I ordered a beef bahn mi and beef lo mein. We had to throw it all away. A waste of $30. The bread was stale and only crumbled. The beef had an odd slimy taste, limp cucumber and carrot daikon mix was wet and flavorless. I took two bites and that was it. The lo mein was greasy, same slimy beef. Was craving papaya salad and didn't want to drive to providence. Decided to give this place a try. This is my second time here and the first time I ordered the salaw machu. As the time I thought the broth was pretty sweet, not what I'm used to I grew up eating Khmer food. Back to my order I asked for it to be really spicy and the server say they have a devil taste. Went here with my fiancé and my parents to get pho as I had been craving my favorite Vietnamese comfort food. This place is cash only and our service was phenomenal. The waitress did a great job although it was busy at an off time. The portion sizes are a good value for the money. The interior is minimal however, there are a few good cultural touches. This place is lowkey located in a bit of a run down strip mall. Even once you get inside, the place itself isn't especially nice. That being said, the food and service were both great! I've never actually tried Cambodian food, so I was really excited to try it out. They also had some other Asian food, like Thai. My friend and I shared the Spring Rolls, which were fresh and delicious. They came with peanuts and a vinegar-based sauce, not the usual peanut sauce I'm used to at Thai places. My friend had the Tofu Bahn Mi and said it was really good! I got the Mee Katang with beef, since the waitress said that was a good choice. It reminded me of Drunken Noodles, but was smothered in more sauce. The portion was pretty big and came with lots of veggies. High praise! read more

This place mainly handles takeout orders but still has a nice clean sitting area. They only had one waitress for four tables. She did a great job though. As my fiancée is Vietnamese, I take my Vietnamese food seriously. The pho here is not the best ever, but it is very good and certainly the best east of Hartford, CT and south of Boston. I can't say enough great things about my experience. There were 4 of us and everyone loved everything. Started with the nime chow, hae kainge, egg rolls, jalapeño wings, pork fried rice, fresh, fresh, fresh! then we all ordered meals, which we all took home because there was just too much food! My husband, FIL and I are in town on business and decided to check out Hong Meas last night. Prior to coming, we discussed our options thoroughly as it was chilly outside and we were in the mood for soup. Not being from the area, we weren't sure where to go, but Hong Meas caught our eye - being a family run Cambodian establishment gave us hope for a great meal. Coming from Toronto, the land of thousands of cultural restaurants, we didn't know how this place would stand against our go-to spots back home. We were not disappointed. Service is great, the gentleman who was running the front of house was attentive and gave good recommendations for food. He was simultaneously seating guests, taking orders, answering the phone, settling bills and delivering drinks/ food. We got the fresh shrimp rolls to start. I could tell they were made fresh to order. The rice paper was still nice and hydrated, the shrimp was fresh, juicy and tender. The crushed peanuts on the side were a nice addition to add some texture to the dish! After browsing the menu, I settled on the caramelized pork soup (Somlor Khor Sach Chrouk). Our server let me know that they were out of it and I swapped to the beef pho. Before writing down my new choice, he asked me a few questions regarding my food preferences and recommended the Khor Ko in lieu of pho. I agreed to the swap and was thoroughly impressed by the dish I received. An incredibly flavourful broth with rice noodles, large chunks of soft carrot, tender stewing beef and meatballs. It absolutely exceeded my expectations - each bite was better than the last. My husband got the beef pho. As you know, a good pho is defined by the broth. This pho was delicious. It easily rivalled our favourite pho spot back home in Toronto. Portion sizes are huge - beware if you order the large. We are thankful we opted for the small! The portion of "add-ins" (bean sprouts, limes, thai basil, chili's) was very large, giving you the option to build your pho how you please! Our server was also quick to let us know that if we ran out/ needed more to just let him know! My FIL also got a soup. For the life of me, I can't remember what he ordered. There was chicken and slices of pork in his. He was extremely pleased with his selection. The broth was light and flavourful, you truly could taste the herbs and spices they used to create such a tasty dish. My FIL never finishes his pho, even at home from his favourite restaurant. Last night, he drank every last drop of broth from his bowl. If that's not a testament to this restaurants quality and flavour I don't know what is. We spent our meal slurping up our soup and fending each other's spoons off from stealing the broth from our personal bowls. Phenomenal flavours and service. Portions are huge (we took note of other dishes people ordered and marvelled at how much food was on a single plate). Great bang for your buck. When we arrived, we were one of 3 tables. By the time we left, almost every single booth/ seat had been taken. I cannot recommend this place enough! There is a 99% chance we will be back before we leave town to head home. Mee Katang with beef was a noodle dish similar to pad see ew. Noodles don't always transport well (they can get a little mushy while sitting in a takeout container) but I enjoyed it. e Pan Fried Lemongrass Chicken wings is one of the best dishes you'll ever try in Fall River (or anywhere). These are beyond PERFECT. Coconut, Peanut, Lemongarass. I could put the sauce they come with on Everything. The Bee Bong and the Banh Chev (Vietnamese crêpe) are fantastic! Not everything here is a stand out, but these three items would be considered extraordinary in New York, L.A. or (I would imagine) even Saigon. 10 stars. read more

Overall, Fall River seems to be a Asian desert with not a ton of variety other than the classic strip-mall Chinese restaurant--but Hong Meas does stand as a solitary candle of sorts. The location is unassuming and the interior a little dingy; but the food is good and that is what counts in my book. Try the Lemongrass wings: it has a green curry-type sauce which is good! The bahn mi also is legit bread; maybe even Portuguese bread (as there is a heavy Portuguese population here); but it isn't just random rolls which is often the case in places without easy access to bahn mi bread which in my opinion is at least twice as good as just a roll.
