So our go to Asian Store for grocery items and snacks. They seem to have a wide variety of crackers from quite a few different Asian countries. We try and get one or two each time to try something new. They have a whole wall of instant ramen and yakisoba items so a lot to choose from. Freezers and fridge area are packed with nice food items. And they seem to have fresh vegetables all the time. Parking is a little tight in front of the store but off to the side it's a little easier to park. read more

THEY HAVE CHINESE BITTER MELON, or Carala. No one else in the area has it for a reasonable price except New Asia. Fresh, crisp, mmmm! They have LAP CHEONG Sausage. They have utensils, woks, rice cookers, steamers, everything you need. It's quality, I've never gotten crap like I normally get in the grocery stores. i love this place. read more

They do have a great selection of decent priced food and snacks. The staff however is racist staff is why I gave them a low rating. Not all brown people steal nor are they degenerates. During my time at the store l've notice that they would speak with every customer that was lighter than me. They wouldn't say a word let alone look at me, but would be very helpful and chatty with the white customers. No one would help me checkout and when they did finally "hear me" after pretending not to. The woman who helps run the shop didn't even want to ring me up, she sent a young man to do it and while he rang up my groceries. The woman stood there with her arms crossed staring at me down while I paid. Acting as if I was going to steal something. To which I didnt and oddly I paid in full. No surprise there. With that being said anybody that's not white or can pass for white. Don't shop here. You'll be treated poorly even if you re respectable and don't cause any trouble. read more

New Asia market is an excellent stop for a variety of funky and hard to find items. The central portion of the store houses shelf stable items like canned fruits, sauces, certain noodles, and items like dried mushrooms. The left side of the store (when you're facing it) has a ton of delicious snack items like candies or shrimp crackers. You can fulfill any salty or sweet craving from this portion of the store and the prices are super good. In the back of the store you find all of the frozen items like seafood and mochi. It's also where they have a variety of fresh produce items. I particularly loved that they have Asian pears, baby bok choy, and giant carrots. The produce is fresh and priced incredibly low considering how hard it is to find some of the items at other stores. They have a 10 dollar credit card minimum so just go in and stock up on all the goodies. They really have some great items at this location. read more

Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF): The New Asian Market is a great stop in the Groton area for all your eastern cruisine needs! I stopped and looking for tofu which has become a rare commodity in the area since the COVID-19 outbreak. I was in luck because they had a variety of affordable tofu both refrigerated and shelf stable. There are many vegan options here if you're looking for them. I found some organic Miso paste, vegetable pot stickers, spring rolls, and sauces. If you are looking for fresh herbs, fruit, or vegetables, look no further. There are plenty here to choose from at affordable prices. They also have lots of dry goods, sauces, snacks, candy, and hard to find items. Next time you're in the area stop in. The only complaint I have is the size if the store and how many items there are to coose from. I spent way more time and money in there than I originally intened but left with two large bags if items. I guess that's not a bad thing to be complaining about. read more

I shop here at least once a week because of the quality, selection, and price. My must haves are the Mochiko rice flour (to make mochi), Shritaki yam noodles (a low carb and low calorie wet noodle), bok choi (a cancer fighting leafy veggie), and matcha green tea powder (to make green tea lattes at home). Prices are excellent for the quality of the fresh produce, rotating specialty baked goods, and selections of sauces and seasonings. I have been wanting to try their choices for frozen fish and other seafoods, but I haven't as of yet. On my last visit, they also had Manju in both Pandan and Ube flavors from a nearby city, which were flavorful and fresh. Negatives for this market are the staff, who have never been friendly on any of my many visits here, and the organization of some of their products. That said, this place is awesome, and hardly ever has other people shopping there when I am, so I have the whole place to myself. Ample parking outside makes this the place to shop for those experienced in Asian cooking, or for those wanting to bridge out of the norm and try something new. read more

I was looking for lo mien noodles the clerk was very helpful he suggested I use fresh rather then the dry ones . I purchased 4 bags . Plus the fact the prices are very reasonable. They had exactly what I needed and a whole lot more. Most of the things I had no idea what they were! This place didn't smell like a lot of other larger markets I've been to and although they are small they are packed to the rim with products including fresh vegetables. This little small oriental store is not all that bad. Although I've bought a few usless things here. A shredder that couldn't even shred my papaya... I wish this store was a little bigger and gave me the option to buy seafood. I can't really complain too much, because at the very least they have a lot of things that I would need to complete my meals. Although some of the selections aren't so great. I did discovered that they have bags of pulled noodles on Thursday to Sunday. Which I once in a while use for some of my dishes and no where else really carries it. I finally got to poke around in this little Asian grocery store on a day off. I was pretty excited about the different selections they had, but I found the price to be significantly higher than other places I frequent. I guess they don't have much competition so more power to them! The staff were very nice, said hello while restocking, smiled; I didn't feel like "the egg" since I have a tendency to not look Asian enough at times. I found some lovely chopsticks, a bag of assorted Japanese chocolates, and few other items like eggs and veggies I needed anyway. This is the only Asian market in Groton. There is another one in New London called Lee's market, which is a few miles away. The market stocks a lot of Korean foods and brands such as kimchi and Nongshim ramens. You pay a little higher than what you would pay at Korean markets such as H-mart but you should expect that. The store is closed on Monday. read more

I grew up in Hawai'i, so for me this is a teeny bit of home here on the opposite end of the world. This may not make sense to some, but seeing my son get excited over mochi ice cream, being able to buy kewpie mayo, and some real herbs and spices I need/miss. They even have butterfish! Neat little market. It's really the only option in the area to get hard to find Asian & Pacific Islander ingredients. I've been to quite a few Asian markets in the area and this is my favorite! I have to say the first thing that hit me (or didn't) was the absence of that smell - sorry, but you all know what I'm talking about - when you open the door. It was super clean and very well organized. I was really impressed by the selection as well, especially as I had a tough time finding rice paper a while back. They have it in every shape and size imaginable as well as a rainbow of Thai curry pastes. Yeah, the produce selection is a little smaller than some but the quality of the items was by far much better than the sad, wilted stuff I've seen elsewhere. Definitely a smaller shop compared to the Asian markets I'm used to in Orange County and SF, but it carries all the main basic ingredients for my dishes, so I'm happy as a clam!
