I have only tried Breakfast every time I go. The Belgian Waffle is my favorite with a side of Bacon or Sausage. The French Toast is almost better than homemade, and the Blueberry Pancakes are so filling, I can never eat a full order! Don't forget the stretchy pants when you visit! Visiting my family for a week and we decided to go out for brunch. Nellie's was a great choice! I had the chorizo omelet and loved the blend of flavors. It came with hash browns and two pancakes. Just a little place off the highway in Evansville, IN. When we went inside it was PACKED with people and the food smelled delicious. Keep in mind this was the day before all restaurants were closed and most people were quarantined. This did not dissuade anyone from coming to Nellie's! I had the fried pork tenderloin, my mother had the loaded skillet and I've attached a picture of my boyfriend's double cheeseburger. We ALL really enjoyed our food. For dessert I enjoyed a creme brûlée. The waitress was absolutely wonderful and anticipated all of our needs despite a full dining room. Nellie's was recommended to me by a local, and when locals tell you where to eat, that's where you go. Boy, I can't remember the last time I had faster service at a sit-down restaurant. Pretty sure I was in and out of there in about half an hour. I didn't feel rushed or anything, they were just that fast. I sat at the counter because it always feels more diner-esque if you sit at the counter, but it really felt more like sitting at my kitchen counter (I mean that in the best way possible). The staff was funny and friendly, and I appreciated that. They seemed like they really enjoyed working there and working with each other. I washed my hands first thing, my drink order was there when I got back, they were ready to take my order immediately, and I opted for the giant pork tenderloin. What can I say? I was feeling Hoosiery today! It was a gorgeous tenderloin. They make them fresh on site, so none of those formerly-frozen briquettes that are fried to death. It was so tender and juicy, the breading was delicious, and it was served on a rather practical hoagie bun. Definitely in my top two (the other being the original at Nick's in Huntington, IN). If you want comfort food, diner food, and a friendly, family-oriented atmosphere, this is just the place. So glad I stopped! read more

Been hearing about this place's breakfasts for years and finally went... pretty disappointed. The restaurant was packed and bustling, the service and food came fast. We were in and out quickly. But the food itself left a lot to be desired. We both got skillets (Ay Caramba and Irish) and also a side of pancakes. My over easy eggs were literally RAW, and the other contents of the skillet seemed not to be cooked together but rather reheated and layered in a bowl (kind of failing at the whole concept of a "skillet"). None of the ingredients were cooked enough to develop flavor or texture, and everything seemed to lack depth. Pancake was fine, but that's tough to mess up! Really seems like there is just no care going into the food, that it's all about volume and quick turnover here. Wish we'd stayed home--simple and properly cooked eggs and toast would've been better and easier than dealing with all that chaos! read more

They have a fun and festive atmosphere. They are always decorated for the holiday. It is very welcoming and family friendly. The servers are also very friendly. They were accommodating for the baby that we had with us and got her a chair to sit in. Ask about specials if your server doesn't tell you about them. They have some tasty specials. I have gotten the pot roast twice (a special). Someone with me got liver and onions (another special). Regardless, they have a variety of options to choose from. I haven't been disappointed from something I have gotten yet. They have generous portions for the price you pay. I always leave full and I have leftovers in hand. I wish that I lived closer. Breakfast is my favorite meal and the main reason I go out to a restaurant is to eat something I won't prepare at home. I'm sorry to say that I was very disappointed at Nellie's this morning. We were promptly seated, friendly staff, and a bottomless cup of coffee. There is an extensive breakfast selection. However, I ordered one of my favorites: Classic Eggs Benedict. My companion ordered the Bananas Foster French Toast. His dish came (loaded with whipped cream on top). He scraped it off and enjoyed this sweet, sticky concoction. Some may like runny eggs....I don't! In fact, the sight of a runny yoke almost nauseates me. So I always tell the waiter I need my eggs poached hard. Twice my dish came out with runny yokes, and twice the waitress apologized profusely. In the meantime, my companion was almost finished with his breakfast and I had had 4 cups of coffee. To make this long story short....on the third try she came back with scrambled eggs on top of a small piece of ham and English muffin with a little bit of Hollandaise sauce. The hash browns I had requested as "crispy" where slightly brown. When the check came, we fully expected for my meal to be comped because of the long wait, and wrong order.....it wasn't!
