Nothing like a great burger that comes from a trailer next to a gas station. This is one of those ideal locations where groups of motor cyclers stop for a break during the ride. I've seen this place several times and finally braved the line today for what was an outstanding Turkey Burger and from what I sampled from my kids Nessy Burgers those were impressive as well. Ok, like most people who live near Nessy, we too would drive by and watch and wonder what the heck was going on over there. Always a line of people. Probably drove by about a hundred times at least and said "one of these days we need to stop there and see what we are missing". Sooo we finally stopped! Here are some of the pros and cons I experienced. The food is pretty good. We shared a Nessy Burger and a french fry to go (to eat in the car since there were no empty seats outside. Plus there were about a thousand bees swarming around tables and garbage cans. I would recommend to the owner getting some covered cans. I have read a handful of reviews and a few others mention the bees. Also I have a feeling the owner is not present, and they may lack a bit of management. I say this for a few reasons, which I will get to in a moment. So back to the food. But first I have to say it was kind of a whirlwind kind of experience so I will try not to ramble. The food was good like I said. I LOVE their fries, the krinkle kind, with their house secret sauce, which is the thousand island sort. My only gripe with their fries, which of course is sacrilege, is they DO NOT salt their fries. Big mistake. You have to salt fries when they wet with hot oil. Anyways I ran back to the counter and asked for a couple packets of salt......NO packets of salt...they do not offer/buy/sell salt packets to there customers and their fries....OK....So I improvise and shake some salt in a little plastic cup and run back to the car and pinch the fries. Perfect! The next thing is their burger. So it looked like if you order it for "here" then they serve it "open face" and you dress it, if you take it "to go" they dress it. The burger tastes really good to me, but my honey does not like their "proprietary meat patty" at all. In fact she says "I never need to go back, and I would give them one star". I on the other hand like it. It is, like everyone else says, kind of a mystery patty. If you go to the Nessy web site they will tell you "No Fillers". HMMMM. Well if you say so. It is kinda meat loaf like, sort of. It is big and fed the two of us. So with a can of Coke, the Nessy Burger, and the fries we were pretty stuffed. The wait at noon time was not at all bad. I think we just got lucky, because we waited only a couple minutes. The seating is limited, and no shade. There is a flow to things, which was awkward for me being a new customer. No pickles is kinda strange too. I mean pickles are really cheap, along with salt. No ketchup packets. You have to squirt in little cups your condiments, which are right up front where everyone is hovering. I would suggest they move the little condiment station to the side. Nessy's always has a crowd. You get a BIG basic grilled burger here. It is certainly eatable, but simply nothing all that special. I personally think it is overrated...but I (also) don't like In 'n Out...which is almost 'un-Californian'. It's just a roadside stand...we're talking picnic tables. A lot of people rave about Nessy Burgers. And I'll tell you they have a pretty good burger. The best no....but up there. I'd say a 7 out of 10. Quite a few reviews base these rating on customer service. It's a quicky burger shop people. Go up to the window. Order ur burger, pay and move to the side. It's that simple. Don't ask about what oils they use or if they cook the chicken on the same grill as the burgers. Go somewhere else or cook at home. Now onto the burger. I asked for medium rare and it came out med but was juicy. It's more of a homemade kind of meatloaf burger momma used to make. Not a bad thing. Bun was fresh and soft. The things that could have made it better is cheese other then American cheese...just thrown on top. Use of Iceberg lettuce cut into huge chunks that made it hard to eat. To thick cut of onion. Other then that I went away happy. $7.95 for a burger in today's market is not a bad price at all considering a lot of places charge $15+ for a burger. Though they do tend to use higher quality ingredients. Order a Nessy burger. Ask for medium rare, get ur burger before the guy that was in front of you in the line. read more

My husband is commuter Ken so I'm lucky enough to be able to get a Nessy burger ever so often on his way home from work. Nessy's is one of my absolute favorite burgers! I order mine with bacon and a fried egg the "Trucker" oh yeah try it if you dare! I can't have it all the time obviously and when I do the hubby knows to tell them to cut it in half cause I can't eat the entire burger they're HUGE! The crinkle fries are good too but most of the time they're all gone the hubby eats them in the car. I would have to say the burgers can run high after adding bacon, egg and whatever else by then it's over being a $6 burger but definitely worth it IMO! read more

I had wanted to try nessy's for a while and finally got up there to try it on my quest for the best burger In SD needless to say I am still looking. It was a good burger but not what I was hoping for. I grew up on the central coast by Santa Barbara and there was this hamburger stand out at this secluded beach called Jalama and the burgers here were worth the drive on a small winding road you had to take to get there. Ate here last week after having driven by once & saw a long line of customers. Saw on Yelp that it has rave reviews, so my family decided to give it a try. The burgers are big and juicy, but I'd rather have In-N- Out or Five Guys. The chili cheese fries weren't great. The nachos seemed so ordinary. Good freaking burger! Classic style, not trendy style, so I am judging based on that. I had been hearing raving reviews about Nessy Burger from North County locals for several years. I finally came out to try one of these famous burgers. Perhaps it was the hype everyone gave this place that left my expectations somewhat high and possibly unreasonable but I didn't think these burgers were anything particularly awesome from what I had been told. If you want a burger that imitates your backyard BBQ at home then this is the place. They are large burgers that are simply 'normal' but I wouldn't say rush out to Nessy because they are anything unique or special or outstanding tasting. I drove a half hour to try it out and glad I did. The service was up to par and it was definitely decent but not more than 2 star worthy. If you're a local, this is an option for lunch. Fries were whatever, obviously not fresh cut; at least they were freshly cooked and hot. It's a roadside dive. Huge burger and huge fries. Hot tip is buy a messy burger and fries and split both. But of course if your a huge dude you can grind it all by yourself. The burger was good, but is not better than an double double at In n Out. This burger is a big extra thick patty with 1 slice of Kraft style cheese slice, You know the cheese slices in that plastic wrap. Where as In n Out uses two small patties and two slices of real cheddar cheese. It's a big beefy burger and is good. Pretty good out of the way place to get a very good burger and PLENTY of fries...! Heard about this place from a co-worker, who invited us out to lunch... we got there on Sunday before noon - and was LUCKY (I mean LUCKY) to get to the front area to order grub before the lunch rush - and was able to get a table to boot.
