I'm a first-time pet owner, and this was my first time having my dog go under anesthesia. I know these are very standard procedures, but I was extremely nervous about all of it. During the initial exam, Dr. Gordon discovered a bladder stone as well. He clearly explained the treatment options and made thoughtful recommendations for next steps. After the exam, he personally emailed the lab and bloodwork results and answered all my follow-up questions quickly and kindly. The surgery itself went very smoothly. Dr. Gordon and his team gave clear instructions for after-care. At the end of the procedure day, Dr. Gordon emailed to check in on my dog, and he checked in again a couple of days later. I sent him updates and photos of the incision site, and he responded each time with helpful feedback. I also sent updates on day 5 (when we finished post-op medications) and again on day 10. He reviewed the photos and provided his insights. My dog's recovery was overall very smooth, and as of day 10, he has been cleared of the donut! It was far beyond my expectations for Dr. Gordon to provide so much personal follow-up outside of our clinic visits. He genuinely cared about how my dog was doing, and I'm very grateful for that level of care. Additional details: - Parking: Free parking available; the clinic is up a flight of stairs. - Check-in/Wait Time: Both our exam and surgery check-ins were quick and the wait time was minimal. - Communication: Communication with the front desk was clear and easy via email, text, and phone. - Clinic: The space is very nice and clean. - Wi-Fi: They have guest Wi-Fi, which was helpful as my cell service wasn't great in the area. - Cost: Prices are on the higher end, but I feel it's completely worth it for the attentive care and peace of mind. - Staff: The front office staff and nurses were all kind and helpful. I'm an anxious person, and they were so patient with me, which I really appreciate! My dog is skeptical of new people but can be won over with treats, and the staff offered him treats with my permission to help him feel comfortable. When Cory first became ill, he couldn't walk and another emergency veterinary hospital had recommended surgery after what we later learned was an incorrect diagnosis. Thanks to Dr. Robles' expertise, she identified the underlying cause, prescribed the appropriate treatment, and gave us hope. With her care and treatment plan, Cory regained his ability to walk, and we were able to avoid unnecessary surgery. My experience here has been nothing short of amazing. The entire staff is incredibly kind, compassionate, and supportive, especially toward my 11-year-old senior Chihuahua, Cory. Whenever I have questions about his medications, refills, or follow-up care, everyone is always patient, responsive, and genuinely willing to help. I have yet to find another veterinary office that provides this level of care and communication. At today's follow-up appointment, I was worried that Cory's spinal infection had returned because he had become weaker and his mobility had declined. After a thorough examination, the team discovered a lump near his mouth and recommended that I follow up with his primary veterinarian, as it may be contributing to his decreased appetite. PET OWNERS BEWARE…read more My experience with Dr. Hanson was extremely disappointing and frustrating. I brought my dog, Cobra, to him seeking answers for a neurological condition that limits his physical abilities. I trusted that taking him to a neurological specialist would finally give me some answers and, hopefully, a way to improve his quality of life. We went through physical evaluations, X-rays, an MRI, additional diagnostic testing, and multiple medications. After spending approximately $5,000, I was ultimately left with essentially the same unanswered question I had when I walked through the door: What is actually wrong with my dog, and is there anything we can do to help him? Unfortunately, none of the treatment improved Cobra's condition. In fact, some of the medications appeared to make him worse. After everything we had already done, I was later presented with the possibility of performing still more testing for other potential conditions. At that point, I couldn't justify continuing to put my dog through additional testing and spending even more money when I still had no clear path toward actually improving his quality of life. Given the amount of money I had spent without receiving a definitive diagnosis or seeing any improvement, I contacted Dr. Hanson and requested a good-faith refund, or at minimum a substantial partial refund. I explained my concerns and why I didn't believe continuing down the road of additional testing made sense for Cobra. Dr. Hanson never responded to my last email. I understand that veterinary medicine is not an exact science and that no doctor can guarantee a diagnosis or successful treatment. I never expected a guarantee. But after approximately $5,000 in specialist care, X-rays, an MRI, diagnostic testing, and medications, I certainly expected to come away with more answers--or at least some meaningful improvement in my dog's condition. Instead, I'm approximately $5,000 poorer, Cobra's condition has not improved, and I still don't have an answer as to what is actually causing his neurological problems. I sought out a neurological specialist because I believed that was my best chance of helping my dog. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Dr. Hanson. Before committing to thousands of dollars in diagnostic testing and treatment, I strongly encourage other pet owners to ask very specific questions about what each test is expected to accomplish, whether the result will actually change the treatment plan, and what realistic benefit it may provide your pet. Approximately $5,000 later, I still have the same dog with the same neurological problems and no definitive answers.
