Huge Price Hikes, Shrinking Portions, and Missing Ingredients--Unacceptable Value! I have been a loyal customer of this diner for many years and have lost count of how many times I have eaten there in person or ordered delivery to my home and office. I also recommended this place to many friends and relatives, who then introduced it to others. In the past, the portions were exceptionally generous, the food was flavorful and high-quality, the service was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. Unfortunately, my recent delivery experiences have been drastically different. The Mediterranean Beeftiki used to be one of my favorite dishes. Previously it arrived as a very large portion, easily enough for at least 2 people, with 2 substantial, perfectly seasoned beef patties filled with generous cubes of flavorful Greek feta cheese and large pieces of fresh tomato. The tzatziki was included, and the dish was incredibly delicious and definitely felt worth ordering. This time, the $20.95 dish consisted mostly of generic, mediocre quality French fries and 2 small hamburger-sized patties. There was barely any feta cheese and almost no noticeable tomato. The portion was dramatically smaller than it used to be and was barely enough for 1 person. I also paid an additional $7 for extra tzatziki. The photo shows exactly how it arrived: in a small disposable cup filled only slightly over halfway. More importantly, the regular portion of tzatziki listed as part of the dish was not included at all. Had I not paid for the extra cup, the meal would have arrived without tzatziki. The food arrived warm, the pita was fresh, and the delivery person handled the order properly. However, the sharp decline in portion size, ingredients, and overall value is extremely disappointing! I completely understand that price increases happen across the board. What is impossible to accept is raising prices while simultaneously slashing portion sizes by up to 90% and cutting back on essential ingredients. Paying significantly more for a fraction of what was once provided leaves customers feeling completely ripped off. By running a business this way, the management is not just losing me--they are losing the massive network of people I personally brought to this restaurant, who in turn brought their own inner circles. Continuing down this path means losing hundreds of loyal customers over time. There are too many exceptional, authentic Greek and neighborhood establishments nearby that still respect their clientele by offering generous portions, top quality, excellent service, and fair value for hard-earned money. A great place for breakfast or lunch. My wife loves their French toast, and has long considered it the very best of the neighborhood. I had their chocolate chip pancakes and they are out of this world, far better than at IHOP. They have always made really good burgers and various sandwiches. Easy, no frills diner right near the Ave U subway station. Food is decent, but the portions are small considering an $18 meal. The juice cup you get is an outrageous disappointment. A tiny cup of juice is an insult to the special. The only reason it is a three star review and not a two star review is because the food was delivered quickly and it all tasted very fresh. My friend and I decided to meet up for dinner at 3 Star. Not too many people at this wonderful diner on a Wednesday night. Even though she didn't arrive yet, I got seated right away. We ended up ordering light meals because we were not as hungry as usual. The eggs benedict was so delicious and the blueberry cheesecake was amazing!! She really enjoyed her wrap, too. Food quality was less than average. The filet of sole did not taste fresh (I should have known better than to order fish on Sunday from a diner- my fault). The green beans accompanying the fish were completely mushy. The burger deluxe was typical diner fare - not great but not terrible. I haven't been to this spot in many years but figured I would try it again by ordering through Postmates as it's a snowy night. Highly unlikely that I will order from here again. read more

I heard the New 3 Stars Restaurant opening this week and decided to try it out. The restaurant took half of the old 3 stars restaurant. The menu in the front still say 3 stars restaurant but it doesn't have that much from before. The decor looks like the same from the old restaurant. The foods price was a little pricy. We usually order baked clam from the old restaurant but this time we didn't since only get 3. We just order our meal. I order beer and reef which has skirt steak, salmon and baked mushroom with clams. The salmon taste a little dry even with the lemon flavor. The stuffed mushroom with clams was ok. The skirt steak. One was medium rear but the other seems burn on the outside. If I go back there I will try something different. They don't have a liquor license so no wine yet. I was refused the original receipt upon purchase of foods . I was given a copy of the receipt by who I assume is the manager , a European complexion guy . Mirrors are all over the place , giving a cheap , unpleasant atmosphere with cameras popping out , showing you're always being recorded . This place is not worth your time , except if you order small to- go items . And even then , it's 20% overpriced . 8.35 for a half full container of broccoli and some garlic . A woman server came to the table and was rushing the order . I didn't have enough time to decide . When o made my order o asked for a burger with lettuce no bread . It was a production for her to understand what that was. I asked may I have a side salad with my order I will pay a little extra other diners have that option she didn't understand. The water glad was dirty . She didn't bring out my lemon Ice wasn't even an option . My pickle was forgotten about . I could not even find her to ask about it. Excellent, quality food. All elements of the main courses were fresh, containing quality ingredients. The meat was of high quality; the coffee was strong and dark -- as NYC coffee is always supposed to be -- and freshly brewed, served in a classic coffee mug on top of a saucer. The onion rings were fresh (something often hard to find); the cheese was fresh and well-melted; the French fries were cooked well and tasted nice. The pickles were fresh; the tomatoes were fresh; and the lettuce were fresh. (Two minor notes: The coleslaw could have used less mayonnaise. Perhaps extra mayonnaise was meant to be a substitute for the taste of freshness? And, second, the chickpeas were just fair.) Our waiter was pleasant and very helpful. The busboy was also attentive. Prices are reasonable and somewhat cheaper than the competition. My breakfasts here are consistently delicious. Parking in the area can sometimes be difficult, but the restaurant itself is a gem. Ate here with family about a month ago and again last night ( 07/22/2023). we used to go there thirty-five years ago. The restaurant was closed for quite a while, but reopened recently. The portions of the offerings are HUGE. Twice I ordered the shrimp and chicken francese over linguine and really, really liked it. The chocolate layer cake is delicious. The wait staff puts up with all kinds of requests, like, " separate checks." The assistants who bus tables and create take home ccontainers for left-overs are very efficient. Last night, I believe I saw and spoke to one of the owners. Friendly. I just hope that they can stay in business, being as generous as they are. I am writing because there was a wire or a piece of steel wool in my chocolate pudding with whipped cream today when I went there for lunch. It was smooth and absolutely delicious until I felt something in my mouth that definitely wasn't chocolate pudding or whipped cream. I took a picture of the chocolate pudding with the wire next to it. I couldn't believe it. I couldn't find the manager. I spoke to someone else who didn't seem to want to find the manager for me. He apologized and that was that. I complained elsewhere and was told that since I didn't persist there was nothing they would do about it. So much for my being honest. What a fantastic little restaurant!! They've got a menu the size of a bible, so pretty much any diner food you can think of is available for the 20-25 dollars range. The service made me feel like I was getting spoiled by an aunt who just found out I hadn't eaten. Portions were HUGE, at least for mine, I only had half and was excited to have the rest for leftovers. The inside is spacious and pleasant, perfect for family dinner. I definitely think they're having their friends and family post these reviews. What we were served was not worth the one star I gave. The chicken in my panini was so dry. My friends burger was overcooked and tasteless. Oasis and Perrys are much better in my opinion.
