Over the course of a couple of years, I've encountered multiple incidents that seem to point to deliberate sabotage of my heating and cooling system. I also have PROOF in my pictures. I'm somewhat handy, and if I was not, I would have been taken advantage of even more. Here's my story: **Incident 1:** It all started when my AC unit broke down during a heatwave. I had a newborn at home, so I needed help fast. Despite being on the pricier side ($500 for the visit), they were the only ones available quickly. The technician "fixed" the issue and tried hard to sell me a brand-new unit--despite the fact that my current one was still functioning. I brushed it off as a sales tactic. However, when the weather turned cold, I realized my **heat wasn't working**. I'm a bit handy, so I took a panel off to inspect the unit, and what do I find? The **gas line had been turned off at the panel**! It's important to note that the heater worked just fine before this service, so the only possible culprit was the technician. Had I not caught this myself, I would have likely been convinced that the entire system needed replacing--costing me even more money. **Incident 2:** Later, I did end up getting a new HVAC system (from a different company). However, my diverters (which control airflow) stopped working, blowing a fuse. Once again, no one else was available, so I had to call Alborz again. I was skeptical after last time, but thought maybe it was possibly an accident... This time, I was on high alert and watched him closely. He fiddled around and had me go check the thermostat downstairs while he "worked on the unit." Reluctantly, I complied. Sure enough, when summer arrived, **the AC stopped working again**. **Proof of Sabotage:** After some investigation, I discovered the technician **deliberately disconnected a wire** in my unit, which is why the AC wasn't working. I have photographic proof showing the disconnected wire and the work area, demonstrating this malicious action. --- **Final Warning:** It's clear to me this company has a pattern of **sabotaging equipment to generate more business**. These aren't simple mistakes; they're calculated actions designed to mislead homeowners into believing their systems need more work or replacement than is necessary. We used Cooling Unlimited to install our heat pumps…read more 1) Cooling Unlimited submitted our Mass Save paperwork incorrectly. After agreeing to complete paperwork for a whole-home rebate, they submitted it as a partial rebate. They were unable to secure our full rebate. After we contacted Mass Save directly, we recovered the full rebate. 2) After the installation, our upstairs heat pump was not operating properly. Cooling Unlimited came out multiple times to inspect the unit and told us it was working adequately. Only after I showed them that the temperature coming out of the upstairs unit was not appropriate did they agree there was an issue. They told us they contacted the manufacturer and ultimately fixed what they described as an issue with the unit. 3) Our upstairs thermostat did not operate correctly after installation. Cooling Unlimited replaced it, but the replacement thermostat still does not measure the temperature correctly. 4) Cooling Unlimited installed a glycol feeder and heat exchanger. Our oil company later told us that the heat exchanger was undersized. We asked Cooling Unlimited to come out and inspect the heat exchanger. Cooling Unlimited then told us they had sent someone from Bosch to our house to inspect the heat exchanger, and that the Bosch technician said it was fine. 5) After all of this, I called Bosch directly. Bosch told me they had no record that Cooling Unlimited had registered our units them and that they had never been contacted from Cooling Unlimited about our units. This made it unclear who Cooling Unlimited had actually contacted when they said they had spoken with the manufacturer. 6) Cooling Unlimited installed incorrectly sized filters in our air handlers and had cut the filters with scissors to make them fit. 7) Cooling Unlimited is now refusing to honor our service contract. We signed a three-year service contract that included annual service. We did not receive service from them in the fall, and they are now saying we cannot receive our annual service because it is spring.

This made communicating with them extremely difficult the entire time. The morning they were supposed to arrive at 9 am so I took the day off from work. They didn't show up until several hours later with no communication regarding that. The man who serviced our heater had never seen our type of system before. He tinkered with it for a couple hours and finally "fixed" it. A few days later we were without heat. We called them several times, leaving them a message, but they did not get back to us. We were about to hire someone else to come, but the next morning they finally said they would come take a look, free of charge. The man came back and ended up replacing a part. We got an invoice in the mail for that part despite the free of charge promise. Shortly after that our heater broke again so we ended up calling a different company. After their last visit and the previous invoice for the part, we received ANOTHER invoice in the mail for a much larger charge than the previous. We reached out to Chambers several times trying to figure out what that invoice was for, as their last visit was free of charge. To this day we have not heard back from them even after writing them a letter to remind them of what happened. They continue to send us delinquent payment invoices and will not respond to us when we reach out to them.

Last year they warned us that our refrigerant was obsolete, and if anything major failed, we'd need to replace the entire system (coil + pan + outdoor unit). Their estimate was around $15k, which is a huge, life-changing expense for most households. The breaking point came when they quoted $1k just to replace a kitchen faucet. We ended up doing it ourselves. On top of that, yearly maintenance and repairs were consistently costing us $500+. When our AC started leaking (caught by Ring sensors), I had to look for alternatives. I had tried before but hadn't found anyone reliable, so I gave Thumbtack another shot despite past poor experiences--many vendors talked a lot, quoted high, and didn't seem focused on actually solving the problem. Some even lacked proper licensing. That's when I found Noble. They handle plumbing, duct cleaning, and HVAC. Their $89 visit fee was more reasonable than others. Ultimately, the only reliable fix was replacing the coil + pan and the outdoor unit. Their quote was less than half of Heritage's $15k estimate, which made the project feasible. We also bundled additional work at discounted rates: Duct cleaning Brush motor cleaning (had never been done before) Mini-split maintenance HVAC maintenance twice a year for two years A temporary window AC unit provided while waiting for parts I initially considered buying the equipment myself, but they explained that doing so would void the warranty, which I appreciated. Since they're a smaller company, I was cautious about making such a large payment. They addressed this by providing ID, company registration details (which I verified through the MA corporate database), and accepting credit card payments for added protection. The equipment arrived on schedule within two days. On installation day, they first completed a thorough duct cleaning using a vacuum system, brushes, and cameras, and shared before-and-after photos. There was a noticeable amount of buildup, so this was valuable. The HVAC installation itself was complex since our furnace is about 10 years old while the new AC system is modern. They even sourced an additional control board the same day to make everything compatible. Despite the long day (about 8 AM to 8 PM), they completed the work and also cleaned the blower motor as promised. The new system is significantly quieter and more efficient. They later returned to fine-tune the system when the weather was warmer and also completed the mini-split maintenance--nothing was forgotten. Overall, they handled a complicated job professionally, communicated clearly, and delivered exactly what they promised. While this was still a significant expense, we were able to address multiple overdue issues at once. I would highly recommend them for HVAC work and plan to use them going forward for plumbing and maintenance (faucets, water heater flush, filtration systems, etc.). They may seem young at first, but they are reliable, transparent, and capable. You can trust them to follow through and do the job right.
