Surprisingly good food for a place I thought was closed down. The good: Hot and sour soup- I don't think many people come to sit down to eat. There's only a few tables but I had some time to kill to charge my car next for so sat and ate a hot and sour soup. Delicious! I considered ordering another but knew I already had a to-go order. Oh, a small is not small. The nice woman brought out the bag of food to-go and when I picked it up, I noticed how heavy it was. It was probably close to 5 lbs of food. Now the rice made up a large portion of the weight but the other place I've been going to is like 1 lb total. I don't remember what it was called but essentially general tso with vegetables and shrimp. Really good too and I have leftovers too. I also like that they start cooking once you order. It's not trays of food being kept warm, the bottom of the to-go bag was hot. Not like burn you hot but not like I can go to my car and eat this. The other (nothing was bad): It's next to a Cumberland farms that has electric car charging. I needed to charge my car and needed dinner but as I drove in, it looked dark inside and I thought it was closed down. I almost went up the road to get take-out and come back to charge but saw someone walking out with takeout. The building looks dated. There's pictures on Yelp or Google from 7 years ago and it looks the same but worn down. I don't blame them though. Like I said, I don't think most people come to sit. The 20 minutes I was there, they did have a steady flow of people coming in for takeout orders. Oh, the food came out quick and was only there 20 minutes because I chose to(should be in the good section). Yum I like new China. I got delivery to Bristol and they are always super fast. Someone left a comment about their food being dull... ask for extra sauce depending on what dish you get. A little disappointed after reading all these rave reviews. Not the worst Chinese I've had and certainly not the best. Late night delivery is a plus, especially in the east bay for Chinese food. We ordered 2 combination dinners the general Taos and chicken fingers. I'll start with the worst dish, the chow mein. The sauce was literally black, with very little vegetables. I've never seen chow mein with such a dark sauce. The pork fried rice had very little pork and not much flavor. There are various levels of heat you can order the general Taos in. I stayed with the medium thinking there would be some spice to it but not overwhelming. Despite 2 levels of lower spice not spicy and little heat, the medium had zero heat to it. Not one chili pepper to be found anywhere. The chicken fingers combination we thought would be served with brown gravy. It was not, we didn't notice it has to be ordered as a side for 2 bucks. So the plain chicken fingers had little to no taste. Overall our first time ordering was less than stellar. Being one of only 2 Chinese restaurants that delivers in the east bay we will probably give it one more try. Hope the next go round is much better. read more

Solid Americanized Chinese food. Friendly service. Food came out hot and fresh. We ordered to go and had the shrimp lo mein, Kung po chicken, hunan beef and the beef ho fun. The only thing we didn't like too much was the beef ho fun which is the broader flat noddle and it came out soggy. Everything else was pretty good. Again with the sweet, salty and greasy flavor you would expect from Americanized Chinese places. Portion was very generous and the price was low. read more

Unbelievably good. I am so shocked that I didn't try this place sooner. I recently moved here and have been trying to find the one Chinese place I can go to as a comfort zone and this place is heaven. I ordered takeout and got the house special lo mein (had chicken, beef, shrimp, vegetables), with Crab Rangoon, and Kung Pao chicken with pork fried rice and an egg roll. The lo mein was very tasty and it the noodles were perfectly cooked and the meat was very soft and cooked just right (especially the shrimp). The Crab Rangoons were very crispy and packed with creamy cream cheese and crab inside to my delight and the Kung Pao chicken was soft and flavorful and topped with veggies and peanuts. Very very very delicious food. Can't argue with hot, yummy food!! The chef cooked the food right in front of me and everything was done in 10 minutes. The people there are very kind too. This will definitely be my go to place for my Chinese craving. They gave me so much food!!! I will have leftovers for days. They also gave me soy sauce packets, duck sauce packets, some white sauce which I had no idea what it was but I found myself dipping everything in it because it was so good, and fortune cookies!! The fortune cookies were delicious too, fresh and they tasted like orange oddly enough. Please, please give this place a try. We threw the food and the menu away. There is literally no excuse for food to be this dry and terrible. We ordered some very basic pad thai, fried rice and chow mein. When I say bad, I mean, you have to ask--really guys??? Was it left over for a week?? I can't believe anyone would go back a second time. We LOVE Sunrise Restaurant but we didn't want to make the extra short drive; well we got what we deserved. If there are 5-star reviews when you look this over, they must be old or family members. My family and I have been in the area for a month now and we order take out every Friday. We all usually agree on Chinese every time. We have been to 3 other places in the area and they were terrible. We tried this place on a whim. It's close to our house so we figured if the food is good we'll have them deliver in the future. The food was aaaaahhhhmazing!! I love Chinese food and this was the best I've had in a looooonnnnggg time! I couldn't wait to leave a review. The egg rolls were on point and not greasy. The shrimp fried rice was superb! My daughter's enjoyed their beef and broccoli. I'm always excited when we find a good Chinese spot. The location seemed weird being next to a gas station but they delivered on service and taste! We will definitely be returning for more. Under new management I think. Was always a decent place for takeout but the last several times I've ordered from here the food quality has dropped dramatically. Low quality, fatty meat, overly breaded. My order is consistently wrong with sauces missing or in some cases entire entrees wrong. Bottom line, the food is across the board bad, bad, bad. That said, there aren't many options on Aquidneck Island, but if I have to go with Americanized Chinese food, this is my go-to place. The food is fresh, consistent, plentiful, and tasty. Our takeout orders are always prepared fast, are always accurate, and always packaged perfectly (no leakage). We most frequently order garlic chicken, orange chicken/beef, house fried rice, boneless ribs (about the leanest I've had), dumplings, moo shu, teriyaki chicken, egg foo yung, and wings. I unfortunately need to change my review from 4 to 2 stars. Since my first review I've had Lo mien so salty I could barely eat it with stringy chewy beef and general Tao's chicken that was just bad. Over battered, over cooked and just dry and unappealing. I didn't want to give up on the place so we went back again on New Years year. Is never had their Nime Chow and figured it was simple enough it couldn't be bad. However, I have mild shrimp allergy and made sure I double checked the description of the dish because I know it's common in the dish. It was not listed. Brought my order home and my first bite...you guessed it. Shrimp. Don't think I'll be back after that. Sorry New China...but that a pretty important ingredient to miss on your menu. read more

Ok, I never post reviews but for this I feel like I must. The food is actually pretty good and it's the only place that has nime chow in our area but if you order food from here DO NOT have it delivered if you are actually hungry. I would give it 3-4 stars for the food but I had to give them 2 because of this. They say it will be 30 - 40 minutes and it is always at least an hour.
