They have 2 offices on the same floor in the same building (both with signs that say "Wellish Abrams") and after checking in at the front desk we sat for an half hour but ten minutes past our appointment time someone called over from the other office and said I was in the wrong place and they had been searching all over for me assuming maybe I was stuck in the bathroom. It was quite a long time and lextensive process before we saw Dr Shah for about 3-5 minutes and he said I have a Vitreous Hemorrhage, it is very serious, and I need to see someone right away. I was referred to a retina specialist that was closed so I was told to call Desert Retina first thing the next day. The Wellish Abrams workers never faxed the referral with notes to Desert Retina so the operator at Desert Retina asked me to call Wellish Abrams and request they send the referral and notes. Wellish Abrams does not answer their phones, they employ an answering service which says they will try to get the request to Wellish Abrams within 24 hours. After 24 hours you must trust that the people who did not send the referral the first time will do it the next day. I do not understand why the process has to be such a circus, if you have an eye emergency why can't you go to one place and get all your medical needs accomplished? Southern Hills sent me to Wellish, which took 2 days, Wellish sent me to Desert Retina and didn't forward the referral and notes and meanwhile my eyeball is hemorrhaging. 3 doctors along the way stressed to me that my situation is an emergency and could result in blindness if not handled expeditiously.

We were referred here from Dr. Wickens at Retina Consultants, in an emergency type situation for a…read morecornea infection and sever scarring. We were referred to Dr. Alder. He has been incredible, kind, very thorough and up front every step of the way. Very detailed and answered all our questions and what to expect. Why there is no way to reverse the scarring, he was easily able to get the infection gone quick. We have regular appointments with Dr Alder to keep a close eye on the situation and have cornea checks. We were easily able to get a specialized eye glass prescription quickly to help him see. The doctor and his staff have gone above and beyond and taken such great care of us and we could not be more grateful. Dr Alder has continue to provide top notch service to his patients. The staff have been amazing to work with and very kind. They always provide a laugh to help ease the nerves. Scheduling through them has been a breeze. She can see clearly now and is very happy with the results. Be careful when searching for a doctor for any type of surgery. Some will have you sign away the ability to leave a negative review, which I found true with some of the other surgeons we initially considered. I found out through my cataract surgery experience that my husband's recommendation was richly deserved. Dr. Swanic is kind, patient, and remarkably thorough. He not only welcomes questions but takes the time to explain how the different lens options work and how each might affect distance, intermediate, and near vision. He is meticulous about the measurements and calculations, with the goal of giving each patient the best possible visual outcome and the greatest chance of freedom from glasses. I had cataract surgery on both eyes, using a different lens strategy for each. My left eye was corrected for distance with a toric lens, and I now have 20/20 distance vision. I had not realized how much my cataracts had diminished my sight until after surgery--the improvement in clarity, brightness, and overall quality of vision was astonishing. Truly! For my right eye, I chose the TECNIS PureSee lens, an impressive newer technology that provides excellent distance and intermediate vision, along with useful near vision. Because I have dry eyes, I wanted a lens that would allow plenty of light to enter without choosing a traditional multifocal design. The PureSee has exceeded my expectations. I can comfortably use my computer and read books, my phone, and smaller print without reading glasses. I honestly feel as though this lens gave me everything I had hoped for. Because I am prone to motion sickness, I was initially concerned that using one eye primarily for distance and the other to enhance intermediate and hopefully near vision might be difficult to tolerate. My adjustment was completely seamless from the very first day after surgery. I see clearly with both eyes, have experienced no problems, and absolutely love being free from prescription glasses and readers. The surgical center Dr. Swanic uses was excellent, and everyone there made the experience comfortable and reassuring. His office is equally pleasant, and his staff is consistently efficient, friendly, and professional. Cataract surgery is an enormously important decision because its results affect how you see every day. I am so glad I had it done in my early 60s and can enjoy this remarkable vision for years to come. I am deeply grateful to Dr. Swanic for his extraordinary skill, careful judgment, and commitment to achieving the best possible result.
