Mindy's in Portsmouth is always a favorite - whether we are dining in or ordering take out we always love it here. The seasonal cocktail menu is so much fun to check out and always gives us an excuse to try something new. We still love our staples like the General Tso's Chicken and miso soup, but the sushi is consistently fresh with so many great varieties to choose from. A huge bonus for me is how many items can be made gluten free as it makes dining out feel easy and enjoyable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We love sitting at the bar, chatting with the staff, and mixing new dishes and drinks in with our usual go-to favorites.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is always clean, and the staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly, which keeps us coming back again and again.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend!

    Hot and Sour Soup

After hearing mixed reviews, we decided to try Mindy's for lunch today. The food was hot, so that was good. But the rest not so much. My hot and sour soup was neither hot, nor sour, it had absolutely no flavor, like watered down broth. The nime chow was also void of flavor, tasted like bland noodles. The sauce didn't do much do it either. This thing was absolutely massive. They must have xxl wrappers, as I have had nime chow everywhere and never seen it but half this thick. Probably didn't help the taste as it was all filled with bland noodles and nothing more. The best part was the crab Rangoons; however, even they had a bit of a doughy taste to them. We asked for a small container of duck sauce to dip, and were charged $3 for a full pint of sauce... a bit overkill for six tiny Rangoon... when a typical condiment size would have been more than enough... Based on so many people saying how inconsistent this place is, I would certainly never try their sushi, and most likely will not be back again for anything else. I feel two stars is being very generous.

Nice interior, super friendly waitress named Ann, lots of options on their menu and a full bar. We ordered from the dinner plates. They were large portions and everything was delicious. We went here for the first time ever and we will definitely return.

On this visit, we tried: vegetable spring rolls, apple cider margaritas, steak dinner bento box, Mongolian beef, and vegetable pad thai. Everything had a delicious flavor. The spring rolls were god, but we were not expecting them to be fried. Also note that the beef was served with lots and lots of onions, so beware! Our waitress, Alex, was great. Very friendly and attentive. She was also mixing drinks behind the bar! As for the restaurant itself, it is a small area but serves many tables. Good ambience and always busy.

A nice addition to a very limited dining scene in Portsmouth. Had done takeout a few times during those "dark days". Finally visited on a week night with friends. Decent crowd. Service quite good. Enormous menu. Started with round of cocktails - a number of winners. We split the noted "sushi pizza" (with salmon). You'll like it. The other couple ordered "plates" - Like General T;s. They liked and the huge portions resulted in 2 large "people bags. We stayed with the sushi and sashimi and they were winners. Do give them a try! Food 4/5 Service 5/5 Value 4/5 Cleanliness 5/5 Noise 3/5 (average) Decor 4/5 (you should have seen this place before the remodel under new owners) Damages with tip was $160.

I visited Mori Sushi last week, and was shocked I had not heard of them sooner. We ordered several rolls: the Volcano Roll, the Mori Roll, the Crunch Roll, the Dynamite Roll, the Hawaii Roll, and the Godzilla roll. I loved each and every roll, but the stand out's were the Godzilla roll and the Volcano roll. Both very unique and must-gets. All of the fish we had was so fresh and I was super impressed. The prices are on the higher side, but reasonable for what you are getting. The actual restaurant is in a small plaza next to a grocery store. The inside is nice, nothing super special, but it doesnt need to be with sushi like that! I will be visiting again, soon!

The location is great overlooking the harbor, there are two floors inside and patio seating. We had a couple of signature cocktails to kick us off; two rolls (unagi avocado and the Holiday roll); and tuna, yellowtail, salmon and octopus nigiri. I started with the miso soup and an oyster & quail egg shooter amped up with tequilla and got an 8oz cold sake mid-way through. Everything was really, really good. Our server was completely up to speed on food alllergies and guided us through what could be made gluten-free; she was really great throughout. This…read morefamily-run restaurant has only been open about a year, but it already feels like an established part of the local dining scene. A nice space. We began with spring rolls (VERY good - chicken and shrimp) and sake, and the sake program deserves special mention. We selected a very enjoyable $38 bottle and noticed several other bottles at lower price points, along with a wide selection of canned sake--many around $11. Some diners may balk at paying that much for a can, but they will happily pay more for a mediocre glass of wine at half the volume. The value here is actually quite good, especially for those looking to explore sake beyond the ordinary. Our entrées--the ramen and chicken katsu--were excellent. The ramen featured a rich, deeply satisfying broth, while the chicken katsu was perfectly crisp on the outside and tender within. If you want a "hotter " ramen - the have an add on for a buck. Service was warm and attentive, reflecting the pride that often comes with a family-owned business. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, allowing the quality of the food to take center stage. Bristol is fortunate to have Sakuratani. Strong Japanese dining options can be hard to find outside larger cities, and for a restaurant only a year old, they seem to be doing many things right. We look forward to returning and exploring more of their menu--and their sake offerings. Highly recommended.

Stopped in here with some friends to try this place out since we were in the area!…read more Food: My friend got dashi tofu as an appetizer (not pictured) and it was quite an experience! Very silky, some crunch, and the dashi sauce was well balanced. We then ordered tonkotsu ramen as our entree, and let me tell you I was not disappointed. After trying numerous ramens, specifically tonkotsu, this rated 2nd under my first favorite place. The creamy, rich broth was balanced, the noodles were bouncy (maybe homemade?), and the toppings were all good! Personally I am not a fan of thick pieces of pork chashu, so just keep that in mind when ordering that meat topping. Otherwise, excellent! Service: it was pretty slow so we got in immediately. Our waiter was very nice and took care of our table promptly. Atmosphere: it's definitely darker in this place, but the atmosphere was cozy and the booths were nice! Overall for me this was a 4.7/5, I would definitely recommend going here and experiencing decent tonkotsu ramen!

It's located in a plaza so parkings are readily available. When we got there it was early just when the restaurant opened so it was empty. Inside is small with some seatings and tables with bar area. Once we sat down we took a look at the menu and placed our order We got tsunama crisp and divers scallop appetizer to start. They were both good but tsunama crisp was our favorite. Scallops were good but pairings sauce and salad in the middle was ok. Garlic noodle was okay as well. Bit strong on the soy sauce but needed a bit more depth of flavor or sweetness. Sushi was good. I personally liked the eel roll. Service was good and waitress was attentive. Overall it's a solid asian restaurant offering decent sushi and asian food in the area. However it's not unique since they don't offer m anything that is significantly different from other asian restaurants. Since it's a bit far from where i'm located not sure if i'll return unless I'm already in the area.
