta/buffalo mutz was so good it was 'TO CALL YOUR NONA AND TELL HERE ABOUT IT' good. They do your typical over-dressed (in all the right ways!) salad first with entree orders. The salad was fresh and crisp, just to my liking. I ordered the Chicken Verona, which was exceptional. I don't usually order chicken at an Italian restaurant but I was feeling a flex move. It wasn't anything too "new" in style (the mushrooms added a nice flair) but it was also executed very well. Thick yet light on the sauce, lovely temperature (I cannot stress enough how freshly cooked is so important!). The only con regarding their food is their sad steamed veggies. They just simply need some help. I mean, think about it... I received this lovely sliced and seasoned baked/broiled potato and then I got a side of steamed, blaaaaaaa carrots, squash and a single broccoli. In fairness, I get it. It's not about the veggies. However, it's a small thing where, if the veggies are going to be squishy, watery and tasteless, just leave them off the plate. Butttt, that's just my opinion. I think the special appetizer I ordered set me up for harsher judgement because those grilled veggies were very good. However, I'd go back and order this again and again anyway, ha! My husband ordered the special mini meatball rigatoni in pink sauce. YES. All the YESES. The meatballs were very delicious and the right consistency and the sauce was marvelous. Amazing serving sizes as well. SERVICE: The service was exceptional as well. We had Yoni (my husband thinks it was Jonny). Neither here nor there, he was fantastic. The place is BYOB but they do a great job setting up for an ice bucket and pouring for you as well. Lovely staff. OVERALL: Really glad I came here. First time here. Very nice experience. Waiter was great! Very attentive. Explained the specials in detail which all sounded delicious. We had the homemade Crab Cake appetizer which was one of the best i've tasted. Then the salad with house dressing which was average. The Bread was excellent. I have always felt that you can tell a great restaurant by how much they care about their bread. The Entrees were delicious. Eggplant Parmesan & Chicken Parmesan with Ziti with Riccotta cheese was soo good. The portions are huge so you will get a big bang for your buck here. We left very satisfied and we will be back. The food was good but the service just wasn't that good. We arrived on time for our reservations and were promptly seated. We ordered our appetizer, Clams oreganata and our main meal at the same time and we waited...and waited. 15 minutes after we placed our order an elderly couple was seated at the table behind ours, I noticed their appetizers were on the table in 5 minutes, maybe they were "regulars" at the restaurant? We were still waiting for our appetizer to arrive. 50 minutes after we placed our order our clam appetizer finally showed up. I glanced over at the elderly couple that was seated behind us and they were already into their main course. Our main course arrived around 15 minutes after we finished eating our appetizer which was now just over an hour after we placed our order. After our we finished our meal I flagged down our waiter and asked for the check. The folder with the check and my card now sat on the table, I saw the waiter pass by and I held up the billfold to hand it to him but he ignored me and went to another table. The manager saw I was trying to pay and he hustled over and grabbed the check and my card. BTW Fiona's does charge an additional fee for paying by credit card. All in all, we sat at our table for a good hour and a half. Did I mention the service wasn't that good? read more

I've ate here numerous times for work outings and since I was in the area with family I thought I'd stop in as it seems like a nice family spot, but I was wrong!! Staff is absolutely rude and the owner/manager Jimmy is a disgusting human being. My child (6yrs old) was laying down on a chair at our table because he was tired from his soccer game. Jimmy came over and told us if he didn't sit up we would have to leave. I kindly explained to him the situation and he didn't seem to care. He told my son that he had 5min to sit up correctly or he would kick us out. Over the next few minutes he made it very clear we were not welcomed here. We felt uncomfortable and I asked for the check before we even received our meals. Just fyi, it's all Albanians here. It's not authentic Italian food, they're cooking American Italian food with way too much garlic and oregano. Nothing tastes fresh. This was the last time I'll ever step foot in the place no matter what. And I'll be sure to let everyone know how terrible the staff here is. read more

I just hosted a bridal shower for my daughter. Living in NC and hosting a shower was a challenge but with the help of my dearest friend, Kathy and Fiona's owner, Jimmy it couldn't have been better. There's probably hundreds of places like this across the US- simple, family, red sauce Italian joint. The only thing about this one is that it's OURS. The bar was set very high for us, having recently moved from Hoboken where we were blocks away from Augustinos, some of the best Italian I've ever had (including in Italy). We just wanted a place that didn't suck, which was surprisingly hard to find in the land of North Jersey Italians. I guess standards are high. It looks like any other restaurant, with gold accents, older gentleman waiters, and Sinatra softly playing in the background. On a Friday night there were tables (mostly full) of families, couples, and friends enjoying dinner. We wanted to try a few things to get a good read in the place so of course we over-ordered. Our meal started out with complementary (warm!) crusty bread, and a dip of olives and garlic in olive oil. Off to a good start. We ordered the fried calamari and mozzarella en carozza as apps. They were both served hot and crispy in ample portions. At this point we were full and we still had leftovers, lol. For entrees we had veal Milanese and a pasta special of spicy sausage, broccoli rabe, white beans and rigatoni. I only regret the special isn't available very day because it was the perfect amount and flavor of ingredients! Spicy sausage, bitter broccoli rabe, tender pasta and garlic sauce to kill a vampire lol. The veal was served with the salad next to the cutlet which made it easier to take home (again, the fullness). Of course we had to try dessert (for research purposes). We had to wait a little while to flag the waiter to bring the dessert tray, which was one negative. We had the lemon pignoli tart which was light and refreshing- no leftovers there. The final check was around $75+tip which was reasonable for about two meals worth of food, a pleasant night out, and another check off the list (hometown Italian spot). read more

First time here and everything was great. Came on a Saturday night around 7 and easily got a seat. Crowd seemed a bit older but I also saw some kids and families scattered. Love the bread and fresh olive oil which comes with Mediterranean olives. Also, the ice tea they bring out is not skimping with lemons, something most places don't recognize as important. For appetizers we got a beet, goat, and arugula special and the homemade mozzarella appetizer. The special was extraordinary! The mozzarella was delicious, not as tasty as the special but I'd definitely order it again. The salad they gave us was plain and cold with a light oil dressing nothing special. Our entree's were chicken scarpiello, shrimp scampi, and a chilean sea bass special with caviar and over crab meat spinach . Delicious, delicious and wonderful taste! Very pleased with all the food and what pleased me the most was that the chef (or some important person other than our waiter) walked out when we had our food and asked how we were doing. What a great find in Bergen County. Fiona's Restaurant is an Italian restaurant in Midland Park that offers both a lunch and dinner menu. For my entrée I chose the Gnocchi Pesto which came with a side salad. The salad could use some work as it was a few pieces of iceberg lettuce, red onions, carrots, and a grape tomato. The portion of the entree was so large I took half of it home. The pesto sauce was creamy and fresh. The dish was also garnished with walnuts which gave the dish a great crunchy texture. The taste and textures of this meal was spot on & my leftovers tasted even better. I suggest this entree dish to anyone who is vegetarian, like me. My table also got a variety of desserts which we shared with one another. Their desserts are on point. I suggest saving room for dessert or bringing your dessert home if you are too full from dinner. I cannot wait to come back to Fiona's and try more vegetarian options on the menu. I give Fiona's a 5/5 for great food, service, and experience. Friendly menu and friendly service. Not expensive and BYO. Five for dinner and the portions are pretty generous. Real "heavy" eating though. We each ordered something different... pork chop, gnocchi, veal, chicken and fish. Salads come with the entrees and an appetizer or two is shareable. Nothing that will win an award but certainly a good place for family dinner out. No complaints. We didnt get dessert so, no judging there at all, but the dessert menu looked good. read more

Food was not that good , had a the chicken parmigiana which was dry. What really stood out to me was the hidden fee's of the bill with paying credit card. An extra $20 was added to our bill making it over $300 because we used a credit card, they had an "atm" fee and a credit card fee. Everyone in our group for the life of us couldn't find where they had that sign posted or anything on the bill saying there are extra fee's with paying by cards. If there is indeed a sign or notice, it's hidden really well (7 different people couldn't find it) the staff seemed really sneaky. My opinion go elsewhere. The receipt was hand written. read more
