I had been craving Indian food for weeks and decided on a rainy Friday evening around 11 that I needed some butter chicken. I searched for the closets restaurant that was also opened on Yelp because that's a great feature, and found Nepal House. They have a banner on their site advertising their new extended hours of 11am til 1am. I was a little skeptical but figured it's hard to get Indian food wrong . . . They had a combo which came with your choice of specialty chicken, veggie samosa and naan. I opted for the butter chicken spicy level and garlic naan for an indulgent late-night meal before going home. That's the kind of comfort I didn't know I actually needed all week. I tried to order online but was having some trouble so called in for pickup. To their surprise, I was already outside, so when I was informed to arrive soon, I replied I was already outside. I went in after the 15 minutes my food was promised in and had to wait for a bit. I tried to make small talk with the young lady at the register but she seemed a little flustered for some reason. There was a couple seated in the main dining area but the bar was closed off. Ideally, I'd sit at the bar when I'm dining alone so I asked how busy the bar usually is and was informed it is usually packed. I didn't believe that at all because there were no signs of being used anytime in the near past at all. But ok. I continued to look around and noted the dated decor that was still rich in culture. My food was done and I paid. I've notice for some reason restaurants just hand you an amount on a machine and ask for you to pay. I asked for my receipt to ensure I wasn't being overcharged for anything and again she seemed flustered. She gave me the POS and said something, so I asked again but this time I asked to see what I was charged for. She then printed me a receipt and I waited to pay. Don't know what that was about but ok. Grabbed my food and walked fast to my car. I noticed a lot of people on that street either standing around or going in and out of businesses. I locked my door and proceeded to open my brown paper bagged late night dinner. First, I tried the veggie samosa which was steaming hot with very subtle flavors. I remembered asking if it came with sauce and was informed it did, so grabbed it out of the bag and dipped. It gave the samosa some more flavor but after seeing the dull green pea, I put it down and grabbed a piece of naan. It also lacked in flavor, and I couldn't taste any garlic. I opened my container with butter chicken and immediately dipped the naan in, like any good person would do. So hot, flavorful, creamy, seasoned, everything I needed at that moment. I would have jumped for joy but just grabbed the fork and went for a piece of chicken which was tender and I couldn't tell if it was a breast or thigh. So that meant if it was a breast, it wasn't dry but if it was a thigh, it wasn't juicy either. I was ok with the in between for the night. I didn't want to eat the rice but decided to indulge and scooped some onto my fork and then grabbed a piece of sauced chicken and quickly scarfed it down. I drove home and passed out in my parking space . . . . don't judge, mind your business. If you haven't passed out in your car after a good meal then are you really living? No, you're not. I'd go back for a late night meal if I'm in the area or if they are on my way back home again.

I haven't had curry for about year now. I was craving it, but I didn't know where to go. My perfect girlfriend recommended us to try Nepal House. She goes here often with her friends and they rated it 5/5 stars. And I totally agree!!! The chai was delicious the chicken got the perfect umphhhh and the bread naan and everything about Nepal house was amazing. The Tikka Masala slapped so hard I ate so much to the point I couldn't stand. I was groaning and my girlfriend made fun of me cause I was slumped over with so much food in my stomach. Nevertheless, I had a blast. I appreciated the servers and I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. Unfortunately, I could not try everything on the buffet cause I was stuffed. I'm coming back next weekend!!

We shared the Nepal House Feast, which is a platter for two that has a little bit of everything. It was fabulous. The tandoori chicken was flavorful and juicy, the curries were balanced and spiced, and the naan was toasty. The little trio of sauces was also excellent. All in all this was a great and very affordable mid-week dinner. I am now dying to go back for the lunch buffet.

This is one of my favorite spots! Service is always prompt, the food is fresh and full of earthy, fresh, developed flavors. I love their remodel with a big window and the interior is perfect for both causal hangs but also celebratory nights like birthdays, anniversaries, parties, etc. The bar seating is cute too. Menu is expansive and I love coming here with my friends that do and do not eat meat! They all love, love, love the food! Tip: order to share so everyone can taste a bunch of the menu! Easily my favorite spot for Indian/Nepalesian food in the neighborhood and has been since 2014 when I first moved to Baltimore. They're always so nice and dining in the service is reliably great.

After running in the baltimore running festival with some friends. we stumbled into this establishment craving unlimited indian food. and this place delivered! the interior is nicely decorated with nice table clothes, nice cutlery, and a great ambiance. service was fast and respectful even for just being a lunch buffet which i was surprised about. food was pretty good as well! we went right when they opened so things were really fresh but the tandoori chicken was my favorite with how juicy and flavorful it was. also the pumpkin/squash dessert was a major hit for me. at roughly 20 dollars a person this was a major deal that i'm very content with.

Every time I come to Baltimore, my sister and I HAVE to make a pit stop at Nepal House. We come here so often that im sure the waiters recognize us by now. It's basically $16 per person to eat a full-on buffet with the most delicious selections of food. We love mixing the sugar/non sugar Masala chai teas together to create the perfect sweetness. The rice pudding is our favorite dessert and the Samosas are very yummy. I especially like the spinach paneer and the chicken tikka masala. The interior is beautifully decorated and the atmosphere is cozy/chill. I highly recommend this restaurant, looking forward to coming back!

Excellent food! Everything was so tasty and the veggie momo's were some of the best I've ever had! The fish curry was a bit oily but the fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned. We also tried the malai kofta which was so good. And of course can't forget the garlic naan which was also good. The service was incredible - the food came out quick and everyone was so nice and polite. Def would recommend!

Dal Tadka & Matar Mutter Mushroom I ordered : This is the worst ever dal tadka and Matar mushroom ever I tried, it was so bad that I just asked for the check and left the food as it is - only one spoon tasted. Avoid this place at all cost for Indian cuisines.

This is more like 3.5 due to recent experiences I've had while ordering on delivery apps. This spot has quality Indian food, but I have been disappointed in the quantity provided as of late, especially with the increase in pricing. GLOWS: - Tandoori chicken is quite delicious, some of my favorite. - They do offer a lunch buffet (I have not been yet) , but it seems like the better bang for your buck. GROWS: - Small portions of chicken provided in the chicken tikka marsala (maybe 8 cubes of chicken) -As with many Indian restaurants currently , the entree prices have gotten entirely too expensive. Entrees are almost $20 , not much of the main dish is given, but loads of rice are provided.

A popular Indian buffet restaurant in the area. I was recommended by a local to come here from a Reddit forum. The parking situation in this area is a little tough but doable if you pay to park. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and was promptly greeted upon entering. The first thing that stuck out was that the interior was really hot. After 10 minutes we were sweating(~85F), the waitress said the AC was broken and there was nothing they could do. We then moved to another table by a large fan which was drastically better. The choices were a bit limited, the only protein is chicken. All the dishes are on the bland side and all the chicken was dry. However they have a good selection of sauces. The chai was excellent. The restaurant had a raised floor panel which my wife unfortunately tripped on. Told the staff but no action was taken. Service was pretty good, water refilled, plates taken away attentively.

I'm being generous with this rating. In fact, would have considered giving 3.5 stars. Ok, so this place is known for buffet. The buffet menu starts off very well from the time you pick up the plate and hover on to appetizer section. Samosa, chicken appetizer, dosa(when you get it hot/ freshly cooked) are really good. As you move on to main course, there's nothing so special about it. It's just average. Their in house curry and dal are good most of the time and that would be your safest bet. Biriyani is avg+. Chicken curry, noodles can be avoided (believe me, you won't regret). Also, I'm never a fan of tandoori chicken at this restaurant. Mostly because it's not well marinated and it's like 85-90% cooked- I hate uncooked meat. Dessert menu changes from time to time but generally, you won't be disappointed by at least one of the two dessert items. Special tea is good- give it a try. I can go to this place just for appetizer( dal, in house curry, dessert, tea are a bonus). And that's the reason for 3 star. read more

I have ordered delivery and gone to the lunch buffet many times here. Delivery can take around an hour, but that is expected. The portions are large, and they give a generous portion of rice. The lunch buffet has a fairly big selection of options, but it seems to be the same every time I go. Most of the food is pretty standard and there are better options elsewhere. However, if you like chicken tikka masala, come here because it is the best! read more

OMG, finally a place that delivers great Nepalese food. I have found since moving here all biryani dishes are very sub-par. Tonight we ordered shrimp biryani, chicken tikka masala, and shrimp pakora. All was sensational. They were not stingy with the shrimp either. The chicken was of very good quality. I hope this place nothing but the best and can't wait to reorder very soon. The gentleman that delivered was very nice and humble. I highly recommend this establishment to all. Thank you very much!!!! read more

Nepal House is one of my favorite restaurants in Baltimore! I always get the Shahi Paneer with a side of Garlic Naan, and it always comes out perfect. The staff is wonderful especially Kabita. I come here so much that she knows me by name lol. The food, flavor and service can't be beat. It's addicting. If you're looking for a go to Nepalese/Indian spot, this is the one. Love it!!! read more

This is the best chicken tikka masala in Baltimore. I have gone to the lunch buffet and gotten delivery countless times and they have never disappointed. The lunch buffet lasts for a while and is $10, and it is the best lunch buffet that exists in this region. The selection is varied, and everything tastes so good. I especially love the tandoori chicken and the chicken tikka masala. The owners are very kind and attentive, and service has always been good here. If you have tried a bunch of Indian cuisine places in Baltimore searching for the right one like I have, then come to Nepal House so you can stop wasting your time. read more

I've been slowly making my way through the trio of nepalese/indian restaurants on this street. I would say they are about the same. We went here for buffet and I wasn't entirely impressed but it was pretty average. Nothing out of ordinary except I liked the tiny samosas, pakora and papadum. I'm a fan of the papadum so I sat there and munched on those pretty much 3/4 of the time until they ran out. Man did I regret that after taking a walk around the block! Service was nice. Food was regular. No big deal. I'll probably be back when I make another round of the trio restaurants. read more

My wife and I really like this place and order delivery from it more than anywhere else. We've been in person a few times, too, and always been very pleased. Service is always friendly; honestly, I can't remember how prompt/attentive it's been. The food has always been good to great. Definitely my favorite and go-to spot whenever I crave some good Nepalese/Indian food. I've given similar restaurants in the area 5-stars, but I would give this one 6-stars if I could. Everything from the atmosphere inside the restaurant, the customer service, and food is absolutely amazing. I've even ordered online through Yelp a few times and my orders have always been ready on time. Not only that, all of my carry-out purchases from them have always been properly sealed and bagged. Nothing ever leaks on my seats and my food always stays super hot as if I was dining inside. Make Nepal House your favorite! read more

I was having a craving for some good Indian food, but most of the time it's hit or miss at some of these places. Nepal Houses exceeded all of my expectations. The portions were generous and we were able to order this through Order Up, which was very convenient. My boyfriend and I each got our own chicken tikka massala and split garlic naan. I enjoyed it so much and was even able to save the rest for lunch the next day. Double win! I will for sure be back and have been recommending this place to my friends left and right! read more

I think I got Chicken Biryani from Nepal House. I went here in Spring of 15'. I remember the food being about average. I am not sure what "authentic" Nepalese food is, but I didn't see a big difference from Indian food, at least from the menu and from the foods that my friend and I tried. read more

have ordered delivery here many times, always loved it, and never left a review. after a recent very bad experience at another local place serving similar dishes, I wanted to take a minute to praise Nepal House. I usually order the baighan bartha or a saag dish, raita, garlic naan, and if I'm very hungry a lassi as well. all are very good. if I'm ordering with others we split the momo, which are great. delivery always comes quickly. i'll never cheat on them again. read more

You can tell that this is a family restaurant, with at least one of the owners always there on the weekend. Come early for the buffet, so everything is nice and hot. Also, if there is no naan on the buffet, don't despair, there is waiter walking around with a fresh batch, so keep your eyes peeled! read more

I was super excited when I learned that this place was associated with Himalayan House on Fort Ave (HH was my favorite delivery place when I lived in SoBo but sadly does not deliver to Mt. Vernon). I ordered delivery for the first time last night from this business. I can ecstatically say that Nepal House is my new go-to delivery place! (5/11/2015) Went with coworkers for the lunch buffet. The dining rooms seems much more open than I remember from the Mughal Garden days. The buffet was freshly stocked. Except for the now standard nods to the expected Indian buffet dishes, Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer, Korma, other curry and stew dishes were unfamiliar (but not in a bad way). Some interesting vegetable options that seemed rather plain but very fresh: steamed summer vegetables, sauteed mustard greens. Vegetable Samosas always a hit and not often on a buffet line, these were plump with potato and peas and peppery. The fried noodles, displaying their Chinese (by way of Tibet) origins, were very much like a fresh, crisp veggie chow mein. Service was very friendly and unobtrusive (to the point where they saw us continuing our conversation and didn't want to interrupt with the check, so I went and got it). Place was clean and very roomy. Looking forward to trying more traditional Nepali dishes on another occasion. Also secretly hoping for a surprise serenade by the owner, Prem Raja Mahat (the Bob Dylan of Katmandu)! read more

I ordered delivery, was told to allow for 60-70 minutes. It arrived 96 minutes later. The delivery driver was apologetic (but I noticed he didn't offer to give me change for my order, so he pocketed at 20%+ tip), and swore it would never happen again. I might go into the restaurant to eat but as for online ordering for delivery....uh, no. Good food, though. read more

I was here the previous week, and came back this week - it's that good! The weekend buffet is $12, and has a crazy selection: chicken tikka masala, lamb curry, palak paneer (with real paneer!), veggie biryani, chinese noodles, masala dosa, tandoori chicken, and more! And the sides: samosas, papadums, naan, salad, rice pudding, chai tea (both sweetened and unsweetened).. seriously amazing selection. And the taste was complex and flavorful. The chai tea was fragrant with cardamom.. the tandoori chicken was smokey, flavorful, and had a hint of lemon. Tikka masala was creamy and had rich overtones of tomato and garam masala. They're Nepalese, which means it is like an Indian buffet plus a touch of Chinese (Nepal borders those two countries and has culinary influences from both). read more

I was walking past The Nepal House when it was under construction, and the owner invited me to the grand opening. The food was so good that I've been back every week since! A great option for vegetarians, even those who aren't crazy about spicy stuff. The lunch buffet is well-stocked and well-priced at $10 (including chai and a dessert option). The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is clean and comfortable. I highly recommend it for either dining in or delivery! read more

Food quality was outstanding as was the service. My friend and I had a bunch of vegetarian dishes, Indian and Nepalese, and we kept making faces at each other, everything tasted so good. When we were full, we asked to take the dishes home. The older gentleman brought take-out boxes and very carefully scooped each dish into the boxes, taking care to separate the flavors, and he even brought us more rice to enjoy with the vegetables. We chatted with him and told him we would be back as I live around the corner. He was extremely gracious, and for sure I will be going back frequently once I am back in the country. read more

This is one of our favorite restaurants in Baltimore, probably the only place to get authentic nepali food in the area. What I love most about this place is that the owner is super friendly and treats everyone as if they are a part of his family! We ordered the seekh kabob, goat curry, and momo. Established in 2014.

Prem Raja Mahat, honorary consul of Nepal and internationally renowned musician, opened Nepal House with his wife Kabita in December 2014. Mahat hopes Nepal House will play a central part in his role as honorary consul general. He wants to Nepal House to be a center for Nepalese culture, music, and food. It serves as a meeting place for the local Nepalese community, as well as for those who want to visit his homeland. "A lot of people who want to go to Nepal can come here and I can give them information about where to go and where to stay and what to do," Mahat says. "All friends of Nepal, I want to invite all the people here." He explains that the United States, and specifically the Mid-Atlantic, boasts the third largest population of tourists who visit Nepal in the world. "That's why if they know Nepal House is here, they can come and ask questions," he says.

My friends and I visited Nepal House Indian Restaurant for the Saturday lunch buffet. The buffet offered a decent variety, with goat curry being a standout option. However, nothing was particularly memorable. The mono chicken dumpling soup was overly salty, and the paneer saag, usually a favorite of mine, didn't hit the mark. The tandoori chicken seemed to use low-quality chicken, as it easily fell apart. While the naan wasn't great, I did enjoy the fried bread, though I can't recall its name. Well recommended by a few locals AND regulars, this place lived up to all the hype. The staff is absolutely friendly and welcoming. The food is delicious, fresh and reasonably priced. I was able to get a good view of the kitchen staff and they put a lot of car into each meal. Great food for a bar for sure! I'd love to visit again when in the Baltimore area. Try their refreshing Orange Crush, it is made with freshly squeezed orange juice and it is made to order. They have a great beer craft beer selection as well. A little spicy but if you are used to having Indian spicy, I would say the spice level here is medium. Service was good also and prices are reasonable. The food was excellent, and our service was excellent, especially considering how busy they were. Because parking is limited, expect to have to park on the street, where finding a spot can be difficult. Food that is always fresh and delicious. The service was excellent, and the staff was quite pleasant. Chicken Tikka Masala, lamb Curry, Vegetable Samosas, and any sort of naan are all favorites. read more

I loved everything about this place. As soon as I walked in the door one of the owners greeted me with a big friendly smile, and it only went up from there. We had veg pakoras for apetizers and for the meal I had a chicken kabob and my friend had a chicken vindaloo. The food and service were as good as it gets. Nepal House is a must try in my opinion. read more

This was my first time here and I enjoyed the experience. The dishes were loaded with flavor and spicy but so delicious. I liked the different Indian-inspired menu they had, much better than other Indian places that I've been to before. We went for dinner and had the Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Biryani. Those are probably some of the most popular indian dishes and I have tried it in many other restaurants, but Nepal House is up there at the top of my list. Couple the fantastic food with the excellent service, I will definitely be going back. read more
