Quickly sat on a Saturday afternoon and took a look over the specials menu and just had to try the Sushi Pizza. Interesting concept and very filling, hot starter for more than just yourself for sure. The sushi rice is fried to create the base and then the toppings with protein selection is applied. I tried it with spicy salmon and it was good, little light with protein, but flavorful. For my main I went with spicy miso ramen which comes with three tempura shrimp as well. It was a hefty meal for one and needless to say I brought home my future meal as I could not make it through everything. The broth had a light to medium spice level and hit the ramen spot. There is a good selection of beer, wine and cocktails as well, I opted for some green tea which was hot and warmed me up perfectly. The vibe is relaxing and casual to easily enjoy group conversations if you have company with you. There is bar seating along with general seating booths or tables throughout the restaurant. The ramen featured a rich, deeply satisfying broth, while the chicken katsu was perfectly crisp on the outside and tender within. If you want a "hotter " ramen - the have an add on for a buck. Service was warm and attentive, reflecting the pride that often comes with a family-owned business. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, allowing the quality of the food to take center stage. Bristol is fortunate to have Sakuratani. Strong Japanese dining options can be hard to find outside larger cities, and for a restaurant only a year old, they seem to be doing many things right. The ramen boiled egg is cooked to perfection with a nice soft yoke, and you can tell it's been marinated for at least a few hours if not overnight in soy sauce. You can really taste the smokiness in their smoked salmon. They make you feel really special with great service, and sometimes Chef Jake will prepare something off the menu to surprise us. You can tell in his creativeness and attention to detail that food is his passion.

We tried the gochujang chicken bao bun, and spicy chili dumplings as appetizers.i tried their hong kong bubble tea and got the tonkotsu ramen. Gochujang chicken bao bun was tasty. Nice and fluffy bun and flavorful fried chicken paired well. I was expecting more or gochujang flavor but it actually tasted more like buffalo or hot chicken. Spicy chili dumplings were okay. Hong kong tea had good tea flavor and boba was chewy and sweet. The tonkotsu ramen was quite good. Flavorful pork broth paired well with garlic oil. Noodles were firm and thin as they seemed to be hand made. Chasu was fatty and flavorful. Egg was good but could use a bit more flavor if they were be marinated and should be a bit more yolky for ramen eggs. Overall a solid ramen. Service was good and the waitress was attentive.
