It was a close call when the sea's best ( shrimp, Crab) , white wine, tomato , basil and arugula are bedded with Linguini, is on the menu. However, last night the winning choice was a glorious linguini with little neck clams in a brilliant garlicky pepper flaked broth. To say the options are plenty does not do service to the vast options of homemade pastas, slow mastered sauces and land and sea delights. A chicken parm for example was a silky mozarella wedded to a tender chicken breast embedded in roasted burst of tomatoes. Service! Professional, knowledgeable and note to self- remember wine! While visiting family in New Jersey we dined at Rosario's in Midland Park. First question I always ask is if they had Gluten Free pasta, I was quickly told "No!" They should really consider adding GF options to increase their customers. Pizza for NJ was ok. Grilled chicken parm was very good. The bread comes out warm and crunchy. Garlic shrimp app is large enough to share and full of flavor. And, their homemade dressing is a lot like red wine. Worth a try for your own opinion. Local casual restaurant that has some pretty amazing things and you can be guaranteed you will not even agree when you leave. The escarole and bean broth as well as Rosario's calamari and their garlic shrimp appetizer are all amazing. A good restaurant should have three things: quality food, clean facilities, and a welcoming manager or owner. I've been to Rosario Trattoria seven times in the past six months, and while the food is solid and the place is clean, the experience is consistently spoiled by the owner. He is cold, unapproachable, and gives the impression that he has little patience--or tolerance--for people of different backgrounds or those who speak with an accent. As someone who falls into that category, this attitude is both offensive and discouraging. It's a stark contrast to the waitstaff, who are friendly and professional. The bottom line: good food and service, but the owner's unpleasant demeanor is a major turnoff. Until this changes, it's hard to fully recommend Rosario Trattoria despite its strengths. read more

A gem! My friend told me a chef I like is there and it did not disappoint. The decor is a bit stark and bland but the food is outstanding. Who would think an Italian spot would serve what was hands down the best candied yams I have ever tasted. Perfect with the fish and fruits that went with it. We sat in the dining room which is very inviting. the wait staff was friendly and our waitress was very patient with us. We asked a lot of (silly) questions. For apps we had a pizza, and crostini topped with fig buratta and prosciutto. Both the pizza and crostini were delicious. Our entrees were disappointing. I had shrimp parm on linguini. The shrimp texture seemed almost like it was fried in the batter way before and then just warmed up in the sauce. The linguini didn't seem "fresh" as advertised either. The shrimp in the fra Diablo sauce was not cooked in any seasoning or sauce first. It looked like shrimp in shrimp cocktail. The short ribs were way too salty. I don't think anyone in the kitchen tested the taste of the sauce or they wouldn't have let it out of the kitchen. People rave about this restaurant so I think we will give it another chance. read more

The trattoria is in a small strip mall with a decent sized parking lot. We were greeted upon entering the restaurant. The takeout area was off to the left. An adorable dining room was off to the right. We decided on eating in the takeout area. At the counter, we ordered a slice of plain and a slice of buffalo chicken. In addition, we ordered a coke and a diet coke. We were asked if we wanted a bottle or fountain. We asked for fountain soda. The fountain soda was excellent. The pizza was good. Food was delicious. Calamari a la Rosario was outstanding. Everyone was pleased with his or her entree, enjoying generous servings of grilled branzino, salmon fresco, chicken and chicken saltinbocca. The calamari was one of the best I've had. For dinner, I had the chicken parm. One of the best I've had. 2 days ago, I has an itch for eggplant parm, so I ordered a sandwich from there. Got takeout through seamless on a whim one night. The delivery was within the quoted time frame. The food arrived piping hot! The arancini were yummy and nice and cheesy inside. Stayed crispy during delivery. Nice and big and came with a little sauce. My favorite item in my order. The ravioli were pretty good and meaty, the sauce tasted a lot like like my grandma's. The pasta was slightly under done but I guess it's better than having the ravioli fall apart. The Rosario calamari had a little too much balsamic/bruschetta for me (overall the dish was a little too sweet) and I knowingly took a risk having this delivered but I wanted to try their signature calamari. They poked a hole in the top of the container so it would keep them as crispy as possible, which held up okay but the ones on the bottom were on the soggier side because of all the balsamic. If I get delivery again I will stick to plain calamari as this is probably better served in the restaurant or with the sauce on the side for delivery. read more

We were served WARM soft and fluffy on the inside, crunch outside bread (which believe it or not; not all places will have). I ordered the burrata pizza. Expected to see a big ball of burrata on the pizza so I can cut into and eat with my entire pizza. Instead there were slices that filled the pie; all melted. Almost looked like fresh mozzarella tbh I couldn't tell. Crunch light crust and crunchy bottom. Definitely a good pizza. 12 inch personal pizza for about 18 dollars. They charge extra if you use card (not by a lot; a dollar/2). But the weird thing is they can split a check down the middle. You have to quantify how much to put on one card (so someone might end up w the tax and credit card fee on their card!) Anyways. I would recommend and come back. Ate in the tent outside...a very nice set up with some propane heat going so we weren't cold, but we felt safe. Some of the portions were HUGE. My mother in law will have chicken parmesan for 3 more meals, lol. We also had the short rib ravioli, chicken toscana, pear and goat cheese salad, salmon with tiramisu and cannoli cream stuffed zeppoli for dessert. Everything was delicious! Very busy and noisy place. Couldn't have a real conversation with the 7 other people at our round table. Could really only talk to the people on either side of me. The waiter was nice and informative. We ordered the escarole and bean soup. When it came there was no broth. Had to have them take it back to add the broth. Not sure how that happens. The food was good. Not great, but good. The same person who ordered the soup ordered the short rib ravioli. We all watched him salt, pepper and Parmesan the heck out of it. He said it had no taste.
